    Abner 's Burrito
    Gretchen T.

The best part of our trip was definitely the service. Sophia was our waitress, and she was very attentive and took lots of time to answer all our questions. When our friend couldn't have any of the normal sides, she offered lots of substitutes. The food was a little meh for us. My friend had Abner's Burrito and described it as a bunch of random meat thrown together that shouldn't have been put together. My other friend had the breakfast bowl, and she only rated it a 6/10. I had the chocolate chip pancakes, and they were good but very small. I was definitely still hungry after. It was very homey inside, and I think a lot of the customers were regulars. My only complaint was the bathroom floor was very sticky, and the stall had two confusing locks. Overall, I don't think I'd highly recommend it, but I wouldn't be opposed to coming back here.

Wasted money on half made, soggy food. I usually prefer a local restaurant and want to support as much as I can. The steak sandwich was one piece of soggy bread cut in half with a piece of hard dry steak. $16?? The Reuben had 4 slices of meat on it. You should be ashamed of selling people this crap and stealing their hard earned money. I paid $68 for dinner and now have to go buy more food to actually eat.

Custom omelette, home fries, and rye toast. Don't forget the coffee & glass of ice water!

I'm baaaaaack! This time I had breakfast for lunch. I had the customized omelette with home fries, and rye toast. No surprises! Just as delicious as I thought it would be. Service? When you consider that the waitress brought me my coffee and glass of ice water, just as I sat down, I guess you could say I've been in here often enough that I'm a "regular". Ambience? Yeah, there's ambience all right. It screams, "Sit down, shut up, and read your menu!" Can you tell I love this place?

Full bar. Nice amount of seating, inside and out. Front entrance or rear entrance with additional free parking. Located in downtown "Old Hilliard", on Main street which I like to call "Restaurant Row" because there are many choices for dining. Abner's is one of a few restaurants offering breakfast and it is worthy of repeat customer visits. Menu: B The menu is filled with the traditional diner menu expectations, including two full pages of breakfast menu selections. This was my first visit, so I went with my ultimate breakfast litmus test: omelette and home fries. Generally, if you like how this is prepared - you will like the entire menu. (The litmus test for lunch/dinner is chili, of course - but it was only 10:30am so eggs were my agenda) The omelette. It's a "make your own" version, which I appreciate. You select ingredients and the majority were a mere $0.35 each. Meats and cheese were slightly more - but very good value overall. I selected jalapeno, onion, bacon, and cheddar cheese. I asked my waitress about the potatoes and chose the home fries since they are hand-sliced and fried. I also selected an english muffin instead of my usual rye toast - this is not part of the litmus test, so I do vary this selection from time to time. Price: B+ Inexpensive to moderate, good value for serving size and selection. My omelette was $9.05 and included potatoes and toast (home fries, english muffin selected). The coffee was an additional $2.50 or so - not the best value if you plan on drinking just one cup but that's your decision (not a good decision) and the coffee is quite good. Food: B+ While the omelette was well cooked, I agree with most reviews stating the food is bland - but this was the simple lack of seasoning during cooking. Adding pepper and salt after cooking does not yield the same result in flavor but it's close enough and judging by the clientele, it's probably preferred to err on the side of low-sodium for the masses. Overall, it was a very satisfying meal. Staff: A From being greeted and encouraged to choose my own seat to having my drink order taken to my food order taken and delivered (4 different people) - everyone was friendly and efficient. The restaurant wasn't busy but it ran smoothly and my food did not take long to prepare. I am plotting a return visit to try the chili soon .... Abner's is on my permanent rotation for favorite diners.

Our server Kelcie, who was 5* by the way, helped us in navigating all the intricacies to the ingredients. Lots of nuance to the menu. Our choices: lamb appetizer, black cod, sirloin, and chocolate mousse; each were tasty, presented well, and excellent dishes. The potato cake on the steak was very different and well done. Our Old Fashion had a nice taste. The place is very small and reservations are a must. The GM Michael came by and chatted us up...to thank us for coming, and glad they were able to accommodate our food needs. Nice touch. Excellent bathrooms. Thanks for that. We were nervous at first because no one we talked to knew what Gene's was BUT we are SO SO SO glad we went! From the moment you step onto their property it was such an incredible experience. Who knew such a cute and quaint little restaurant could pack so much flavor and art into their food and such a personalized dining experience. While we had a reservation at 8:45, we decided to eat in at the bar after having the most incredible espresso martini of our lives and talking to John. My sister and I opted to share multiple courses - each of which was better than the last. It was an amazing experience and we were lucky enough to compliment and thank the executive chef in person. We left full and satisfied but not stuffed which is exactly what we were looking for! HIGHLY recommend Gene's if you're looking for an elevated dining experience and great service while in Dublin, Ohio!

I was a bit hesitant going in because it's been years since the last Yelp review -- that lack of recent buzz (good or bad) felt concerning. On a Saturday night, it wasn't overly busy, so we didn't have trouble getting a table (they don't take reservations but do accept call-aheads). I ordered the burger and onion rings, and both were genuinely delicious -- I was very happy with my food. Unfortunately, the experience wasn't as smooth for my friends. One has a severe seafood allergy, and she was shocked to learn that all fried items (fries, onion rings, etc.) are cooked in the same oil as the seafood. It made her nervous to order much else from the menu, and we almost walked out when we found out. A separate fryer or dedicated oil for non-seafood items seems like a basic accommodation these days. Two other friends are recovering alcoholics and were disappointed that the only "non-alcoholic" beer option still contained a slight amount of alcohol. Their only other choice was a sugary mocktail, which isn't great for diabetics either. In 2026, it's surprising that a restaurant/bar still struggles with these common dietary and lifestyle needs. The food we did eat was solid, but the evening felt dampened by the lack of basic accommodations. There are plenty of other places that handle allergies and non-drinkers much better. I would have scored them much higher if they could have accommodated this basics.

It was around 4:30 and wasn't busy yet. I sat at the bar in front of the giant screen showing a golf tourney (don't mind at all). Derek was one amazing bartender. I had the Clockwork Orange cocktail that had coconut on the rim, with the Burrata starter. Perfection. I asked Derek about the Farmer's Salad and the Green Goddess Salad. One is more fruity and the other is green with peas. Both sounded delicious. I chose the Farmer's with added salmon. I'll get the Goddess next time. I added a glass of the House Red, which is a light Cab. I loved my meal and my visit. It's very pretty and the service was excellent. Can't wait to return. The downstairs was closed when we arrived (Monday evening). Both the downstairs and the upstairs are very spacious with the downstairs having a large bar too. For appetizers we had a beautiful charcuterie board with a great selection of meats, cheeses, fruit, olives, artichokes, hummus and Gluten Free crackers and crostinis that were delicious!! You wouldn't have even known they were gluten free. Also had bacon wrapped dates and baked feta bites. The bacon wrapped dates were so good! For dinner we had chicken piccata, mahi, veggies, strawberry spinach salad, scalloped potatoes and a spaghetti squash dish that was vegetarian and vegan. Very clear signs on allergies that is much appreciated! Dessert we had flourless chocolate cake, mini cheesecakes, and one of my favorites - buckeyes! The space we had was great - mingling area for appetizers, buffet of food in the center of the room that separated the appetizer area and the seated dinner part. Plenty of room. Having a few more high top tables would have been great in the mingling area as holding your beverage and enjoying appetizers can be tricky with no table. Believe we had 40-50 people. I didn't get to take any photos, but a great space for what we needed - lots of windows and lights upstairs as well.
