I have always enjoyed their burgers enough that I was willing to overlook the consistently bad service and delivery. Unfortunately, the experience today has ended that tolerance. Ordering carryout, I had been waiting for 45 minutes when I finally asked a staff member if my order was close to being ready. He said they were "just starting it". In total, I had to wait an hour for a carry out order. While I was waiting, another gentleman getting carry out said his order was all messed up when he checked his bag. He was there as long as I was, and in fact , was there before me. A mother and daughter were waiting a long time for their dine in order and when it finally was delivered, they informed the server it must have been sitting quite awhile as it was all cold. Better than 5 Guys (and less expensive), the onions were grilled into the burger for that smash burger taste I was craving today. The spot used to be a Grinder's, and then a crossover health food-sub shop. It still looks a lot like a Grinder's inside. Lots of windows, bright and pleasant inside. Seats and room at the bar. The place looked nice from outside and the burger was eventually pretty good I have to admit, but the place was filthy and mismanaged. When we first came in, there were no clean tables--one table had a bunch of dirty trays and stuff on it still. The waitress/hostess lady wiped down a table for us but the bench still had food on it. I found a rag on top of the trashcan and wiped it down myself. Everything felt kind of greasy, especially the floor. I used to work in a steakhouse and I always hated how greasy the floors would get in the kitchen, but these floors were greasy throughout the entire restaurant. While sitting around I noticed food and trash laying on the floor behind the bar with a broom and dustpan sitting there as if someone started sweeping and then just gave up half way through. Meanwhile there were about four worker guys sitting around, at least two of them on their phones, one watching the tv. No one cleaning. It was after we started eating that I saw the most the most horrifying thing. One of the worker guys was carrying a rolled up floor mat from behind the counter to the back. Not a big deal, but I noticed he was wearing his blue rubber gloves. After dropping the mat down in the back he came back out with a bucket of fries and brought them to the fryer, still with the same gloves on. He then reached into the bucket, pulled out some fries and put them in the fryer. All with the same blue gloves he carried the rolled up mat with. He cooked the entire bucket. He was also scooping fries into serving trays with his gloves hands. I nearly threw up. The burger was okay until this point. After seeing that guy carry the floor mat, it was inedible. The place was filthy, disgusting, and the workers were so lazy it was infuriating. Why weren't they cleaning? Why wasn't the manager telling them to clean? Why were they all on their phones while they were supposed to be working? Why did that one guy think it was okay to pick up a dirty mat off the ground and then go straight to cooking fries without cleaning his hands and changing gloves? This is only the second place I have had TRUE smash burgers! Sexton's actually carmelizes their onions and cooks the beef over them to cook the flavor in just like in Oklahoma during the Depression! The burgers at Sexton's are all double patties and come off the grill blazing hot! You can add lettuce, tomato, and pickles for no charge. True smash burgers have patties that are almost completely flat and have crispy edges; incredible really! The fries were thin, hot, and inexpensive for a healthy serving in a good-sizr cardboard boat. Sexton's has a small selection of beers on tap and additional drinks in bottles and cans (most non-alcoholic). The manager was friendly and accommodating. I ordered a cheese burger and my dad got a double hamburger. I'm not entirely sure why but the waitress gave me a double as well even though I did not order one. On the menu, it stated that the burgers were $12 and adding another patty to the burger added an additional $4 which I did not order. This made an okay burger to a pretty expensive burger. The burger was pretty salty but after adding ketchup and their signature Burger Bar Sauce. I was a little disappointed by it when I first tried the sauce but after having a few bites of it, ended up loving the sauce. I highly recommend getting the sauce. I did also try the Serrano sauce which was not what I wanted. The fries were good but very greasy. The Burger Bar sauce that we ordered on the side was good for dipping both the burgers and fries. On the disappointing side, the fries were plentiful but half the length of what you expect a fry to be. They actually taste really good but were hard to dip and eat because of their stubby frame. Also, we had to wait longer for our dine-in order than expected for a place with such a focused menu. We were there around 6:30 on a Saturday, and it wasn't terribly crowded in there. I really wanted to like this place, but our experience tonight was bad enough that we won't be coming back. We arrived around 6:45, got drinks about five minutes later, and placed our order for two simple burgers right away. The wait was unusually long, and when our food finally came out, both meals were cold. My bun was soggy and greasy, and my partner's burger had cheese on it even though he ordered it without. They offered to remake his burger, but the second attempt came out with zero toppings at all--just a plain patty on a bun. At that point it was clear the kitchen had no attention to detail. The staff gave us a $20 gift card and comped the fries, but that didn't fix the fact that the food was wrong twice and the quality was poor. We still ended up paying out of pocket for a meal we didn't enjoy. Really blown away by the bad reviews so far. Definitely had a near perfect experience. I love a good burger. Thinner style burgers and smash burgers are my absolute favorite, and more simply dressed. Holy moly, this is my new favorite spot for burgers and what a relief to hear it is so close to our house vs going all the way downtown. We got the classic and Oklahoma burger, along with Serrano ranch (a MUST omg I will be craving this), fries, and their soft serve. The most perfect smash burger. This is how it's done. We were craving a burger so we decided to try out Sextons. Came on a Saturday night around 6:00. Not too busy but quite a few people. Walked in there's a nice size bar with plenty of seating inside and an outside patio when it gets warmer. We seated ourselves and was waited on right away. I got a margarita. Was a small cup for $10. I got the classic burger and Hubby got the Oklahoma burger and each got fries. The burger was great nice flavor. All toppings tasted fresh also. I really loved the crispy edges around the burger!! Stopped in for dinner to see what all the hype is about. Super fun environment with great background music, video game, area for kids to watch TV, and lots of seating (including a great counter bar and outdoor patio). We had great service from at the counter. I got the Oklahoma Onion and added lettuce and tomato. I am not a huge fan of smash burgers, but really enjoyed the taste. The flavor of the burger was very good, not to mention the very reasonable price ($12.00). Also ordered fries and was disappointed we couldn't enjoy them with our burgers.
