I wandered into this restaurant on a whim based on the menu and the pictures on yelp. What a tremendous treat. I tried a couple of the tapas --small plates which are served like dim sum -- They're brought from table to table a few at a time and you choose what you want. I had a beet dish and corn cakes and they were both top flight! I was planning on trying out several restaurants since I only have a night or two in Denver, but I almost changed my plan and stayed for a whole meal. Things I liked: My wonderful dining partners Amy and Erin who treated me to dinner; ropa vieja with the plantains--ordered 2 of these; hot stone soup just for the spectacle of it served table-side; the braised lamb served in a banana leaf; attentive service (but see below). Cocktails were creative and enjoyable. Concept of marrying diem sum to latin food works here! Could be better: service was so attentive we felt rushed at times and had to restrain our over-eager server(s); chicken wings with sesame seeds were just ok, not crispy or remarkable. Latin American Tapas with a super funky atmosphere! This place is amazing. I love the concept of food carts and shared service. We went here on Black Friday and were suprised to be seated right away! They have a nice list of hand crafted cocktails, beer, & wine. The food menu is small with a few family style entrees that feed around 4 people and a Tapas menu with about 8 to choose from. We choose to do Tapas. The service is fantastic. All servers work all the tables which means you are constantly being checked on and you really never wait long for anything. Almost immediatly food carts with Tapas come to your table. The servers describe the Tapas and once you select a couple, they stamp your menu and move on. This allows you to eat a little, relax, and then choose more as the carts come by. The timing of the dinner flow couldn't have been more perfect. All the food was delicious but I especially enjoyed the shrimp ceviche and cuban shredded beef. Be sure to check out Super Mega Bien it will not disappoint! read more

I was in town for a conference and a colleague found this place online. Small funky restaurant with cool artwork and decor. We shared a 4 different tapas from the small plate menu, it was all amazing! And, what seems to be a trend in Denver, they had house-made tonics. I had a floral tonic with gin, so good! Not overly sweet but the floral essence was refreshing and gave it a smoothness. Very unique, I'd highly recommend. The server, Christy, was an absolute gem and all the staff were friendly and attentive. Great service, friendly, good recommendations, and the food was prompt and fresh. We finished with a rum cocktail and the coconut flan. Nice and creamy, not that weird jello-y stuff you see in some restaurants. I'd highly recommend this place and I'd definitely come back if I'm ever back in Denver. read more

I loved this unique dim sum restaurant. My favorite was the carne asada with chimichurri sauce on the dim sum menu. They had a separate menu to order from the kitchen and a dim sum menu with dishes that come around on the cart. Great if you are super hungry. You can get delicious food right away. We were able to look at the dim sum menu first, which helped us plan our meal. And not have to guess what might be offered like traditional dim sum restaurants. The tortillas off the kitchen menu were amazing. No reservations accepted when we visited. We got there right when they opened at 5pm and had no problem but it got crowded by 6pm on a Saturday. Me likey! Very similar to Work & Class, with some added Latin flair. Just like their OG sister, Super Mega Bien offers different portion sizes at a variety of price points. For someone that likes to try lots of small bites and doesn't want to spend mucho dinero at the same time, this sort of situation is idea. SMB has entrees, for vegetarian and meat-eaters. There's also the daily selection of dim sum that comes around in the cart. The menu provided tells you what to be on the look out for, as well as how much it costs, usually between $4-8 each. Grab what you like and they'll mark your check at the table. I didn't pig out too hard upon first visiting -- it was hot and I was enjoying my glass of white wine. But I already have plans to go back and order a lot more. It'd be a fun group dining experience. Or just keep your arm up and tell anyone who puts their silverware near your plate(s) to back off... that's 100% up to you. read more

Visited Super Mega Bien on a Thursday around 9pm. We purposely went here during the week cause the place doesn't take reservations and I'm pretty sure there will be a long wait during the weekends. We were surprised that the place was packed even on a Thursday at 9pm. We were seated near the bar given that was the only opening with couple of seats next to the kitchen. First the place is amazing in terms of getting your moneys worth, same great food as other good restaurants in the area but half the price. If you are a couple then I would recommend ordering half a portion from the main menu and get 4 items from the cart. We went with the duck half portion from the main menu. It was good and thought the relish salad balance the strong duck flavor dressing nicely. The Brazilian coconut shrimp soup was great too, but might be a bit too spicy for many. Our favorite was ropa vieja, highly recommend ordering it for the table. The carne asada was good but not as good as the ropa vieja. Overall a great place to visit, maybe you will have to wait a bit during the weekends so plan ahead. I'm sad to say that this place was just okay. I had been wanting to try it for awhile and I think the concept is amazing and so fun for a group of people. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the hype and everything was just fine. I feel like our group tried a good amount of their dishes and nothing really stood out to me as being amazing. Fun, different, a great way to try a variety of foods! I don't know if I am in agreement that the place is Mega, felt pretty small, but I do agree that this place is great. Its Latin American food (Pupusas, Ropa Vieja, Chicken Wings with Mole, etc) served Dim Sum style on small trays they push around the dining room. You see something you want? You get it and they stamp your paper. They also have larger plates for the table as well. We opted for the half chicken for our table with 2 adults and 2 kiddos while leaving room for several of the small dim sum style dishes too. The menu rotates weekly. I think my favorite was the Ropa Vieja, the Egg Rolls, and the Shrimp and Octopus Ceviche. The cocktails are great too. I tried this Pisco cocktail, lime, and ginger beer. Think a Moscow Mule with Pisco. They also have homemade tonics so if Gin and Tonic is your thing, they have some options there too. Some other information: small dining room, no reservations, so get there early to guarantee getting in. Also no high chairs for kids but they do have these cool lids they put on Mason jars for kids. Because the food comes out quickly, I think on one hand its kid friendly as long as they are old enough to sit in a seat and arent picky! This place is super fun and different than any other place I've visited, in Denver or anywhere else! I love that it is allergy friendly and has options for those with dietary restrictions but doesn't skimp on flavor or adventure in the meantime. I love that you can try dishes from the dim sum cart or order a bigger entree or a little of both! We had the Spanish rice and braised lamb and both were seriously delicious and well portioned for 3 ladies. We got the carne Assad's and Brussel sprouts from the cart. The cocktails are fun too! Our waitress was spunky, friendly, and knowledgeable about allergies and the whole menu. The only real complaint is that we basically had to request what we wanted from the cart before we could get it. It wasn't exactly like true dim sum where there is enough made to have enough in the cart for every table that wants it to get it. And then when there is food that doesn't get picked up...we got asked about 4 times if we wanted something because no one chose it...it got a little annoying ah omg to decline it multiple times. read more

I loved the bright colors, modern and chill vibe, and the eclectic feel. Not to mention the staff was super friendly and helpful. The star of the show is definitely the food. Once we figured out the whole order from the cart thing, we were staring at a counter full of small plates ready to dig in and share. Holy cow, everything was delicious. I can't even say what was better than the other because I was equally impressed with everything I grabbed. I couldn't get enough and probably ate enough for 3 people just on my own. Delicious food! We came in and sat at the bar for happy hour. The bartenders were super friendly the restaurant is small but cozy. Food was the star though (as it should be). HH includes drinks with $4 draft beer and $7 cocktails. Food deal is 15% off all small plates. We started with the Brazilian shrimp sopa which was very flavorful but lacking on shrimps or veg included in curry sauce. It was probably my least favorite in terms of the food / ingredients you get. Next we did the pork wings and these were delicious! A beautiful glaze and really meaty wings. Finally we ordered the slow braised pork with fried plantains and took the bartenders Rec of ordering 4 homemade tortillas on the side and made our own tacos. You know the culinary world in Denver is evolving when you see Latin Dim Sum! New concept executed very well. They are owned by the same people as Work and Class, so you know their food is going to be delicious. My only warning is that it'll add up very quickly, so watch your wallet. They have a menu you can order drinks and large portions from, but they also have the dim sum carts rolling around. Waiters will carry trays over with food too. I eat with my eyes, so it's very helpful to see my options. Everyone is very friendly and will check in if you need more food. Don't be afraid to request something even if a cart isn't around. The only downside to Latin Dim Sum is that you don't know all the food options they have. Traditional Dim Sum you pretty much know what you're going to get, but that's definitely not the case here. It's like learning how to eat dim sum all over again. Recommendations: Octopus Shrimp Torta - Great sauce, crunch and octopus Ropa Vieja - 100% get this! the meat is flavorful and delicious and the fried plantain surprise at the bottom ties it together perfectly Fried Squash Blossom - delicious and flavorful. The sauce really compliments it well Pork Shoulders - if you're looking for something more substantially get this. The portion was large and the pork was delicious. Make sure to dip the bread into the pork juice. Dessert Empanada - Amazing. I should've just gotten an order for myself. Biggest regret was splitting it with my friends. Tres Leches - I don't personally recommend it, but if you like orange and chocolate it's for you I went on day 2 and I thought they were doing a fantastic job. I'd say give it a shot for the interesting experience on it's own. The food is great and you can even sit outside as the weather gets nicer. read more

AMAZING! I'd had negative dim sum cart experiences in the past, so I was hesitant, but we were on a time crunch and on a Saturday night, there was no wait for four. Of course, we ordered more than necessary and had leftovers, but most of the dishes were worth it. Must try: Spanish rice off the main menu and ropa vieja with plantains off the cart. We also tried the eggplant dip, stuffed peppers, and half chicken, which were very good. The nightly special of meatballs were less liked. The carne asada was bland and not worth the price. The warm fish dip was interesting, but didn't compare with the other dishes. The dessert of panna cotta was perfectly sized for a few bites of very rich and sugary custard. True to its namesake, this place is a good time! Our group arrived around 6:30 and contrary to what I thought, we barely had to wait for a table. It is hip, lively, and fun. Maybe not the best venue for a romantic date night, but def a good pick for birthdays, girls night out, or group dates. We picked the ceviche off the dim sun cart (no, this place isn't Asian). We ordered the Best Chicken and Hot Stone Soup for the main entrees. They had a great wine list to accompany the menu as well as other craft cocktails. The chicken dish is served with a whole rotisserie chicken but comes with all the accoutrements to make your own tacos. Yum! The Hot Stone Soup is original and filled with seafood in a tomato based broth. It wasn't my favorite but the group I was with loved it. We also ordered the Spanish rice to share and I do think this was the highlight of my meal. Oozing with cheese and crispy rice in a cast iron skillet...what's there not to like?! The decor and service are fantastic. We were there at 5pm this last Sarurday and were able to take advantage of Happy Hour pricing on all 'dim sum' and a few drinks and beers and so we got a good deal too, which was nice, hence the four stars. The papas bravas were by far the favorite dish, spicy and tender with pork sausage and tomatoes. This blew all four of us away. The ropa vieja we ordered two of, the first dish was cold the second was hot and this made all the difference. The flavors were good, but more plantains please! The sweet of the plantains really went with the pork which had the texture of pot roast, so with the hot dish the meat fell apart on the cold one it was more like a solid block of meat. We also tried the shrimp 'ceviche', that was not ceviche in that I tasted no lime, and it was smothered in a creamy sauce. This dish was sort of bland and wouldn't order it again. The pork 'wings' were fall of the bone good, but would have liked more sauce and the arancini type risotto balls were yummy. Would have liked a second order, but we were full. We enjoyed our mojitos and had a fun time. My main critique is some of the food was cold and that about half was good, a quarter was ok and two dishes were outstanding. If you go early, this place is enjoyable, if you go late could be painful. Had we gone any later, would give this three stars, but our service was really good. read more

It's a fun spot with quality food and I like that the first question they ask is whether you have any food allergies. There are lots of gluten-free options, but when you're both dairy and gluten-free they'll be more limited. They were able to take the cheese off the beet salad and the Spanish rice to make it vegan. The hummus and chips are also a good vegan option. The drinks are strong! One of the better Old Fashioneds I've had, just wish they had those large ice cubes rather than regular ones. The stand-out dish was the Spanish rice, basically a paella, and the half size is plenty for two. It's has sweet potato, asparagus, shiitake mushrooms, plus fresh greens on top. Make it vegan by omitting the cheese. The best part are the crispy bits on the bottom of the cast iron pan, yum! Unfortunately, none of the desserts are dairy free- booh. Also probably not the best place for a first date, as it's very noisy and we had a hard time understanding each other's words. read more

I feel like a grumpy old lady who doesn't like stuff that's cool, but this place was not my vibe. Super dark, loud, and crowded inside. And I'm only half in on the dim sum concept. It seems like a way to get you to order more food and spend too much? It's fun to see what the dish looks like, I guess? But it's already so crowded that the people pushing the carts around makes that worse. FWIW, I got a salad and the carne asada and made myself a steak salad that was really delicious but very much overly soaked in oil. They were helpful accommodating food sensitivities. But, the menu has gf marked for items made in a shared fryer, so if you are looking online for gluten free options and that's a problem for you, you should know that. There were still several things I could get that looked great and they explained it all very helpfully in person. Really, it was just so dark? I couldn't read the menu and I like being able to see my expensive food. And I get that a place looks cooler if you have to wait an hour for a table. I guess, theoretically, you can make a reservation, but that's hard bc they reserve most of the seating for walk-ins. So whatever. We got there before 6 on a Saturday night and only waited a few minutes. But when we were leaving at 7, there was an hour wait. I would maybe go back at 5 when there are less crowds and daylight so I can see. I suppose the conclusion of this review is mostly just that I have the expected dining habits of the elderly. But I'm 39. So, shrug. If you are grumpy like me, maybe you will find this helpful. read more
