Cool little spot located right in the heart of downtown Columbus. This place is huge, with upstairs/downstairs seating and a massive outdoor seating space. Overall the food was great, service was good and prices were reasonable.

Just had dessert at Chouette tonight and it was genuinely some of the best dessert I've had in a long time. Everything was incredible! I don't even know how to explain how good it was. We ordered a few to split, which made it very reasonably priced for a group. My favorite was the Apple Tarte Tatin with warm caramel and vanilla bean ice cream but honestly, every dessert was amazing. Such a perfect addition to our girls' night after dinner. The ambiance was beautiful, everything is thoughtfully set up, and the mood lighting is chef's kiss.

This is a beautiful restautant in downtown Columbus. They have a beautiful staircase in the center, and it is decorated for the holidays. They have a Saturday happy hour if you sit at the bar. This was nice as we were downtown for a show at the Ohio Theatre. We ordered fries and the happy hour burger. It was all very tasty. Their cocktails were delicious too! Service was decent. The bartenders were nice but let us be. They weren't in any hurry to rush us out of there. Reservations are recommended as it got busy during the dinner hour. The volume of the restaurant was quiet even with all the people dining.

There aren't many French restaurants in the area, especially downtown, and Chouette is a must try of you're looking for an authentic Parisian experience The atmosphere is fantastic, I highly recommend dining outside, it's very reminiscent of the cafes along the streets of Paris. The service is wonderful and the food is spot on. If you want to experience what real French Steak Frites tastes like, this is where you can get it; it's phenomenal! All of the different customizations you can get with your steak frites makes the experience incredibly fun as well. On top of that, everything else is also delicious, from the mussels to the ratatouille!

Ambiance was a 10/10. Lighting, character of place was bougie! Service was great, our server was fun, provided great insight to the experience, and had perfect timing in terms of not around too much, but always available when needed, great knowledge of menu, and any adaltions we needed due to a few dietary restrictions. Food was top notch modern french yet with a classy and classic taste! Had appetizers and main entrees, no alcohol drinks but extensive french wine list, did have their in hpuse sparkling water, tres magnificent! No dessert either because pleasantly satisfied with the food we had. Main entrees were, salmon, rainbow trout and skirt steak. Appetizers were, raw oysters, deviled eggs and foie gras!

What a charming restaurant in the heart of downtown Columbus. After we were seated, we were served some fresh warm French bread with creamy butter while we looked over the wine and food menu. The service was wonderful and the food was great. I ordered the potato and horseradish crusted salmon. I would've preferred a little bit more horseradish flavor but the salmon was cooked perfectly and delicious by itself. My friend ordered the steak frites which he said was perfect. You must save room for dessert when you come here because there's so many interesting choices. We shared the pistachio dessert which was like 3 little cream puffs with pistachio ice cream in the middle and chocolate sauce poured over the top. There was plenty to share and it was delicious. The prices were very reasonable and the ambience was intimate and enjoyable. Ask for their cute matchbook on your way out.

I came here with two friends and we had an absolutely lovely time. The place is decorated so lovely, very French, and is very clean. The bar is a great place to sit for a drink downtown. The server was very knowledgeable on the menu and how the food was prepared. He walked us through the wine selection and the entrees it would pair with. The food was amazing, we had an array of hour deurves and for dinner I had the mussels and profiteroles for dessert which were TOO DIE FOR! This was my first time here and I will be back with my friends again. We are already planning it to try more magnificent food!

Went for an early dinner. It was very good overall. Tall ceiling and airy - can be loud at times, but pleasant overall. The overall vibe is upscale casual. We had a few starters - olives, cheeses, and escargot. All were fine. I had steak frites with hanger steak. Steak was nicely cooked. I ordered bordelaise sauce with it and it was fine - subtle flavor but too salty for me. The server low key recommended the au poivre sauce and I would try that next time. Fries were somewhat soggy. My son had coq au vin and loved it. Again - subtle light flavors, good quality ingredients. The pasta that came with it seemed fresh and was nicely cooked. I had strawberries with ice cream, a little crumble, whipped cream, and strawberry sauce. Delicious and light. M son had crème brûlée - it comes in a wide pan and is kinda thin ("more brûlée than crème"1 but was tasty. One thing to keep in mind is that some appetizers can be ordered any time( (from the "Pour la Table" section of the menu) but others (from the "Hors d'Ouvres" section) must be ordered with the main dishes. So some planning was needed but the timing was excellent and dishes showed up when they should without making us feel rushed. Overall very nice and definitely worth a second visit.

Pasta was incredible, simple and light but tasty. The interior is very cool and the bar seems to be a good place for the future. The 12 oz strip with peppercorn sauce was great, but not outstanding. Fries were the best part of the steak dish IMO. Cool spot glad I tried it out. I would definitely try a more French speciality dish next time.

Mixed experience here. Stopped in recently on a Saturday night. Restaurant has an extremely regal vibe to it as soon as you walk in. Intimately sized but not generally crammed. Our table was however quite crammed and right next to the staircase. It felt very much in the middle of the floor. Our sever Jessica L was kind but definitely felt like she was rushing us; before we had even finished our dinner she was asking about dessert and dropped the check off. This was an 8:30 reservation too, so by the time we left the restaurant was quieting down. Seemed very unnecessary. Food however was exquisite. Had the lobster linguine with Gruyère Mac and cheese on the side. Delicious, perfectly cooked, and would happily order both again. Also had the Applewood Smoked Bacon Tarte Flambee which was also perfect as an app. Overall, would like to give this place a try again. The food is delicious and everyone that works. there is very nice, but I do think it would be nice to not feel rushed.

Could have been better! We've been waiting a while to try dinner here and to be fair I am going with 2 stars. My partner loves French dining, so we were excited to check it out and made reservation way in advance of Christmas. Chouette was our choice for a little post-holiday dinner for two and unwind before heading back to work. While the evening was relaxing, the experience fell short and below expectations overall, especially for the price. A friend that had a similar experience said it was because we went on Sunday and that is not their A-Team. I guess I would say OVERALL the food was good, but the timing and service didn't match the expectations. For example, the $39 hanger steak was served cold by the time it got to the table, and the Black Truffle & Foie Gras butter didn't even melt. I mentioned it to the server and asked her not to make a big deal about it but offering feedback. They took $19 off the bill which was nice, however, they forgot to include the leftover steak in our take-home bag with the chicken and mac and cheese, which was beyond disappointing. I ordered this for the Black Truffle & Foie Gras butter and thought maybe I can microwave it and enjoy the other half at home. My partner had the Coq au Vin, which was flavorful but seemed like it had been kept warm in the oven. The Mac & Cheese, Soup, and desserts were great. Additionally wanted to point out there was no presenting and tasting of the wine, nor inspecting the cord when brought to the table. It was pop and pour. We also had to replenish our own wine glasses during the meal and weren't offered another drink (we didn't need one but still). All of this felt off for the setting and the experience the restaurant is suppose to offer. Additionally, No one asked how our food was, if it was cooked to temperature, how the meal was going during the meal, etc. For food, we ordered: -Deviled Eggs $9 -French Onion Soup $18 -Gruyere Mac & Cheese $10 -Coq au Vin $38 -Hanger Steak and Frites $39 -Bottle of Catherine et Pierre Breton, Trinch! Cab Franc $74 -Chocolate Mousse $14 -Crepes Suzette $15 It was a nice Sunday evening to spend together, and the food had good flavors, but the service, attention to detail, and the main entrees left something to be desired. I doubt I will return with so many great options in Columbus.

Nice iteration of a French Bistro. Some hits some misses. We came for lunch. Environment 5*. Outdoor seating will be stupendous in the spring. Menu. 4*. Great potential. Quiche was superb. Onion soup decent but overpriced. Great bread/sweet butter. Ham sandwich meh. Fries were excellent. Desert menu is limited and hits all the right selections but we did not partake. Wine menu is extensive. My Rosé was superb. Service was 2*. The very young staff needs a lot more coaching. Our server did not know the menu at all. Their unis are nice looking Bistro chíc. Do not sit at the tables that are located under the stairs. We will return to see about dinner I'm sending good vibes, downtown Columbus needs this type of food option.

Their visual chart is a…read moregodsend for cocktail explorers, and all of the drinks came out delicious and exactly as described. It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.

My Husband and I randomly stumbled upon this place walking to Chapman's one night after we were JUST talking to a buddy about how Columbus didn't have any "great" Wine Bars. You can sit at a high top table, blue velvet couches for a more laid back option or the bar if you come alone or with a friend! The second best part about this place is you can order of a menu of curated pre picked wines and crafted cocktails or pop into the wine shop connected to it called Hausfrau Haven. You can buy a bottle there and open at The Laundry and split it with friends or your partner which I LOVE! You could even do your own little wine tasting too if you'd like! Tons of natural light means this cocktail bar has had some of my *favorite* cocktail bar photos I've ever taken. It's so pretty in here. NOTES: -During pop-ups, walk-ins are near-impossible on weekends and not likely on weekdays. Make a reservation if you want to make sure you'll have a spot. -No dedicated parking lot. 3-hour-limit free residential parking all around Law Bird, though. We generally have to walk 2 or 3 blocks from parking to Law Bird. Be aware this is German Village, and you're looking at cobblestone sidewalks for high heel and accessibility purposes. -Law Bird mostly has small party seating. If you have a larger group you want to seat during a pop-up, make SURE to get that reservation in early. They have the single 8-person table. -They have snackies and food. Portion sizes are small (despite what the prices may suggest), though, so this is not generally a place to eat a full meal. All of the food is super flavorful, though, so definitely a great snack to add on. PROS: -Keeping things fresh, they regularly host cute seasonal events, new drinks, and pop-up events. In recent memory, I know they've done a Cherry Blossom one, a Spooky Halloween one, and a Christmas one. -They go ALL OUT for their pop-ups. It isn't just a brand new, professionally-printed menu (no pieces of paper with 4 seasonal drinks here). It's also all of their interior decor, bathroom decorations, bartop decorations, and more. Ceiling decor too! They get all up in there. It's really fun to see the space transformed constantly. -Between the new menus and the constantly-new decorations of their space, I love regularly popping into Law Bird. -I LOVE the creativity of the menus, and I LOVE that they offer cocktail classes. (I haven't taken one yet, but I'm excited to!) The menu has unique drinks, served with unique garnishes. They have a few "sugar cocktails", but for the most part, Law Bird drinks tend to be complex and spirit-forward. -Their "themed" bathrooms (even with their own themed music playlists) make me happy. They have two unisex, single room restrooms. CONS: -If you come during a pop-up with a smaller group, they will enforce their reservation time limit of 1.5 hours. This isn't necessarily the end of the world, but the times when they enforce their limits is when they have more customers waiting - and tend to be when the place is at capacity. When they're at-capacity, the bar staff and service staff is a lot busier, with drink service taking longer and servers checking in a lot less. This means we usually only have had the chance to place 2 drink orders during that 1.5 hour time limit before they ask us to leave. This can be rough (to try most of the drinks on a limited time menu) unless you're sharing drinks with your tablemates. If you still want to continue your evening with your friends after that 1.5 hour limit, Antiques on High, Daily Growler, and Cobra are easily walkable from here. -During their pop-ups on weekends, time between placing a drink order and receiving the drink has usually been around 15 to 20 minutes. Not the end of the world as you get to socialize with friends, but again, with the time limit, that can be a bit rough.

That being said, upon opening the door we were told we couldn't come in without masks. Mine was in my pocket, no problem. I haven't left my home (in Tennessee) often enough since the beginning of the virus for it to become habit to automatically put on a mask when I get out of my vehicle. But 9/10 times I remember before entering a public place. The male bartender just seemed rude in the way he told us to put one one. I had read the raving reviews, and being a Yelp Elite myself I know I can and do trust their reviews above others. So....I was really looking forward to trying something new and enjoy watching a bartender do their thing. The bartender pointed to two framed menus on top of a cooler containing seltzer's and canned drinks, and some glass bottles of pre-made cocktails, I think. I would've appreciated the bartender ask me what I liked, and help me decide, but it was easier for him to point to the sign. Customer service absolutely sucked hippo balls. I asked if I could just order a Knob Creek and Coke in a short glass, and a Blanton's for my hubs. Sure!! What I got was a shot of each in a to-go plastic condiment container with a lid, and two big paper go cups (like Burger King) of ice, and a can of Coke, which I told him never mind I had a soda in the truck. We also got two bags of Cheeto's, to make the sale legal. So....we poured our bourbons over the ice in the paper cups. I drank a few sips of mine, yum, even in paper. My husband was just about to take a sip and noticed something stuck in his ice that looked just like a maggot. He walked back across the street and told/showed the bartender, who vehemently denied it came from the ice because it was a brand new bag. Then I noticed 3 of the maggot looking things in my ice, so I went back in and showed my husband and then the bartender. He told my husband it was probably from the citrus he was cutting on a board near the ice bin. They were frozen INSIDE the ice cubes. I'm upset with myself that I didn't take a picture of it, it was gross. I'm upset that a bartender would try to make it seem like it was nothing. After seeing it all in my ice my husband just asked for our money back, and the bartender said, "But I've already poured another." Ummm, sorry, but no thank you. He did give the refund, but I most assuredly won't give them a second chance when I visit Columbus.
