She got the daily special which was a potsticker inspired noodle dish. WOW!!!! Absolutely amazing. It was sweet and savory with lots of flavor and yummy vegetables. I ordered the biscuits and gravy because it is my favorite dish EVER. Urban Fresh did not disappoint. The homemade biscuits were fantastic, with chive mixed in throughout. I could have eaten an entire bowl of the gravy and not been disappointed! It was so so so delicious. I was nervous bc it was coconut based but it all came together very balanced and I could not detect any coconut. I also ended up getting the sweet heart juice which has beets, carrots, ginger. It was so good!!!! Chauncey blended it as soon as I ordered. He pulled out the ingredients in front of me so it doesn't get fresher than that!! Please support local! Urban Fresh is honestly a vegan staple for me and such a gem downtown. Completely plant-based, everything made in house, and you can absolutely feel the heart the owners put into this place -- truly some of the most genuine people around. When I was new to town, the owner actually came out, chatted with me, and gave me a whole list of places to check out, people to meet, and things to do. It was such a welcoming moment that I've made a point to pay that forward to every new-to-town person I meet. Looking back, Urban Fresh was one of my very first experiences here -- and it set the bar. We were visiting Tucson and our Flginal meal was from @urbanfreshaz It was a perfect ending before we headed out the road, going home. It was also the healthiest meal in Tucson. I have never heard of this place until a person in Vegan Tucson fb group suggested it. It has apparently opened for 10 yrs! Tucson keeps surprising me with its vegan restaurants and vegan options! Everything they serve is organic, housemade, and all vegan. The owner is really nice. He and his wife make everything from bread, biscuits, chickpea egg, seitan, gravy, plant based milk, etc. and they use organic fruits and vegetables. Hubby got the biscuits and gravy. I had the breakfast sandwich with homemade bollilo, chickpea egg, homemade sausage seitan and vegetables. They were delicious and clean meals after all the food we've been eating all week. Their smoothies with housemade plant milk were also delicious. I talked to him about seitan making and cooking. It is great to be able to talk to a person who cooks things from scratch and not processed. He let us sample his seitan turkey and housemade soup. This has been my favorite lunch spot during my time in Tucson. I have tried a couple of salads the Green Goddess wrap (I think that was it) and smoothies. I try and eat later so getting here before 2 has proven tough! But it has been worth the rush. The smoothies seem to have a ton of healthy ingredients and taste sooooo good! Plus you can add hemp, protein and other things to make it even better. I try and do the green smoothies with as many veggies as possible. I haven't had yelp for maybe a decade and i re-downloaded the app just to leave a review on this place. Unfortunately, i did not take any photos of my food because i inhaled all of it. My boyfriend, an omnivore and meat lover, was also blown away by our meal: the taste, the freshness and the portion. We got the ginger snap shake, the pad Thai wrap, soup of the day (corn chowder) and kale chips. The owner insisted we not purchase the soup until we tried it... spoiler alert, we purchased the soup. What a gem! I was fortunate enough to come across Urban Fresh while looking for breakfast while in town with a colleague. We started next door and realized immediately that there were no vegan/gluten free options. The friendly gentleman working at that restaurant recommended Urban Fresh, but unfortunately, it wasn't going to open for another 20 minutes or so. While we were standing outside trying to figure out our next steps, the owner of Urban Fresh came out and welcomed us in even though he wasn't open for the day yet. He was incredibly friendly and offered the best hospitality--a rarity these days. On top of the very warm welcome, we were served delicious fresh, healthy, plant based deliciousness. I definitely recommend exploring the selection of baked goods and trying the chilaquiles. You will not be disappointed! My mouth and tummy are so happy after eating at Urban Fresh. It is not easy to eat healthy on the road. My husband and I were driving from CA to TX, and trying to find something healthy on the way. We are not vegan, but we prefer to eat fresh vegetables. It is sad to us that many vegan places we found are filled with processed products with barely any fresh produce. :( So, you can see how joyful we are finding Urban Fresh while driving through Tucson. Well I gave this place a try today and the reviews were correct. It was great! A very friendly staff, with great service. A great downtown atmosphere. Prices were a little high, but right about the norm for downtown. I had the green hatch chile burger and it was very good. I wasn't too sure about the tofu, mushroom based patty in it, but that was a lot better than I expected. The bun though, that's what made it top notch. The chef here, pays great attention to detail and it shows in everything I saw. I also had a peanut butter chocolate chip scone. That was heavy on the peanut butter, but very tasteful. We stopped in the other day and it was the first time since before COVID that we had been here, and we loved it. My partner is not vegetarian but is willing to try places, much like I go to non-vegetarian places with him, and he loved Urban Fresh. First the place is bright, cheerful and has a wonderful outdoor dining area. While it is in downtown Tucson, it is on a a non-major street so you get some urban vibe without a lot of traffic. The staff were amazing. Helpful, friendly and attention to an allergy. They were very clear about all their ingredients and what could be changed and could not be changed. Like many vegan, vegetarian and raw food places, there are lots of food with nuts, which we love. There were regulars that the staff knew which shows how much they cared about their customers and learned about their preferences. While they were not busy, they chatted with me casually and provided a nice relaxing experience. We had a Pad Thai wrap and the Sweet Potato Garbanzo bean soup. They customized the wrap by removing the cucumber due to an allergy and were very friendly and respectful about doing it. The wrap had a wonderful nutty flavor that very much reminded us of pad Thai. The wrap was large, with it easily feeding two of us along with the soup. It was fresh and bright and very filling. We enjoyed it so much that we were sad when we finished it. The soup was also delicious. The blend of the sweet potato with the garbanzo bean made a soup that was deep in umami but also creamy with some bright notes. It was very deep in flavor and the beans added a little texture which we loved. Overall, the food was excellent, fresh, and flavorful. The staff were professional and made you want to go back. Got to check out Urban Fresh at a Elite event. And the name says it's well. It's a vegetarian spot located in the downtown area close to The Little One. It's part of an outdoor food court and there is lots of metered parking around the area. You can get an hour of garage parking if you get validation at the library. The staff was friendly and patient as they explained all the options. They said the chunky monkey (my high school nickname) was their most popular, so I went for that. It's sweetened with dates so I didn't get the sugar crash I can get from a Jamba smoothie. I'm usually not a fan or coconut but it was subtle. The nut butter was a good way to get some healthy fats and keep me full. The prices were reasonable and I look forward to coming back to their food in the future. What a healthy and delicious oasis in the middle of the Sonoran desert! My husband and I were in town for a half marathon (Revel Mt. Lemmon), and just as we would do before traveling to any city, we did some research on what to do and where to eat that would fit our plant-based and active lifestyle on the go. Urban Fresh was our first stop after picking up our rental car at the airport, and it set the tone for a wonderful few days in Tucson! We shared a Green Berry Smoothie, a Green Goddess Wrap and a Power Slaw. Absolutely delish, and so fresh! It was the perfect meal to fuel us up after a super early wake up to get to the airport and catch an early flight into Tucson, plus get some healthy nutrients into our bodies before the race. We were greeted by the owner, Chauncey, and about 10 minutes later we met his wife Dana too! She came out to introduce herself after learning that we were in town for the race that she herself was also going to be running! Dana, I hope you had a great run that morning!
