I was looking for a place to have a good breakfast following a medical procedure that required a clear liquid diet and fasting beforehand. Under those conditions, even crappy food can taste good. But truly amazing food goes to a whole new level. It was my great good fortune to find HangOverEasy in close proximity to the medical office. I ordered the cinnamon roll French toast with a side of bacon. On a normal day, this dish would have blown me away. Today, I believe it is one of the best things I've ever eaten. Ever. So delicious with the vanilla cream and fresh blueberries. It was served with maple syrup but honestly it was so good without syrup. My husband ordered the Derby stuffed pancakes at the recommendation of our server, and he continues to rave about them. They had a nice balance of chocolate and walnuts. This dish was also served with maple syrup, but it was delicious without it. Our service was outstanding and the atmosphere was fun and laid back. This was one of the most frustrating brunch experiences I've had. We joined the waitlist and almost immediately received a text saying our table was ready. By the time we walked to the host stand--literally within seconds--we were told we had already lost our spot. They put us back on the waitlist and told us it would be about 20 minutes. After waiting around 25 minutes, we received another text saying our table was ready. Once again, we went straight to the host stand, only to be told there wasn't actually a table available. We asked if we could at least sit at the bar, but since we were a party of four, that wasn't an option. Instead, they added us to the waitlist for a third time and told us to wait another 20 minutes. The most disappointing part was watching more than 10 couples get seated while we continued to be overlooked. It felt like the waitlist system was completely disorganized, and the staff offered no real explanation or solution. After wasting nearly an hour, we decided to leave and have brunch somewhere else. I didn't care for the omelette due to the mushrooms being canned and the steak not being seasoned. Came for breakfast on a Sunday about 1045 with my siblings. Was able to be seated immediate as we joined the wait list about 30 minutes before we arrived. We ordered a the vegetarian omelet, a ham and cheese omelet, cinnamon roll French toast, and the Ohio burger. I personally thought the burger was awesome. The cinnamon rolls french toast was a hit and they liked the biscuits as well. My siblings had a few small complaints about the omelets but nothing major. My sister asked to replace the pickled onions in her omelet with regular onions and they said they couldn't do that? Slightly on the pricy side for the portions served. I truly chaotic experience picking up a to-go order. I walk in and the place is packed almost wall to wall. A huge party was in the way of the waitress stand (that was unmanned anyway) and the bartender was very clearly trying to not make eye contact. There definitely has to be some kind of fire hazard associated with the amount of people in the way of walk ways. Finally get my to-go order home. The biscuit is SO good. Turkey sausage and potatoes have a good flavor. Eggs are a little bland but nothing salt can't fix. The French toast was thick and good but I don't think it's worth the price I paid. The french toast by itself was the same price as the "angry egg" combo. I would probably come back, definitely order take out again, but only when I'm ready to fight for my life in a crazy Saturday "brunch" crowd. read more

I was down the road for an appointment and searched for a local breakfast place and came across HangOverEasy. I had been to the near University of Cincinnati and was happy with my experience, so I wanted to try it again. First off, I appreciated that I was able to park for free during the day on the same block. That was a convenience that I didn't expect in this area. It was almost closing time on a weekday, as I came in about 1pm for lunch (but was craving breakfast food!). There were several tables occupied, but I was able to get seated right away. I was greeted with a smile and an inviting tone as I walked in and seated promptly. I was between several items- the omelette and french toast both sounded amazing, but I wasn't too hungry, so I opted for the angry egg, which is two eggs, toast, and "hoe" fries (see: HangOverEasy), which are breakfast potatoes. I thought about ordering iced coffee as I do love some iced coffee, but opted for the Old Fashioned Cold Brew, which is an old-fashioned with a slight bit of cold brew in there. The drink was out in a jiffy and the food wasn't too long of a wait either. The old-fashioned tasted good and it was reasonably priced. I could've just gone for iced coffee and probably will sometime, but how often do I drink whiskey with my breakfast? Probably never? So why not? The food was great. It was a reasonable portion on a regular-sized plate, which is just what I was looking for. For the price, it felt more than worth it. I also ordered "breakfast protein" on the side, which was an additional upcharge, but I REALLY APPRECIATE that the vegetarian protein was equal in price to the meat! Being vegetarian, I'm always looking for these little things. And the vegetarian protein tasted great! Considering the friendly service, the great vibe and feel of the place, and the good food and drink, I'd 100% return here. Overall I would not recommend this place. First parking is a challenge. I drove around the block a couple of times and eventually found a spot on the street. I visited about 8:30 am on a Wednesday. Seating was not a problem. Service was suspect at best. I was asking the size of the pancakes so I would not order too much food. The pancakes in Texas are very large. She said the size of a plate, asked okay what size is the plate. I went on to explain this is our first time and we live in Texas, everything in Texas are large portions. I shouldn't have had to explain myself. Nonetheless the conversation continued and was not very helpful at all. She eventually apologized for coming across with an attitude. For her to notice herself is good but also bad because it was not necessary. The food arrive very fast which was great. There were egg whites ordered which looked like an 1/2 an egg when they brought them to the table maybe two bites. The pancakes were small and not the size of the plate. I asked for an extra syrup and it came with an extra charge. I was told because it is local syrup. Okay what difference does that make. Nonetheless there should have been a free option on the syrup. The turkey sausage tasted like it had already been cooked and was on stand by. On top of that the pancakes were not very good, overcooked. The appetizer ordered was apple bacon and it was very good. I had to ask for water and on my way out the door I finally was asked for a coffee refill. Overall not impressed with the service or the food. I would not recommend. read more

We stopped in for brunch on a Sunday morning. We had a large party in. You have to make reservations once you arrive and we staggered in. They said the wait would be longer than it actually was, so that's a plus. They have an interesting menu. And we definitely like variety. There was something for everyone. I ordered the Melon mimosa and chicken and waffles. They didn't pair well, but both were good. Their hot coffee machine was broken... I really wanted a latte! Our waitress was very friendly, and our food came out relatively quickly. I would definitely stop by here again when visiting Ohio. There is street parking and a lot across the street. read more

This is a modest little hipster joint, where you get an amazing breakfast with friendly service for a reasonable price. I could not find the wait list in the website, but you scan a bar code when you enter and you are on. The decor is really nothing to speak of in my book. There are giant DC comics on one wall, but the tables and chairs are low budget diner looking fare. But the fact that the tables can be dragged around meant they could adapt to group sizes and seat people quickly, so probably a good strategic choice. I have to start by saying this place is positioned in a perfect spot next to the college. I chose this place off the strength of the amazing pictures that have been taken of this place. I did enjoy the ambiance and the staff especially when I found out what the acronym was. The staff was very friendly and helpful when I asked questions. My chicken and waffles is normally how I judge breakfast spots and I did like the take they took on it adding the mild hot sauce on the tenders. If I could make a suggestion--please have an allergen ingredient menu available for customers to look at other than a gluten free menu which does me no good. Oh the bacon! It is a peppered bacon that is thick and crunchy. The maple syrup is local, from Akron and also delicious. My husband enjoyed BEC (bacon, egg, and cheese) and my daughter enjoyed her omelet. If you get bread, get the biscuit! It's big and fluffy.
