We stopped in after a drive through Saguaro National Park. Our waitress, Hunter was friendly and offered suggestions for making a meal plant based. I had the vegetarian calabacita tacos. The plate came with three big tacos and they hit the spot. Others with me ordered burgers and said they were delicious especially with all the fixings. The meal was finished off with chocolate cake. There was a steady flow of customers coming and going and the restaurant was well staffed. Definitely recommend if you are in Tucson. read more

I still like Eclectic Cafe but I must suggest that they should rename one item. They have a tossed salad with nuts and grapes in it. They call it "Chopped Salad." Had a very lovely dinner at the Eclectic Cafe! The server was so helpful and offered a delicious varieties of iced tea. The prickly pear is delicious. The menu has so much to offer- Mexican / pasta/ burgers/ warm and cold salads!/ also plenty of vegie options We had a warm enchilada salad and albondogas soup and my step mom had quiche Lorraine and a salad. The Eclectic Cafe is a nice surprise. Everyone in your group will find something to order. The staff is (almost overly) friendly. You have choices between outdoor and indoor seating, tables and booths. I had a delightful veggie sandwich and cup of tortilla soup. The rye bread was sliced thick and was moist and very fresh. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile. It was difficult to decide what to order with so many options. I chose the Eclectic Chicken Salad on wheat with sweet potato fries and my son ordered the grilled Reuben with fries. My sandwich was wonderful. Everything tasted fresh! My son scarfed his meal down, too. It's really enough for two meals, but I ate it all at once! Can't wait to try many other items, especially dessert. I just got done doing GOAT Yoga at Udall Park and this little gem of a cafe was right next to it! I'm so glad I dropped in! Everything on a plate in this place is seriously delicious looking. I don't think you could go wrong. It's noon and they still offered the breakfast menu which is always a plus in my book. I had the Workout salad and there isn't a picture because I gobbled it up before I even thought about it. This is a MUST visit if anyone is in Tucson. This is a great family restaurant, conveniently located at Sabino Canyon & Tanque Verde. I used to go there for Sunday brunch years ago (omelettes and good coffee), and I had not returned for a few years. I was pleased to see that they remodeled, which looks great, and they now have a beer & wine license. The menu is huge, with a wide variety of American and Mexican dishes. If I could rate this dining experience as a negative five, I would. I went to the Eclectic Cafe for a late lunch to see if it was fit to bring a guest to. It was more than unfit. I was greeted with a staff member that must have had a bad day. When served ice tea with a sprig of mint, the sprig had dark green decaying bio matter, dead mint on the bottom of the leaf. When I brought it to the attention of the manager, she defended herself and said it was OK and not harmful. Yikes, I should have left at that moment. I ordered a tuna fish sandwich which is my indicator for good food at a restaurant. It was terrible, made from a low grade of tuna from a can. The staff was about as friendly as a prison guard delivering food to inmates. Needless to say, I would have been embarrassed to bring my guest to Eclectic Cafe. I will not return. They serve better food at a soup kitchen. Do not waste you money and time. There is a reason it is not a busy restaurant. read more

If you are looking for a great local hangout with fresh food, great service, pleasant people, and a cafe- or diner-like environment, then the Eclectic Cafe is looking for you ... and you better be looking for them. We ate lunch at the Cafe on a Thursday and we arrived to a very busy scene -- testament to their popularity in Tucson. We had to wait for a seat, but only for about 5-10 minutes, and we opted to sit outside. Fortunately, they have outdoor heaters and it was very comfortable even with the light rain dropping from the skies. For lunch, I had the chicken and chorizo quesadilla. They provide a very large quesadilla filled with plenty of cheese, abundant chorizo, and peppers. It came with a pile of Mexican salad and a small bowl of pico de gallo. The server also brought a warm roll with butter. We also ordered some very good, thick-cut French Fries that we snarfed down. I'm a bit of a quesadilla aficionado and this one was one of the better ones I've tasted. They pack in the chorizo and that was a pleasant surprise. Just. So. Tasty! Also, the service was impeccable, friendly, and prompt. I've also been exchanging Twitter messages with @eclecticcafe and they are as friendly online as they are in-person. Great job, Eclectic Cafe! Eclectic is always a treat. Large portions of relatively healthy foods, well seasoned.

The service here was good. The food was awful. Absolutely awful. I ordered avocado toast. Restaurants are doing great things with avocado toast. Not hard to do. Get great bread. Smash an amazing avocado. Add some interesting toppings. Bam. This place used plain, flavorless sourdough bread, spread an avocado on top with a little cheese and thought it was appropriate to charge $14 dollars for this horrible dish. My son had a breakfast burrito that was flavorless at best. We ate hardly anything and paid $45 dollars. I haven't felt that ripped off in a long time. Someone needs to introduce the chef to spices. read more

A friend suggested this place when she found out we were in Tucson for the weekend. I checked out the Yelp reviews and the menu and decided we'd give it a try. Usually those restaurants that serve a little bit of everything have a tendency to only have one or two dishes that are REALLY good. The reviews of this place make it look like they do more than just one or two good ones. I ordered the Albacore Melt and my SO ordered the Turkey & Havarti Sandwich, we both got friends. First, and most important, Havarti cheese was on both of our sandwiches - and we adoreeeee Havarti! They nailed BOTH of these items. I couldn't have been happier, it was the perfect amount of tuna and melty cheese and tomato. The fries were terrific too. It's a comfortable restaurant, kind of a family or diner style of comfort. But the furniture is in better condition and a little more comfortable. I was impressed with the staff, they were dressed and behaved more like what you'd find in a 'finer' restaurant than what you'd find in a family/diner style. They worked on the team concept, which means that you never had to wonder if you'd see your wait person again - if something needs to be done someone walks by your table and does it (drink order, takes order, checks on table, clears items, whatever). One of my favorite restaurants in Tucson!! Fresh, delicious and the service is great! They serve amazing breakfast, great lunches and delicious diner! Their to-go options are perfect too. Used to be one of our favorites as we live in the area. They used to have terrific servers-Jackie, Jacob, Lauren, etc. The service has been disappointing the last couple of times we have eaten there. Tonight we didn't even stick around to order. The staff that was working was very indifferent tonight. The tall dark haired Mgr/server was there tonight and greeted us with the usual "sit anywhere". There were a couple of booths open and all the center tables were available. The patio tables were all open. We choose a booth and waited. and waited. and waited. and waited. Lots of servers there tonight, 2 bussers and no one brought menus or water or said be with you soon. When we noticed the server/manager still standing up front just texting on his cell phone we decided to leave. Been coming here for some years. The service is super fast and friendly, the food comes out fairly quickly, but for what it is the prices are a little high. The different choices in freshly brewed iced teas are great. The food has always been good and pretty consistent. It has a diner homey feel to it. Their menu is appealing to families and offers a variety of options for different tastes ranging from American to Mexican and in between. They run daily specials. The Eclectic is a favorite of ours. The food is always fresh and beautifully prepared. The Eclectic chicken salad is especially nice when scooped into the hollow of a perfectly ripe avocado. Add a tall ice tea and I'm there. The menu is diverse. Mexican food is wonderful here. Tacos, flautas, enchiladas and more await you. Lots of food for your money. read more
