Everything was perfect... the ambience, the food, the service.... the personalities of the owners made the meal perfect!

We stopped in this morning, and even though people were waiting outside, the line moved quickly, and we grabbed seats at the bar. We were immediately greeted by the owner and his wife, who were incredibly kind and welcoming. The service was quick, and the food... wow. Amazing! As you can see from the photo, we didn't hold back, from the fluffy pancakes to the French toast & breakfast burrito, everything was delicious. We found this place after a weekend camping trip with our Trail Life troop (and 2,000 other boys and leaders ). What a find! The food was delicious and, even though busy already at 6:45 AM, we were seated quickly and greeted very warmly. We had the breakfast burrito, pancakes, sausage gravy and biscuits, plus a few sides and an especially good side of homemade corned beef hash (thin-sliced corned beef fried up with sliced potatoes). Decided I would go out for breakfast this morning. Drove out to Sunbury Grill. Funny that it's always the same group of people sitting outside waiting for them to open at promptly 6:30 AM. That's when the shades get pulled up and door is unlocked. I went right to my table which already had my silverware and napkin PLUS my 2 glasses of Coke waiting for me. The diner steadily fills up. I come out here maybe once or twice a month. Kenny and his assistant are preparing food at the grill and shortly Kenny brings my food out. You're thinking when did someone take your order?? Well it's like this, that's what is cool about small town restaurants. I've been coming here for years and I get the same thing and I don't have to waste their time, they make my order and surprise it arrives at my table. 2 eggs over medium, homemade hash browns that are nice and crispy. And the star of the show is Biscuits and Gravy. The biscuits are crisped up on the grill with a little butter I believe. And load on that homemade sausage gravy. Yummy!!! In the hustle and bustle Daisy drops off my check while checking on every person in the diner. This is the definition of a Hometown Diner. People are nice, but food has a lack of flavor. Gravy just tasted like raw flour with no seasoning. It used to be a decent, simple breakfast for a good price - not anymore. First time in. We always say we wanted to go and finally did. Small quaint little place. We sat outside for a minute til a table opened up. Waited like 5 minutes. No biggie. Greeted right away drinks brought over. Coffee was very good. I got eggs, potatoes and toast. Can't remember what it was called. Hubby got the garbage omelet. With a side of potatoes. I've been here three times now and it is always the same which is fantastic. If you are looking for the hole in the wall diner with friendly family service and breakfast basics done to perfection then this is your place. I had eggs over easy with ham, potatoes, and rye toast with a side of one biscuit and gravy and it was all perfect. We arrived on a Saturday morning around 930, there was a sign on door saying short staffed no lunch or something like that, walked inside to a back in the day typical diner. Inside has like 8 booths and stools along counter. They cook in front of you like Waffle House. We were told 30 min wait but it was really only like 15min. While waiting there was benches outside to sit and a cute market going on across the street. When seated we were greeted right away by our server and drink and food order taken very quickly. We realized she was the only server and there was one cool and one dishwasher. I accepted our food to take a bit but it didn't at all. Food came out hot and fresh and was pretty tasty. Food, service, atmosphere, is hitting on all cylinders. In the category of small town diners, you expect a few minor blemishes. Bent silverware, chipped plate, a missed sticky spot on the condiment. Otherwise we would expect tablecloths, reservations, and deconstructed entrees. Here we expect to sit at the counter, while watching the staff work together in machine of rhythm of harmony. The small place is alive in chatter and good smells. There's barely any room inside to wait for a table, so if the weather is inclement, bring an umbrella. A few entry steps will make it difficult for any handicapped that's not agile. But I did see patrons jump up from stools to carry in a wheelchair. I've never had to send food back, but gotten a couple great tips from the staff to make it even better on the next order. Pro Tip: Add jalapenos to the garbage burrito or omelette. Add a fried egg to your burger. I've been multiple times for breakfast and a lunch or two. Friendly service has never wavered. The extra effort towards its food shows. If you are looking for upscale, exquisite place to eat, this is not the place. BUT if you are looking for a great place to eat with awesome prices, THIS IS IT. This was one of the friendliest and homely places . The food was piping hot when it was placed on the table, something that doesn't happen very often. We had corned beef hash, (which was made on the spot) with onions, potatoes, green peppers and obviously corned beef and 2 eggs. We also a ham and eggs omelet with hash browns. Stopped in here this morning to have breakfast. This little diner was packed the wait time was a half an hour to get in. Decided to wait it out and got in in 20 minutes or so. Got a seat at the Counter. It was worth the wait in the place was full the whole time I was there.The guys cooking which you could watch them hardly had time to look around. I got the garbage omelette and it was very good got it with sourdough toast. The Bread selection was good they had everything but the whole grain. Prices are very reasonable they have a daily special for $5.99 which is a couple eggs meat and toast. It's opening day at snowtrails so we looked for a diner on the way up north. Sunbury Grill seemed to be the spot for locals and the staff knew everyone coming in to dine! We started with lots of coffee and I had the garbage burrito with home fries on the side. The burrito held together well and it was tasty. My home fries were crispy like I requested!!! They brought around homemade cookies and pastries while you waited. It was a long wait so this helped. Also it's a pretty tight fit, id wait for a booth!! On a beautiful fall Saturday morning, we decided to drive up to the Sunbury Grill. It's a little country diner that's been there for years and is old, has a very crowded space and yet it has a real homey feel and people seem to flock to it. At least it's that way for breakfast, but we've never been there for lunch or dinner. I ordered the Daily Special which came with 2 eggs, home fries, breakfast meat and bread. I ordered my eggs over medium (I cannot stand it when the whites are runny) well done crispy potatoes, 1 sausage & 2 pieces of crispy bacon (choice of 4 slices of bacon or 2 sausage patties) and my bread choice was a biscuit. I was going to add one blueberry pancake. My husband suggested we split an order of their cinnamon swirl French toast instead, so we did. It was very good. The rest of my order came. Some of my potatoes were crispy, some weren't. Luckily they gave a large portion so there was enough crispy ones. The eggs were over easy and some of the whites were a bit too runny for my taste. I really should have sent them back but I didn't realize it til after our server had checked on us. My bacon was a bit chewy. It looked like it was going to be crispy & I even waited a few minutes before I tasted it but it didn't crisp up. The sausage was really good and fresh! The biscuit was split and grilled on the griddle. It was sooo good! I was a bit disappointed in 1/2 my meal and I really should have sent it back. How can someone make things right if they don't know there's a problem, so that was my fault. Our server, Daisy, was great! She's a real asset to them, but so is the other server, although I didn't get her name. Will we go back? Yes we definitely will and if things aren't great, this time I will definitely say something, but I've been there before and every thing was good so it may have just been an off week.
