For almost a year, my husband has been going to Taco Giro in Tucson for lunch every Thursday. Since I don't work in Tucson, I'd never been... until now! We checked out the Taco Giro in Vail, and I totally get why he keeps going back. It's a smaller restaurant, but they have the space set up really well, so it doesn't feel cramped. I had the mini chimis, and they came out hot, crispy, and really good. The rice and beans were delicious, and the bean dip they bring out with the chips is seriously addictive. Service was fast and friendly, and we were in and out without feeling rushed. It was such an easy, tasty lunch that I think I'm going to start making Thursday lunch dates in Vail a regular thing. read more

This Taco Giro was not what I expected. I expected counter service but got table service. The menu is extensive. The service was attentive. Everyone involved with the experience was friendly, the food was delivered quickly, and it was well worth the price. Clean across the board. I'd definitely go back again. read more

I come here almost every Saturday, For my favorite green chilaquiles Service is always very good. Prices are reasonable and food presentation on point. Today was served by a young lady named Yhajairaa she was exceptional very attentive food was delivery and timely manner and my drink was always full. Awesome food, atmosphere and service at the Vail, AZ location! We always have such a great time there and leave with bellies full of authentic and yummy food. Portion sizes are great too. Their complementary chips, bean dip and salsa are so good. Adriana, our favorite server, is amazing! She is top- notch. We always look forward to seeing her when we eat there. Muy Malo. We saw this place was raided by ICE and the IRS from what we saw on the local news. What does that tell you? Don't waste your time here. Although the inside was clean looking, our experience was terrible. Shortly after watching that news story, this location shut their doors for months with out of business signs taped to the door. Nice. Seems like if you're Caucasian, they won't even serve you. That's what happened to us, no service no nothing, just stares from the two hispanic waitresses from the bar where they stood until our patience ran out and we left. First time trying this little place. Good food and good service! I had the chile verde plate. Meat was tender and flavorful without being super spicy. Hubby had the shrimp enchiladas with verde or suiza sauce. He was very pleased with his as well. The rice was fluffy and beans had good flavor. They have a surprisingly huge menu for such a small but very clean and cute restaurant. Look forward to trying other options. Will definitely be back! read more

What a delightful gem in Vail! I lived here just over a year and for some reason never tried this place. Mistake. You're greeted like family and wait staff was friendly without being overwhelming. My husband and I tried this place out since it was 10 minutes from home. We went on Monday about 2 pm. I ordered a shredded beef chimichanga and he ordered a cheese enchilada and taco. The lunch special showed a chicken enchilada and beef taco for $12, but they wouldn't change the enchilada to cheese. So his meal cost $3 more. That was very strange. A cheese enchilada is cheaper than chicken. My husband was thrilled with his food, including beans. The chips and salsa were just okay. My chimi had good flavor, however it was way too spicy for me. I don't care for beans, so I had rice, which was probably a 2 out of 5. There were red peppers in the rice, which is one ingredient that I hate. I will order a la carte next time. Prices were high but portions were generous. Service was good. Atmosphere was pleasant and clean. Overall a decent experience. read more

The food was fabulous and the service was good as well....however, they advertise 25% discount to military and first responders on Thursdays which we we not able to get. Supposedly, no one in the restaurant knew the cash register code to honor the discount. To me, this seems like false advertising. Unsure if we will go back. read more

We have stopped in twice for an early dinner the last couple of months and both times had a great experience. It is very close to our house, and we typically drive farther to another place that we have gone to for years but there prices have increased and portions decreased so we thought we would give Taco Giro a few more tries. They were quite busy, lots of take out/pick up orders and the dining room was busy. We were greeted warmly and they brought water and chips/salsa right away. They have a large menu to choose from but we tend to order certain dishes and this last visit was no exception. My husband got the mixed Fajitas which had tons of meat and super hearty and flavorful. My Chilaquiles were incredibly good as well. We actually both had Micheladas as well and I must say they do a GREAT Michelada (Modelo was our beer of choice.) They must do their own mix, as it was super robust and zesty. My husband got the one with shrimp and it was like a shrimp cocktail hybrid with BIG fresh shrimp. We found the ladies who were serving to be very friendly and attentive. While it seemed a smidge short staffed with all the take out/dine in (who isn't these days) they did a great job delivering great customer service. I know this place gets mixed reviews, but for us it will be our new close to home Mexican restaurant. read more

The food was excellent and delicious for my husband and I. He had street tacos for Taco Tuesday and I had the fish tacos. We ordered a side of refried beans, which were delicious. To me, beans are the deal breaker for Mexican cooking. I would have given a five star except I had requested my pico on the side because of an issue I have with onions. The pico was all over my tacos, which I had to pick out diced onion before I could eat them. Service was great! read more

Our family and friends went to Taco Rio at Colossal Cave Rd. The service and food was impeccable!! All the staff made my son's birthday special and made us feel like family. Went to Taco Giro in Vail yesterday for a friend's birthday party. I've been to many Mexican restaurants but this was hands down the best!! I ordered the mixed fajitas. The first plate to arrive was half refried beans and half rice then came the main dish.... Oh my! It was a huge heap of meat and vegetables. And so delicious!!! The waitress was super attentive and kept filling up drinks and water and bringing more chips for us to snack on. Then at the end they brought out some flan for the birthday boy. Home-made and SO GOOD! We asked the chef to come out so we could compliment him. Overall experience was wonderful. This place should be on your list of go-to's! read more

My wife and I had lunch today (Tuesday) and took advantage of the "taco Tuesday" specials. They serve street tacos for 1.99 which is quite the deal. These were not skimpy little tacos either! I will have to say that the dessert, flan, was the best that I have ever had! BEST FLAN EVER! It was homemade and generous in portion size. Very busy. Had to wait 15-20 min for a table. Raining outside & no place to wait. Poor traffic pattern & no good place to wait. 1 of 3 dishes served cold & it was the daily special of tacos. Steak wasn't reheated long enough, no garnish at all. Just 2 cold tacos with 'steak' looked much like gray grd. beef. Tasted ok, better at taco truck down the street. Sweet waitress but bad service no drink or chip refills offered. Then took forever to get after meals finished. Enchiladas were delicious & generous amount of beans & rice. I'm extremely happy we have a Mexican restaurant in Vail (especially one with such a variety of seafood). Here's the thing, if you walk out of this establishment 'hungry' there's something really wrong because the portions are quite substantial. When We went to Taco Giro they were very busy and we had to wait a bit to get served. The server was good the food was tasty and the restaurant was clean. We got Molcajete for two. Only wish they gave us as much food as some of the other places that we have been to. read more

Our table ordered a variety of different meals, and not a single person was impressed. My chicken was dry, rubbery, and chewy, and I couldn't even finish my meal because it was so unappetizing. It felt like a complete waste of money. Unfortunately, the poor food quality, questionable cleanliness, and lack of authentic Mexican options mean we won't be returning. We were warned by some locals to go elsewhere, we should've listened. Our waitress was nice though...

They also give you lids to take some salsa home. Since this 1st time we have been back already a 2nd time a few days ago. I got 3 Sonoran dogs for my husband and a carne asada bowl for myself. Instead of doing the nachos I'll just get a bowl and then get the free chips to eat with it. They are pricey but nice to have in Rita ranch.
