I finally made it to P&Ms! I was in Tucson running errands after taking my dog to a vaccine clinic. I chose this place because it's dog-friendly. Dark clouds were moving in from the South so I wasn't sure if the patio was still open when I walked in at 3:15pm on a Friday. I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. While the patio was open, the host did tell me it was windy and that I could sit inside with my dog in the covered dining area off the patio. "Is she friendly?" he asked me. "As long as no other dogs are around!" I replied. My dog was tired from her vaccines and was very quiet. She lay down and snoozed throughout my meal, although I did toss her some chicken when no one was looking. I was only the third table back there. I ordered chips and salsa ($1 extra) and my Chicken Burro enchilada style came out moments later. Service was excellent throughout my meal. I ordered the sour cream-green chile sauce over my burro. It was very tasty! The chicken was good, but the rice was very salty. The flour tortilla was thick, too. I ate it all because I was hungry. I like how this restaurant is designed. The bar is in the front, separated by a long hall way that then opens into two separate dining areas. One dining area is its own room and both face the patio. The patio has a large cascading water fountain that I'm sure is lovely on a summer evening. I will definitely be back! read more

Ever since a trip to ABQ, I have been craving good hatch chile sauce like what I had there. We don't have many options for New Mexican style Mexican food in Tucson, so I appreciate the few spots we have that are trying to keep the style alive here! It saddens me to say this about a long-time Tucson staple, but I was not a huge fan of Poco and Mom's. I got the Silver City breakfast and added red chile pork. It's hash browns smothered with onion, green chile sauce, eggs, red chile pork, and cheese. I will start off by saying that the green chile sauce was good; tangy and flavorful. However, I did not enjoy the taste or texture of the hash browns - to me, they tasted like they were rehydrated dry hash browns from a box. The red chile pork was dry and tough, but the red chile sauce itself was fine. This breakfast was accompanied by a side of refried beans, which were on the blander side compared to most I've had at restaurants in Tucson. Another person in my party had the New Mexico red chile enchilada. This is where things went more downhill. The red chile sauce tasted bitter and almost burnt, nothing like I've had in New Mexico. It was not good. Their dish came with a side of rice which was also very underwhelming. The flavor was fine, but it didn't have that light and fluffy texture that good Mexican rice does - it was more dense and slightly gummy. The last person in our party got a ground beef chimi and didn't enjoy the flavor of the seasoning used on the ground beef. Could be a personal preference thing. They did enjoy the sauce it was smothered with, though. I did enjoy the atmosphere in Poco and Mom's. It is very cozy and the southwestern decor was charming. Our waitress was also great! I may be back to try their drinks or their sopapillas, but I don't think I'd return for anything else. read more

Average overall is the best way to describe it. Sat outside and the ambience was great. Service was also good, no complaints. Food was around average for Tucson Mexican I'd say. Margaritas were above average; wife got the prickly pear and I got the green chile and we both liked them. Chips and salsa were average. They did cost $2, but it was a big bowl and we got a free refill so no complaints from me. My entree is the main way this place fell flat. I tried the three combo plate and it was pretty much 0/3. We knew they had a beautiful patio for dining, so we decided to go there for lunch. Turns out all the tables with umbrellas were taken, so we sat in the room just off the patio, with the big doors wide open, so it was still ok. Their menu is extensive, with something for everyone. Updated review of long time local favorite Poco & Moms . It's been since before Covid era that I've been back although I do enjoy their New Mexican style green hatch chili styled options . Stopping during busy day helping neighbor friend recovering from orthopedic surgery we found accessibility parking on the west or Sw side of building to the avoid several steps in front. With a separate bar are in front , a separate dining area inside which opens to a " lovely patio outside we were able to be seated during lunch . Big menu , breakfast , lunch , dinner with many choices . Neighbor had posole which she said was pork based but tasty / filling . I went with my favorite 2 chili rellenos with the rich green chili sour cream sauce ( 3 different choices) , refried beans , calabacitas , & flour tortilla. The rellenos are tasty with the rich sour cream green chile sause, beans, & rustic cut calabacitas It's consistently still very good . The staff & servers very friendly and attentive , even the cook ! Long time Tucson sports journalist Steve Rivera from SAnte Fe ,NM ( whom I'm a loyal afternoon listener to his " eye on the ball " 1450 am local sports talk shown m-f 3-5 pm ) touts this as his favorite Tucson restaurant reminding him of home which says it all ! Big menu including big diverse breakfast option too . One last challenge was only on shared bathroom & second was a long steep climb up long stairs to two very dated restrooms upstairs ( surprised to see Tucson lifestyles magazines offices there ) . That would be the only criticism but with an older building the only other restroom option. My neighbor friend happy with the posole ,filling & didn't have to wait at lunch time. A friend from Silver City, New Mexico came for a visit and we decided to head to P&M since we hadn't been there in some time. We ordered Huevos Rancheros and a Santa Fe Breakfast while the spouse ordered their Spicy Hatch Green Chile Enchiladas with guacamole and sour cream. The huevos and Santa Fe dishes were tasty. The spouse remarked favorably about real sour cream on her dish rather than the standard "squeeze bottle trail in the sand" so prevelant in Tucson these days. Service was excellent. One does not go to P&M for their inside ambiance. Chips and salsa still cost extra. I lost the battle for sopapillas to ice cream. For the second time in several weeks I got distracted from taking any pictures. read more

New Mexico-style Mexican food, which means Hatch green chiles everywhere--and I'm not mad about it. I ordered the carne asada and eggs plate and it absolutely hit. The steak was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and the portions were generous, especially for a $15 dish. Scrambled eggs, refried beans, and a warm medium tortilla rounded it out into a really satisfying meal. Service was also great--our waiter was super friendly and on top of refills for water, iced tea, and coffee. All around, a solid experience and a place I'd happily come back to. read more

This place quickly became a top 5 for New Mexican cuisine. Haven't found good New Mexican food ( love hatch chiles) outside of New Mexico... but today we did! I appreciate the generous use of green chile and the potent flavoring of all their dishes (ps the red chile sauce is legit). The green chile fries had a bite from the chile.... and packed with flavor. The complimentary chips and salsa were enjoyed at the table as that salsa is a pretty good stand alone condiment! Reasonable prices and large quantities of food. Service was awesome... our server was totally friendly, attentive and had a positive vibe. The restaurant itself is a lot bigger than it looks from the road with two levels and a lovely outdoor patio for dining. It's a great place to bring guests visiting as well. Great spot for New Mexican style food. We both went with the combination plates. I chose the calabacitas as my side, and felt good about myself for that, but in all honesty the refried beans and rice was the better way to go. Loved everything in the combo, but the sour cream enchilada sauce on the relleno, was the star! Chips and salsa were amazing! AND they had root beer! Our server, Amanda, couldn't have been better. The Good: The entire New Mexican vibe: Hatch Green Chile Heaven! The Hatch Margarita was refreshing & spicy at the same time! Loved sitting outdoors by the water fountain under the umbrella! Our server, Alyssa was good. Now for the painful Bad: The meats in both the Red Pork Burro & Enchilada were mediocre-no outstanding taste and dry. I'm glad I ordered a side of green sauce ($1.99) to moisten and spice them both up. Yes, they were large portions, but I wasn't sure if we wanted to bring them home (we did so we could improve them with more salsa). I've driven by this place too many times and we finally stopped in for brunch on a Saturday. I'm super happy we stopped here. The space is open and airy. The vibe is friendly The staff is attentive and friendly. Great selection of local and Mexican dishes on the menu. We had a delightful New Mexico style breakfast. I am a huge Hatch Chile fan so I was excited to come and see the varieties of extra hot hatch chile dishes. Dropped into the bar to see an early UA basketball game on a Saturday. The bar is a small space, nothing fancy, but good sized tvs and fairly comfortable bars stools. Servers were awesome- super friendly and attentive, and happy to chat when they came by. One made a great suggestion not on the menu (that I could get my breakfast with half portions of two meats instead of having to pick just one). And the food was classic New Mexico. Eggs were cooked perfectly, hash browns were crisp, meats delicious. The salsa is a little bland, but totally acceptable with the hot crispy chips they served. read more

Well, the service was and always has been great! We were welcomed nicely. We sat at the bar, and right away, we got some water and asked if we wanted chips and salsa. We then ordered drinks: beer for me and a green chile margarita for the hubs! Let me tell you about that Margarita: It had actual chunks of green chile--not sweet, not half bad! We then ordered our food. I ordered my usual, spicy green chile chicken enchiladas with eggs on top and my love had the combo plate. Unsure if maybe they gave me the mild sauce but it was not spicy at all. Savory, yes. Rice and beans were ok. Lots of food, brought half home with us. Overall ok, not great unfortunately. Pulling in first impressions are very nice, large and spacious parking. We were greeted immediately upon entering and seated quickly. Drink orders were taken promptly, and complimentary chips and salsa were brought out also. We also ordered the Mexican pizza as a starter, which was outstanding. Very light and crispy with great flavor. Onto the entrees, all were outstanding. The pictures of all the food was an afterthought, so I apologize for the pics being taken post meal lol. Taco salad, nachos, Carne Asada chimichanga, Portions were great, and the nachos were huge. Fried ice cream was ordered for the dessert. Huge portion! Taste? Excellent! I'm a big fan of New Mexican cuisine, I never miss the chance to go to NM to enjoy the food. I never liked leaving because I knew it would be awhile before I returned, but now after eating at Poco and Moms I'm in heaven. The food is very New Mexican as as good any place in NM. The menu consists of all the things like Green Chile stew too enchiladas, breakfast items and of course stuffed Sopaipilla, which I had. The menu is so extensive that I will be back. I will never go back. It was a cold and windy day and doors were wide open letting cold and wind blow in to the reception. I had to stand there in the cold and they would not close the doors or seat me. I was waiting for a friend but could not get seated where it was warm! When she did come we were seated and there were empty tables available. I was soooo cold from the cold reception area. Never again! Will not go there. Will go next door to Canyons Crown. I ate lunch here yesterday with a friend. We ate at a table in the bar area to avoid the wait for a table in the main dining room. We split two dishes: a green chile corn tamale and a plate of two chile rellenos. Both came with scrambled eggs, refried beans, a flour tortilla, and a bowl of red salsa. I thought everything was great, especially the chile relleno and the salsa. Service was good too. My share of the bill came to $21.74 including tax and tip. read more

We have been going here for years and loved it. We mainly go for their excellent chile rellenos because of the thin breading, which allows you to primarily taste the chile. Lately however, the breading on the relleno is so thick that it's hard to find the chile: I had to scrape the breading off. Most other restaurants make thick, breaded rellenos., so we're very disappointed in this change. Possibly, they have new chefs? Also, I have never gotten over medium eggs; they're disgustingly runny and slimy. Even my husband, who likes his over easy, couldn't eat the eggs. We decided we'll give Poco & Mom's one more chance. Hopefully this review will be read and they'll go back to their old recipe with the rellenos. read more

I really can't comment a great deal because we were there for a rehearsal dinner and the menu was a buffet. However, the beef enchiladas were really amazing with a nice mole sauce and a nice spicy kick to it. I also tried the shredded brisket tacos which were very flavorful and, considering they were in chafing dishes, were nice and moist. Based on the meal we had at the Buffet, I wouldn't hesitate in stopping again to try something off the regular menu. read more
