If you want a quick bite, with delicious authentic Mexican food. This is one of the great places to come. It's a little hole in the wall Mexican food restaurant that has been here for decades. They have great options on authentic Mexican food, and you could also order takeout if needed. They have recently remodeled it, and everything is nice and clean and you. The staff does a really good job of upkeep in the place. The staff is really friendly accommodating, and they work fast and hard to bring out your food. I've been here several times in the past, and I usually get the menudo. It is always fresh, they bring you all of the condiments to put on it on the side. It comes with a side of bread with butter nice and toasted perfect for those days when you feel like a soup. On this trip we ordered the chorizo, well rancheros, and the Chilaquiles. They were all fantastic delicious flavor and me to order. One of the best parts about it is the beans that it comes with. Reminds me of being at my moms, or my Nanas house getting the beans straight from the pot and eating them. If you need a place to eat breakfast or lunch on the weekends. Make sure that you were ready to wait a little bit, they do get busy from time to time. But if you don't have a lot of time to order takeout and you will be very pleased with what you receive.

This place has a home cooked feel, with nana serving you and consistently trying to serve you more. The caldos here are my absolute favorite. The same can be said for many locals in the area who cam be seen waiting in line Saturday and Sundays with their ollas for menudo and fresh birote.

Menudo blanco pura carne and Menudo rojo with corn
    big sexy s.

Every time I visit Tucson from LA i come to this joint for menudo. They serve two kinds, white or traditional red menudo with or without the corn. I dig the White pura carne no corn. Hands down the best menudo in Tucson or LA in my opinion. I buy two 1 gallon buckets. One to enjoy with my family here in Tucson and one to freeze and take back to LA to enjoy.

The right side of the menu. Glad to see menudo without hominy as an option.

I arrived at this place and the parking lot was packed so a good sign; however, the parking lot layout is odd. The restaurant was very busy and it felt like I was eating in Mexico. I was glad to see menudo offered without hominy. It was my first time seeing white onions instead of green onions for menudo in the Tucson market. All other markets I've seen white onions. My meal started with complimentary chips and salsa. I wasn't a fan of the watery salsa. It was cool to see menudo with tripe only, but the broth wasn't too flavorful. Overall good place.

Jalisco offers a very inexpensive way to get some delicious tasting Mexican food. Their chile rellenos are tasty and their enchiladas have a wonderful rojo sauce along with being filled with Mexican cheese, not cheddar. You get a side of corn tortillas and all the chips you can eat. That's a good deal. The beans and salsa were somewhat average in taste but it's not a deal breaker by any means. The restaurant itself is pretty utilitarian in design with nothing flashy or colorful adorning the walls. Just a TV tuned in to some great Mexican soap operas that you can understand no matter what language you speak. Jalisco is also a little store and offers a nice variety of sauces and tortillas. Service was great.

This restaurant also has groceries (canned goods, beverages, tortillas, bread,etc.). We tried a bean and cheese burro, carne asada burro, chicken quesadilla and a birria burro. The waitress and staff were friendly and fast. The food was just okay - nothing was great. The shredded chicken in the quesadilla was not very good. It seemed like almost every table was ordering the menudo (both red and white menudo / mostly red). So this place must be known for their menudo.

Very good "family" style restaurant. Quality exceeds prices, the staff here make you feel right at home when dinning here or takeout. We just had our first experience here and we'll definitely be back soon! The tortillas are freshly made here and they are very delicious. We for sure recommend coming in to enjoy a flavorful meal. By the way they also have live music too!

We won't see our friends for a while and we sat at the table talking. After paying our tab the waitress let us know we could stay to visit and offered to refill our waters if wanted. Very sweet. These Pastries Should Probably Be Illegal…read more Prep & Pastry has been serving Tucson since 2014, and after eating here, I completely understand why they've built such a loyal following. This review is only about the pastries because the rest of their menu deserves an entirely separate review. The first thing I noticed was how incredibly light and airy everything was. Every bite felt fresh, fluffy, and perfectly balanced. The frosting wasn't overly sweet, and nothing tasted heavy or overwhelming. As I've gotten older, I've become much more conscious about what I eat. Surprisingly, these pastries never leave me with that "I shouldn't have done that" feeling. They're indulgent without being excessive. Now let's address the real issue... I always buy two. Not because I'm planning ahead. Because I know exactly what's going to happen if I don't. I'll eat one in the parking lot, sit there for a minute pretending I'm satisfied, then make what is almost certainly an illegal U-turn and head back inside for another. At this point, I believe the owners should stand trial in a savory Food Court of Law. Dun... Dun... "In the Criminal Food Justice System, pastry-based crimes are considered especially delicious. In Tucson, the dedicated foodies who investigate these sugary felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Pastry Unit. These are their stories." Prep & Pastry is guilty of making "I'll just have one" the biggest lie you'll tell yourself all week. Whether you're stopping by for breakfast, brunch, or simply because life is better with a great pastry, this place delivers. WIT Inspection Score: -- Truly Among the Best.

The line was really long, so we used the iPad they provide to place our order. We selected a matcha, but the iPad never gave us the option to choose between hot or iced. We assumed it would come iced, which is our mistake for assuming. When our order came out, the matcha was hot. We went inside and politely asked if there is any chance we could get it iced instead since there was no option on the iPad. The owner herself took the drink and remade it, which we appreciated, but her attitude toward us after was unnecessary. She told us that next time we should order directly with them because we just "wasted their cups" and so on. We apologized again and explained that we would have selected iced if the iPad had actually given us that option, but she didn't really acknowledge what we were saying. What made the experience more disappointing is that I work in coffee myself, so I understand what it's like when things get busy. I chose Barista Del Barrio out of all the coffee shops in the area specifically because I'm Latino and wanted to support a Latino-owned business. I even tipped when I placed the order on the iPad, so I was disappointed with how we were treated over something as simple as an ordering-system issue.
