First time here - came here after another place close by didn't take my order for nearly 8-min. I was welcomed promptly. Sat at the bar. All bartenders were immediate, helpful and attentive. Great atmosphere. It's beautiful in the bar area - haven't been anywhere else. Great! Pricing on the menu. Really great Happy Hour - lots of good options. Tonight I ate off the Happy Hour menu; gem salad (their take on Caesar, came with anchovies). Lamb meatballs - really good Dirty Martini I'd like to come back here and get something off the main menu - it's Cameron Mitchell so you can't go wrong with any dish. I really enjoyed the lively hood and the overall vibe of the place. They do have TVs at the bar area- two that face east and west. Worth checking out! read more

Ambiance was great. Came for Easter brunch--I think the logistics could have been improved for the reservation check in system. There were a lot of bodies waiting in the small area near the host desk and it was a little chaotic. Our server kept trying to bring us the wrong bottle of wine (we ordered a bottle of French bubbly and she kept coming back with a Riesling) so I am not sure if it was a disconnect or what. Eventually we received the correct bottle after taking the toast tab and pointing to the appropriate one on the POS. Our group enjoyed some small plates; the ceviche and the beet salad and hummus were all lovely. However, I ordered the kind of already overpriced lobster scramble. The portion was CRAZY. What I received was a 1.5" piece of lobster meat on top of what seemed to be less than one eggs' worth of pre blended egg. There was still liquid egg that hadn't been cooked in the pan and it was accompanied by three wedges of a Roma tomato with a handful of dressed arugula. For $29. I would hope at that price point, I would at least get 2 eggs worth. WILD. All in all, enjoyable experience but Cameron Mitchell should probably revise some of the portion sizes/menu items. And please, please, nobody order the lobster scramble and experience the same fate that I did. read more

First time at the Del Mar that's now in Easton. Not sure I'll be returning anytime soon. We sat upstairs- while the area looked lovely, the atmosphere was way too loud. My party had a hard time hearing each other over the music (which was not very tasteful pop music). Our service was less than ideal, and pales in comparison to other fine dining establishments in Columbus. For whatever reason, our server took forever to take our orders (almost 30 minutes between when we asked for a couple minutes for drinks and when he came back for the drink order). The food was also average at best. We enjoyed the hummus and lamb the most, followed by the squash side dish. Our friends got the snapper, which was very very dry. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of it. Would not recommend that dish (which was actually recommended by the server over the other fish dish they were thinking of getting). My fiancé and I shared the ribeye, which was plenty of food for us, and decently cooked (medium rare). Our major gripe was that it wasn't warm. However, we didn't find anything special about it- he's made better steak at home. Our theory is that the food had been ready and waiting to be picked up for a while. It did take an unusual amount of time to receive our food. Finally, the broccolini was overly salted and kind of wet. I didn't enjoy it at all. Largely, a let down I would say. read more

My family & I stopped in for Sunday brunch. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the service was great. We tried a few different cocktails from the drink menu and they all tasted weird and were not very good. I don't know how a bar could make something as simple as a Bloody Mary or Espresso Martini unenjoyable (especially for me, an adult beverage enthusiast) yet somehow Del Mar accomplished it. Our appetizer was caramelized onion bread that came with a spread that included a lemon drizzle which was an incredibly confusing (and awful tasting) flavor combination. Nobody was really wowed by their entrees. I ordered the Lobster Scramble which was just some basic scrambled eggs with lobster meat on top and an arugula salad that covered the majority of the plate. I think I had the best truffle pasta of my life here. Melt in the mouth, pillowy, truffly, delicious. The sangria carafe was yummy And definitely worth the price. Valet is simple and easy, servers are helpful and kind, The ambience is perfect, not too loud. Take a look at the dessert menu but was not impressed with the offerings. That would be my only negative here. The roasted cauliflower head as an appetizer is actually a meal on its own, so be careful if you order that as an individual order. Went here for my birthday dinner. Even though we didn't have a reservation, they were able to seat us without a long wait for a Sunday dinner. We started off the with the lamb meatballs and hummus. Our entrees were lobster spaghetti and the Fire-roasted Seafood Platter. The seafood platter was huge even though we got a small! Lots of lobster in my spaghetti so it wasn't a disappointment. Lobster spaghetti is incredible. Large pieces of lobster that melt in your mouth and perfectly cooked noodles topped with that house made marinara that was sweet and tangy. A very good dish and a definite recommendation for an entree. Ribeye was delicious. A lime like flavor paired with other seasonings and a perfect cook. This was a fantastic steak and the Veg it was paired with was amazing. I'd highly recommend. The salmon crudo is a great appetizer. Fresh and well flavored it is a perfect light bite to start the meal. The baklava is the special item here. Truly the best I've had and paired with that cold olive oil vanilla ice cream it is a match made in heaven. We had dinner upstairs which was nice - it would be cool to have dinner in their outside seating area in the summer. We all thought it was a little more casual dining, however entering the restaurant soon realized it was not too casual for Mediterranean food. We were seated upstairs. The restaurant is GORGEOUS inside and out, they have a second floor which is where we got seated by the window with a great view. It had a restoration hardware vibe to it. Very very well thought out floor plan and decor. The service was excellent and I would say the ambiance and service 5 star, the food for the price 3 star and that landed me on 4 stars. The Salmon crudo was solid, the lamb meatballs w wouldn't get again, kind of tough or snappy if that makes sense while bland. The mushroom truffle ravioli was awesome, the lobster spaghetti was just ok and at $60 should be really good. Salmon had some small bones in it, the pita was great, we did a few different dips selections and they also were very good. Overall for the price there is a lot of options in the area with a little better food but we will return for the ambiance and enjoy some small plates and drinks but not a full dinner. read more

I never thought I would describe a restaurant at Easton as dreamy... but here we are. Del Mar really makes you feel transported to another place, in the best way. The decor is very summer beach resort. I enjoyed sipping a "Beach Party" spritz cocktail and soaking up the atmosphere. Great people watching and the patio seating is perfect for summer. Downstairs is the main bar area and more buzzy. Upstairs seating is quieter, more romantic, more views overlooking the Easton fountain. The menu standouts were the Mediterranean inspired dishes. We loved the onion bread with creamy feta dip. The salmon entree was perfectly cooked. The roast chicken was a bit tough and not as successful, but the curried carrots on the side were really flavorful. The mocha torte was creamy deliciousness. The drink menu has lots of options, we opted for a beer and a gin and tonic, both were solid. Next we ordered the red pepper hummus and the bacon wrapped figs which we would go back for again and again. We decided to split the Branzino and we substited the roasted squash for the potatoes. Been to the original Short North location and I loved it. So was super excited when I heard that they were moving to Easton location. From the service to the décor to the food was just fantastic. We ordered few things from here and everything was delicious. But my favorite is from the dessert section, the Olive Oil Cake, which is perfection. Its moist and just delicious. The jumbo shrimp at $5 per shrimp are impressive--plump, juicy, and flavorful. if you love bold flavors, don't miss the spicy feta--it's got that perfect heat with a creamy finish. If you're a spice lover, you'll be reaching for more pita, which, by the way, is made in-house, warm, thick, and doughy. Yum! Calamari? Thick, crunchy breading. And I mean thick! The garlic aioli was tasty, but the calamari itself was a bit of a letdown--kinda fishy, tough, and chewy. Now, the lobster spaghetti? Absolute winner. The lobster-shaped angel hair pasta was a fun little twist, and the sauce was chef's kiss--rich, flavorful, and the lobster itself was tender. The ribeye was a bit of a bummer, though. Definitely overcooked. The fries were perfect. Crispy with just the right amount of garlic aioli for dipping. Wine? I asked for a glass of Meiomi Pinot Noir and was advised that it was only available by the bottle. I didn't need a bottle so I asked for a glass of wine that was comparable to what I had requested. The twist? They gave me a 9 oz glass of Quilt Cabernet for $45 (the same cost of a bottle of Meiomi Pinot Noir). All in all, Del Mar is a solid choice if you're in the mood for a fun, elegant evening with great vibes and food that can make you overlook the dim lighting (and slightly questionable prices). Bathroom was pristine and private. They have an electric changing table, can't comment on the use. Anyways this restaurant is great. We went in the evening and the ambience was dark and moody. Perfect for romantic dates or an evening out with your partner. I'm not super well-versed in Mediterranean food, but I can easily say this place slaps. Starting with the appetizers, the Hummus was creamy with great consistency. The pita was fresh and extra fluffy! We made the mistake of getting both Pita and Caramelized Onion Bread (you certainly only need one of those) but they were fantastic. The calamari was also very well balanced on its degree of chewy and crunchiness, the herb sauce was a great pairing. Then the filet was made just at the right consistency I asked for (medium rare gang) with a perfect amount of crisp and char on the meat that rubbed off on the paired borccolini and garlic clove. I was shocked at how that smoky edge really enhanced the flavor. The lobster spaghetti was great and they certainly don't short you on the lobster component. When all was said and done the bill came out to ~$200 so this luxury meal comes with a luxury price. Overall I'd give it a 4.2/5. Cameron Mitchell does it again! read more

Tonight some buddies and I went out for my birthday. I've been wanting to try Del Mar so they let me pick the spot. Gorgeous restaurant. The vibe was spot on. One friend got fish while the rest of us had to try the lobster spaghetti. We ordered a Turkish flatbread to share while we waited. We loved it. I was personally loving my spaghetti, until I wasn't! I put a big piece of juicy lobster in my mouth only to have to spit it out. The whole table saw the look on my face when I bit down into a crunchy shell. GROSS! What kind of a high end restaurant sends out a lobster dish without checking to make sure there aren't shells in it?! It just ruined the experience for me. What made matters worse was Dewayne, our server, didn't seem to care. All I got was a "I'm sorry". I left so disappointed. This had the makings of a really good experience, but it ended on such a bad note. They don't even do anything for your birthday. As far as I'm concerned, there are other places who actually want my business more. I will have to think twice before coming back. read more

The food is disappointing. Everything else was decent or better. This was a first for me in that the food was all cooked properly, but the sauces were poor. Lamb rack is $69, cooked perfectly, and paired with a sauce that tastes like a can of Heinz beans. Parmesan Gem salad dressing had no balance. The hostess seated us on the patio at a high top table which was perfect for people watching and enjoying the warm weather. Our waitress was very friendly and professional.
