Breakfast: When I first looked at the breakfast buffet, it seemed like half I could not eat because of gluten and allium intolerances. However when I ordered the frittata and a side from the waiter, he told me that is would be more cost effective getting the buffet since they charge for juice and tea otherwise. Good advice! The made-to-order omelet station is popular so go there first thing. Look for the changing smoothies in the fruit bar if you're here for a few days. Be sure to watch your toasting bread! One person made a lot of smoke when they forgot their bagel and it got stuck. Lunch: They have a small lunch "grill" menu. If you stay at a hotel, you have to get hotel breakfast. I got the buffet and it was good. Some dishes were okay some were good. I always felt like the temp was just slightly off, like hot food weren't hot enough, and the cold foods were cold enough. Server was very nice and attentive. The place did get filled with smoke which is kind of weird. Overall, if you are staying here it's a fine breakfast choice. read more

Tuesday afternoon lunch with practically no one in the restaurant. Very peaceful especially outdoor seating but also very slow for food delivery. Not sure why the kitchen took so long to create a wrap. Avocado was delicious on the wrap, nothing else was noteworthy other than the wrap being stale. Chicken was cold, it didn't specify on the menu but was hoping it would be warm. Also ordered the apple cheesecake which was delicious albeit a bit small. $32 for lunch and it was meh. read more

We ate at Sundance Cafe twice during our stay at the El Conquistador Resort. This is a large restaurant that is conveniently located inside of the resort. The atmosphere is quiet, relaxing, and comfortable. Our server was Mirah both times. She was a good server, very friendly and attentive. As far as food goes, it was hit or miss. Sadly we did not try the buffet as everything looked old and dried out, but the food off their menu wasn't terrible. I did the Chipotle Chorizo Eggs Benedict the first day. It wasn't very good. The dish was very basic and bland for the price, and it didn't taste very fresh. The other guests got Omelets and the Eggs Your Way, which were very good. The second time we went, we all got eggs along with their pancakes, which are excellent. Overall, this is a decent restaurant, with good ambiance and service along with sub-par food. I've definitely had worse breakfast food, but for the price, the food just wasn't very good. By the way, I would not recommend you stay at this resort. Our casita had black mold in the vents, along with stained sheets and dirty carpet. read more

Ok. The food is pretty good. The entire service arrangement and training needs to be redone. The seating personnel are passive aggressive and deliberately don't seat people even though most people take the buffet liberating the staff of most details. Thus, the largest problem is getting seated. The actual serving staff are untrained. We sat for 25 minutes waiting for food and once it arrived, the server still didn't seem to be aware there were no utensils on the table. We went here out of convenience. Not again. read more

It took over 30 minutes for our food to come out. My husband celiac, they brought him bread. It was not gluten-free and the response was someone took your gluten-free bread. I was pretty excited to get the Huevos Rancheros which came with refried beans, crispy tortilla, corn, black beans, cheese and I got it with 2 sunny side eggs on top. The dish lacked a lot of flavor and was just really watery. Either the sauce was really watery or they didn't do a good job draining the water from the beans or something. The freshest part were the eggs. Otherwise, the dish was just okay. A bit of salt and pepper helped. read more

There is not much about the Sundance Cafe that says this place is special. From the dated decor, to the overall lack of ambiance, servers whose jokes fall flat, to the food which was plain. This is a hard pass. There are so many better choices in Tucson. We went with family to try something different than the standard choices in Oro Valley. I had the Vegetable Hash with scrambled eggs. The "hash" part of the meal were over cooked steak fries tossed together with vegetables, my eggs were served on a side plate. The most bizarre "hash" I have ever had. My wife split an omelet with her mother. She received the bacon side order on a small dish as "her plate" while my mother-in-law received the omelet. The omelet which should be 3 egg, looked like 1.5 eggs at best. I have special memories of The El Conquistador. Attending Gala's, Golf, 4th of July Fireworks. As I was staying here I decided to try their breakfast menu and see what items were in this side of the country. Hostess was friendly and quickly offered me a table. I ordered the huevos Rancheros which were above and beyond of what I was expecting. Really good and it was a large portion. I could not eat it all. Service was regular for a place like this. Place was at around 60% capacity and they serve buffet...but I had to wait for the server to bring me the check and my dish was never taken from my table. I left and it was still there... Definitely do not listen to these other reviews...this place has a great breakfast buffet! If you are a guest at the Conquistador Resort, I definitely recommend having breakfast here! Everyday they have different options! On the day we went, they had bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, potato wedges, pozole, cereal bar, fruit bar, yogurts, parfaits, and so much more! Personally, I had the pancakes, potato wedges, and fruit! The pancakes were super fluffy, the wedges were seasoned super well, and the fruit was sweet and juicy! My brother had the pozole and loved it! The kids loved everything as well especially the eggs and fruit! My girlfriend said the bacon was cooked perfectly! It's definitely a 10/10! read more

Paul was our server and he took good care of us, Ricardo was very friendly and professional at the omelette station, but again Sammara made all the difference. Our waitress was rude didn't seem she wanted to be working, we started to order our drinks the menu says they have tap beers and bottle which they don't, being that the bar is closed till 11am our waitress said. so why do they offer these items.. they only have bloody Mary's and mimosas , our breakfast took close to an hour being that we ordered just regular bacon eggs and posole nothing extravagant. I thought it was impossible to ruin an omelette. It was actually easy. Fill it with red onions instead of white or yellow onions. My stomach is upset and I can't get the taste of the onions out of my mouth. My wife's oatmeal was also awful. We will not eat here again. read more

This was 1 of 2 places to eat at during my stay and despite me trying a different menu item each time I dined here I still didn't find anything that was worth raving about. First day I had the chicken lime quesadilla--it was good. Delivered with huge jalapeños on top which if I knew that I would've asked to not have them. The quesadilla was flavorful and probably the better of the 3 menu items I had here. Second day I had the avocado chicken wrap with a side salad. The salad was just plain despite being $2 extra. The chicken wrap had mostly lettuce and lacked flavor. Needed more dressing. Wait staff not very attentive -- delivered the food and really didn't come to check on us until to deliver the check. Which we had to have him split since he never asked how we wanted it. The 2nd time I had the fish tacos which sound good on the menu. These were loaded with cabbage and only 1 piece of grilled fish on top. The fish had no flavor. The sauce for the taco was all on the cabbage and because the taco shell was so full of cabbage I had to remove some so I could actually eat the fish with the taco. I only ended up eating 1 and a half of the tacos. They were served with a tomato based rice and a side of salsa. The salsa was good but the tomato rice didn't really go with the tacos. This place was a treat! As a tucson local, I never think to dine at a hotel. I always think that brunch needs to be downtown. Not so - I dined here for a sunday late-morning brunch, and I'm looking forward to returning. We ate outside on the patio, which has gorgeous views of Pusch Ridge. The brunch selection is quite as massive as other buffets at other resorts, but everything was top quality. They offer breakfast delights - baked goods and bagels, omelets, pancakes bacon & sausage. I tried the croissants and a couple little baked treats which were sublime! I was expecting them to be pretty run-of-the-mill, but was really surprised at their quality. They had these little juice shots that we could not get enough of! The main feature is the barbeque - chicken, ribs and brisket. They offer several different styles of barbeque sauce, but I liked their own Sundance sauce. They also offer a mini sonoran hot-dog station! They offered three desserts, a margarita mousse, a horchata custard and a raspberry cake (I think!). I loved the horchata treat, it was unlike anything I've had before. Full disclosure: we went on a gift certificate we won from a Yelp elite event. But, both my date and I agreed that the regular price for brunch is well worth the value! We had free breakfast for being Hilton members but opted to not come back. Sundance Cafe is located inside the Hilton Hotel. I have only been here for breakfast so I can not comment on the other meals of the day. I have had their breakfast buffet twice now, and I am sure I will be back again for their Pazole. This was the best thing for breakfast after a night of drinking! Meat, corn, and spices in a savory broth is just what the doctor ordered! They also have the staples, like sausage, bacon, pancakes, omelette station, fruits, and bakery. The $24 brunch at the Sundance Cafe is a steal! It is all you can eat buffet style. They also hold it at the same time as their special occasion brunches, which is nice if you don't want to shell out $65 a head. For $8 you can add on three mimosas. I was hoping they wouldn't keep track, but they do. It is a BBQ theme. The beer braised chicken was heavenly! BUT the star of the show was the chorizo gravy....OHHHH MY. I want to drink it. They had a really nice selection of bbq sauces-white, house, agave, orange, ghost pepper, etc. They also had some cool pickling going on. Another offering was a play on chicken and waffles done eggs bene style. Ribs, corn, smoked salmon, omelets, waffles, deserts, cheese plates, bagels, Sonoran dogs...plenty of food. We ate lunch today at the Sundance Cafe at the Hilton El Conquistador. We had eaten there before and both the service and food was outstanding, so we were looking forward to going back. The food was still outstanding, but the service was indifferent at best. They tried to stick us at a table in the middle of the room--not acceptable--so the girl said we could have a one-sided booth against the partition. You could have shot a cannon through the place, but we were told that the tables in the corners were "reserved." Likely story. Two of the staff were carrying on a loud conversation across the room, completely indifferent to the customers in the place (about 10, I would say). The waitress varied from indifferent to actually frigid. Then when we had finished our excellent lunch, she never offered dessert. Both Marilyn and I had thought about having some. Swing and a miss, lady. This may be a pattern with the El Conquistador because we had our 50th Anniversary dinner at the Epazote, also looking forward to a duplication of the fine experience we had had the time we ate there before. That experience was even worse. Needless to say, the Epazote will do without our business for eternity. I had posted a Yelp review about them, but that disappeared. You have to wonder how much they pay Yelp to remove scathing reviews. Anyway, we may or may not ever return to the Sundance Cafe. The food is excellent, but they can't manage to sort out the service. We had the basic breakfast buffet for $13...not a bad deal since it comes with coffee, juice, and all you can eat oatmeal, toast, cereal, pastries, yoghurt, and fruit which was really good and fresh! I topped fruit with yougourt and some really nice granola that they had for the oatmeal. For 20 you could upgrade to the hot breakfast which included bacon, eggs, sausage, potatoes and an omelet bar. Will never be wasting my $$ in thus cafe.. the only decent tasting food was the fries that came with my steakhouse burger. The burger was asked to be medium done but all I got was charred to the extent of burnt burger with tasteless cheese n tasteless sautéed mushrooms. Overall the burger was completely tasteless n oily n gross. Fastfood burgers taste way better and cheaper. Mimosa was another joke. This was the worst tasting mimosa I ever had. The chimchurri steak was not bad for the price. The waiter who served us seemed impatient n will always be turning to move away while asking us if we need anything else..completely not intending to be of service. Water was never filled while we were there for almost 1 hr. Food took 30 mins to arrive for a restaurant with 3 tables of customers (6pax). We ate at the Sundance Cafe for breakfast for two days in a row while celebrating my grandparents 90th b-day. You can choose from the $13 continental breakfast or $20 for the whole package. I tried them both and there is a quite a difference. The continental had many pastry options, a variety of fruits, breads, yogurts and granola. It was all really good with raspberries, blackberries, Greek yogurt and really tasty granola making a nice breakfast. They also had green smoothie shots for a health boost! The $20 meal had many more hearty options. They included scrambled eggs, applewood bacon, sausage, pancakes, roasted potatoes and posole. It also included an omelet station. The bacon was nice and crispy cooked to perfection. I had everything but the sausage and the pancakes and it was really good. If you are hungry and you want endless meat I would definitely go with the $20 option. If you are staying for a week the continental breakfast is a nice option for a little healthier option.
