I'm rarely up for breakfast, but Hangover Easy is always a great option on the rare occasion I am up early. I got the HOE Benny with potatoes...delicious! I also tried a cocktail that had honeydew (I think) and sparkling wine, also tasty. Another easy breezy visit :).
Great little brunch spot. Service was fantastic, server was friendly and had a smile the whole time. Restrooms are clean. Food was fresh, hot and full of flavor. The frog eyes were delicious. Hearty but good. I topped it off with homemade toaster strudel which was fantastic. A melon drama mimosa was a nice treat to wash the food down. My husband had the sausage bowl which he said was wonderful. The fresh onions and peppers were nice. He topped his meal off with a house Bloody Mary which was well made.
I truly chaotic experience picking up a to-go order. I walk in and the place is packed almost wall to wall. A huge party was in the way of the waitress stand (that was unmanned anyway) and the bartender was very clearly trying to not make eye contact. There definitely has to be some kind of fire hazard associated with the amount of people in the way of walk ways. Finally get my to-go order home. The biscuit is SO good. Turkey sausage and potatoes have a good flavor. Eggs are a little bland but nothing salt can't fix. The French toast was thick and good but I don't think it's worth the price I paid. The french toast by itself was the same price as the "angry egg" combo. I would probably come back, definitely order take out again, but only when I'm ready to fight for my life in a crazy Saturday "brunch" crowd.
I was down the road for an appointment and searched for a local breakfast place and came across HangOverEasy. I had been to the near University of Cincinnati and was happy with my experience, so I wanted to try it again. First off, I appreciated that I was able to park for free during the day on the same block. That was a convenience that I didn't expect in this area. It was almost closing time on a weekday, as I came in about 1pm for lunch (but was craving breakfast food!). There were several tables occupied, but I was able to get seated right away. I was greeted with a smile and an inviting tone as I walked in and seated promptly. I was between several items- the omelette and french toast both sounded amazing, but I wasn't too hungry, so I opted for the angry egg, which is two eggs, toast, and "hoe" fries (see: HangOverEasy), which are breakfast potatoes. I thought about ordering iced coffee as I do love some iced coffee, but opted for the Old Fashioned Cold Brew, which is an old-fashioned with a slight bit of cold brew in there. The drink was out in a jiffy and the food wasn't too long of a wait either. The old-fashioned tasted good and it was reasonably priced. I could've just gone for iced coffee and probably will sometime, but how often do I drink whiskey with my breakfast? Probably never? So why not? The food was great. It was a reasonable portion on a regular-sized plate, which is just what I was looking for. For the price, it felt more than worth it. I also ordered "breakfast protein" on the side, which was an additional upcharge, but I REALLY APPRECIATE that the vegetarian protein was equal in price to the meat! Being vegetarian, I'm always looking for these little things. And the vegetarian protein tasted great! Considering the friendly service, the great vibe and feel of the place, and the good food and drink, I'd 100% return here. It's one of those place I'd recommend to a friend and even bring them here.
Overall I would not recommend this place. First parking is a challenge. I drove around the block a couple of times and eventually found a spot on the street. I visited about 8:30 am on a Wednesday. Seating was not a problem. Service was suspect at best. I was asking the size of the pancakes so I would not order too much food. The pancakes in Texas are very large. She said the size of a plate, asked okay what size is the plate. I went on to explain this is our first time and we live in Texas, everything in Texas are large portions. I shouldn't have had to explain myself. Nonetheless the conversation continued and was not very helpful at all. She eventually apologized for coming across with an attitude. For her to notice herself is good but also bad because it was not necessary. The food arrive very fast which was great. There were egg whites ordered which looked like an 1/2 an egg when they brought them to the table maybe two bites. The pancakes were small and not the size of the plate. I asked for an extra syrup and it came with an extra charge. I was told because it is local syrup. Okay what difference does that make. Nonetheless there should have been a free option on the syrup. The turkey sausage tasted like it had already been cooked and was on stand by. On top of that the pancakes were not very good, overcooked. The appetizer ordered was apple bacon and it was very good. I had to ask for water and on my way out the door I finally was asked for a coffee refill. Overall not impressed with the service or the food. I would not recommend.
We stopped in for brunch on a Sunday morning. We had a large party in. You have to make reservations once you arrive and we staggered in. They said the wait would be longer than it actually was, so that's a plus. They have an interesting menu. And we definitely like variety. There was something for everyone. I ordered the Melon mimosa and chicken and waffles. They didn't pair well, but both were good. Their hot coffee machine was broken... I really wanted a latte! Our waitress was very friendly, and our food came out relatively quickly. I would definitely stop by here again when visiting Ohio. There is street parking and a lot across the street.
Delicious across the board. The portions are great, the mix of flavors is impressive and the flavor is really good. If you want something a little different for breakfast this is the place. Really enjoyed the breakfast tacos which were stuffed with eggs, chorizo and hoe potatoes. The dash of crema was a pleasant surprise. The Dubai Chocolate Pancakes were a nice breakfast dessert. It's like eating a cupcake for breakfast. Delicious. Service was friendly and fast.
Another great experience here. Didn't have reservations, so the wait was extensive. Next time we will join the waitlist ahead of time, seems to be what most were doing. I had the country fried steak this go round and WOW! Great sausage gravy, hoe potatoes and nicely breaded steak was a home run. The star was the cinnamon roll pancakes! Delicious thick cut cinnamon roll French toast with fresh blueberries, what a great combination! Still a solid spot for breakfast/brunch!
We walked in and was told there was a long wait but got seating in less than 15 minutes. Service by the hosts and servers was amazing, they're all very friendly. The food is very filling and is ever I'd want in a Sunday breakfast food. Cute diner ambiance inside too.
I have to start by saying this place is positioned in a perfect spot next to the college. I chose this place off the strength of the amazing pictures that have been taken of this place. I did enjoy the ambiance and the staff especially when I found out what the acronym was. The staff was very friendly and helpful when I asked questions. I couldn't give this place 5 stars because my friends foos came out super late and his eggs weren't prepared as he asked previously. My chicken and waffles is normally how I judge breakfast spots and I did like the take they took on it adding the mild hot sauce on the tenders. The tenders could have been cooked tad bit less and they would have been perfect. I also had a side of french toast hit the spot. Outside of the one mishap this place was phenomenal in terms on taste and customer service. If you're in town do your taste buds a favor and give this place a go.
We reserved a table and got there right on time. The adult drinks was good I got a mango tango the Og burger was good and juicy the fries was alright. The pancake was soooo good I always have a good meal at the HOE!! The service was wonderful.
Went to this cool spot for brunch and we loved every part of it. The food was delicious and not expensive at all. Our server was so nice and food was out fast!
Great spot. So glad we found it while in town for a wedding. Service is amazing. Food is delicious. Boozy drinks are fun. Lots of fun history on the walls so lots to observe. They also have a waitlist, which is always preferable to showing up to a major line and not knowing how long you will wait. This place is a winner! read more
If this review was based solely on the food, it would be an easy 5/5. My CBH breakfast was fantastic. My sister got the HOE Benny and said it was also 5/5. We were greeted and seated pretty quickly for a busy Saturday morning. Unique and funny menu! The specialty coffee I probably wouldn't order again. I'd probably go with a soda and hit up Staufs or some other coffee joint for the price. The flavor just wasn't doing it for me. The waiter was super attentive in the beginning, however, our check took a lot longer than expected. To be fair though, the waiter had just accepted a larger party shortly before we finished eating. Conclusion: Overall, I would recommend HOE Ohio and would definitely plan to eat there again when in town. read more
I will admit it took too long for me to try this place out I wish I would have sooner. Nice location in Old Town East. It is smaller than probably other locations but it works for that corner. The wait staff was very friendly and the hostess was very accommodating and of course I enjoyed having a drink as well with my brunch breakfast. All the food prices were very reasonable drink prices also reasonable. Definitely make sure you get there early because the place feels up quickly. 10 out of 10 will go back again because it's a great jewel for the area. Really enjoyed our breakfast with a fresh twist to breakfast faves. Appreciated our server's takes on food, and in spite of the place being somewhat full, service was quick and efficient. Loved the feel of the place: half old time diner (yay Formica tables & chairs from my childhood) and some distinct modern touches. Also wish I'd taken a pic of the Batman comics on the wall. Debating going again before we leave Columbus. read more

The wait may look long for brunch on a weekend but don't let that scare you from putting your name on the waitlist because it moves very quickly. Nod to the servers are speedy and accommodating. The menu is uncomplicated and easy to understand. The food is good, not something I'd write home about but it'll hit the spot when you're hungry. The Bloody Mary, however, is the best I've had in a long time. Best Bloody Mary in the city? Perhaps! The seating is different from the campus location and you'll be sat likely very close to another table. Diner-esque but that's something I didn't mind much though if you're looking to have a quiet, private conversation, this is not the place for you. I love it and I'll be back! read more
Best breakfast in Columbus - hands down. First of all, this place has such fun vibes. Hang Over Easy = HOE for short, so everything is HOE this and HOE that. Made me giggle. Then there's a cool rock n roll sensibility about the place, the staff and the patrons. Good music playing, comic books on the walls. And the food. Oh, the food! I don't know how I decided what to order here. Everything sounded amazing. Everything brought to the tables around us looked and smelled incredible. I finally went with the chicken and waffles which was superb. Perfectly spiced, crispy fried and tender inside. Hubby had the Dirty which is like an everything burrito and oy, the flavors. So good! Such a quaint little diner atmosphere greets you with old DC comics panels and other entertainment images on the wall. Service is quick and friendly and the menu is full of delish. I tried the chicken and waffles. The waffles were perfection with 3 pieces of fried chicken coated in a spicy, crunchy batter. Topping it with the spiced maple syrup created a zing not normally experienced with this dish. If you're looking for bland food, this isn't for you. Even the hoe fries with just green peppers and onions were full of flavor. Come with N appetite and leave beyond satisfied. read more

I love hangover easy. It's my go to breakfast place in Columbus. I've never been to the other location, but the Parsons location is always busy! I love the big parking lot across the street. It makes it more enjoyable not having to look for parking. The only downside is the size of the restaurant on the inside. It's quite quaint and a little crowded but if you can get a high-top or a table by the wall, you'll be fine! They do have a patio that they open when the weather is nice! Food is always a 10/10 for me. It's always good laughs, foods, and service. I recommend everyone to try them at least once! read more

The ambiance at the HangOverEasy reminds me of a college dorm room gone terribly wrong, a greasy spoon or where you can chug "the hair of the dog that bit you" at 7 am. Yes, they serve beer and liquor for breakfast, I can attest to a charafe of mimosaas. They wallpapered the restaurant with images of rock bands and musicians: Hendrix, Deep Purple, The Who, Queen but my favorite was the John Belushi poster. What do you order in a place like this? I ordered the "Angry Egg" of course. It consists of 2 eggs prepared your way with HOE fries and toast ($7.50). It is hard to screwup this breakfast and I'm happy to report that they didn't. The food and drinks were both good. This restaurant is virtually on the Ohio State University campus. If you can appreciate edgy or are just in the mood for a truckload of nostalgia, this is probably your breakfast spot. You just might also meet Bryan Day (head football coach) on any given day. read more

Nice place in Old Town East. Busy and noisy. We knew the location well from the previous concept, but our first time to visit. Very busy on a Saturday at 1. That was nice to see. Creatively named menu items were fun. We had eggs, potatoes, and toast. Well cooked just how we asked. Great servers and clean bathrooms. Thanks for both. read more

Great restaurant and environment. I went at the opening of Sunday Funday and the variety on the menu as well as the variety and recipes with the drinks was perfect. I can definitely understand why this is a hangover easy meal. Our server was great and very attentive to our needs. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for easy Sunday brunch. read more

First time coming back home since the onset of the pandemic. First time exploring this part of the city since I left in '92, and whoa have things changed! Going out to breakfast is one of my favorite things to do, so I was glad that my high school homie suggested that we meet here. It's so cute, the food is terrific, and our server was a genuine sweetheart (wishing you all the best with the arrival of your baby soon!). We ordered the Chicken and Chorizo Skillet but subbed pork belly for the sausage, Frog Eyes (biscuits and gravy), and Pork Belly Benedict. They were so generous and easy-going about accommodating food preferences, which was good because we switched things up a bit. We also got a side order of pancake with strawberry and cream cheese on the side, cinnamon roll French toast, and bacon....because, why not! HangOverEasy has a spot on my list of hometown faves to visit on future trips! read more

I live for these moments! Amazing staff, th atmosphere is great comic and fun, great music and the food was on point!! I ordered chicken and waffles super crispy sweet and savory. I also ordered the breakfast tacos sooooo good. Great combination of egg chorizo and potatoes with salsa Verde and cream. Kudos to this local breakfast joint where they serve breakfast all day. Highlights: Pork belly was really good and the amount was a lot compared to other places. The biscuit was very good. The mimosa options are out great. Waitress/service also great. The chicken chorizo skillet was ok, it seemed to lack standout flavor but adding hot sauce helped. I was completely turned off so would definitely give the skillet and restaurant another chance because of the great service and other items. read more

What a cute place- and love the word play :). Ordered: chicken and waffles and sausage skillet. Didn't order drinks, but would love to try it next time! Parking: parking lot across the street and sparse street parking. Ambience: cute diner/mom-pop feel. Intimate setting Service: great service upon entry. Wouldn't change anything there. HangOverEasy definitely is the spot to go cure your hangover! The food was delicious and the coffee was great too! The place is kinda small like so we had to wait 20-30 mins for a table for the 7 of us but the wait was worth it. Our server was very cute and friendly! I ordered the Dirty and it was phenomenal. (Basically a breakfast burrito). The cheese sauce and potatoes were delicious. I wolfed it down in seconds, I just wish it was bigger lol. Decided to try a new place for breakfast!! So I opted for Hangover easy. Today I ordered a cup of coffee and the Hoe Benny. Pros: seating is limited but on a day like today, I was able to get in relatively quickly. The server was nice and the food was really good! The hoe beeny, which comes with english muffins, eggs Benedict, chorizo, a special cheese sauce, avocado, a side of potatoes and a few other things was really really delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly!! The food was seasoned really really well. I didnt need salt. Overall, a really great breakfast for a decent price!!! Also let me say I LOVE menus where you can scan a bar code. I also LOVE that they give you your ticket and you can a barcode pay and leave on your own time. No more waiting for a busy server to cash you out!!!! More businesses should follow suit!!! Cons: none! I'll be back! read more

First visit and happy I found this place. Had the CBH and found it pretty good. The homemade corned beef was delicious. I ordered poached eggs with my skillet, one was cooked perfect, the other was overdone, the yolk was thoroughly cooked and solid. My companion ordered the cinnamon roll French toast and said it was delicious. I found the coffee to be very good but it was strong with a slight bitterness. I happen to like that but could see how some people may not. Service was attentive and very good. Ambiance was typical diner but was very crowded. You may not like it if you don't care for other parties sitting very close to you. read more
