We eat here a lot. Been coming here for quick food for at least 10 years. We were in the drive thru line one evening and were stopped about 3 cars back. We had a good view of the outside door facing the vehicle line (pretty sure it was the bathroom) and there was brown liquid seeping out from underneath the door onto the concrete sidewalk. It was not something that made you hungry for sure. An awful site. I would move that door or close it off. A dumb place for it. Other than that, it was fixed the next time we went. We have NEVER gotten sick here at Fito's Taco Shop. That's how I judge these places and will return until the day I do. Employees wash their hands well and keep clean kitchen area. On the other hand, their competitors (other Mexican mobile food vehicles ie: (roach coaches) parked between the tracks in the past) we did get sick. WE GOT REAL SICK, (like a virus sickness, horrible week of fever) the first time we went, and then stopped going to those mobile food vendors FOREVER after that. At Fito's Taco shop, their burritos have always been massive and delicious. If you take them apart, the tortillas are about 20 inch diameter or larger. Short wait times in their drive thru is what I like. Friendly people at the window that I have always tipped. So, 5 stars minus one star for that day something backed up but that wasn't really their fault was it? And, they apparantly called it in right? They get all 5 stars. Tip them well folks. read more

We have been coming to Fito's for many years! We love their breakfast burritos and my favorite is their Carne Asada super fries!! Sometimes it is a hit and miss but more good than bad. This spot is a fast food Mexican taco shop similar to Filiberto's. They have a drive through and small indoor area. We ordered to go and I was so pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes. Very large portions. Their burritos are hefty, their nachos were loaded with meat and toppings, and their tostado and quesadillas were large and full. Service was quick and friendly. This place is a favorite with the locals, but unfortunately, the food is below average. I did like the chips, but other than that, the meat was pretty low quality, and as you can see, they don't even use any authentic Mexican queso cheese. Shredded cheddar is not very authentic, but neither are nachos, one could argue. The atmosphere reminds me of a 1980's run down Taco Bell. Service was fine. I know there is not a lot of options in the area, I would just travel farther for better food. read more

Not bad, but just OK. Convenient location in Vail. Stopped here because it was lunchtime and the train was going and Colossal Cave Rd was backed up waiting for the train to pass. Tried Fito's on a whim. I would normally avoid a 3-star'd restaurant, but we were passing by and have noticed long lines in recent months. First impression upon walking in was wow, they use alot of Fabuloso to clean the place! Not off to a good start, as it's not an inviting scent in a taco shop! I want to smell tacos, and the inviting scents of onion, garlic, salsas, & carne asada! Service was very friendly and helpful. I ordered their shredded beef taco plate, and our table ordered a side of chips & salsa. Every single dish was delicious! Tacos were perfectly crunchy and flavorful! All 3 salsas were delicious and flavorful! Beans and Mexican rice were also flavorful and perfectly cooked! Hubby had their carnitas and also gave thumbs up for those. It was a little greasier than I initially expected and required all of the napkins they gave us. Been coming here for years. Food is good, but not amazing....we come here mainly out of convenience. Every time we come the burritos get smaller and smaller. Today was my last visit ever. Bought 5 burritos and you wouldn't believe how small these things were. Their prices keep going up up up and we receive less every time we go. Filiberto's every time from here on out. Better food and you're still not hungry after eating. I'll make the 13 minute trip to Filiberto's in Rita Ranch every time this point forward instead of getting ripped off here again. Have gone there 3 times after going to the Post Office, to mail something as they are just across the street. The third time the person taking the order was not as friendly as the person the first and second time that I went there. The Restaurant was clean and the service was quick. All three times we went for take out. Have gotten the 2 Fish Taco combo meal, 2 Beef Taco combo, 2 Ground Beef Burrito combo, 2 Shredded Beef Burrito combo, and a Shredded Beef Chimichanga, Buenuelos and a large Jamaica without Ice as we took the food home. Each time we got a lot of food that filled us up with extra food left over. The Bunuelos were good as we dipped them in Ice Cream, and the large Jamaica Drink was Larger than a large drink at most places. The prices were comparable to many of the other restaurants that we have been to for the same amount of food. read more

Stopped by here after a five-mike hike in nearby Colossal Cave Mtn Park. Several other hikers in the group I was with gave this place raves "You gotta try the chicken enchiladas!" said one gal. I took her advice and they were indeed delicious. Big chucks of white meat were wrapped in the corn shells. The enchilada sauce needed no extra kick. Be it ever so humble, there's noplace like Nico's. Nico's gets 5 stars in the category of Quick Mexican Food. You owe it to yourself if you are passing exit 279 on the 10 a little ways south of Tuscon. I had a fish taco & a chicken taco. My wife had a carnitas platter. It was all fresh and wonderful. Some of the best Mexican home cookin' I've had. I will definitely be stopping here again. I might even drive down from Phoenix for some of this stuff. And the prices! Total: $13 and change. And the portions! We easily could have shared the carnitas platter and skipped the tacos. Not that I would have missed the tacos. Especially the fish taco. Gorgeous. read more

Went there tonight. The person taking my order was not friendly and pretty much ignored me. I had to tell him at the window what I wanted to drink again. Then he tried to short change me two dollars and when I caught it he gave me the two dollars back but gave me a dirty look like I took his money. I think I am done with this place.
