Ordered basics with scrambled eggs, sausage links, home fries and toast. Toast arrived 5 mins after meal. Sausage was ice cold so I watched the guy in kitchen stick my whole plate in microwave. Then my eggs were overdone. Finished my water and waitress never came to refill so I drank my husband's water. Service both times I've been here have been slow and unfriendly. Bathrooms were filthy. While we enjoyed the food here, the service was lacking quite a bit. When I first walked into Jerry Bob's there was no hostess to seat people. After waiting about 3-4 minutes we saw a small little sign off to the side which said to seat ourselves. After we sat down we waited about 15 minutes total for menus and then our order to be taken. Also I had to flag down the waitress many times to get refills on coffee. The food, however, was perfect. The eggs on my eggs benedict were poached perfectly and the hash browns tasted great. I will definitely be back in the future, but maybe not on a Sunday which may have been the reason for the slower service. read more

We have been coming here for over two years and unfortunately we have seen a slow decline in the food portions. Let me say, we LOVE the two main servers, Lori and Deanna. They are friendly, work their butts off with a smile on their faces, and understanding and do what they can to correct the cooking errors from the kitchen. This review is directed at the owner of this restaurant. Has this person ever gone to another Jerry Bob's? The one on Thornydale is one he should check out. The menu offers Rueben's year round as well as many other items. The portions at the Thornydale restaurant are at least 50% larger, for at or near the same price, as the one in Catalina. We were looking for a great local diner for breakfast and chose Jerry Bob's. We were immediately greeted by a friendly waitress and chose a booth. She made several recommendations. I ended up with the chicken fried steak. It was huge and served with two eggs, hash browns and toast. She got the square meal, but substituted spinach for the ham. No problem. Rude service. Sign said OPEN. Went in for lunch at1:45pm. Self seating. Sat down, we were the only ones in the diner. All of the staff looked at us as if they were not a "public restaurant". The angry glares form the lady cook in the back, should of warned us of the rest of what we had coming. Food was not cooked all the way. We could tell frozen fries were pulled out of the fryer before completely cooked. Since I had my 4-year old and promised her lunch out. I tried making the best of a bad experience. Second visit last week after a good initial visit last month. Went out to this Jerry Bobs to support this rural location, which could use some support, I believed. Won't return. Unknown what its attempt on hash browns were. Initially delivered cold. Was then asked to scoop them on a separate plate from a server so the cooks could heat up. Returned and tasted what I guess paper scraps taste like. (Boxed "hash browns?") Note to management: As a gesture of high quality customer service, completely replace the cold product with a new, fresh product. Consider comping at least a portion of the meal as a gesture in an attempt to retain a returning customer. In other words, treat customers as if you were the customer. read more

I've had Jerry Bob's in Oro Valley before. I liked their French toast. So I came to this Jerry Bob's, as it's closer to my home, thinking a nice French toast meal would be nice. Well, it's an entirely diff menu. The menu is not only smaller, but also more expensive (seems like everything in Catalina is more expensive because the businesses love to rip off the elderly retired people here who have money). Never coming here again. I haven't received my meal I ordered yet, so I don't even know the quality of the food yet. But for the menu and prices alone, it's not worth it at all. Edit: I just had my food, and I had to move my original 2-star rating to a 1-star. Reason is because the food literally had no flavor, as others mentioned here. I ordered a bacon, sausage, ham, and cheese omelette, with hash browns and toast. I asked for butter on my toast, and it wasn't even real butter. It tasted like margarine. The hashbrowns and omelette literally had no flavor. I did receive okay service, but I was waiting a little longer to be helped, then I ever have at any other Jerry Bob's. The food did come out hot. I'm all about supporting smaller businesses, but they have to at least try to put some effort into the food, especially when their prices are substantially higher than everyone else's, and that just wasn't the case here. The other Jerry Bob's in Oro Valley was exceptionally better. In price, quantity, service, and taste! I won't ever return to this location. The management really needs to read these reviews, and apply some changes, because they are loosing business due to their own failures. read more

Yuk. Cheap, horrible food. I'm sorry but eggs, bacon, toast is pretty hard to screw up but with cheaper than cheap ingredients you get awful. Wait staff could care less about customers. Our waitress took our order wrong (omelette) and was like too bad for you. Coffee the worst. The only good point is the place is pretty clean. I do have to say that one person's chicken fried steak was ok if you like greasy, thick gravy, with terrible indigestion an hour later. He liked it at the moment but not later in the day ... We planned a ride to here from Phoenix on the advice of a friend, "RTE" - Ride To Eat as we motorcycle riders call it.... Well I have to say, it did not disappoint! Easy parking outside, friendly staff, current covid rules enforced. Great selection on the menu of what I'd call 'Good simple food' as you'd expect from a breakfast diner; and the food itself was excellent, reasonable portion sizes and fairly priced. Saturday morning, relatively busy. Our waitress took our order at 8:30 . Brought our drinks and that was the last we saw of her. Other folks who came in after us received their food. At 9:00 we caught another waitress and asked her to check on our order. Within two minutes our waitress was bringing our food. Everything was cold. It had been sitting so Lind the eggs had congealed. My husband never sends anything back so he ate his. I had her re heat my waffle. It was so cold the butter wasn't melting. When I paid I told the main waitress how bad it was and she blamed it on the cook. I replied that everything was cooked it just sat there too long. The food is fast and good. It's a diner for the folks of Catalina and those in surrounding communities. The friendly staff and consistently good food make it a weekly event for us. We were greeted right away and told to pick a seat..sat at a large booth. The server took our orders and we then waited almost an entire hour for our food! This is amazing considering we ordered really complicated menu items such as, "bacon and eggs," and "hash browns." When our food did start coming out, only 3 people got their meals-the server then looked at out table of 7 and said, "oh wait, this is all together?" haha Yup, sure is! Fancy that, we wanted to ALL eat together. The other dishes took about 5 minutes to come out, so not a huge deal. One person was still without food after all of this, so my dad pointed it out to a woman on the floor and she told us to be patient. Ok. Think we had that one covered when we didn't complain about the hour long wait for dishes I could have cooked at home in under 5 minutes. The check was mysteriously deposited at the table without any notice, so my grandparents were confused as to why we were waiting for it for so long. My huevos garcia was all salsa and nothing else..tiny bit of non-melted shredded cheese on top. The French dip at the table was declared to "be worse than an old person's home." The portions have gotten smaller all around since this place opened..I don't need to eat that much, but it's worth noting. The chorizo and eggs went over well, as did the sausage and cheese omelette. I love this place, the waitresses are fantastic, kind, friendly, and on top of filling your coffee. I'm starting to think that the cook is prejudiced. At one time the food always came out perfect and as expected. Sadly the past few months have not been the case. I don't know who the cook is I've never met him, but I told one of the waitresses that the potatoes keep getting screwed up and from that point on every time we order something it's messed up. We don't even order potatoes anymore, no home fries ,no hashbrowns because, they are never right. Today it was the eggs we ordered them over medium and one was hard. That's OK we will just start returning our food and eventually not go anymore. If it continues I am going to start logging each incident and ultimately send a letter to management. read more

The waitstaff is proficient. The food is average but you can order one meal one day and the next time the same meal can be better or worse. My husband and I eat here about once or twice a month because of a local coupon in our paper. If it weren't for the coupon I would not eat there at all. I been served cold hash browns and eggs, gravy that was essentially a cup of milk with pepper. Ask for any sauce or salsa on the side or you might get a drenched meal.
