Pros: One of the BEST modernized, and decorated, sports bar/sit-down, restaurants I've seen in the local Tucson/Sahuarita area that creates an open, spacious feel with numerous overhead T.V.s and spacious seating including a 'party' room in the back for larger groups. Goyitas is a family ran business and the restaurant is truly, very appealing with a beautifully decorated interior, clean, reasonably sized outdoor seating that's styled for the holidays and very well presented throughout the establishment. A highly upscaled, modernized take on New Mexican/southwestern specials that specialize in these categories; here's a brief take on their offerings. - Taco Plates such as the Chicken or Ground Beef Tacos plate, served with a side of rice and beans. -Flautas Plate which includes two rolled corn tortilla flautas stuffed with your choice of chicken or shredded beef, topped with sour cream, guacamole, and cheese, served with rice and beans. -Chile Relleno Plate which comes with two chile rellenos, rice, beans, and a tortilla. -Enchilada Style Burrito (a lunch special) smothered in red or green chile with your choice of chicken or beef, served with rice or beans. -Rolled Cheese Enchiladas (available à la carte). Now once you DO decide on what entree you want to order up, (there's a hefty, two-sided laminated menu that will take you some time to get through), they have a wonderful in house Shuffleboard you can play while waiting that is a nice touch for people to gather around and socialize with. Unfortunately, I'm not able to discern the if style of food here being classified as New Mexican was or is specific cuisine that you would identify with comes from that geographic location per se when compared to the many other reviews, but for my party of 20 people we just thoroughly enjoyed the cuisine as presented. What mattered to us was the quality of the food, preparedness, taste etc.. Goyitas worked to feed a party of 20 extremely quickly. All meals were well presented, not hot, but very warm and only a few had 'take home' bags, as every plate was otherwise devoured! The plates were FULL of food and the added side samples of flavored sauces were a delicious touch in addition to the hot chips and salsa presented upon first sitting down. Our meal was primarily an end of year dinner/collaboration and it went perfectly at Goyitas and notably, the Service/Staff were always present and courteous. No one mentioned anything dissatisfying, so from a group of 20, the meals were absolutely on point in our opinion! Sahuarita and Green Valley suffer for not having a variety of sit down restaurants and It was absolutely a pleasant place to have a large gathering. We really enjoyed the presentation and delivery here even getting to speak with the owner, Jose. A lot of effort has gone into this restaurant's appeal, build and menu so I would say, it will certainly stay on our list of local restaurants to return too! Very good food in a sports bar environment. It was nice to watch the U of A basketball game during dinner. The server was attentive and wanted to make sure everyone had the food correctly as ordered. Fantastic food! I truly felt like I was back in Santa Fe. The red and green sauces were excellent. I had the shredded beef stacked enchiladas "Christmas Style" (both sauces), and they were delicious. The beans were especially good, though I added a little extra spice to the rice. My husband had a combination plate with tacos, enchiladas, and a chile relleno, and he loved everything. Our server, Vanessa, was attentive and friendly. Drinks came out quickly and were very good. It was also refreshing to dine in a Mexican restaurant with tasteful décor instead of the usual overly themed style. Overall, a wonderful experience -- we'll definitely be back! read more

This was our first time dining here. The wait to be seated was lengthy and the waitress who seated us seemed preoccupied. Once seated it took about 20 minutes to place our order. It appeared that they were short staffed. One we order, it sometime before we were served. The food was pretty good. The decor was eye pleasing. Came here on a weeknight around 6:30. Wasn't too busy. Has a sports bar type vibe is large and very open which I liked. The server was good and asked us if we had been here before which we hadn't. She brought out the different sauces to try with chips which was nice. Sauces were good but reds were spicy. Highly recommend tasting the sauces first if you don't like spice. Queso fundido was excellent and the tortillas were homemade. All of our dinners were excellent and definitely a place to add on our list when we are down here. Some people complain about service in other reviews and I can sense that if they get busy. Great ambiance, sort of a sports bar feel. Lots of room. Waitresses were friendly and helpful. The owner came over to see how we were doing; and if the food was up to our expectations. The green chili is fantastic, just a bit of heat. The red chili is hotter. Everything they make is very good. All of the meat is tender, the salsa very flavorful. We especially like the New Style green Chile chicken enchiladas, the green burritos, and the combination plates. Tried Goyitas for the first time tonight and sampled most of the menu. My biggest hope is that no one remotely associates this to authentic New Mexico food. Heat does not make it New Mexico, and New Mexico does not always equal heat. It's the flavor. It's the smells. Our waitress was awesome. Helping us navigate the menu and even brought samples of some of the sauces to try along with chips and salsa. We started with the chile cheese dip, which looked great with large chunks of green chile and onion. Ended up being a greasy dish of melted shredded cheese with chiles that were unnoticeable through the cheese. I tried the chile rellenos, which is a staple for a New Mexico style restaurant. They were not cooked through, very tough, and hard to cut. The charring on the chiles tasted more like cigarette ash than roasted. The chiles had some heat, but the red sauce poured over was just hot red chile with little to no seasoning. And the cheese was almost non-existent. The gorditas had a nice corn cake, but the ground beef seemed flavored only with black pepper. And the "gordita sauce" was flavorless. Others at the table had New Mexico style chicken enchiladas. They were good with the green sauce preferred. One made the mistake of asking for the sauce Chriatmas style. While the green was good and had a nice heat, the re made the dish al.ost inedible. I love heat and have cried my way through many authentic New Mexico dishes as a badge of courage because they are just so damn good. Goyitas did not deliver this. Before you think poorly of New Mexico style food based on what Goyitas serves, drive the distance to Poco and Mom's in Tucson. read more

First time at this place and will add it to our list when we are in the area. The food was fantastic. We had the red chile with pork and the small combination platter (a shredded beef taco, chile rellano, and cheese enchilada). The pork was very tender and the red chile was flavorful and spicy. The taco had a great crunch with tender beef and the right amount of fixings on top. The enchilada was delicious and cheesy with a red chile beef sauce that had the right amount of heat. The rellano was tender, stuffed with cheese, and had a crispy coating. Too many times, rellanos have a lot of batter and you can't find the pepper. This was not the case here so the taste of the pepper shown through. We were also pleasantly surprised how great the refried beans were. Usually, they are just relegated as an accompaniment but these were wonderful. Not too thick, not too thin, not too smooth, and with a hint of smoke. Best we've ever had. The place was busy but we were served drinks and salsa and chips soon after seated. The staff is friendly and checked on us often. We appreciated our server bringing a sampling of sauces to try and it was helpful in deciding how spicy we wanted to go. That was pretty unique. If you find yourself in the area and hungry for delicious New Mexico food, this is your place to go. read more

Grandma is actually cooking, and she makes it SPICY so be prepared. Ask to sample the sauce like it says on the menu. You order it, you're paying for it, and I totally understand. It's New Mexico cuisine - so don't expect typical Tucson food. The restaurant is clean and casual, and the staff is friendly. I didn't like seeing back of the house stuff like the soda syrup boxes, otherwise it's nice. Not a strip mall joint, the lighting is mellow, the plates are actually plates. My husband had the best chile relleno I've ever tasted. I had the potato gorditas and they were fresh and delicious. The rice and beans were seasoned but not hot spicy. Nothing was bland. I wish they waited to bring out our plates at the same time because that's awkward waiting to eat to be polite. It's a small infraction, but the fresh tortillas made up for it. I had a chicken chimichanga with rice & beans. $16.95 but she offered a sauce which they charged $3.00 for. It wasn't good, took a tiny taste, didn't use it. Really enjoyed the food and delicious chili and sauces. We were given a sample plate with 4 different ones. Hatch chilis were fire roasted and excellently prepared into sauces and chili. Sopapilos were almost pillow size! Inside was a sports bar vibe but not loud. We will definitely return for authentic, delicious New Mexican meals and for happy hour on outside patio with our pup. Pretty Good Food (improved but still needs help - it is a far cry from typical tasteless Sonoran garbage though), Super Service, but nope, way too much noise as the Ambiance is like eating in an empty warehouse. This place is newer. I saw complaints of service being slow, but this wasn't my experience. Our server, Miranda, was wonderful attentive, and food came to us in under 15 minutes. I had the shredded beef taco plate. Beans were great, the tacos were filled just right, and the flavor was there. My husband ordered Chili con Carne. The red sauce is very hot. They do offer a green sauce that is much more mild. The ambiance definitely needs to be worked on, as it is extremely lacking warmth and decor. We were happy to find this restaurant. We are from New Mexico and have found that most "Mexican" food in the area around Tucson is bland at best. At Goyitas, the chiles have some kick and some flavor. We like both their red chile sauce and their green sauce. The refried beans are good too. Their skinny Margarita is really good--not too sweet, and the drinks are inexpensive compared to other restaurants around. The surroundings are pleasant, although it's in a strange place (the side of an Ashley furniture store). There are plenty of tvs mounted around the bar if you are into the sports bar scene. Our Server [Arris] gave us a helpful quick overview on the chili spice Level (I LoVe SpiCe!) and quickly found my new favorite a red sauce in a rich beef base. The Huevos Rancheros were amazing! It's obvious the restaurant makes homemade Rice and Beans, as well as the corn tortillas. Just had dinner with my wife at Goyita's in Sahuarita. A very pleasant experience, we were greeted as soon as we walked in and no sooner than we were seated we were introduced to Brandy our server. She took our drink order and brought us chips and salsa. The chips are clearly house made and the salsa was tasty with a nice level of heat. She returned a couple of minutes to take our dinner order, wife ordered the steak fajitas and I ordered the small combination plate. The steak fajitas were fantastic, the steak was super tender and the veg had a nice char on them, the Taco, chili telling and enchilada on my plate were outstanding, oh and charro beans were nice as well. Tried this place a year ago and it left a lot to be desired. Decided to give it a second chance... horrible. I lived in NM and this place doesn't even compare to NM cuisine. The green chile dip... microwaved cheddar cheese with flavorless chopped green chiles and onion in it. Terrible service, they hardly acknowledge you when you walk in the door. And there was only 3 other customers in the restaurant. Waitress didn't bring us chips and salsa. The Goyitas in Oro Valley was 100x better, I'm not sure why this location falls short but will not be back. read more

They've been open about two months now. Service is great. Got seated right away. Food was excellent. Rice and beans both very tasty. Had Sopapillas for dessert and they were perfect. Two concerns. #1 Still no alcohol, but the license is approved and they are stocking up to open the bar "soon" in a week or so. #2 The place used to be a sports bar???? and still looks like it. Needs some New Mexican flavor decorations and colors, maybe a row of booths, as it lacks decor. Glad they are settled into a good routine now. Opening was a rough start; long waits and poor service. I've had 1 meal @this new New Mexican cuisine restaurant in Gren Valley, Az. They're still somewhat disorganized and have not gotten their liquor yet. They don't have any fish or seafood on the menu, but they do offer a delicious green chile clam chowder. The server suggested a small combo which included 1 each, taco, chile rellano, and enchilada. Refried beans & a tiny portion of rice. The quantity was good, but the taste was merely o.k. I will go back in a few weeks to give them the chance to smooth out the wrinkles. read more

So I ordered the Green chili chicken enchiladas, hubby had a Chimi with red sauce. They let us know the red sauce is hot which it was but really good. I am a native New Mexican. I just started working here in the beginning of May. I've been a server in Tucson since 1999 I've worked in many of people's favorite places like Joe's pancake house, hotrod's old vail, multiple Denny's, riches Cafe, tony romas and many more this is by far the cleanest restaurant I've ever laid eyes on. I would literally eat off the kitchen floor. I have never said anything like this or even left a review for a place I've worked. The food is amazing from what I've had the pleasure of trying so far and plan on having many meals here in the future. I drive an hour to work here. It's a wonderful family owned business with great food and a Great atmosphere. Lots of homemade recipes, fresh chips and salsa and some of the hottest enchilada sauce I've ever had. Shredded Beef Chimi was dry, ordered Ala Carte came with Rice & Beans. Tostas were to be 3 flavors but were all chicken, chicken not seasoned. We came in with one other table being used and 5 tables after us and we were served last. Owner spent to much time with people he knew. People that ordered after us were served first. The resturant has about 8 to 10 TV's and the inside is not very well decorated. Not a good experiance. read more
