    Rare **Bistro 44 Burger RARE

I will never return to this place. I ordered a medium hamburger and it came rare. The manager sent two different waitresses over to try to convince me that it was medium and said if they make another burger for me, they're going to charge me for two burgers. Needless to say, I sent the burger back and left. Their food is pretty good, but Dina, Tracy and Shelly have no idea how to treat customers. It was really unbelievable actually.

This place has a couple of specials that were awesome. They have a Sunday burger special and an early bird special. The group I was with enjoyed their meals as did I. Service was good and the price was fair.

After a long morning in Sabino Canyon, we were able to walk to this bar for happy hour and wine/beer. I had a wedge salad and was amazed at the amount of bacon and cheese on it! Husband had three sliders and I had one and he finished the salad. Lots of locals here, and a few tourists. Would totally recommend the establishment, especially for HH. Service was incredibly attentive, too.

The service at this restaurant was excellent. Our server was very attentive. The ambience was casual and comfortable. I ordered the brazed ribs with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The asparagus was phenomenal. I enjoyed the braised ribs and mashed potatoes.

Lunch before, dinner now. Our hostess was so warm she reminds me of a summer breeze. The ambiance felt dewy due to the typhoon that's coming, but it relaxed me. Most importantly- the food and drinks came at the perfect time and hit the perfect spot. Server did his job impeccably there's nothing to complain about. 4.5 stars. I'll be a comeback kid.

Our party of six rolled in for dinner on Wednesday evening. I called ahead and they reserved a table for us right behind a group of Tucson retirees who were break g down their trips, news about their families and all the haps at the retirement center. We were greeted and given an overview of the specials not listed on the menu. Most of us selected the 14oz Ribeye which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Bite size bread came out before the meal and was okay as something to munch on before the diner course arrived. The steaks were good sized, mashed was of good consistency and the veggies cooked well, not too hard or soft-right in between. The flavor on everything was a little bland honestly, I don't think any of it had seasoning. Salt and pepper were absolutely necessary and even then, didn't add all that much to the flavor. Good, but not great. I kinda expected a little more from a place that appears to be more upscale.

The…read moreseafood Newberg was phenomenal: ultra-generous serving of perfectly cooked shrimp, mussels, scallops, clams, crab, and hoki nestled in the most decadent and delectable saffron-infused cognac sauce with garlic, onions, carrots, potatoes, and asparagus; and topped with puff pastry. I may have never tasted anything more delicious. I took home more than enough for a fabulous lunch. The hub wasn't as thrilled. He's not that much of a seafood guy, enjoying ribs or steak previously, but he decided on the fish and chips for this outing. He's used to cod for battered fish and noted that hoki didn't hold together well, breaking into small pieces, some with breading and some without. The fish and the coating were under seasoned and bland. He wasn't happy with the fries, either. He expected regular fries as our server specified, but received shoestrings, some of which were overly crisp but the ones under the fish were soggy. He did praise the cole slaw. Although neither of us could finish our meal, we did order dessert. We shared the pecan caramel cheesecake and it was ridiculously delicious: smooth, tangy, and not too sweet. Just perfect. We managed to finish it and mentioned to the manager/owner? how good it was. He laughed and said no judging if we licked the plate. The ambiance of the dining room is elegance, almost vintage, and feels special. The restaurant was very busy, which I am thrilled to see, but quite noisy. We were so lucky to grab a parking space in the small front lot, because I have limited mobility. I would love a rail on either side of the small ramp because it is a little steep.

We had a booth seat which felt very intimate. My husband and I shared a bottle of non-alcoholic wine (side note: I love that they have a robust alcoholic and non-alcoholic menu). We tried the lab grown salmon crudo which was decent but not our favorite crudo. The texture was definitely different from real fish, but it was unique to try! I got the special which was a crab leg pasta with pesto and peppers. One of the best things I've had in Tucson. Can't wait to come back and try their oysters!

The seafood bag was the standout: we got shrimp (head off) with the "Atomic Sauce," a combination of cajun, lemon pepper, and garlic butter seasoning. It's super flavorful, and even though "Atomic" is in the name, it doesn't have to be spicy! You get to set your spice level when ordering. The one slight annoyance with the single-seafood bag is that the corn, potatoes, and andouille sausage were all add-ons with an upcharge -- to me, those are a standard part of a low country boil and should be included from the get-go. To be fair, they're included in the combos, though. I can't speak to the service, since we did takeout, but I'd certainly get a seafood boil from them again!

It took my friend and I forever to figure out what to order! We finally settled on the shrimp ceviche bowl to start - amazing and chock full of shrimp! It came with crackers and tostadas! I also got a fish and marlin taco - both were great and full of flavor. I really enjoyed the red spices on the marlin! I also enjoyed my side salad (although the dressing options could have been better) , the best side was the white rice with a few veggies thrown in - the flavor was so great, I could have eaten this all day!
