Looking for a breakfast place to try and we drove by this place, so we decided to try it. The burritos look like a good size for $11 and a few choices to pick from. Chorizo, bacon, sausage or ham We picked 2 bacon and 2 sausage $50 My bacon burrito was not good. The bacon taste like old chicharron. I was only able to eat maybe 1/2 of it then I tossed it. The salsa tased old also, not a good flavor Would I recommend the breakfast burritos, NO. I will never try them again. Not worth $11 and just tasted horrible for me. read more

Ordered the shredded beef taco salad for lunch. The salad was basically the chunks off the end of a lettuce head. The "salad" was depressing. The cold chunks of lettuce mixed with the hot piping meat of the shredded beef made my salad soggy and the texture was ruined because of it. Meat was so tender but lacked some seasoning. First time eating here on Taco Tuesday. had the Fred Fish tacos and the Mini Chimichangas plate with Rice & Beans. Everything was excellent. Stopped here for a quick margarita and a burrito. That's it. Just a stop over after a 7 hour drive. I was told this was a good spot. Maybe COVID19 has changed things because it was simply disappointing. The margaritas $7 were on the small side, sugared down, and didn't seem to have any "kick". ie Tequila! They just weren't what they were meant out to be. The burrito was simply meat (over seasoned) in tortilla - that's it. This after we asked for a la carte which means just the burrito no sides. They still charged the full price $9 and got over seasoned carne asada wrapped in a tortilla. Unbelievable. Google "traditional burrito" and this is what comes up - Burritos are filled with a savory filling, most often a meat such as chicken, beef, or pork, and often include a large array of other ingredients such as rice, cooked beans (either whole or refried), vegetables such as lettuce and tomatoes, cheese, and condiments such as salsa, pico de gallo, guacamole, or crema. Only meat and a tortilla. None of the above. Sorry but that's not even trying to be truly Mexican. The service was pretty awful, even for covid. Was tough to get a second drink (not a margarita), they didn't ask us if we need anything else but they did ask if we wanted more chips, but never brought any (wtf) but they were quick to serve us the check for 2 margaritas and a meat wrapped tortilla for $25. I can't believe the bad reviews this place has! A group of 7 of us went on Saturday night and we were seated right away. The service was terrific. The drinks and food were incredible! I am very picky about red enchilada sauce, but this one was delicious. I am pretty critical about margaritas as well, but this one passes the test. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile. The parking lot is usually packed when I drive by. I went in with a friend for a late lunch on a Tuesday. In walking in, the place was a bit dark but looked clean. We were greeted by a friendly server who seated us, handing us menus as we sat down in a booth with ripped vinyl seats. It's large menu with Spanish and English descriptors of the food. I asked if they had lengua (tongue) but no luck on that one. I didn't see any burria listed either. Our server brought us our drinks right away. Another server brought us a large bowl of chips (we didn't finish them all) and two small bowls - one was warm "creamed" beans (yummy) and one was salsa. The salsa had a lot of flavor but no heat. I noticed there were 5 or 6 bottles of hot sauce on the table so I added some to the salsa and spiced it up a bit. Friend ordered a ground beef burro, enchilada style. I ordered the #10, which is a shredded beef taco, rice and beans. And then we waited, and waited, and waited. There were 3 other customers when we walked in so I figured it would be a quick service on getting our food. After 35 minutes our food showed up. The food was delicious. Friend said her standard on how good a Mexican restaurant is, is the beans; they were really good. Friend loved the ground beef burro. My taco was stuffed with shredded beef that was delicious - some of the best I've had in awhile. The rice was, well, rice. Not bad, not outstanding. I'll go back, and take husband. The wait was way too long, but the food was really good. I thought it was much better than the Little Mexico that is across the street. This place was better off as an all you can eat Chinese Buffet. Now it's a poor service, worst food joint on all of Valencia let alone the Southside. The beef fajitas are more peppers and onion fajitas. The guaq is a bad blend of over whipped greens and to my young server, maybe get that GED and pick something else to make some money. All our food was outstanding. The fresh oysters were very fresh, and we opted for the ones loaded with ceviche on top. They were so loaded we had to eat the ceviche off first before we could even get to the oyster. The oysters themselves were fresh and didn't have a fishy taste at all. Great appetizer to start the meal off. We also had some drinks -- I would highly recommend their mango margarita which is what I had. Be careful, as it's strong! One was enough for me. A friend of ours had a Mexican candy or chamomile margarita of some sort and she loved it as well. I opted for the fried fish, wish was crispy and delicious. I like having my fish with soy sauce (it's the Asian in me), and they were able to bring me some despite it not being traditionally served at a Mexican restaurant. At least I don't think it traditionally is. I really appreciated that they did that! Their salsa was okay, in my opinion, but their beans and their bean dip was great! Their portions are quite large also. We all ended up taking a little bit home with us. This is the perfect place for a happy hour or a Sunday Funday with friends. We stopped by here on the way to Phoenix from Texas. It was about 2 pm. The staff were very friendly and seated us right away. Ordered drinks and food and it was served hot and fresh and quick. The kids and I thought the homemade chips and salsa were yummy. My oldest got the shredded beef tacos and he said they were delicious. I got the chicken enchiladas and they were perfect. I don't like spicy so for me, they were awesome. My youngest got the kids quesadilla and fries. He loved the fries as they weren't too crispy but not soggy. We were very impressed. The server was happy to give us to-go cups since we were another hitting the road and it didn't break our travel budget. We will be back next time we are in the area. read more

Taco Giro has just a few things going for itself: a decent patio (albeit, strangely oriented), an fairly involved mariscos/seafood menu and whatever that bean dip is served with the chips. Other than that, it is not distinctive in any meaningful way, especially in a region known significantly for Mexican food. The menu is mostly typical: carne asada, enchiladas, tacos, chile rellenos, tamales, flautas, fajitas, tortas, burritos, nachos, chimis, etc. Seafood offerings include cocktails, caldos, botanas, tostads and other dishes. When the customary chips arrive as an appetizer, you will notice that you have an empty bowl included. Use the bowl for salsa at the salsa bar, which includes pickled onions, jalapenos, limes, cucumber and other accompaniments. But I gather that folks are drawn to this casual local chain for a few reasons: The drinks, including the margaritas; the pozole, and maybe even the menudo; the homemade tortillas (actually, quite good); and the happy hour. And breakfast is served all day. I found that the carnitas tacos, though full of delicious vegetables, were overdone. Yes, to the point that the pork was dry and a tad bit tough. The culichi was underwhelming -- too watery without enough flavor. Really, it was missing the cream and cheese flavor. Interesting, it appeared that a few shavings of American cheese was added to the dish. That was not a welcome addition. It created a ruckus where there should have been a symphony. And the tails were not removed from the shrimps, which was aggravating. The dish was served with the most limp and depressed-looking fries that I could not enjoy them. Service was very good. Attentive and helpful. I see a number of reviews have mentioned either poor or lacking service at this location. However, I had the good fortune of receiving good service from multiple people. I would say -- why not -- give them a go. But best not take your Tucson visitors here hoping for a good introduction to what the city and region has to offer. read more

Had lunch today at the one on Valencia at approximately 3 pm. Probably won't do that again. Most of their floor staff seems to be hard of hearing. We were asked if we wanted a table or booth. We asked for a table. We were immediately seated at a booth. We ordered tea with no lemon. We were served tea with lemon. After the meal we got to wait 15 minutes for the bill. The food was okay. We ordered mixed fajatas and a chili verde combination plate online with that clover app that popped up. The order was ready to go in the 25 min they said it would take. The gal at the counter was so polite! When we opened our food up at home it was still steaming hot and looked great! We both shared each others so I'll share with you my husbands opinion..... this place is so good, the flavors, the crunchy bell peppers, yummy perfectly seasoned guacamole, the refried beans are authentic delicious, the sauce on the chili verde mild but yummy, no grisly or fatty meat, delicious chips and tortilla's! We could have split the fajitas it was so much food! I don't know anyone who owns this place or works here and no one asked me to write this review..... Stopped by for lunch after receiving awful service down the street but it was definitely worked out to our benefit . I had the Chile relleno lunch special and the hubby had chicken enchiladas. The beans that were served with the chips and salsa I would've paid for , they were so good , refried with chorizo and salsa.
