Caesar salad with salmon
Joy S.

Finally tried this restaurant. The good things... Food was great. Our server was excellent (Schuyler). They kept our water glasses filled. Ambiance was relaxing. They sat us at a table away from crowds. Fun for a special evening out. The not-as-good things...There didn't seem to be a way to reserve for the patio through Open Table, maybe we needed to call directly to restaurant. Food took quite awhile to come to us. The Happy Hour menu is only good in the bar and patio, not the main restaurant.

Got there at 6:30, glad we made reservations! Server was on point let us know the specials of the evening , answered our questions about the menu and bar selections. Food had great flavor and was cooked just how we ordered. Nothing left to be desired.

Petite filet dinner.

I've eaten here several times and will be coming back. I asked to be seated further from the bar and it was very nice. Happy hour at the bar is great but gets noisy. I've had fish in the past but opted for the petite filet as did my two companions. It was excellent. it was cooked the way I requested and was tender with a very tasty sauce. I also had the baked potato and asparagus with a garlic butter sauce. Service was excellent. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed the food and intend to come back often.

Interesting space... cozy and tucked away from the main road you don't notice how big and yet intimate this restaurant is. It has indoor and outdoor seating. One unique feature here is the addition of wild game meats to their menu ( elk, bison, venison etc) as well as seafood options. They have a pretty good happy hour at the bar and a daily bar special... on Thursday it was a delicious burger. In addition we tried the ribs (Carolina bbq sauce... so think mustard), the prime rib strips and bacon wrapped shrimp. Everything was delicious! Service was friendly... kitchen was really quick with getting food out despite how busy they were. Will return.

Blackened calamari

Good option on the east side if you're looking for a steakhouse to celebrate a special occasion/date! My husband and I have been here twice so far (once for a regular menu and recently for Sonoran Restaurant Week) and have left satisfied with our meals overall. The Cork's menu emphasizes meats and seafood with some unique options for game meat if you're adventurous. Appetizers Thoughts: - Bread basket - herby and buttery bread - Blackened calamari - we've had this twice and it's been consistent with the calamari not being chewy at all and the charred salty seasoning went well with the acidity of the lemon sauce - Wild game trio (bison, venison, and kangaroo) - my husband ordered this, and the venison was his favorite of the 3; something to try at least once in his opinion but would not necessarily order again Entrees Thoughts: All come with 2 sides - Petite Filet - cooked perfectly medium rare - Teriyaki NY Strip - my husband was surprised by how much he enjoyed the teriyaki sauce on the steak, also cooked perfectly - Ribeye special - topped with mushroom sauce which was also delicious - Macadamia-nut crusted halibut - a large portion and a bit on the drier side, wish there was a bit more of the sauce - Sides: the loaded baked potatoes are truly loaded, garlic mashed potatoes are good if you're a fan of garlic, charred broccolini is pretty good The dessert tray is impressive. The birthday brownie we got was chocolately goodness. The cheesecake and tart special were good if you're looking for lighter options.

Course 3: Mushroom Pistachio Salad

Fair warning, this may be a good bit longer than my usual - but I've got a lot of deliciousness to unpack here :) I was excited to attend The Cork's first of an upcoming series of wine dinners, and they set the bar high with a deliciously executed time machine theme - "Michelin Through the Years". This masterfully curated culinary selection transported us through some truly iconic dishes by legendary Michelin-starred chefs (and props for the hand-drawn Back to the Future-inspired Delorean on the menu that was an appropriate nod to the sheer breadth of culinary history we enjoyed). The entire staff was top notch from front of house to the kitchen - incredibly attentive, kind, professional, and everything moved smoothly even with it being held in one of The Cork's signature cozy spaces. From start to finish, it was a night to remember and I highly recommend checking out one of their wine dinners if you have the opportunity - the investment is money well spent! I've posted the menu photo for full details on each course, but here's my spark-notes: Course 1: Salmon Tartare Cornet A delicious and delicate first bite - the cornet of marinated Atlantic salmon with sweet onion crème fraîche was paired with a crisp Bertrand Crémant Rosé 2021. Started the evening on a light and crispy note. Course 2: Lobster Thermidor A rich and indulgent follow up was the Lobster Thermidor. The Gruyère topping came out of the broiler perfectly golden and was paired with The Stag's Leap Chardonnay 2023. Course 3: Mushroom Pistachio Salad This was my hands down favorite part of the whole meal! This quirky-sounding salad was laid down on a base of an amazing, hand-crafted pistachio butter, and the different textures and flavors came together in all the best ways - it was earthy, delightful, and totally unexpected. Paired with The Erath Reserve Pinot Noir 2021. Course 4: Tournedos Rossini This was a showstopper and my second favorite (and ya'll I was so full at this point, but ate every last bite of this course because it was that good)! The combo of perfectly seared tournedo over toasted brioche as the crouton, topped with foie gras caramel and shaved black truffle -- pure luxury. The purée and pickled baby carrots added a vinegary balance, and the potato pavé was perfectly crispy and flavorful. Paired with Borgogno Barolo 2020. Course 5: "Oops! I Dropped the Lemon Tart" This adventure through time ended with an unexpected object lesson for life - Chef Massimo Bottura maintained that mistakes are not failures, but rather opportunities for creativity and innovation and that's the inspo on this dish. This famous lemon tart known for originating from a kitchen error, turned life lesson, was amazing - the lemongrass ice cream was the perfect creamy balance of flavors and all the components on the plate worked together to top off a night of fine dining with a sweet and whimsical golden finale. Paired very well with The Château Carmes Rieussec Sauternes 2020. If you are still reading - I hope this gives a peek into what to expect at these exceptionally special events. I came away feeling like I was given a seat at a table of culinary history and am absolutely looking forward to the next concept they offer!

This is one of my husband's favorite places to get a fancy meal (especially when he's craving surf and turf). The cocktails and mocktails are always delicious, and the food is consistently good and cooked to our preference. My go to is usually one of their seafood dishes. Most recently I had the salmon with broccolini and garlic mash potatoes. I highly recommend this place when you are celebrating a special occasion or have family visiting.

Sonoran Restaurant Week Menu

What a wonderful addition to the Sonoran Restaurant week! The prefixed menu came with multiple dishes but I started with the Wild Game Trio with Bison, Kangaroo, and venison, which was very tender and delicious, and the Grilled Halibut with Charred Broccolini, and Garlic Butter Asparagus were amazing, and for dessert the marzipan lemon cheesecake with fresh blueberries made for the perfect meal. Matthew our server was very friendly and engaging, and attentive to our needs. Everything was spot on and I can't wait to go back.

Birthday brownie dessert and birthday card

Met a friend to celebrate my birthday here. Was greeted with a birthday card and a friendly host and server. (We made reservations ahead of time, and said it was for a birthday celebration.) We had the crab cake and bread basket for appetizers. The crab cake was delicious and very flavorful. And the bread basket came with a variety of breads with butter. No pics cause we just dug into them! lol. For dinner I ordered the prime rib which was cooked perfectly as I wanted it (medium). Talk about melt in your mouth! Every bite was sooo good! We ended the night with a birthday dessert complements of The Cork! A scrumptious brownie that they brought out with a birthday candle! What a perfect ending to a perfect dinner! Thanks Cork Tucson for making my birthday special!

Wild Game Trio

Decided to come here again for dinner and this time I'm leaving my review the same night and not months later as I go through my photos. As pleased with the food as last time. We were a bit disappointed to see the kangaroo was gone, but the rack of elk was a nice and tasty substitute. This time around we didn't bother with the trio since we knew we wanted the bisson and the elk addition. The food did not disappoint. This time we came with a reservation and were seated within 5 minutes. Oddly, we were seated in Daly's section and she immediately recognized us as if we were regulars, even though we were last here a year ago and remembered bits and pieces of who we were and what we did for a living, truly an impressive waitress. We made the effort this time to note her name down so we can ask for her section again next year! She definitely made sure to check in on us to make sure we were happy with our food and if we needed drink refills. She did convince us to try the seasonal blood orange tarts, which were quite tasty. They weren't overly sweet and the orange and decorative strawberries were fairly sweet and didn't come off as tart given the sweetness of the tarts. These were a nice and light dessert. We're definitely looking forward to dining here again!

Came to The Cork for a Valentine's Day dinner on Feb 13 thinking it'd be easy to get a table. Wrong, LOL The Cork is busy no matter what day it is and that's a good thing because we need to keep local establishments busy and prospering. Lucky enough to find a table in the corner of the bar. Drinks were ordered but were just classics....Captain & Coke and a dirty Martini. My dirty Martini was perfect with blue cheese stuffed olives. We tried the wild game trio (bison, venison and kangaroo) because neither of us have ever had kangaroo. Once the waiter brought it out, set it down and left - we cracked up! For $22, you get one 3" strip/bite of each - so 3 bites of meat. They were all delicious but 3 bites, c'mon now! Dinner consisted of my teriyaki NY strip with a loaded baked potato and charred broccolini. EXCELLENT dinner and to be honest, I could have eaten a whole plate of that charred broccolini. My guy had double lobster tails, asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. All extremely delicious. We topped off the night with creme brulee and a slice of cheesecake. A total gut buster, LOL. Service was on point and everything was perfection.

Salmon special with a stone fruit salsa

We have always loved The Cork way back when it was Johnathan's Cork. A Tucson gem that under new ownership continues to create fantastic food! It was date night, and we made a last minute reservation in the morning. No issues since we are in mid August. But this is when the locals should visit our favorite home grown restaurants. Let me mention now that the place was very busy when we arrived. They have a beautiful bar located in the center of the building. We were seated in back with 4 other tables with view of the kitchen. Honestly the area we sat in was really loud. Sometimes I couldn't hear my husband sitting next to me. So that is why one less star. The food has always been been fantastic. My husband's prime rib was cooked a perfect medium. He had asparagus and a baked potato. I had the special salmon along with charred broccolini and a baked potato. All was amazing! We shared a cream brûlée after and it was delightful. We will always return but may ask for a different spot to sit.

Mushrooms
Mandy T.

I came here with a group for dinner last week. My friend and I both ordered the macadamia nut-crusted halibut and were disappointed by how plain it tasted--even with the sauce. I asked for extra sauce, but it still lacked flavor. On a positive note, I did enjoy the mushrooms again.

First time here, and it definitely won't be our last!…read more We were pleasantly surprised to find parking right up front on a packed Friday night. Even better, we were seated immediately. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, and we were greeted right away by a friendly server who helped us get settled. My husband was starving, so we placed our order as soon as we sat down, and the food arrived within 15-20 minutes. The service throughout the evening was outstanding. Our water glasses were kept full, and our server checked on us regularly without being intrusive. We started with the smoked beets, which were absolutely incredible. I'll honestly be thinking about that dish for days! We also ordered the seafood platter with shrimp, crab claws, oysters, and three slices of sashimi. Everything on the platter was fresh and beautifully prepared. The oysters and sashimi were rich, creamy, buttery, and absolutely delicious. The steak frites was another standout. I was pleasantly surprised to see it featured picanha steak. It was packed with flavor, cooked perfectly, and incredibly tender. Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience with great food, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We can't wait to come back!

There is now a sidewalk sandwich board which is helpful. This establishment cannot decide if it wants to be a butcher shop or a fine dining restaurant. It does both...to mixed results. It's the classiest butcher shop I have ever been in, and the most schizo restaurant, bar none. I would not bring a date here. 3 stars. Service-I walked in yesterday to look at a menu for lunch. Was not greeted after standing around for almost 10 minutes. I left without food. 1 star Food-Have gotten sausage, steak and lamb here in the past. Their cold case stands out. Good selection. The merguez, breakfast and brats that i had purchased all had good flavor and mouthfeel, but were unfortunately, extremely salty. Forbes is very expensive as well, compared to other butcher shops around Tucson, beef jerky is 40/lb. 2 stars

Upon our arrival we entered the door on the right hand side of the building. We told them the name our reservation was under and they said it was for the restaurant next door on the left side of the building. It was for the more upscale restaurant as mentioned by the host. They have two restaurants by the same name that sit opposite of each other. I hear their counterpart is just as good. We entered the building from the left and told the host the name the reservation was under. The host wasn't as attentive as she should have been. She hardly even looked as us. We were standing there and she seemed to be busy with something else. No ' it'll be just a few minutes', nothing. She was talking with the other ladies. Finally we were seated. Our server was very nice. We decided on two steak dinners. My wife had the 8oz filet and I got the rib-eye both med-rare. Our steaks look good when we received it. But my steak was served rare! It was chewy and fatty. I chewed for days just to get a single piece down. My wife steak was overcooked to medium. There's nothing worse than an overcooked filet mignon! We don't like sending food back for obvious reasons. We've heard too many horror stories, not to mention I use to work in the food industry. As I mentioned, our server was very nice and attentive as well! She constantly checked on us and my tip reflected that! For a $170.00 bill, our meal was mediocre at best. Thanks for ending my wife's Mother's Day on a sour note!

It definitely has more of a bar vibe than it does a restaurant, but the food I ordered was incredible. If you're hungry, don't look at my pictures. Lol. With that area of town being so crowded, I thought parking was going to be an issue, but I found a spot right near the front of the restaurant every time. PS - When they saw me come in for the third night in a row, the chef blessed me with a free slice of raspberry pie. That's quality customer service right there. Love this place.

Man let me tell you. First, this is on university's main drag and it's and first food second. So…read morethe crowd is very bar heavy. Western themed but I would say it's a country bar. Service was great! The food however was lacking. Sub par bar food. Coca-cola wings have no seasoning. Burger is blah. But perhaps the most offensive this was the chili. I got wedges so he were good and well season with chili. The chili had corn in it. I like corn. It doesn't belong in chili. Otherwise it was good chili. If you want to bring some sweetness to the chili give a side of cornbread. Not corn kernels. Come here for drinks and to watch the games. Eat the food to soak up the alcohol.
