Cheeseburger with bacon and fries
Shawn P.

Finally tried the new location on High Street. I will start with the service. I love being greeted immediately when I come into an establishment and they deliver. I was able to pick my seating because it wasn't too crowded. And my waiter whom I forgot his name earned his tip. As far as my meal I went with a cheeseburger with bacon and fries. The fries were cold but the waiter corrected that quickly. As far as my burger it was juicy and well prepared, not overcooked nor undercooked. The bacon was excellent as well. I will definitely try them again and picking something different off the menu there are a lot of different options something for everyone

What's left of my SHRIMP PO'BOY is coming home with me... it's quite a generous portion.

Pat and Gracie's is very near to capital Square, and is an excellent location for a lunch or dinner with friends or colleagues. Great for finding some food before attending a show at one of the nearby theaters. The menu is what I would best describe as comfort, food. Burgers, pot roast, chicken, pastas, and other selections, which are filling and delicious. A menu is available for review online. Parking is available on street and in a variety of garages and flat lots located throughout the area.

FRIED CHICKEN COBB SALAD

A nice place to stop by before an evening show at one of the nearby theaters. Good location, selection and seating options. But to me, everything was overpriced by a dollar or two. Especially the drinks and particularly the beers. They do make a mean fried chicken Cobb salad. The Chimi burger was nice but the fries were nothing special.

First, I want to stress that this place was seriously understaffed on the Sunday afternoon that we went for lunch. The one server who was there was so attentive and friendly (as best he could be; thank you Jay), as was the other person who was doing the duties of bartender, host, and sometimes server. The place was not exactly empty because there was a 2 o'clock matinee at the Ohio Theatre, so people were grabbing lunch before the show (this is also one of the restaurants that CAPA recommends show goers check out). Our server told us apologetically that all of the other servers called out; because of that, wait times for food and service were pretty long, which is nerve-racking when you are waiting to get to a show. Again, I want to stress this is not our servers's fault, but it did make me wonder about overall management. The inside of the restaurant is pleasant enough the food was pretty basic (burgers, sandwiches, mozzarella sticks, a lot of fried bar / diner food), but it was made well, especially considering the staff issues. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was a little spicy (in good way) due to the Sriracha based sauce, and it also had a tasty avocado and onion topping. Fries seemed a little undercooked, and mozzarella sticks were huge portions, but a little lukewarm (I think they had to sit and wait for our server to get a chance to bring them to our table. ) This was all fine because there's not a lot of options downtown, though I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. I also think with corrected staffing issues it would be better.

Good food and nice atmosphere! Waiter was attentive to filling up the waters and we were seated right after coming in. They have several tvs showing sports channels, as well as a bar next to the seating area. Parking is mostly parallel street parking.

The FLAME BROILED SALMON DINNER

The only reason I didn't give this a lower rating is because the staff handled the issues well but overall I'm so let down by P&G because I had never had a bad meal (at the Graceland location at least) before & almost everything was a let down in this visit. The bad: We ordered a side of fries to nibble on with our drinks & the whitest, most unseasoned (not even salted) potato sticks came out to the table. Meanwhile I'm trying to convince my friend (who had never been to P&G before) that I've never had them that bad before & to not worry because I'm sure the rest would come out better. We did not complain to the server about this. I got the Flame Broiled Salmon Dinner & my friend got the Spicy Burger w/ broccoli instead of the fries. Every single item in my dish had something wrong with it. The salmon was barely cooked...like just enough to make the grill lines & change the color of the very outside layer. Now, let me make it clear that I actually enjoy a medium/medium well temp salmon if it has a hard sear on the outside. That was not this. The mashed potatoes weren't anything special, not very creamy but the issue was that they came out cold. Not even remotely close to warm even. As if they had been sitting out at room temperature for hours. The broccoli was so terrible that neither my friend nor I ate ours. Somehow it was raw inside but rubbery on the outside. Like it had been flash-boiled or something. When I say boiled I mean that. I often steam mine at home because I like it al dente & this is not how it comes out. There was no seasoning, butter, nothing on it. We couldn't even cut it with our butter knives. The service itself was a bit lackluster, but not the worse. We waited a bit for our server to come over but he acknowledged this & apologized and we were totally fine with it. It was just hard to get a hold of him throughout the dinner so that's why I had to go complain to the bartender about my entree instead of our server. For $26 I had to say something. The payment method is weird. We hate when places bring the machine to you to pay while they stand there instead of just bringing you a check first. You feel rushed, don't get to see if it's correct, etc. The Good: The atmosphere is cute. I like the details & decorations. The bar area has a dark, sexy feel without needing to get your flashlight out lol. The bathrooms were spacious & clean. The seasonal Maple Sidecar cocktail was yummy & I liked the garnish accents. Everything, including the drinks came out in a timely fashion. My friend's burger was juicy & well cooked (if not a bit under). The bartender handled the situation well when I complained about my dish. I asked if they could just microwave the whole thing because we were going to the theater & didn't have time to order something different. He said he would do that but that I shouldn't be having to eat microwaved salmon so that they would also be comping the dish. I agree with him but I couldn't go to the theater on an empty stomach so I nibbled on what tasted ok when it came out. Handling this the way he did is the only reason that the review wasn't a fail. Overall, I don't think I'll ever return to this location. There's clearly an issue with the kitchen staff &/or training of it. However, I will continue to visit the Clintonville location & maybe only stick to burgers from now on. Needless to say, with this experience being her first, my friend will most likely never try them out again.

Perfect day to sit outside and try something new.

First time here at Pat and Gracie's. Gee, I wonder who the owners are. (Smile) We started with mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. Not only were they delicious but they were also the size of baseball bats. This is what mozzarella sticks should be! Pay attention people! I ordered the patty melt. Whew! That very first bite was almost life changing. It was that good! Maybe even the best I've had and I love trying them anywhere I go. It was that good...or did I say that already? Grace was a wonderful server. Able to answer all our questions even though I didn't get what the PG salad was. (Hint name of the place) Yeesh Me! I would highly recommend Pat and Gracie's. This place is on my "I'll be back" list. Nod to the chef for your creations and to whatever inspires you. Keep up the great work! Could not have gotten any better.

First of all, on a beautiful early spring evening, what a treat to sit outside! I enjoyed a lovely cocktail and the biggest mozzarella sticks I've ever seen! And they were delicious. If I was smart I would have stopped with that and a small salad but instead I ordered the portabello mushroom sandwich. The roasted red peppers added a nice balance to the mushroom and cheese. I had a side salad with garlic parm dressing. The salad was generous and the dressing was not too garlicky, maybe could have had some cracked pepper with it. Service was polite, prompt, and helpful. Grace, thank you! My suggestion for the menu would be to add a black bean burger. Would be nice to have more veg options.

My sister in law and I split a burger and it was perfect! Fortunately we arrived with no wait, which often isn't the case. The decor was nothing short of fabulous and the host was wonderful. He shared the history and the restaurant and it's namesake with us and provided some menu recommendations. The pretzel nibs werent terrible nor great but I will definitely be returning!

Love the atmosphere at this downtown location! Aleah was our server this evening and was totally awesome! We both tried something new tonight and had enjoyed every bite. My partner went with P&G Fried Bologna Sandwich with fries and ranch. I had the build your own burger, two-0patties, American cheese, and grilled onions with fries. We also split a half order of Mozzarella Sticks. Always enjoy the service and food and glad to see this new downtown location is going well.

Pimento melt and salad

I seriously love this place. They always have a great beer selection that updates regularly as well as great cocktails. I adore their pimento cheese melt which I ordered on this visit. Cooked perfectly, delicious flavors and good food all around. A must visit especially when you're downtown for a show or an event at Columbus Commons.

Top notch as always! I really hope this location does well, I'm always super impressed with the food here. Service is stellar as well, everyone is incredibly friendly. We couldn't resist getting the same appetizers as last time we were here (Tots and Onion Dip) and tried the Buckeye Bites- sooooo freaking good. The Chicken Caesar Salad was HUGE and great as well. I'm pretty sure you can't order anything bad here. Still have yet to come here for happy hour or brunch but they're on my to-do list!

Their cheese sticks are amazing. The rest of our food was delicious. The place is small and the seats are close but it's a fine place to go.

Their visual chart is a…read moregodsend for cocktail explorers, and all of the drinks came out delicious and exactly as described. It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.

Really in love with its vibes, both indoor dining room with different segments of seatings and outdoor patio tables are amazing. The interior design here is truly unique and artistic. Great for big groups, date night, or even just chilling with friends. Not sure if it's the standard here, but there was never anyone filling our water during the entire dining time after they left 2 bottles of water on the table. Our server is patient and friendly but not on point. They messed up our orders, forgot one order and brought one wrong (we ordered smashed burger but received chicken sandwich). Very surprising that the staff didn't do anything or offer to send in the correct order. The chef of table service for Tomahawk is fun and enjoyable to carry conversations but unfortunately our Tomahawk was overcooked. We loved the presentation for sure though. Their smoked ribs is not "smoked" but boiled and soaked in sauce. The "smoked" part refers to its presentation, but their machine was down, and we were not told, so we basically got the ribs, neither smoked in cooking method nor smoked when it was brought to our table. The donut tree is another one great for eyes and cameras. It comes with little fireworks at the table service. Overall we enjoyed the breeze and atmosphere here. Will come back for relaxation if in town.

That being said, upon opening the door we were told we couldn't come in without masks. Mine was in my pocket, no problem. I haven't left my home (in Tennessee) often enough since the beginning of the virus for it to become habit to automatically put on a mask when I get out of my vehicle. But 9/10 times I remember before entering a public place. The male bartender just seemed rude in the way he told us to put one one. I had read the raving reviews, and being a Yelp Elite myself I know I can and do trust their reviews above others. So....I was really looking forward to trying something new and enjoy watching a bartender do their thing. The bartender pointed to two framed menus on top of a cooler containing seltzer's and canned drinks, and some glass bottles of pre-made cocktails, I think. I would've appreciated the bartender ask me what I liked, and help me decide, but it was easier for him to point to the sign. Customer service absolutely sucked hippo balls. I asked if I could just order a Knob Creek and Coke in a short glass, and a Blanton's for my hubs. Sure!! What I got was a shot of each in a to-go plastic condiment container with a lid, and two big paper go cups (like Burger King) of ice, and a can of Coke, which I told him never mind I had a soda in the truck. We also got two bags of Cheeto's, to make the sale legal. So....we poured our bourbons over the ice in the paper cups. I drank a few sips of mine, yum, even in paper. My husband was just about to take a sip and noticed something stuck in his ice that looked just like a maggot. He walked back across the street and told/showed the bartender, who vehemently denied it came from the ice because it was a brand new bag. Then I noticed 3 of the maggot looking things in my ice, so I went back in and showed my husband and then the bartender. He told my husband it was probably from the citrus he was cutting on a board near the ice bin. They were frozen INSIDE the ice cubes. I'm upset with myself that I didn't take a picture of it, it was gross. I'm upset that a bartender would try to make it seem like it was nothing. After seeing it all in my ice my husband just asked for our money back, and the bartender said, "But I've already poured another." Ummm, sorry, but no thank you. He did give the refund, but I most assuredly won't give them a second chance when I visit Columbus.
