A friend and I go every Monday for margaritas and a happy hour dish. The guacamole is made at your table and it is FABULOUS!!! Two of us share it...and it is more than plenty. Our server last Monday was Nallely. She was awesome and suggested something we hadn't tried before. She said it was great and we wouldn't be disappointed.... and she was so right... Came in on my last night in green valley. Love they come out with a piping hot bean dip and chips and salsa when you first arrive. Gave me time to look over menu. Decided on the two taco combo- 1 beef, 1 chicken. Rice, "guacamole" and salad. Holy moly plate full of iceberg lettuce. Maybe and I'm being generous two bites of guacamole. The seafood dishes here are simple amazingly delicious and the best shrimp cocktail for lunch is my favorite go to meal so fresh and delicious large shrimp and the avocado is nice and large amounts truly as good as In Nogales MX. read more

We had dinner at the Green Valley location last night. Unfortunately, there are a few things I have got to bring to your attention. 1) The food and drinks I ordered were great - but it was bad timing for whoever decided to start mopping the floors at 8:30 while people were eating- the strong stench of old Clorox water ruined the dinner. Felt like experiences I had in Mexico where they seem to have a habit of mopping while people dine, it's gross. 2) Marisela was our server, my husband asked me a question and she answered - seemed sarcastic but I let it go. He then later asked me another question about my drink when she brought it to me, she answered again - being the second time she did that confirmed she was being rude. It was rude of her to answer questions he was directing to me to begin with, and her sarcasm in answering didn't help. Honestly, I'm not one to complain, however, I could not let this one go. We had 5 people out to celebrate a 93rd birthday. We have various food preferences among our party. All were very impressed with the food taste and presentation. One doesn't like seafood, one doesn't like typical Mexican food and one doesn't like meat. All were happy with their meals. The portions were large and delicious. The menu is extensive and offers a variety from club sandwiches to traditional Mexican breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks to amazing seafood. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I normally like the food at this restaurant. I have even ordered their Caldo De Rez and Pozole before and they have been great. However, I had a craving for white menudo and it was terrible. I was very disappointed. It was super salty and lacked any substance. I maybe received 1/3 of tripe and very very little hominy. The rest was just broth. They did pack me another container to-go. I should have really just ordered something else. Still mostly broth and a little less salty. Disappointed. Menudo is not their strong point. read more

You know, when you show up on a Monday to a restaurant, it's usually just a few people eating and a bored staff? Well, it's Monday and it was PACKED. Leaving the question, why? Perused the large menu of offerings and wow!! I almost went the seafood route due to the amazing selection but went with the burrito mohado mexicano. Got with the shredded beef and the rice and beans on the side (awesome option, thanks Taco Giro!) Ended up with a huge wet burrito in a green sauce. A true protein bomb. As you have all figured out, I'm a fat guy. Big Ole biscuit eating man. I ate only 1/3 of this monster and about half my rice and beans. So that should tell you why this place is packed on a Monday. Lots of locals popping in: retirees, car salesmen, families, couples. The old lady got the combo#6 chicken tacos. She loves them so much, she wants to sell the house and move within walking distance of this restaurant, lol. I can't disagree. She got a wonderful Arnold Palmer, I got iced tea... great. Chips and salsa are unique but I wish the salsa was a bit hotter. The creamy-bean-y sauce was also something I really enjoyed. My only issue was that we did not realize the outdoor patio was open. Great menus! Their prepared food was great. My wife and I have eaten there several times and have not found any problems in staff or food presentation. We love the enchiladas. The rice is the best we've had at any other restaurant. The Margaritas are just right. The wait staff is attentive and pleasant. The ambiance is perfect. Update: brought my spouse this time and had the hardest time being seated as the middle-aged hostess allowed herself to be interrupted three times on the way to the table, having involved conversations (two in Spanish) with the interruptors until we just went and seated ourselves. The chicken taco salad and chicken burrito were very bland and there was no salad dressing supplied for the former. Our tall male server barely spoke English and talked only to my husband, ignoring me. Big disappointment. Other than a pesky fly, our experience was lovely here for lunch. Great upgraded environment, lots of choices for drinks and entrees with beautiful pictures that really look like the food you are served. We can recommend the taco platter (super fresh corn tortillas)[$28+) salsa and bean dip which come with chips when you arrive and the mini chimis ($16). The bean dip has a bit of a kick, just FYI. There is a plethora of spicy sauces at each table and the servers are charming. The guacamole we requested came in a tiny ramekin which had huge chunks of fresh avocado which we had to mash up ourselves in order to use our chips. By mixing it with the salsa, it was good Prices range from the mid teens to just under $50. There are several dessert options which we were too full to order but intend tobtry another time. We stopped by today on our way back from Nogales. Excited to eat at this location after our location in Marana closed. Sadly we did not eat, we were seated outside at our request. We waited 10 minutes and no one came to take our order. I went back inside to the counter where the young man that sat us was standing and I asked him if anyone was going to come take our order or if we should just leave? He said "it's up to you, but I can get someone". I clarified his response asking if we would get service or should we leave. He said I told you I could get someone. I said it's okay, we will leave. Another gentleman passed me and I asked if there was a manger. Explained to him our situation and he said he would get her. I went back to our table, explained to my husband what had just happened and said we were leaving. A very nice lady came out who said she was the server in section 1 but she could help us. I told her how much I appreciated her efforts but we would be leaving. The manger never came out. Aesthetically it's nice. Its in front of a golf course so you get the view of the greens and it's really nice. It's very clean. It's well lighted. Noise level was medium, even though it was empty, but there were a few families with children. The food was really good as well tasted authentic Mexican. I think the only thing that we did not like was the wait time like I mentioned before it was empty Ish and we still had to wait about 20 minutes just to get our drink order in. read more

I like just about everything about this place- the menu obviously demonstrates a mastery of informal Mexican cooking. The food comes- it's really quite good and as authentic as possible. Very nice. I've only been there for lunch, but I can see pages and pages on the menu for dinner. Service is only now coming up to standard. But, hell, my wife really likes the drinks, and really likes the HUGE portions. For her, it's lunch and dinner. So, great food, really great Specials. Decent, now better service. All in all, i think this is the Only Place in Town. Keep in mind, there must be like 4 other Mexican places to go. This is the best, by far. Have fun. read more

TLDR: Best Mexican in Green Valley, service is slow as it just opened. Long version: Good first impressions. Probably the nicest Taco Giro that exists. Higher end with nicer furnishings. Pleasant lighting and views of the golf course. The demographic of the customers are towards the older generation, it's Green Valley after all. But lots of complaining has already been observed, chairs being too hard, food too spicy, lots of wasted plates of food, customers just getting up and leaving. Service is slow but it's day 2 so completely understandable. The chips and salsa came out after 10 minutes. The chips were good quality. The salsa was mild but tasty and the bean dip was very good. Better than I remember from other locations. But they only brought one little cup of each which is a little silly for a family of 6. The beverages were slow to refill, bothersome but again, only day 2. The food came after 30 minutes, all but one of us got food. However, no silverware . 10 minutes later, hooray the forks, and the missing tamale plate. The food by rating on scale 1(worst) to 5 (best) Steak Wet Burrito with Green Sauce: 4 Steak Taco Salad: 5 Tamale w/ Beens and Rice: 2.5 Child's Taco: 2.5 w/fries: 4 I didn't expect the tamale (usually a holiday only staple for a reason) or kids tacos to be any good. Today was Not a good experience. We arrived in the early afternoon. The place was mostly empty. Just another group and us. The other party left and we were the only ones there. We sat for 20 minutes and no one bothered to come to our booth. I had enough, my wife and I walked out. I informed the hostess and she said nothing. There's no excuse. We had great service and good food in the past. I was very disappointed. Seems like service is an issue at times. We went to Manuals and got served within 3 minutes. I have had ok food here before. Nothing spectacular but nothing truly bad.... Until yesterday. I ordered a taco chicken salad. Chicken was not seasoned, stringy and inedible. I hate sending things back and tried to see if I could eat around the chicken. There was just too much inedible chicken in there. They were great about taking it back and took it off the bill. My husband enjoyed his tacos (not chicken ). I wouldn't order chicken from there. The best Mexican food in Sahuarita/Green valley are the food trucks Fraustos & El Checo IMO. read more
