I went out with family to celebrate a big birthday, and we decided to make the event extra special and try out Tavernetta. The ambiance and decor quickly engrossed us with their minimalist and modern design. We were seated at a large table next to the open concept kitchen, which allowed us to enjoy a chef's table type of an evening. The service was highly attentive and we all enjoyed discussing the wine list with one of Tavernetta's in-house somms. We couldn't have been happier with the Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir that we got for the table. The charcuterie (Salumi & Formaggi) options were incredible! The meats were savory and the cheeses were sharp and creamy. Most of the entrees were delicious and well prepared, especially the Branzino and Manzo. These two dishes are must gets! Unfortunately, the duck (Anatra) entree was an underwhelming plate. The cuts were too thick which really threw off the plate's proportions. Another issue I had was their lack of vegetarian offerings. I would not recommend Tavernetta for groups who have a vegetarian with them, as they will end up leaving dinner hungry and disappointed. Overall, Tavernetta is a beautiful restaurant with some truly incredible dishes and I would certainly love an opportunity to return. If it wasn't for a few of the above mentioned issues this would have been a 5 star restaurant in my eyes. read more

Fantastic experience and so impressed that a majority of the items on their menu can be made gluten free!

My boyfriend and I stumbled in here while on a weekend trip to Denver. The service was absolutely amazing! We told our server Megan that we were looking for things to do in Denver and she gave us a huge written list of ideas from the whole staff which so so above and beyond! Food came out fast and was delicious. We had the focaccia, manzo, and lobster tagliatelle which were all super tasty. 10/10 would reccomend for anyone visiting the area! read more

Seriously one of the best restaurants in Denver. The food itself is already worth every penny, but the dining experience elevates this rating even higher. It's very reasonably priced for what it is as well. I've been to similar restaurants in other states that aren't as good for almost double. Additionally, I'm gluten-free and the kitchen is very accommodating. They can transform almost every dish to your liking and allergy accommodations. You can't for wrong with the lamb ragú (one of the best meat-sauce-based dishes I've ever had) and the Lobster Pasta. We also got the pollo and it was incredible. I wish I could rate this place more stars because I would. read more

I have never been here but my super trendy foodie girlfriend said we needed to eat dinner here after happy hour wine with another girlfriend. It was super packed at 5p for a Friday, which I was informed was surprising especially since it was so cold last night. We were given a 20 min wait time and were seated after 10 min at the bar. Because it was super busy, it was really loud so we had to yell with our bartenders to hear and be heard. The staff is super amazing here! They are so customer service oriented and were always there filling our waters and getting our next courses. Since I have never been here, I told my friend to order for the both of us. Somehow, she took it as try almost everything on the menu because she ordered cheese and orange mostarda. I have had mostarda at other places and Tavernetta's mostarda is delicious and while you can taste the mustard, it is very faint and the orange peel showed through. Our next course was scallop crudo. It had pink peppercorn and was so delicious!! Then we had fritto misto which was light and crispy. Next, we had gnocchi and pappardelle that came out together. The flavors melded together so wonderfully, but the gnocchi was super soft and the pappardelle was a little too al dente being on the verge of being undercooked and hard. Our final entree was Manzo, which was also super delicious and was cooked perfectly medium rare. At this point, we were so full that we had only 1 bite of the NY strip. We left portions of our previous courses and had them boxed so I could take them home. I joked with the bartender that I was building a fort of boxes. Why only a 4? Well, while the flavors were so wonderful in ALL the courses, they oversalted everything and it wasn't like it was accidental in one or two courses, it was every course. It was just way too salty to be enjoyable to the fullest. Usually, I am sensitive to salt because I prefer other spices to come through when I cook, but my girlfriend concurred that it was really salty in all our courses. read more

After our previous experience, the Tavernetta team graciously reached out and invited us to return. I'm happy to report that our follow-up experience returned Tavernetta to its 5 star status. Our server, Anthony, and the rest of the staff were fantastic -- enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The food and drinks were prepared with finesse and each dish was beautifully presented and flavored. The brown butter scallops were heavenly and our personal favorite, but the crudo and crostini were also stars. Not pictured, we also tried the Fagiano Alla Cacciatore (Pheasant, Hunter's Stew, Cremini Mushroom) and the Gnocchi Al Funghi (Mushroom, Taleggio Fonduta, Black Truffle). The gnocchi was pillowy soft and the dish had just the right amount of funk. The staff went above and beyond to make this a memorable experience and we look forward to our next visit to Tavernetta. read more

3 Stars (not 5) because of the odd seating situation. There was a waitlist for the bar - ok no problem, makes perfect sense, add us to the waitlist. " I'm sorry we can't until later please come back"....What?? That's the point of the LIST! To be added to it. Very odd & off putting. They also make you give your name & # before seating you if you're a walk in. Just seat me! What's with the song & dance formalities. Thankfully the food is excellent. Polite bar staff too. Just very annoying hostess / seating process. read more

Five well-deserved stars. Everything we ordered was so good. I'm still dreaming about their burrata! It was hands down the best burrata I've ever had. Trust me and just order it. You'll thank me later. First of all, I loved the warm, trendy ambiance and open kitchen concept. Our server was the best and very knowledgeable about the menu and cocktails. My group decided to do what we do best, which is order a little bit of everything and share with one another. We ordered: -Bresaola -Burrata -Carpaccio -Fritto misto -Polpo -Gnocchi -Tagliatelle -Campo di Funghi -Branzino -Manzo Out of all of these, my favorites were the burrata, carpaccio, gnocchi, tagliatelle and campo di funghi. The campo di funghi is big enough for four people to share. The portions were very generous and we all left extremely satisfied with no room for dessert. Highly recommend! read more

It was so nice, we had to go twice...in a row. The first night in Denver we decided to do a walk in and they were able to take us which was really great. It's a really cute place with a separate bar/lounge area on one side, full dining on another, and a couple cute outdoor enclosed tents. Their open concept kitchen is so beautiful, along with the decor and attention to details. The service was absolutely wonderful and the food was amazing. Their focaccia bread, omg, how I love this bread. I wanted to buy a loaf, but unfortunately they didn't sell it. Overall dinner was wonderful so the next day we had to come back to try their happy hour. Overall their happy hour menu consisted of a lot of the same items, which were the same price. It did however have 2 items that aren't on the regular menu. The cacio e Pepe and the sausage plate. Both were amazingly delicious. Their hh also included a few wines, beers, and cocktails that were about $5 off the regular price. Cacio e Pepe - get it Salsiccia - get it Marcona almonds - skip it Alici - skip it Tiramisu - get it Focaccia bread - EAT THIS!!!!! Barbabietole - good, the cheese part was yummy Rigatoni - good even though I don't like lamb Tagliatelle - good, but I don't like the hint of tanginess to it. pradarolo Canto del cio - the bf likes it. Hard to find outside of Italy and they carry this dessert wine. Eagle rare old fashioned - the bf likes this too. Venetian spritz - good Bitter bianco spritz - ok Brachetto spritz - get it If we were staying for an additional night, I think I would of came back for dinner again to try out the rest of the menu. read more

I mostly enjoyed my dining experience at this restaurant, though I wish I had gone with one of the pasta dishes. I had the sugar snap pea risotto and it tasted mostly like extra virgin olive oil - it overpowered the dish completely in my opinion. The sliced pancetta on top was so thin that you could barely taste it - not sure why it was even included. If I was only basing my review on this dish, I would give it a 2/5. However the drinks, service and bread they provided were good. And a bite of my friend's lobster tagliatelle confirmed I made the wrong choice in my entree! read more

Food, service, and ambiance are excellent. I Highly recommend to make reservations. Otherwise you'll be standing in line for a long time.

I was in town for a quick weekend in Denver and stopped by Tavernetta for lunch and was very happy we chose this place. It's right by union station in downtown Denver so you have to park on the streets, but we went on Saturday so parking wasn't a problem. There was a group of 7 total so we made reservations ahead of time just to be safe. Everyone at the table ordered a little bit of everything off the menu and everything was so good! One thing to mention was that the lunch menu they offered on Saturday was the same as their dinner menu, but that didn't bother us. We ordered a bottle of wine, with help from one of the wine experts at the restaurant, and the recommendation she made nailed all of our "requirements" we were looking for. It's hard to find a wine that a whole table would enjoy, but they did it! I personally ordered and shared the raw scallops, gnocchi, and branzino and was blown away by each dish. The scallops were so soft and flavorful, the gnocchi were like pillows that melted in your mouth, and the brazino had the perfect crisp! Everyone else's order was good too based on the bits that I tried. The ravioli was good, but the sauce that it was cooked in was delicious. We mopped up the plate clean with the bread that they brought out. This restaurant had everything that we were looking for for a nicer lunch in Denver on a Saturday! Would definitely come back again. Also, they had an open kitchen concept right in the middle of the restaurant and our table had the perfect view of what was going on behind the scenes. I recommend getting a table there if you like watching that kind of stuff (: read more

I have waited two years to eat here and it was a mixed bag for us. We started with some small plates while we waited for the dining room to open. The olives, almonds, and crostini were delicious. When we moved to our table our meal hit a major bump. Our server only asked for our orders for the antipasto and primi then she left. We had planned on getting a secondi too, but she didn't ask us for it. We assumed she would come back and get that order, but after our pasta course she brought the dessert menu. Some of us left pasta on our plates to save room for the main dishes. We didn't ask to order the main dish because Tavernetta limits the time at your table and we wouldn't have had time at that point to order a main dish. This was disappointing and our server should have guided us better. Now granted we had plenty of food, but if we had known how large the portions were, we would have ordered differently or shared plates. At other high end Italian restaurants like Spiaggia in Chicago, they portion courses to run small so you can get all 3, so again we needed guidance. It was my birthday meal too and it was a bummer. As for the quality of the food I did not enjoy my dishes. The burrata was firmer like a fresh mozzarella rather than a creamy burrata. But the pasta was the real let down. The lobster had an strong taste and the sauce wasn't spicy and kind of sour. My family enjoyed their food, some even had the same pasta, so maybe it was just my dish? That said, we are a family who loves Italian food and I can't imagine us coming back. read more

Service was extremely slow, and the gnocchi de noci tasted like the sauce was made from a can of Campbell's condensed cream of chicken soup. We originally were trying not to eat around 16th Street to stay away from chains and stumbled upon this gem! We arrived around 5:45 p.m. on a Monday and while there were no regular tables, they were able to seat us at the bar. The bartender was extremely helpful and friendly and helped make our experience. We started each with happy hour drinks (from 4-6pm), Burrata Con Pesto Trapanese, and two cured meats. It was perfect to share with 3 people! I ordered the Cacio E Pepe and it was *chef's kiss*. Everything about this place was great, from the food to the service. If wanting a table, I'd make reservations but if early enough (and I assume on a week day) you may be able to get a seat at the bar read more

I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience at Tavernetta!! The service was by far the star of the show - the staff was amazing and so attentive. The ambiance was chic and cozy. Really blown away by the quality of food here. I had the spaghetti that I would describe as similar to the Scilian pasta con le sarde but with crab! And it was out of this world. You can taste the sweetness of fennel, the crabby flavor, and the crushed pine nuts adds a different texture to each bite. I wish I can do a better picture of the spaghetti but it's dim inside and I'm not a pro photographer! We also had the house bread, burrata, and tagliatelle which were all great. I would definitely pay it a visit the next time I visit Denver! read more

Atmosphere was top notch! Got greeted and seated immediately. Service was awesome and the food was very tasty, but I'm sick of this new trend where restaurants charge $30 for a half cup of pasta. It's just pasta! I'm European, we like to eat. If you are going to serve up a itty bitty tiny portion that will feed a two year old then the price needs to come down significantly. It doesn't have to be a giant portion, but for $25-$30 I'd expect more. read more

The best Italian restaurant in Denver! Everything is up to the highest quality I have found in this city. We went to Tavernetta before heading to the ballet since they're both downtown. The ambiance inside was great, and the service was wonderful as well. Very nice staff :) The reason for the four rating instead of the five was related to the food actually. For the price, all four of us weren't particularly thrilled with the dishes we ordered. I'm definitely not saying anything was wrong, just not the best. I've had quite a few tagliatelle dishes in my life and it was pretty good! Definitely worth a visit of course, and a great spot to impress a date with your...financial prowess ;) read more
