Went with friends for brunch. There was no problem getting seated. We were inside but there is also outside seating. The menu offered a variety of choices. I had the calabacitas omelet that came with a choice of sides/ I had chilaquiles and toast. You can build your own omelet also. The omelet was good and the meal was large enough for two people. The restaurant is on the corner of a strip mall so parking is plentiful. They have a designated area for takeout outside as well. Nice spot for brunch. read more

We ate at Eclectic on 7/28. I had the Shrimp Tacos, which were very good. I'd suggest you double up on the corn tortillas so the tacos don't fall apart. The Wife told me about this hidden gem on the east side and I just had to check it out. The menu has choices that I will have try, each one. The food was incredible, matched only by the portions. As the name suggests, Eclectic Cafe offers a wide variety of American and Mexican food options prepared in a cafe/diner style. We've been here for lunch and dinner plus have ordered to go and are always happy with what we've had. My go to is the stuffed avocado with tuna salad - so fresh yet filling and is great if you're looking for a dish that's on the lighter side. The albacore melt is also good if you're in the mood for a sandwich option (I think in general I just really love their homemade tuna salad!). My husband has tried the patty melt, BLTA, and the Gordo's quesadilla which he has found to be solid choices. For dessert, highly recommend the triple chocolate cake - so so good even if you're not the biggest chocolate fan. There's a bit of something for everyone depending on what you're craving so a good place to stop by if you're on the east side of town! read more

Ordered Mexican food..bean and cheese burro, enchilada style. Very large portion, and very tasty. Was husband's birthday. He ordered a Reuben on sourdough. It was disgusting. I felt sorry for him. He never complains, but, he was very hungry, so he ate it. It looked unappetizing for sure! Not much corned beef, some cheese, NO SAUERCROUT...didn't even toast the bread. I placed my order (Quiche Lorraine/spinach salad and a burrito) to pick up and it took 30 minutes even though there were only 3 tables occupied in the restaurant and one other pickup order on this Friday night. I can't count the number of times I have drove past the Eclectic Cafe, until one day I stopped in for lunch. It was delicious! They offer indoor and outdoor covered seating. We ate outside to enjoy the sunshine. They have a nice menu with a variety of options to choose from. I ordered the spinach and mushroom crepes with chicken. They were perfect for a lighter meal that still felt filling. The service was friendly and prompt. I am glad to have found Eclectic Cafe and will definitely go back sometime. read more

Prior to the pandemic, we had brunch here a couple times a month, and it was always delicious. Due to their generous outdoor seating, and excellent precautions inside, this was one of the first places we starting eating at again. And loved it- in addition to brunch, we'd started getting dinner as well, and were impressed with the food at both. But all that changed about six weeks ago. We were in for dinner, and my salad was poorly balanced and composed. Not terrible, but nothing like it had been a few weeks before. And my husband's burrito was soggy and sad- Electic's beloved chorizo was suddenly wet mush. Not to mention the rice served still crunchy. They also managed to forget the enchilada sauce (he'd ordered enchilada style). Assuming it was a fluke, we tried again for breakfast a couple weeks later. In both my breakfast nachos and his corn beef hash, everything was cut so unevenly, that nearly every piece was burned or raw. The final straw was a third attempt, another dinner. I'd ordered the enchiladas banderas. Again the chorizo was soggy mush- no flavor and no texture. The rice wasn't crunchy as least, but the beans were overcooked and the enchiladas barely sauced. His meal wasn't any better. Not sure what's happening at Eclectic, but please fix it! read more

Excellent menu, excellent kitchen, fine ingredients and amazing food, topped off with an easy-going but fast, professional and friendly staff. Over decades, the great staff have served us diners well. Is THAT the secret of this place? Very good Covid protocols. We had the Mexican side of their menu, with tamales, enchiladas, classic Refered beans and generous greens. I have had multiple terrible experiences at Ecelctic Cafe- I have tried and tried to like this cafe.. I went into the cafe 2 different times and each time I had to send my dishes back - I was polite and explained being vegan and the waitress was very upset that the kitchen just couldn't get it right- my friends were so embarrassed that they suggested this place. Then a friend suggested we get a salad from there today (location was convenient to where we were at that minute, though we were going clear across town to have dinner with friends) I specifically wrote NO CHEESE and NO blue cheese DRESSING but balsamic on side ! I go, pick it up, and this salad - which in my opinion is over priced $19.95 - and I get it to my friend's house (we are both VEGAN, I know how to order my food/salads) - I called to let them know, the first person, a female, was just unable to help (she said) and she transferred my call to the manager, who was defensive right away - wow- he was extremely rude by telling me I didn't order it correctly- hmmm .. I seriously haven't dealt with a person in management that has had such a poor customer service! I explained over the phone that on my order, I had written- no cheese- sub avocado - VEGAN- but miraculously it disappeared (per the manager) .. which I know, things happen but I just can't believe the attitude the manager (working evening on 9/9/23 - I didn't write down his name) So- here's one more example of how Customer Service is so very hard to come by in 2023! Now you ask, will I return, doubtful- and it's a shame, because I have a group of friends who enjoy it- and after I told them what happened, they just changed their lunch place to Charro Vida next week! I really wish restaurant's would understand their biggest advertising is word of mouth- and the biggest way to get bad publicity is word of mouth as well! I have heard so much about this place. We went with some friends who have been here usually for breakfast but had a salad last time and said it was great. Well the salad looks great. The breakfast dishes sound great. But my husband and I ordered sandwiches. They were both horrible. We both love a good sandwich. By description was was a Turkey (roasted so it said) with Avocado (but was some avocado spread that was awful) melt. The bread was overly buttery tasting and not toasted very much so outside not crispy. Inside lacked flavor and Turkey tasted like it was processed. You get a pickle with it and one cucumber garnish. Nothing else. It left my stomach upset. My husband had Ruben sandwich. He says the corn beef was horrible and did not taste like a Ruben. (I'm putting it nicely). We had water to drink and our two sandwiches with no sides total bill 26 plus tip. We don't mind paying prices for food but this quality of these two sandwiches were way below par. I only gave 3 stars because the salads were big and looked good. And the employees there were wonderful. To me this is a diner kind of feel with a fancy name. It will be a long time before we try this one again. Tucson has too many other restaurants that are 4 and 5 stars that are good. If we do go back it will be to try breakfast or have a salad. I went for lunch today, I've been many times before. I knew I didn't want a lot of food, so I thought soup and a roll would be plenty. I ordered a cup of 'chicken' tortilla soup and a side roll. I was told by the wait staff that the soup doesn't have chicken in it, it's just mainly broth. I thought that was strange because I had ordered the soup before and it was very plentiful and full of chicken but just went with it thinking I would surely get a little bit of chicken in there. Well, I was wrong. No chicken at all, only broth. I just paid nearly $7.00 for a very small cup of broth. I'm not complaining about the staff, she did tell me, I guess I thought she may have been mistaken because I had ordered the soup before and always had gotten chicken. I'm upset at the fact that I paid that much for about 1/4 cup of chicken broth. That is an absurd amount to charge for broth. It certainly wasn't magic broth because I was still starving after eating it. Goodbye Eclectic. I guess that's why it's located near the foothills. read more

If by Eclectic they mean there is no cohesive theme to their menu...then yes it met that standard. In general the food was poor quality, over priced and lukewarm when served. We had the "Sweet and Spicy" burger and the tortilla soup - both labeled as one of their "top ten" menu items. Given what we were given, I can only imagine how bad the rest of the food is. The wait staff is a couple kids so I don't blame them. Too bad they won't have a job when this place folds. read more

Really came here with high expectations. My gut was right. You cannot do it all and do it right. My wife ordered calabacitas. They were delicious! I ordered a Sonoran Dog which is an Arizona staple. Complete fail! The bun and weiner were both cold. The bun was also soggy which was odd because it did seem it had been toasted at some point and allowed to cool on a damp counter. For the price I did not get what I payed for. I sent the food back but it took too long to get my new order in. So I just asked to leave the do itg off and me and my wife shared calabacitas. Moral of the story, Eclectic Cafe should be renamed to Hit or Miss Cafe. Keep expectations low when you try it and you may be surprised you could have a hit. It does seem that their average rating in January and February tells a story since it is 3.5. Something has changed, cook, apathy from owner during peak hours? Hopefully they can at least get what is considered the Holy Grail of Arizona Hot Dogs right for someone else or trim down the silly menu. As for me a $15 Hot Dog with a soggy cold bun and frigid weiner is not my idea of a $15 dollar meal. Full disclosure the beer in a can was good. read more

Holy cow these people are CROOKS. I recently ate here for lunch with my elderly grandparents. It's obvious that their whole marketing plan is acting extremely friendly and taking advantage of older people. Our waiter was very nice and immediately offered us iced teas. My grandparents and I got waters, one coke, and one iced tea. The food was good, definitely overpriced, but still good. The part that makes my blood boil was the final bill.... They charged $9 for EACH DRINK. On the tab, they were labeled as "gourmet iced teas" which is ridiculous. Since we only got one iced tea, I asked the waiter why a FOUNTAIN DRINK cost NINE DOLLARS!! He said that's what the drinks cost. I can't believe the owner would be ok with charging so much for a soda. It makes me sick to think this business would blatantly take advantage of older people. I have been dining at eclectic café for years. I am generally so so happy with the delicious variety of tasty foods. I went with my son and my aunt for a fun lunch out and we all decided to get the special burgers. I really expected it to be something fantastic considering it was $24.95, what we were presented with was a small burger, some mediocre french fries and perhaps there was 1 ounce of corned beef on my corned beef burger. We've gone here many times, and have always enjoyed the food and the service. They have generous servings, and are always happy to give a to-go cup for the iced tea, a very nice perk (for some odd reason they charge for soda water though, but I've learned to live with that). The latest visit left a bit of a bad taste though - due to the manager. I had ordered, and finished, a half sandwich with a cup of soup, which is priced at $11. When I got the bill, it was $15, which was odd, so I asked why. The waiter told me that it was because of the tomato and onion I had asked to be added to my sandwich. It was literally one slice of tomato and one slice of onion, charged at $2 each. Nobody had informed me that an extra slice of tomato and onion would mean $4 more, a 35% increase. I asked to talk to the manager to mention that the waiters should inform the customer of these extra charges when the order is taken, rather than try to sneak them in on the bill (the add ons were not even listed separately, just tacked on to the sandwich cost). She came out and instead of apologizing, she starts to complain to ME that they are afraid of informing the customer because customers have said, and I quote, "what, you think I can't afford it?". Yes, that was really her excuse for why they don't tell you about the charge of $4 for a slice of tomato and onion. She then went on to say that "it's a tough time for waiters" and no offer to make up for the hidden charge. I told her that we are regulars (have been there a dozen times or so in the last several months), no apology still. I said, half jokingly, that next time we come there they should at least tell ME what they charge. At this point, not sure there will be a next time, I'm not that interested in supporting dishonest enterprises, and the manager didn't seem interested in retaining my business. I thought of many things to ask her after I left. Like "have you ever been to another regular restaurant where they charge $2 for an extra slice of tomato?" or "So if I choose to take a slice of tomato OFF my meal, do I get a $2 credit?" or "Why should I care if an insecure customer is offended at the truth?" (I seriously doubt that is the actual reason they don't disclose these fees, more likely it is because people think they're ridiculous), but of course when it happened I was just too stunned and baffled to say much of anything (isn't that always the case?). Anyway, that manager seemed intent on trying to sneak in this charge in the future as well. If it had been me, I'd have said I'd take the charge off this time, since the waiter didn't point it out. And I also wouldn't have complained to the customer about how hard it is to do their job. Especially when all you needed to do in this case was to be honest. read more

After being away from Tucson for 15+ years I was excited to learn that this place was still around. For some reason the one item I remembered I used to get at lunch was a stuffed avocado. And all be darn, they still serve it. And ironically I think it's EXACTLY the same as it was 15 years ago. It was tasty, and somewhat of an old school presentation. It cane with carrot sticks, a hard boiled egg, and celery sticks. You also got a yummy roll for your extra carb load. My buddy got the chef salad and she said it was great. She also ordered the poppyseed dressing to go because she loves it. (I wasn't a fan because it's very sweet). The prices were a little higher than I felt appropriate based on the quality. But the food was good and service was good. If you're looking for atmosphere, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for good food, give this place a try. read more
