Seriously, Jamie, just order some damned tea next time. Ok, so if you are not into coffee, but you love a solid breakfast this is a decent place to stop. I would especially recommend that you get a biscuit, either smothered in gravy or as your bread. The menu is standard diner fare, at least for breakfast. The diner is a bit small, so be prepared to wait during breakfast & lunch rush -- they don't have an actual hostess, you just get in line and wait for the next table to open up. This place is one of our go-tos! My *only* complaint is that looking around the ceiling and pictures/ducts/wiring up behind the counter, there's some unfortunate evidence that no one's dusted or cleaned anything up there in a while. I really like this diner. It's a nice environment, menu that hits all the diner greatest hits, great people that work as servers and in the parts we customers don't see. A clean bathroom is always a plus. Parking is always tight but doable. So why is the coffee so horrible? It looks and tastes like brown water. And it costs $3.50. Went to this little gem today for breakfast. The food and service were so good. I had the Breakfast Sandwich with egg, cheese, a side of bacon and crispy homefries. The egg was cooked perfectly on lightly toasted bread. The potatoes had the perfect amount of crispness and the bacon was done but not burnt. Everything came out steaming hot and fast. Saw this place online and immediately thought we need to try it. We went on a Saturday around 9:00 am. Place is vibrant and has an amazing feel. There was a wait, but the locals were welcoming to us. We waited about 30 mins for a table and the wait was well worth it. The wait staff was friendly and helpful as we had questions since it was our first time. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs. It's not on the menu, but it's a secret special. The gravy was definitely the star, the eggs were cooked perfectly. I'm going against my normal policy of not giving 5 stars after a first visit, but after looking at other reviews and not finding anything negative to say at all, I wlll throw all 5 stars. The negative thing about giving them 5 stars is it may increase their crowd and people may have to wait longer. This is a diner that is spacious by diner standards but they could be overwhelmed. I love dinors, I'm glad covid didn't kill them. We came at a good time and got seated right away at the counter. Things appeared to be exceptionally clean by restuarant standards. Keeping a dinor where the kitchen is wide open to the public clean is pretty difficult, but they do it. The food was exceptional in everyway. I love a good diner, and George's fit the bill. It's a little local place off of Indianola in Beechwold. Parking out front and around the back, but between George's and Portia's, it gets full! They have counter seating and booths. There was a wait for booths this morning, but you could plop right down at the counter, so counter it was! There are a lot of quirky signs and mismatched coffee cups to keep you entertained. Breakfast is all day, which is a proper diner must! Since we went in at lunch-ish time, I had the fish sandwich and home fries. I thought it was a pretty solid fried fish sandwich, and really loved that it home fries were an option! The ones here are just the way I like them - slices with crunchy bits. Standard diner coffee - black and strong, with little creamer pods on the table. There were a lot of options in the menu, and plenty of specials up on the board by the door, so if you're in the mood for some simple breakfast options, I think this is a solid place to try! read more

What a great find! We were yelping for a nearby diner, and George's came up with high marks. I am from Columbus and have driven up and down Indianola so many times and have never noticed this diner. We parked up front (only a few spaces) but saw many people drive to the back for parking. Seating is open--just seat yourself at any table that is clean. Our server stopped by and got us coffees and then took our orders a few minutes later. I got the meat lovers omelet. It was so good! It came with hash browns and toast. They don't have my go to raisin toast, but had cinnamon toast. For those who want brunch at a locally owned establishment (i.e., not a chain), this is it! We will definitely be stopping by again. I am going to try and get here for lunch one day. They close at 3pm and so not available for dinner :-( read more

George's Beechwold Diner is a great place to go for a no-fuss satisfying meal. I sat at the countertop for an early weekday breakfast, and the servers were so nice and attentive and friendly. We were able to sit wherever we wanted, and we were taken care of instantly. The servers constantly offered us more coffee throughout the whole meal and kept checking in which was nice. I ordered the Meat And Cheese Omelet filled with bacon and cheddar which was a little bit dry. It came with a side of potato chunks which were nice and soft and was super filling, but I wish it had a little more crisp or some other texture to it. It also came with a side of toast, which I asked for rye, which was perfectly toasty. I also ordered a pancake on the side which was much larger than I thought it would be, which was great. It was super soft and came with plenty of butter and syrup. My boyfriend ordered biscuits and gravy for his meal, which was a little too peppery for me; he has ordered that a few times from there and likes it though. I'll continue to come back and try something different to see what else I might like! But I'll make sure to at least order a pancake on the side as that was one of the best pancakes I've had. read more

A classic diner at it's best! We arrived to a full restaurant, which is very small, but waited on a few minutes for seats to open at the bar. Sitting at the diner bar gives you the best view of all the behind the scenes action. It's always my favorite place to sit when you're able to watch the cooks and wait staff. Our bar seats were right in front of the cooking area. Breakfast and a show! The attention to the grill and communication between the cook and staff made it apparent that they take pride in what they are serving. They do it so well! We ordered two different omelets that came with toast and hash browns as well as biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were the outstanding winner. Before serving them they are placed on the grill with butter for a quick slightly crunchy outside layer. The insides are soft and warm. It creates a perfect biscuit. We had heard great things about the gravy. It was just average but good. Possibly from a can but we liked it. Omelets were perfectly cooked with all the correct ingredients and cheese we requested. She stopped by our table 4 times before she took our order. We were ready when we sat down but she kept telling us she would be right back, and another time told us she wouldn't take our order. On the 4th visit she finally took our order. Our food arrived 20 min later. We still didn't have napkins or silverware, and had to ask for those to be brought. It took several tries before these items finally arrived. Out drinks were never refilled during our visit. The food was ok, and definitely wasn't that special. The price should have been cheaper due to the average tasting food. Order Breakfast bowl special $7.50, added hash browns for $1 Corn beef hash special with eggs & toast $7.95 Kids breakfast (1 meat, 1 egg, 1 hot cake) $5 When the meal arrived I noticed that the kid hotcake didn't look like a buckeye hotcake. They had to re-make it and brushed it off like no big deal. After the food was dropped off our waitress never stopped by again. So if we needed anything else we just did without. The other 2 meals were ok but nothing special. The "sausage gravy" in the breakfast bowl had little to no sausage and tasted more like a peppered white gravy. The "buckeye pancake" was a joke! There were a few chocolate and peanut butter chips dumped in the middle of the pancake. So there were only a few bites that sort of tasted like a buckeye pancake. Our daughter's pancake was supposed to be Buckeye flavor, which it turns out just means they add a few peanut butter and chocolate chips. The pancake pictured had to go back to be replaced. The buckeye pancake came out without butter. We were ready to order when the waitress dropped off our drinks, but she wasn't ready and told us to wait. This is another solid diner in Columbus in the Clintonville (Beechwold) area that is slinging out delicious breakfast and lunch classics. The place is small, but we didn't have to wait at all on a Friday morning. I imagine it could be different on the weekend. My girlfriend and sister went with your standard eggs, meat, and potatoes breakfast option, and everything was cooked perfectly including a tasty looking over-easy egg. I'm not much of a breakfast person, and they serve the whole menu all day, so I ended up trying the Philly cheesesteak as recommended by the server. Everything on it was chopped/diced, including the steak, and it was SO good! Their fries are crinkle cut, which I'm a huge fan of, and they had a nice crisp. I've wanted to go here for awhile, and now that I live much closer, I'm sure I will. Their menu is fairly small for a diner, which I like, because it allows them to really focus on doing everything well. Beechwold's a nice, relatively small classic diner. The breakfast menu is pretty typical of any standard diner, but their food is really good. I especially liked the home fries. When I was there I went with the garbage omelette, which was loaded with good stuff but it wasn't too big that I couldn't finish it all. They have counter seating - something I like - and booths and tables. It's in a good location too, right on Indianola and off the beaten track a bit. Our favorite spot, close to our house, went there almost every weekend and it's packed all the time. If you want to be seat right away should come before 11am! I always order half order of their french toast with something else(I love french toast too much) it's really simple, nothing fancy but it's really good! My husband and I visited back on Valentine's Day and it was amazing- everything you could hope for in a small diner. Even though this place looks like a tiny hole in the wall, the food was delicious and the service was outstanding. I had the steak and eggs and my husband had a burger (sadly I can't remember which he ordered) but we were both very satisfied with our food. Being there in February while COVID regulations were in full swing we really were impressed with how they handled separating the tables and cleaning everything often.
