This a regular spot for us - I've never had anything there that I didn't like but my favorite is their salads, particularly the spinach artichoke salad! But what makes the experience here even more memorable is the customer service. Being a regular at a restaurant doesn't always guarantee that the staff will remember you or recognize you as a regular. At Eclectic Cafe they not only recognize us a regulars, but remember our usual drink and food orders. More than one staff will take time to stop by and say "Hi guys nice to see you again" even if they aren't serving our table. It's experiences like this that keep us coming back. I've visited here quite a few times but hadn't been in a long while till last night. A friend of mine and I started coming here when they had a Groupon a few years ago, and we kept returning. We always order the same thing, because it's pretty damn good: Gordo's chicken and chorizo quesadilla and a shredded beef chimi with Christmas sauce. Once again, the food didn't disappoint. I was seated right away despite it being quite busy at 5:30 on a Wednesday. The service was attentive and friendly. Our iced teas were never empty, and our server even offered us each large cups of tea to go. I love the mango and apricot iced teas. The atmosphere is cozy but could stand to be updated a bit as well as the bathrooms, but no matter. They have local art for sale on the walls, which is pretty cool too. I had been wanting to come here for a while and I got a coupon so I finally did. There were so many delicious looking options it was hard to chose, I got the eclectic club, with a side salad and a cup of tortilla soup. I got my baby a chicken and bean burrito and fruit from the kids menu. My food was great, the salad was beautiful and had many vegetables on it. My baby loved her burrito, it was also HUGE so we had left overs. I got a banana bread on the way out and it turned out to be fabulous too. Very large menu includes many salad options. Seems to be popular with the lunch crowd. The outside patio is pleasant and thankfully the music is soft enough to hold a normal conversation. We appreciated the friendly host and waiter, both wearing masks. read more

I know this review is going to get me a lot of flak nevertheless here I go. I like this place, the food is good the portions are large it's comfortable and the service is very good... inventive salads, sandwiches and soups with a strong mexican flair. I've eaten here three times I've enjoyed it each time. So what's the problem Bill, why are you couching these remarks? Remember that I give ratings based on price. I recently had a salad, iced tea with $3 tip and it came to 21.46. An equivalent meal at Beyond Bread would have come to 13.03. Allowing for the $3 tip, this place is almost 40% more expensive than Beyond Bread. Let's say this place would be four stars aside from the rather high prices. read more

I visit the Eclectic Cafe quite often when I am in Tucson for business. I am a vegetarian, and and they have an amazing array of vegetarian-friendly entrees, soups, and salads. I've enjoyed their warm salads, garden burger (served with a large side salad), raspberry iced tea (caffeine-free, which is fantastic), chocolate cake (rich and full of chocolate chips), and quesadillas. They also have plenty of healthy options for meat-eaters. Be sure to ask for a "Tucson Originals" card when you dine at Eclectic Cafe. Ultimate Veggie Burrito and the Veggie Burger FTW!!! Not if these are gems! The burger is surprisingly delicious, I wouldn't say meaty, but delicious, much better than any other veggie burger I've tried. The burrito is just die hard filling and scrumptious. I ordered food from them on grub hub. Chips, salsa and guacamole. They brought to the hospital the salsa and guacamole but no chips... they refunded me $3.80 when that item was $7.49. And I'll mention that I Generously tipped the driver $10 dollars. I called the restaurant to complain and they told me to call grub hub... grub hub did not make the mistake to forget the chips the restaurant did. So I called Grubhub and they had to call the restaurant and I was only able to receive half the credit. The restaurant asked me to come get the chips... really!??? I am in the hospital and I told them that and could not leave. I will never eat from here again. This was ridiculous. I guess ill eat my salsa and guacamole w a spoon instead of chips! Came here for dinner, after calling ahead to confirm our arrival time and business operation hours, we were assured there would be ample time for a full meal experience. However the execution was anything but stellar. The wine by glass was soured. We did receive a new one. Then, the restaurant failed to execute bringing the entree we ordered. After ordering a half sandwich and half salad, I was only presented the salad. The waiter forgot the rest of the meal. Further more, the owner rudely announced a closure without any warning, when we were assured we had time to finish our meal. This place has horrible service. Steer clear. read more

The Eclectic Cafe is an American/Mexican restaurant that specializes in fresh ingredients, great service, and some original recipes. Cafe is the right word, as it is not as formal as many dinner places, but still offers some incredible dishes, including what I think is some of the best Chicken Tortilla Soup you may find on the East side of town. I personally enjoy their warm salads paired with a bowl of chicken tortilla soup, but you can still mix it up with their sandwiches, Mexican food, or other options. They are a great stop for breakfast, lunch, or dinner so if you are headed to Sabino Canyon or Saguaro Park stop by and give it a try. read more

Despite living on the East side for nearly 20 years, this was only perhaps my fourth visit to Eclectic Cafe. It's a cozy little restaurant tucked into an aging strip mall on one of the busiest intersections in town. The inside is painted in warm colors and features beautiful paintings which appeared to be by local artists. The menu is extensive and has many, many dishes that would be good choices. I quickly chose the Francisco's Enchilada Salad, as I have never had anything called an enchilada salad before. It arrived almost immediately -- less than five minutes after I ordered it. This would usually be a good thing during my lunch hour, but it did not bode well for the quality of the food. The salad was large, fresh, and beautiful, with bright green slices of avocado, crumbles of queso fresco, chicken soaked in red guajillo sauce, tiny halved jalapeños, and topped with crisp tortilla strips. The salad was accompanied by a jar of red salsa that was just piquant enough, without overwhelming the flavor of the dish. Underneath the salad, I found a pair of corn tortillas soaked in the delicious guajillo sauce. The only real fault with the dish was the chicken, which was slightly dry and slightly tough. When the plate arrived so quickly, my first thought was "How did they have time to grill the chicken?" They didn't; it was pre-cooked. And for this, it suffered. Some of the tomatoes were also under-ripe and had hard, flavorless white centers. Every other aspect of the salad was perfect. Eclectic Cafe's menu is huge and many of their items are unique, at least in my experience. The fast service got me back to work with 20 minutes to spare in my lunch hour and while this would usually be a benefit, I would have waited that extra 20 minutes if it had meant better chicken. Still, I would be happy to return to Eclectic and sample more of their local delights. read more

Ah I just LOVE this cafe; one could easily be surprised that this is not your ordinary cafe even with the name. They throw a lovely twist, original thought to all of your regular Mexican & American dishes. This last visit I enjoyed the chicken and mushroom crepes. They had a surprisingly sweet sauce, for savory crepes, so I added some splashes of the table hot sauce and it was perfect! The buggy ordered the jalapeño sauce chicken pasta that had just the right kick, wasn't overly saucy, it was just right. The service was prompt and kindly. The only downside is the size of the building and the love of the cafe makes it very noisy. Even the table chairs are nice and cushioned so it's worth the one con. read more

I love the menu option of Eclectic but I have an allergy to celery. Tonight I ordered the curry chicken salad to go and told the host over the phone there was an allergy to celery and to leave it out of the salad since it was clearly stated to be an ingredient on their menu. Upon getting home with my salad I discovered that they had not excluded the celery. It's disappointing that they fail to pay attention to food allergies carefully. read more

I had not been to the Eclectic for a long time but always had a good meal there. Unfortunately, I returned recently and found my turkey melt to be dry and overpriced. What's worse, I ate on the patio across from a couple with 2 large dogs. The dogs smelled and the couple were feeding them from the table---- they were also eating on the floor. (the dogs I mean) I asked the manager about their dog policy and she told me it was acceptable to have animals on the patio and did not find my complaint about the dogs odor, eating, etc., to be of any concern. She was actually very rude. Of course, I won't return and will tell my friends about this experience. If any of you don't mind overpriced mediocre food and dining with dogs, go ahead, try the Eclectic, but don't say I didn't warn you! read more

This is one of my top five favorite restaurants in Tucson. I always have a good experience here. I first started coming to Eclectic around five years ago when they we're running some sort of two salads and two iced teas for $20 summer specials. That's how I got hooked. The iced tea is my favorite in Tucson (not counting "tea shops"). I usually get the mago, but they also have plain black, prickly pear, and decaf apricot. They're really good about keeping my glass full. I really appreciate that! This is my go to spot when I want a salad. There's over a dozen to choose from including several that are offered as half sized portions. My current favorites are the mango curry chicken salad (that's chicken on a green salad, not chicken salad) and the spinach artichoke salad. The menu also has quiche, sandwiches, Mexican, and breakfast on the weekends. They often experiment with new limited time items over the summer and I recommend you try them while they're available. Last summer there was a pesto burrito that was great and this summer I'm enjoying their take on a Sonoran hot dog. The services is friendly and efficient. The one time I ordered something a didn't like (some breakfast item was too oniony for me, can't remember which) and they offered to take it off my bill and bring me something new when they noticed I wasn't eating it. I didn't even have to ask! For me they are a bit out of the way on the Eastside (I live NW), but totally worth it. read more

We visited Eclectic Cafe for Sunday brunch. It was busy, but there was no wait upon our arrival around 9am. They have a wide variety of brunch items on the menu. These include traditional brunch fare (pancakes, French toast, eggs, etc.) and some other items such as breakfast burritos. There are also healthy options. Everyone was happy with what they ordered. I personally had the whole wheat pancakes which were a unique and delicious take on pancakes. Eclectic Cafe's pancakes have a cinnamon flavor--kind of like a cinnamon roll--but not overpowering nor super sweet. The service was excellent. Waitstaff were very friendly, courteous, and attentive. Coffee refills came around regularly. Even though we visited for brunch, I was envious of the beer chalk board. Eclectic has a lot of local craft brews on tap, and I wished it was later in the day so I could order one! Overall a nice little place on the east side of Tucson. read more

Update review. It's about time....pro's food is fast and delicious! Honestly had one incident with moldy green bread coming out and it was very quickly handled. Con's is mainly 1 server. Next time when I go back in ( if I can strike up the courage ) I will find out the name and mention it to the manager and here. I'm sorry, Normally not a fan of getting anyone in trouble, but the specific server is just terrible. Gosh! How can people give this high of rating to this restaurant. Lots of. Juices but I'd rather go to a place that makes things fresh rather than the food sitting aground til somebody orders it. We had the quesadillas and not sure when the were made but it wasn't made to order...greasy, tasteless. We've eaten there once before and it was my brother's choice of restaurant not mine! I have to drop my rating a bit. In my more recent visits I have been having the same issue. I'm hesitant to recommend this business to friends and family. I have been going here for many years now and over the last 2 years I have been having the same issue again and again. The server keeps getting my order wrong. Without fail, I will order my meal (usually without onions or something) and it comes out lathered in onions. I know for a fact that my entree can be made with no onions since I have been ordering it that way for like the last decade. I wouldn't be so frustrated if I didn't have to argue the fact every time. The server's default move is to always accuse me of having not said anything. So I tested it out! Made sure the next few times I went there with people and made sure to point out what I said. Doesn't matter, I always get blamed. So, I held my ground. Said it was NOT my fault. Then the server comes back and says that my entree cannot be made without onions. Weird, because I got it that way for the last 10 years... This place is awesome, or at least it used to be. It sucks too because the food is SOOO GOOD. I can safely say all my issues are with the server. And some how I end up with the same one every time... read more

We heard about the Chowder. We were disappointed. There weren't many clams, like 1, and there were a bunch of carrots. Also, it had a spicy peppery taste to it. We had the burger. Man that was good. We saw a review on another website and decided to try it. There were lots of people in line and it took only 15 minutes though to get seated. Very attentive service and many choices. I had the enchilada salad and wife had chicken salad sandwich with chicken and rice soup. Lots of craft beers to select from as well. Flan was tasty and a nice way to end our meal. It may the neighborhood but much of the crowd here were white seniors (60 plus) coming in with grandkids or children. In San Francisco you would never see this kind of crowd - it would be 20 - 30 year tekkies or Asians. And then again you would never find a restaurant like this in the Bay Area. My only complaint is that food was a little bland. But yes, this definitely was worth the 15 minute drive ! read more

This is a go to place for any veggie! Or non veg really! I love this spot! The patio is dog friendly. The food, oh the food! So much food, so much deliciousness it's ridiculous! Everything is very fresh! I've never had something I didn't like here. It's not over cooked or over seasoned, or greasy which you find at a lot of places. The staff is friendly, normally they are pretty good even the it constantly being so busy. Last time I was there, I had a few gripes about the very forgetful waitress. But I will still go back. Ordered the Traditional Enchiladas con Calabacitas with Mexican Rice and Refried Beans and I am SUPER FULL! The only thing I would have changed was to put cojita or queso fresco on top instead of the typical American orange, melted shreds of cheddar--and I'm only saying that because the thang is cheeeeeeeeesy! I figured this would be a good place to take my parents, and it was. The menu is varied (although perhaps not quite as eclectic as the name might imply--it covers a lot of ground, but nothing that unusual for Tucson--soup, salad, sandwiches, Mexican, and American staples) such that everyone could have something they wanted to eat. Basically simple, uncomplicated food. I choose the quiche of the day, which was not bad, but not perfect. This quiche contained artichoke, and a percentage of the artichoke pieces inside were leaves, some of which came from too far outside the flower and were too tough to chew through, so it felt like getting a piece of printer paper mixed into every third bite. Most of them were OK. The quiche itself was a bit more watery and non-cohesive than I like my quiche. The crust was good and the overall flavor was fine. My mom had a salad that she enjoyed, and my dad had enchiladas, which I found underwhelming, with a standard sauce and tortillas. Stepdaughter had kids' chicken fingers (nicely breaded, very crunchy, a bit dry) with good fries; it was a lot of food (more than I would expect from a kid's plate) and she couldn't eat all of it. Stepson had a soup and sandwich. He ate the entire sandwich and most of the soup. It might have been half a sandwich and half a cup of soup. Service was pretty fast and very friendly. Water glasses were mostly kept full. This is a good restaurant, particularly for people who want to know what to expect from the start and aren't looking for adventure. read more
