My wife and I stopped by Stav's diner today after googling "best biscuits and gravy in Columbus" and we definitely agree! You immediately feel like family when you walk through the doors. They had pandora music playing on a TV and everyone welcomes you in. We chose to sit at the bar, but there are a few tables. I can definitely see this place getting busy and having a long wait... so make sure you are prepared for that! Stav cooks everything himself and takes the time to get to know you while he does it! There are so many friendly faces behind the bar. The other person helping with the food was recommending a chili that he personally made and it warmed my heart to see the excitement on his face when people were trying it! My wife was going to order the biscuits and gravy and a side of eggs, but the waitress recommended the "stacker". The stacker came with hash browns, eggs, cheese, biscuits and gravy all together! I ordered an omelet with spinach, cheese, and bacon. We also ordered coffee. The staff made sure we had fresh coffee and plenty of creamer the entire time! I never once felt like an inconvenience for asking for anything! I will definitely be back for the French toast after seeing it made for another customer! This small diner is going to be one of our regular spots from now on! We love the atmosphere and the amazing food! read more

Love this place! We have stopped here in the past when we fly into Columbus. Sitting at the bar watching the owner doing his magic on the cooktop! This trip our group enjoyed chocolate chip pancakes, regular buttermilk pancakes, eggs and bacon , Western Omelette and the absolutely delicious hash browns!! By far the best I've had! Consistently great service and food! I have a tough time trying anything new because I love the gyro omelette so much! I've also had the bologna w/ Swiss omelette - fantastic!! Overall, disappointed. They were out of a lot of the things I wanted for breakfast which steered me in a lunch direction. Ordered a burger and their lemon orzo soup (can't remember the actual name of it right now). Started with the soup and it was DELICIOUS!!!! No salt or pepper needed, the lemon really popped, orzo was well cooked and it too soggy and a decent amount of meat even in my ridiculously small $4 container. Then we get to the burger. I stayed in the store to watch them cook because I like watching line cooks work. Here is where the disappointment truly began, a burger patty taken out of the fridge/freezer added to the grill with no seasoning. A piece of cheese was put on with my bacon and it was topped with lettuce and tomato. Didn't notice there were no condiments until I left and it was too late so that was step one of being dry. Patty was slightly overdone and not seasoned. Last step was that I paid the $2+ upgrade for onion rings and I got 8 onion rings. And not the "this is as gin as my Palm" onion rings, the normal if not some were small onion rings. The flavor was ok, but again frozen not home made so I could have just fried some when I got home. In summary, I went to this place because it looked like a quaint diner where I thought things would be homemade and it wasn't. I would be ok with frozen items if they were done right but the size to price ratio just makes me want to stay home next time :-/ read more

Each borough of Columbus has their own "go to" places. Bexley has Stav's Diner. Behind the facade of a strip mall, there is a a small diner that has to be experienced. Not only do you get one of the best diners in Columbus, you also get a show ( i suggest you get a counter seat.). This is one of those places that the waitresses will reach over, around, besides, to grab something and put their free hand on your shoulder or back , saying "excuse me honey" and with that, they make you feel at home. This is not, however, you want to spend hours at. It's small, and treasures like this need to be shared. Highly recommend this place! read more

We ventured out to this side of town because my mother-in-law lives on the Eastside of Columbus and she recently had some major medical problems. We wanted to try Scotty's but they aren't open on the weekends which I didn't know but this was just a few doors down. It's my kind of place that's not corporate but a Mom and Pop place. It's a very small diner and it's not made for large groups. It has a bar and a few two and four tops. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient. You could order breakfast or lunch. I opted for the BLT and potato chips. My husband got the biscuits and gravy with over medium eggs. read more

I came to the diner on a Sunday to order take out, but they could not take out orders due to the volume and presence. My girlfriend and I came back on a Sunday to dine in and we were seared quickly. The menu was your classic diner food and I loved it! I am a HUGE French toast fan so getting that was a no-brainer. Man, the French Toast was some of the best I've ever had. The egg wash was well coated and the toast was soft. I can taste it now typing this review. The turkey sausage, eggs, and potatoes were great too! The staff was so nice and gave some book recommendations! One of my favorite places in Columbus! read more

I've driven past Stav's a countless number of times since moving near its neighborhood a year ago. It wasn't until recently that I realized that there was a diner there (saw a sign they had outside pointing to the diner.) Finally tried it out for brunch on Sunday and was pleasantly surprised! We arrived at the diner around noon and was seated right away. The waitress quickly came to the table to offer coffee and to take our order. After about 10 minutes, the food came out hot and tasted delicious. The coffee was even great and I am not much of a coffee drinker. All the staff encountered were also pleasant and checkout at the counter was a breeze. I will definitely return to Stav's again whenever I am in need of a tasty breakfast or lunch served up quickly. read more

ALWAYS crowded so get there early. They get you in and out though, so it's not a bad wait. There usually some counter seats where they can seat you too. Everything I've had has been very good. Love their corned beef and hash! I understand the no takeout on Sunday morning rule for just "take out", but I actually ate inside and they wouldn't let me also get a carry out order. It was going to be for my dad who couldn't make it into the restaurant/wait at his age. Next time I'll just order two meals, eat one and then get the other boxed. When there's a will, there's a way. read more

We came here strictly because of the gyro omelette. This is a tiny, midwestern, homey diner. Someone else described it as "cheers without beer" -- so accurate. The maximum seating at a table is 3...there is a counter that you can sit at. But I recommend only coming with a party of 3 or fewer. They do get you in quick if there is a line. We got there shortly before 11 and waited about 10 mins for a party of 2. There is parking on site -- most likely you'll have to park in the back The service is impeccable!! The only complaint my boyfriend had was that the meat in the omelette wasn't even through out. He would've also added tomatoes and onion (and mayyybe tzatziki sauce on the side). The GEF was so good! I ordered with an over easy egg and added onion and tzatziki sauce on the side -- I highly recommend this!! The coffee was really good especially for diner coffee --when we checked out I realized it was because they grind their coffee in-house. read more

Amir and I, woke up at 8 am and decided to head to Stav's diner. Unlike Amir this was my first time at Stav's. The food here is GREAT.. amazing actually. Everything was straight off the grill. The diner itself is very, small. We were literally only a couple feet away from the people at the diner bar, which made our meal a lil less intimate, but that's ok because the food made up for it. I had the veggie omelet with American cheddar cheese, hash browns and Turkey sausage links. Amir had the Greek omelet both meals were 5/5. read more

Wow! What a treat nestled in Bexley! The friendliest staff who knew so many of those entering by name! We were greeted with the same warmth, which was definitely appreciated on a busy Sunday. The food was equally amazing!!! I ordered the gyro omelet, which came with hash browns and toast. I'm not a big egg fan, but this was delicious! The gyro meat was perfectly seasoned! It was amazing sitting at the counter to get to see the food being prepared and how well everyone worked with each other. The coziness of the diner and the music playlist was great too! SEVEN WORDS: Upscale Diner / Good Grub / A Smidge Pricey. So...this was actually an off-ramp trip - where we'd planned to go one place, but ended in another. Lucky Us! Went on a weekday mid-morning, so the place was empty. After speaking to the cook about his "Spam Special", I ordered it. The sandwich came out in about 7-8 minutes (normal fast), while the hash browns took an extra five minutes or so - and came out separately. The Special was basically a breakfast sandwich with eggs, cheese, and SPAM tucked into a biscuit. All parts of the whole were FANTASTIC! The SPAM was partly carmelized, the eggs tasted like milk or sour cream had been added before scrambling, and the buscuits were just as light and fluffly. I gobbled it down and as the hash browns came out, they were crispy on the outside and I gobbled them down, washing it all down with a small glass of milk. My breakfast partner had a basic plate and she enjoyed it, too. Our bill total came to 20 and change - which seems a little steep for a single drink and two basic breakfast plates. Still...I'd definitely go back again and again. It was a great experience and the food was both filling and tasty. read more

You HAVE to get the challah French toast. It was absolutely delicious. The biscuits and gravy were bomb also. They use sausage gravy and it was very flavorful. I could have drank the coffee black too, it wasn't super strong or bitter, just right. :) It's small inside so I wouldn't have more than 2-3 people per group. Watching the guy make all the food super quick was amazing. It's VERY clean in there and the staff is very friendly. :) We didn't plan to stop here on our way through Columbus, but we will next time we're back!! read more

Stav's is located next to the Panera Bread on Broad St. Parking is limited up front so I had to park in the back. The inside is pretty small, with maybe 6 tables or so and then a countertop with barstools. We went at 10 am on a Saturday and there was no wait but as we were leaving we saw a small line. Be aware that there might be a line since the restaurant is so small. There is only one cook for the restaurant but we didn't have to wait too long for our food despite the restaurant being full. Our waitress was very friendly. One thing to be aware of is that they don't do 'to-go' orders. The waitress explained the reason to me though I didn't quite understand, but just wanted to make others aware. For my meal I ordered the gyro omelette (gyro meat, onions, feta cheese) with no onions and it was SO good! My only wish is that there was a bit more gyro meat inside. Regardless though, the meat was super flavorful and I've never had feta in an omelette but I thoroughly enjoyed it! read more

I am not sure how I missed this place before since I live nearby, but it has instantly become a new favorite. The food was exactly to order and delicious. Who knew that some eggs, bacon, toast, and hash browns are so much better than others? Well, Stav did apparently! I will never go back to regular toast after having the Challah toast. The coffee was great too. The staff were friendly and worked together like a well-oiled machine. The peach pie I took home was just wonderful too. This is the place that you take the out of town guests to impress them. We'll be back again soon. read more

I adore a great breakfast place and Stav's Diner is at the top of the list for Columbus. Tiny location, perfect for two, definitely not great for groups. If you like an open kitchen restaurant, you'll love Stav's too. Watch the chef make your breakfast and then dive into loaded pancakes, I loved them with sausage. Then omelet was amazing as well. One of my places to grab breakfast! It is a popular spot so coming early or weekdays would probably be best because there is very limited seated and parking. It is a diner style restaurant with a few tables and bar seating. Not the best for groups. I've had pancakes, french toast, biscuits and gravy, and the blte sandwich and they have all been great!! Everything always comes out fresh and hot! I usually see the same faces when I come in and they are always friendly! I would love to get in for lunch soon! read more

We love Stav's! What's not to love?! The eggs and omelets are fluffy, the hash browns are SO CRISPY and the pancakes and French toast are the BEST I've ever had. Truly. I'd like to have this everyday for breakfast/brunch. Friendly service too! We are so lucky to have this neighborhood diner. My husband can't wait until covid is over so he can pretend like he's an already retired man and read the newspaper with coffee and have a perfect breakfast at the bar every Friday or Saturday AM!! read more

The worst corned beef hash I've ever had. It was more potatoes than corned beef. I didn't even taste corned beef. I ordered over medium eggs, which means the whites are cooked and yellow is runny. They were light over easy. Bacon was very limp and not cooked all the way. Service was great people were extra nice though. I was a lead breakfast cook for 5, so I know my stuff. They were busy, but the cook needs to make sure he cooks the food right. This is the first restaurant review I've ever given read more

The focus on the beer was mostly on lagers, which I love. Only negative: the man pouring the taps there one of the nights has no clue what he was talking about. I asked him the difference between two of the bocks they had on tap (a helles bock and a maibock...debately the same style, if not very similar) and he said "how strong the Belgian yeasts are" in a very confident tone. I told him I had never heard of bocks being made with Belgian yeasts, and he said it's "a Cincinatti thing". I got a taste of the beer, and there were no phenolics (for non beer nerds: it had no Belgian flavors) so I ordered one and didn't argue.

We hit up several breweries on a recent trip to Columbus, and Hoster was my favorite beer of the trip. It was just well made, good tasting beer - nothing crazy. To top it off, there's bottomless self-serve popcorn and a vintage jukebox topped with a bowl of free quarters to play your favorite selctions from the decades. The collections of artifacts from Hoster's storied histories, make the walk to the bathroom like a visit to a mini-museum. I loved the homey decor and selection of tables, barstools, and comfy chairs. This place was somewhat family friendly, but it's not a huge space, so it's not great for tots that like to run around. I believe there might have been soooome seasonal outdoor seating, but nothing crazy. Lots of parking and easily accessible. The bartender was super welcoming, friendly, and generous! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, and it wasn't super busy - that was welcomed! Hoster is worth a visit if you're ever in the area. Their brews rival the big names in the area.

The bill came to nearly $50 and then we were asked for a tip. That last part stung a little, considering the service model is essentially counter-order takeout style. A friendly staff member directed us to grab a menu, decide what we wanted, and then come tell her. We did sit down and have our food brought to us, but it still felt more like a fast-casual setup than one that warrants a tip prompt. The restaurant itself is pleasant, clean, open, and airy with a nice patio out front. No complaints there. The food, however, was underwhelming. The breakfast tacos, supposedly the star of the show, were bland across the board and fell apart almost immediately. Three small tacos for $20 is a tough sell when there's nothing memorable about them. The Nutella pancake balls were decent but forgettable. The real highlight? The bacon, but that's not exactly a high bar. As for the orange juice, it comes pre-made and refrigerated near the register, which felt a little out of place for a spot with this kind of reputation. I genuinely don't understand the hype around the food here. The price point would be justified if the flavors delivered, but they simply don't. The staff were kind and the space is lovely, I just can't recommend making a special trip for the menu.

The flavor was decent although the cheese and all the seasoning kind of slid off in my hands. A little messy. Again, to be expected. But I had hoped for a little more favor. They do have assorted hot sauces all around the dining area. I also had a Horchata, small but heavily spiced and flavorful. The main drawback is the price. Two fairly small apps and a drink, for $30. It's good stuff though, but it's not some place I can eat very often. But for breakfast or brunch, or occasional other stops, it is a good choice.

Charming decor and friendly staff. However, my experience was ruined due to an error on my take out order. I placed an order for three additional meals with an add on order of sausages. Easy, right? I initially thought so, so I wasn't concerned about my order being incorrect. I get home and my order is missing main items like pancakes, french toast, utensils, and it looked as if the order was just slapped together. I call immediately and I explained that I just had an eaten there and then ordered additional takeout and my takeout order was incorrect. The nice young lady apologized and offered to have it remade. Now I accepted that and also stated since I have to come back up there what other compensation can you provide me. She then transfers me to the incredibly Customer Service oriented manager named Juan. I do hope you can sense the sarcasm. As I explained my situation to him stating what items have been missed, what was wrong with the order and what I expected ask a reasonable solution to this situation. He then goes on and asked me several questions over and over again about the takeout meal, I explained to him one more time to which he cut me off, overtalked me, and really wasn't listening to resolve my issue. When he asked again what I ordered I said I already told you. At which point, he cursed and said he did not want to be "a$$ hole" and basically gave me the impression that he was unwilling to fix this situation. So I told him I was going to speak to him in a nicer tone that he was talking to me that I wanted him to remake the meal. I would be there in 10 minutes and I would like it piping hot. To Juan's credit my food was ready once I arrived however, he proceeds to tell me that his waitress and his expediter both checked the order and it was correct when it left. Which wasn't true obviously. As a matter of fact, my friend said she watched the waitress grab the bag and didn't open it and just came to the table. I don't have a reason to go get free food from an establishment where I've already paid and tipped the server. Second of all he indirectly called me a liar to my face, which is poor service in its own right. Thirdly, when I asked what other compensation he was willing to provide me, he just simply smiled and said no he wasn't going to do anything. Juan needs to go back to the beginning of where Customer Service starts in order to be a better front of the house manager, because when your server makes an error, you own it you do not place the blame back on the customer. Juan needs to be retrained on how to actually service people, he does not know how to talk to anyone. He did not know how to de-escalate the situation. I have been in Customer Service for 25 years and 15 of those have been working in an escalation department that was the worst interaction I believe I have ever encountered with a manager to resolve a situation. I mean Wendy's resolved issues better than this. Being that this was my first time coming to Delaney's, it will also be my last time. Because if you treat any customers the way you treated me, is clear he has no respect for the patrons of this establishment.
