The building has all sorts of funky character which we appreciate over the cookie cutter buildings and slick interiors of many of the resturants you visit when on the road. Service was brisk and pleasant. FOOD- my mother-in-law loved the ribs, fall off the bone she said. i had the 14 oz. rib eye it was ok. really thin best part was the baked potato. i ordered a salad with blue cheese dressing and someone thought it was a good idea to put what they thought the amount of dressing i would like on the salad. kids had kid menu food which was good they liked it. my wife ordered the filet. she likes it well done so i have no idea how good it was but she liked it so that makes me happy. my kids ribeye came with a bag of chips yep a bag of lays chips. what? my daughter ordered the kids cheeseburger which i tasted and thought was good. the appetizer chips and salsa i swear the chips were right out of a bag of Tostitos corn tortillas and microwaved to get warm. get the chips from somewhere that makes them we are in Tucson. i could be wrong but my wife and i eat out frequently and order chips and salsa a lot. oh, they came in a red basket with no paper separating the chips from the red picnic basket they put the chips in. that is gross if you go you will see what i mean. ambiance-- the place was pretty empty on a Wednesday, and we were sat i would say in the bar area with 5 or 6 tv's from what looked like 20 years ago. the tables best days were about 20 years ago as well right out of a cafeteria setting. we were sat alongside a table of about 8 that was approximately 1 foot from our table. so close in fact they had put their menus on one of our chairs before we sat down and actually during our meal i needed a napkin and a man from the other table handed me one. when going to a steak house with such great reviews i didn't expect to be seated in the bar area with cafeteria seating with tvs playing everywhere. i was expecting a restaurant meal in a restaurant atmosphere. we were not asked where we preferred to sit. i did see a big room with some people in it when we walked by the doorway. honestly. this restaurant looks like it was frozen in the 1970's. spend some money and update the place. service- the young man was nice. not attentive though he didn't even notice i did not have a setting the whole way through and never did. i grabbed a fork from my 8 year old. here is the thing with me. if you are going to charge good money and come off as a nice steak house don't charge people good money a (couple hundred dollars) and give them a half ass experience. if you want to be a dive that sells steaks price accordingly. we could have gone to a nice place and paid the same amount instead i feel like we went to an outdated restaurant that takes way to many short cuts and has lost its emphasis on a quality experience. maybe if we had gone in 1984 it would have been awesome. there are too many other places to go to for a meal then to spend good money at this outdated 2 star restaurant. sorry read more

It's taken some time to get there, but I've now tried most of the reasonably priced steakhouses in Tucson, and I can say with confidence that Daisy Mae's is among the best. The service overall was ok, but they were obviously pretty busy the night we went so an amazing server named Quinn stepped in and helped us out. That guy is legendary! The restaurant offers neat vibe that reminiscent of old Tucson but still feels clean and fresh. This was the place to be when I was in college about 15 years ago, and I was so excited that it was close to the hotel I stayed at when I came back for work. I went and had dinner with one of my best girlfriends, and we had a great time. The restaurant is huge plenty of seating. I got the sirloin and she got the bigger ribeye, and the food came out pretty quickly. I think I ate two baskets of bread by myself! My steak was tender and juicy, and perfectly cooked. I've eaten a lot of great steaks and great ribs in my 70 years. The beef filet and the babyback ribs we had last night were without a doubt the best I've ever eaten. In fact every side item was very delicious including the salad, beans, salsa, and baked potato. The big 9 oz filet and sides would have been a generously large meal but I had to get a half rack of ribs as dessert. Both the filet and the ribs were so tender they dissolved in our mouths. Don't let the menu prices scare you away. Meat and sides this good are worth every penny. Service was great! Our table was in view of the Grill Master who moved like a ballet dancer as he tended the tender meats. This is a classic old-time western steakhouse, one of the Tucson spots you have to try while down here. We took a group for a birthday and were able to get a reservation for 9 on a Friday with 24hrs notice! Staff were attentive and friendly, and those that arrived early got to enjoy drinks at their vibey bar. Ribeye steaks were delicious and out fast, and they provided our table a number of servings of buttered toast, beans and a potato and small salad with each meal. We could see them cook all the meat on the mesquite grill through the large front windows to the patio. Saw the reviews about the wings and ribs. They aren't lying. Meat falls off the bone. Wings are crispy and tasty. I got the meat lovers that had those plus an 8oz ribeye. The steak was about a 7/10 but it's because it was thin due to being 8oz. I bet their thicker options would be even better. My friend went to this place this weekend despite me warning him and and found a dead fly in his salad and was bit by a swarm of mosquitos, one of them looked like a pterodactyl thats how big it was. My wife and I had just left star pass resort and was driving by and saw Daisy Mays and thought we would stop in for dinner. The steakhouse is a hole in the wall hidden restaurant that probably doesn't get as much attention as places like El corral in pinnacle Peak. We were seated promptly. The menu is pretty condensed, mostly steak, rib, chicken, and they have a catch of the day. Waitress came over took our drink request came back with water and then came back with our sodas. My wife got the ribeye. I got the T-bone. The meals come with salad, baked potato, ranch beans, and bread. The beans do have a little bit more flavored in the beans at pinnacle Peak and bread reminds me of Lucky Wishbone garlic bread. The sticks themselves were thin for the price and a T-bone flair full but tad tough. My wife had no problem with the ribeye and a texture. Jamie are waitress. I don't know if she was having a off night or what but she was not with it constantly had to ask for refills when she brought our dinner plates didn't slam them down, but didn't put them down nicely. At the end of our dinner was not even offered a desert menu. It's sad because the table right across from us seem to have a good waiter who was very conversing with them, but Jamie just seemed to be in a rush. I wasn't a fan of their house margarita, and the raspberry margarita with Hornitos was just okay. We both ordered filet mignon, each at different temperatures, and both were cooked perfectly. Do check the whiteboard by the entrance for entree and drink specials. They have a great selection of drinks and a nice bar area. The reason for my 4-star rating is the limited selection of sides: salad, beans, baked potato and Texas toast. It is plenty of food, but if those sides aren't your thing you're kind of limited compared to say the Silver Saddle. My T-bone was the perfect size (for me), done to perfection. A little bit gristly, but the flavor was excellent. Everyone else got the ribs which were judged to be excellent. One outlier declared they were the best ribs he's ever had, though no one else ranked them quite that high. Service was friendly and attentive. Not a smoked rib, well if they are they you can't tell. They were thrown on the grill and the edges were charred hard. Great if you like burnt ends. A delicious tangy, sticky bbq sauce. No wet naps offered. The baked potato was a baked potato, sour cream and butter included. My son had the half rack and half chicken, he only eats white meat but said the chicken had good flavor. My mother had the halibut, which she said was delicious. The standard Texas toast and side of beans included. The beans had a nice flavor. When visiting Tucson, we wanted to go to an iconic steakhouse in the area. This was an excellent choice to have a tasty, juicy steak. We both ordered the rib-eye steak medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection. In addition to the steak, you get a baked potato and a salad. The salad is lettuce topped with dressing. Nothing special. It's the steak that's the star, which you would expect since this is a steakhouse. You can get beans and bread upon request for no additional charge. Service is good. From our dining area, we could see the steaks cooking on the outside grill. There are two dining areas from which you can choose. One is the bar/lounge type space that has TVs, and the other is a dining room. All over the walls are $1.00 bills with writing on the bills. I asked the waitress, and she said the dollar bills were started by the owner who tacked up his first dollar when the restaurant opened. Then someone placed a dollar on the wall to commemorate someone who passed away. The tradition then started to place dollar bills to recognize someone or something. An experience you will absolutely forget. I mean that, this place did not stand out to me in any positive way. The food was pretty standard for a steakhouse; the steak wasn't anything to write home about and for $40 you'd expect more. I will remember the negatives however. It appears that this restaurant is not following food safety standards. Having worked in multiple restaurants, I know that staff are required to wipe down all tables with hot water and an industrial soap. However the staff here were wipes tables down with Lysol that you buy at a Walmart. Which makes me wonder what else they are not doing up to standard. read more

A young man from the back helped her instead. The table felt like it was about to fall apart and leaned to one side. Food finally came out and was semi warm. I had the ribs and although they were fall off the bone, there was no real flavor and the bbq sauce tasted like KC masterpiece not homemade. Others had steaks and weren't that impressed with them. The ribeye was chewy and had a tart taste to it. Beans were luke warm as well. The baked potato was hot. The prices were high compared to other places in Tucson. Would we go back? The mesquite fire grill outside kept churning out delicious steaks coupled with some darn good fall off the bone ribs and chicken wings. The meat platter serves 2+ or has leftovers for 3 meals. Choice of sitting in the dining room or the lounge which has a bar- type feel. I'm going to write a review of this restaurant based on one night and on a Friday night as best I can. Daisy Mae's Steakhouse is located west of Tucson. Since it was already dark when we headed out on Anklam Road, I couldn't if tell we were headed uphill but we managed to find the small lit sign on the side of the road. My son was meeting up with some friends which we eventually met once we were inside. We were told there would be a forty five minute wait since they were short one server. The place was packed so we proceeded to the bar and chatted to get to know one another. When we were finally were escorted to the back part of the restaurant where there were more tables full of people enjoying themselves. The servers were doing their best to keep up with the evening customers. The place was very noisy and I had to have my wife order for us as I was afraid our server wouldn't be able to hear me as I am soft spoken. We ordered a half rack of baby back ribs, others ordered T-bone steak, and some ordered the catch of the day, which really wasn't the catch of the day but their dinner turned out fine. We were chatting with one another and made open comments about the dollar bills attached to the surrounding wall with names of people, as well as personal comments written all over every dollar bill. I don't know the history behind this but I'm sure it's a good one. Overall the baby back ribs were okay and the meat did fall off the bones. Other than that we all had a good time. The restaurant is only open in the evenings and their staff is friendly and polite. I still would suggest you try it once and hopefully they will have more servers working. First, I'm a Tucson Native and have know about Daisy Mae's for awhile, even been there before and the food was delicious. However, I went there on the 26th of December to celebrate my daughters birthday and I left perplexed and shocked. I ordered a prickly pear margarita to start. I got what tasted like a normal margarita, I asked about it and was told, yeah... that's a prickly pear. I've had several prickly pear margaritas and if that was prickly pear - it was unrecognizable. I asked for an amarreto sour instead. That turned out ok. We all ordered and the majority of food ordered was the sirloin for 31.00 each. There was two orders of 1/2 rack of ribs and 1/2 chicken. Both of the 1/2 orders came with an ultra spicy BBQ sauce that no one liked. One sirloin came out looking like it was bearly a sirloin... it was so small and scraggly that Outback wouldn't have served it. Many people in our party had to use a ton of A1 sauce as the steak had no flavor, we could taste the mesquite, but barely. The salads were just basic a ring of red onion, one tomato, and two slices of cucumber on a huge bed of lettuce. We asked for beans and got a small bowl for 7 people. The best things were the potatoes and bread. We also asked for salsa, but never go it. Our daughter did get her complimentary ice cream sundae and said it was good! We would have complained to the manager (I did let the waiter know how crappy the food was, he said he would tell his manager, but we never saw a manager), but the service was so slow and absent that we just wanted to leave. While our waiter was nice, it wasn't hopping with customers, and we had to wait multiple times for water refill. Our check did come out with out the two drinks being charged, but they tacked on a 20% gratuity for our party of 7, which I knew about. At the end of the night, I paid almost 300.00 for crappy food and subpar service. I will no longer recommend Daisy Mae's to anyone, nor will I go there again. I could have honestly gone to Outback Steakhouse, gotten better food and paid less... same with El Corral too. read more

Still the go to spot for steaks when I do my yearly Tucson visit. When you're not sure whether to get the 14oz ribeye steak or a full rack of ribs, Daisy Mae's offers a meat lover's platter that has a 10oz ribeye, a half a rack of ribs plus a handful of grilled wings thrown in for good measure! Now here's the deal, when I cook a steak at my house, it's going to be seared on the outside and "blue" all the way through. Most restaurants I go to, aren't able to give that to me when I order a steak. I think the people doing the cooking want to be careful and end up cooking the steak rare to medium rare. Well, not here at Daisy Mae's! When I requested for my steak to be cooked, "blue" they cooked it exactly as if I were doing the cooking and the steak was nearly raw on the inside. The person manning the grill was a real grill master that didn't shy away from a challenge. C'mon now! As for the ribs, perfect as always with the meat falling off the bones and the dipping sauce they come with is delicious. Now the chicken wings were nothing to write home about and as far as I can tell, they were just an add on that were thrown in for good measure and honestly I wouldn't miss them if they were taken out. This time was the first time I got their dessert. I decided to try the chocolate toffee mousse with Kahulua cake. It was okay. It tasted like I was eating a Three Musketeers bar in cake form which was way too sweet. Next time I'll try their homemade apple pie instead. Also, don't forget to bring a dollar bill. They'll provide red, green and blue Sharpie markers so you can decorated and make a memorial of it and then staple it to the wall. read more
