Cafe A La C'art is a slightly hidden, off the main track restaurant attached to the Tucson Museum of Art. It is an amazing pastry location and a great lunch location. We have been coming here for over ten years, either as a couple or when my work has events. They can be a little pricy, but it is an amazing location with charm. There is interior and outside seating. You order at the counter with menus provided to review. You WILL be tempted by the pastries. It is mostly sandwiches and salads...and pastry. The drinks are soft drinks, teas and limited alcohol. Food is always well presented, and they do accommodate changes. Staff are friendly but also busy. Did I mention the charm, the adobe rooms have tables and the decor bring the experience together. It can be loud at times, but not overwhelming. Definitely visit, especially if doing the courthouse tour, the Presidio or Old Town shops, other hidden downtown gems. read more

I love the art on the walls so much and glad I came around 9am ish in the summer when it's less crowded so I can easily walk around and look at all the art pieces. Lots of nature themed paintings and photographs. I also really like their patio. I had the smoked beet sandwich and replaced the goat cheese with extra pumpkin seed-pistachio- sesame spread to make it vegan. It comes with seasoned fries/ green salad with herb vinaigrette/ or today's side a vegan potato salad. I chose the green salad with herb vinaigrette and really appreciated it had some pumpkin seeds too. They also gave me a sample of the potato salad but I liked the other food I had better. My understanding is that they use frozen potatoes for the fries vs fresh ones but season them with a seasoning mix. The pumpkin seed-pistachio- sesame spread in the sandwich was called "tahini" on the menu but it seems like it was sesame seeds in it not ground tahini paste. The sandwich was really yummy and great for summer. Ordering the first round is at the bar counter but once you are seated after your first order you can order more from the staff. I hear that there is a line to order at the more popular times but there was not a line when I was there. They had lots of great looking baked good. One was vegan and gluten free. Great place to have food at while visiting the Tucson Museum of Art. They share a small free parking lot. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! A charming brunch spot tucked into a 140-year-old building in Tucson. While exploring Tucson over the weekend, we stumbled upon this gem for Sunday brunch. Learning that the building is over 140 years old made the experience even more special. The moment we walked in, it felt like stepping into a cozy European café, colorful walls, artwork everywhere, an open garden patio, and an inviting open kitchen and dining space. The ambiance alone is a solid 10/10. The setup is casual: order at the counter, then find a table. They offer a wide variety of food and drinks, and the service was warm and welcoming. For drinks, we tried the sparkling lemonade, mimosa, and coffee all excellent choices. For food, we ordered the Market Skillet and French Toast. The French Toast was the star of the meal. The bread was soft and perfectly cooked, topped generously with pineapple, making every bite delicious. The Market Skillet, however, was a bit disappointing. It was heavily loaded with potatoes and lacked the balance of vegetables we were expecting. It ended up feeling like a plate of potatoes with very little else mixed in. Overall, it's a beautiful spot with a unique atmosphere, friendly service, and reasonable prices. We'd definitely return especially for the French Toast and the ambiance. read more

Between the great service by Mark Jorbin and his team, the colorful ambiance and the amazing food, this is a Downtown winner each & every time! I love the apricot chicken salad on a croissant and yes, I opted for the fries, which I usually don't! I went here on a Saturday morning when they opened up and the line was very short. I think I was the second person in line. I just got the simple breakfast with scrambled egg whites, potatoes and bread. It was delicious. This cute cafe is a hidden gem. There are several rooms with seating and also an outdoor patio. This is a great place for 1, 2 or a group as there are various sized table options. The flank steak salad was so fresh and flavorful, and the steak was perfectly tender. It's easily one of the best salads I've ever had. It's counter service and the line to order moved painfully slow, it took at least 30-40 minutes just to order. read more

The server with the super long braided ponytail? Give her a raise! She was so wonderful with our group of 10 on Valentine's Day also celebrating a birthday. Aside from great company, she is what made our experience 5 stars. This was my 2nd time here, first time being maybe 8 years ago. My friend made brunch reservations for what coincidentally was Valentine's Day so it was very busy, line out the door. We sat in that room that is off to the left after you walk in. It was perfect for our group. I started off with the bloody Azteca which was a bloody mary with tequila. Whatever was in it sat well with the tequila which made its effects smoothly sneaky. For my meal I ordered the Cafe Burger (grilled to order 100% Angus beef / smoked peppered bacon /avocado / pepper jack cheese /chipotle aïoli /challah roll). It had all the things I order when making a custom burger, minus grilled onions. The challah roll was a bonus. And the french fries were d-lish. Our server knew her menu, she had to recited it a couple times as we had late-comers. She seemed organized and she was super pleasant. At the end of our meal, the whole table gave her audible kudos! Would love to come back and enjoy a meal outside. Those at our table who had eaten here before were really talking up that experience. I hired Cafe a La Cart to cater an event at my house and it was an easy experience from start to finish. I decided on a heavy hor d'oeuvres menu that included sliders, a cheese and charcuterie board, salmon cakes with dill aioli, mini twice baked potatoes, and a lovely dessert spread. The sliders were hit and we could have definitely ordered more of those. The service was staffed by the lovely Erik. He was so kind, efficient, and kept things going all night. He cleaned up really nicely and even re-plated things up for us in larger platters from my kitchen for folks to keep enjoying late night. Café à La C'Art is tucked next to the Tucson Museum of Art, and it's exactly the kind of quaint spot that captures Tucson's charm. Every detail in the space feels intentional from the warm, inviting wall colors to the lovely tile work near the entrance. The art on the walls appears to be for sale, which fits perfectly with the museum vibe. The patio, shaded by sail cloths, is a great place to sit for about half the year (Tucson heat permitting). It's counter service here: you order, get a number, and find your seat. I arrived a few minutes before my friend, so I grabbed a coffee and water to start my morning essentials. The line was a bit busy at first, mostly slowed by an indecisive couple ahead of me, but the staff moved things along efficiently. When my friend arrived, the rush had calmed down. The staff seemed surprised that I already had drinks but no table, which made for a funny little moment when I explained myself. The menu is pretty extensive, I had a bit of analysis paralysis, but I finally went with the breakfast burrito (without eggs) and a side of ham. My friend ordered the chilaquiles. She let me try some of hers, and they were excellent, the chips had a good crunch and weren't drowned in chile. My burrito was good, though not great. It was generously sized (thankfully cut in half), but I didn't get much of the rosemary flavor that was mentioned. The potatoes seemed deep-fried and maybe tossed with rosemary afterward. I also think it could've used a bit more cheese. Overall, I'd definitely come back the ambiance is wonderful, the staff is friendly, and the food is solid. It's not a life-changing meal, but it's a lovely place to enjoy a relaxed breakfast or brunch in downtown Tucson. read more

We had an absolutely wonderful mid-week brunch at Cafe a la C'art in downtown Tucson next to the Museum of art. It's in a historical building so there are many indoor "dining" rooms and a beautiful and peaceful outdoor patio dining area. There is art on display (and sale) of local artisans. Enter and walk toward the back room where you order at the counter and don't forget to check out the yummy sweets on display. We each ordered an entree and fries to share. The steak salad was delicious and I highly recommend. Service was excellent and not overwhelming. We spent two hours enjoying the food and each other's company. (They didn't rush us out!) Just had lunch here, and wish I knew about this place when I was working downtown! I had the Market Skillet and loved it. It was a heaping portion that left me stuffed. And the price for a dish that big was very reasonable. The staff was friendly and really helpful. The place is absolutely beautiful. A nice visual warmup before you head into enjoy some art. Another perk is the parking! They have their own parking lot, which is a luxury for downtown Tucson. Already looking forward to our next visit. We absolutely loved Cafe A La Cart. It's located in an old building that has been maintained extremely well. We sat outdoors on the patio, which was hot, but covered by an overhang and plants. I was a little confused at first when I walked in, but you grab a menu and get in line and order at the counter :) My friends and I sat outside, but I noticed there's so many places for seating - small rooms, big windowed cafe area, covered patio and under umbrella tables. I got one of seasonal drinks - a pumpkin pie latte and avocado toast with egg. It was perfect. The food came out so fast even though the restaurant was slammed busy. I'll be back. Parking can be hit or miss, I recommend going early since tables can also fill up. They do offer gluten friendly options like gluten free toast but make sure you ask depending on if it's a dietary restriction or allergy. I was able to enjoy a meal that met all of my dietary restrictions with my friends. My friends love getting the chilaquiles. I know this darling cafe is a darling of the Tucson brunch scene, but I only just tried it for the first time this past weekend. Let me tell you, though: the hype is so real. It's an absolutely charming space, with lots of small rooms that feel cozy and intimate, as well as keep the noise reasonable, even when there are lots of diners in the space. The rooms are lovely, as is the bright back porch with its wall of windows. The ambience is truly delightful! The food and drink fully live up to the tone set by the decor and atmosphere. It's comforting, hearty food with lots of options for every palate. We got green tea and a gingerbread latte, as well as a chorizo breakfast burrito and the birria omelette. The latte was well spiced and not too sweet, which I appreciated; it worked well next to a savory meal. The burrito got bonus points for both its hefty size and the well-mixed filling. I love when you get a bite that has a little of everything in it! The birria omelette was a fabulous, stick-to-your-ribs meal that combined a classic with super local flavors. Ten out of ten, no notes! Despite it being counter service, we felt well looked-after. Servers stopped by regularly to check in! I can't wait to go back! read more

This time I went for the portobello omelette and it was so flavorful and filling, the pancakes are fluffy and perfect to share and the breakfast skillet is one of my favorites when I want something hearty. Cafe a la Cart is a fabulous brunch spot in El Presidio that I've dined at dozens of times. My husband and I even had our rehearsal dinner here, and it was a beautiful evening with lots of delicious food and great service. On any given day, the pastry case is to die for, the rosemary potatoes are an amazing side to anything on the menu, and the atmosphere is homey and comfortable. The food tastes fresh and flavorful, and the gorgeous, lush patio is the perfect setting to enjoy it all. The cocktails, coffees, and teas are creative and fun (the seasonal marshmallow matcha made my day). The counter service is friendly and convenient. I miss the days of dinner service, as this was a fabulous date night spot, but I'm just grateful to have them as an iconic local Tucson cafe. read more

Came here for my 30th birthday and it was almost perfect. I got the Eggs Benedict and it slayed but their Bloody Mary is lacking. They said they had their own mix that they made in house which usually means it'll be worth spending $11 but it was almost undrinkable. Way too watery and way heavy on the lime juice. Also, I have to say... I know it's not a requirement for restaurants to do something when it's your birthday, but it sure would be nice. A little cut of something from the pastry case? I went with a large group. Service was pretty good and didn't take too long despite our numbers. My one complaint was that the servers didn't track who ordered what so someone was served the wrong meal and it had to be remade after they took bites of it. The menu had a lot of things that sounded good but I went with the birria omelet. It was delicious and full of flavor. The bread was okay. Their bakery case looks amazing. I tried the strawberry rhubarb oat bar and it was so good it inspired me to make my own version. I would go back if I was in the neighborhood. read more

The ambience of this cafe is outstanding. The decor is pretty and outside terrace area is just dreamy - a perfect place for brunch! It was a busy morning with a long line but was easy to find a seat. We came here for their Fall Tipsy Tea tasting event this Sunday. From the first time I emailed them to let them know my allergies (caffeine and vanilla) they were so helpful. I was able to have one of the drinks on the menu and chose a seasonal mimosa with apple cider as a replacement for another drink. In addition I was able to have all the food except for a chocolate dessert. Everything I tried was delicious. I do wish there had been more of each drink though since they weren't strong (alcohol wise). The details on the decorations they did were awesome as well.
