The salmon was huge for the sandwich. And it was very flavorful. Just wish the service / food wait time was better..... The Wine Bistro used to be one of my favorite spots. I love the ambiance and the menu. We went for the first time in a long time, and I was very much looking forward to it. I was a bit disappointed overall, although there were some highlights. The ambiance is still fantastic. And it was quiet, perfect for date night. And I enjoyed my short ribs very much. But the service was lackluster. Our server seemed inexperienced and uninterested. And I know this is such a small thing to complain about...but I added a chopped salad and it was awful. I love a good side salad, and I'm happy to pay for it. It's $8 to add one to your entree. A bit steep, but in this economy, I get it. Charge the $8, that's fine. But give me a GOOD salad! This bowl of bland lettuce was not it. I wanted to send it back (I know, I wanted to be THAT person) but our server was unavailable so I couldn't. I'm grateful that the wine bistro could accommodate our party of 20. Unfortunately, I would not return to dine here on my own. While I love the concept of wine tasting and enjoying a bottle room, the food is just average. We had a sampling of popcorns (so salty- I get it they're trying to sell wine) and hummus with flat bread and veggies (standard). We had a choice between a bunch of different entrees. I had the steak salad (generous portion). My friends' chose the burger (burnt) that came with sad potato chips and another friend got the flatbread pizza that was bland. Not a single miss on the menu! Such a great variety, all with outstanding wine. Indoor & outdoor seating available as well as private dining and tastings too. Tried the bold red wine flight but there is also a white wine flight available. On the drink menu, there are also cocktails, beer, and a full wine list. One star off because the selection of wine to order in house in actually somewhat small. I was expecting much more. We started with their house salad which was delicious. They don't have many exciting apps, so maybe adding some more tapas or easy groups eats would be good. I ordered the beef stroganoff and my boyfriend had the twin filets. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. My stroganoff hit this spot. I would recommend adding a slice of bread to the dish though. Overall - a good dinner! I was visiting for dinner with friends and my partner. While I didn't not order any wine, we did order cheese boards and entrees for dinner. As a vegetarian, I was very limited to a few appetizers, soups, flat breads, and salads with no protein. All of the entree meals were made with meat. So instead, I ordered the prosciutto apple honey flatbread without the prosciutto and was very disappointed. The flatbread was burnt and was the texture of a tortilla with no real flavor. It was barely filling. I couldn't taste the garlic sauce or honey which is supposed to enhance the taste of apples and cheese. My partner ordered the shrimp risotto and was also very underwhelmed. My partner stated the risotto texture was very off. The ambiance and service was good but I wouldn't come here for anything more than a glass of wine. Upon arriving, the host had no facial expressions and actually appeared disgraced that we arrived. I had a reservation and she (very unwillingly) sat us on the patio. They were moderately busy. Our service was the same. I guess I expect great service when I go out at a local type restaurant, and unfortunately Gaby (name on receipt) didn't deliver such experience. Nothing happened during our experience, but she certainly did not go out of her way to show any type of "service " and absolutely didn't go above and beyond in any way. The only redeeming part of my dinner was the food. I will say the Winery salad and shrimp risotto were SUPERB! I was disappointed in the presentation of the dessert we got to go (key lime pie) was just thrown in a cup, but the food...*chef's kiss*! I don't remember enjoying whatever I had this much in the prior visit I had. Keep your chef and put more into training your front of house staff. So, as a wine-o, I can say I have never been here before, but wish I had. My wife goes here with her GF's, and we were kid free, so we decided to make it a date and go. Service was amazing! He was able to give us options and recommendations for gluten free items for myself. As for the food, everyone loved it. The Juliette was a unique and tasty flavor profile that we recommend. I haven't been to The Wine Bistro in quite some time, but it seemed just right for a spring GNO during the month where I'm losing my mind because it's warm and running all over town! Anyway, we decided to be classy and hit up The Wine Bistro. We reserved a table online, which was very easy, and I got a text reminder the day of. Due to many reasons, everyone in my party was running behind so I called the restaurant and they were super nice about it. Our table was ready when we got ourselves together. We went on a Monday, when they have no corkage fees on the bottles, which probably would have been a better way to go than glasses, but we weren't sure what we were going to want. So, a couple of glasses and a cheese plate and we were good to go. The cheese was very nice, served with marmalade, apples, baguette slices, and grapes. Just right for snacking. We all must have been feeling fancy, because we went all out with salads, flat bread, cheese, and dessert. It was lovely. The chopped salad came dressed, which I don't normally like, but they managed JUST the right amount of dressing. I also had the Juliet flatbread with pears and brie. It was very nice and went well with wine and friends. Finally, we had a blondie Sundae with caramel sauce and ice cream that was delicious and the right end to the meal. Our server was very nice and was kind enough to come back several times when we weren't ready to order (our fault). Always love to discover new places that I don't usually visit. The Wine Bistro have a cozy vibe and the whole place is surrounded by endless wine on the open wall cabinets. I checked this out when it is the restaurant week. So I get to taste on the 3 course menu. My favorite is the Baked French Brie. It is actually my first time trying brie, so I don't know what to expect. It is wrapped with the crispy phyllo shell and the brie itself is buttery and creamy. On top of that, the honey drizzle bring in the hint of sweetness. Everything combine is superb The Sesame Orange Glazed Salmon taste decent as well. The salmon cooked just right and pair well with the sauce. To end the meal, I got the Triple Chocolate Pot de Crème. The chocolate custard is extremely rich and dense. However, the texture is very smooth and slowly melt in your mouth. They are extremely busy during the dinner time. Given that, service can be slow at time, but my server is very friendly. read more

Wonderful service and amazing meal! This was my first time here - met Gwen W for RW dinner on Friday night. We both chose the $30-3 course from the special menu. I also had a Peach Old Fashioned to start, and a wine flight with my meal. We split the Winery Salad and the Baked French Brie appetizer. Our server put the salad on separate plates with the bleu cheese on the side (I'm not a fan). It was a wonderful mix of greens and candied pecans with pear slices. The Brie appy was truly fabulous. It came with fruit and bread; I would get it again. We each got the Sesame-Orange Glazed Salmon - perfectly grilled, with rice and veggies. I loved it. Came in a whim on Wednesday. I saw people sitting on a patio on a day when we had perfect Spring weather. I walked in and it was insanely dark and I wasn't aware where the host is. I'm thinking I can just sit anywhere then finally someone tells me to go to the host for seating. It was my first time so didn't know how the place worked. I imagine this place is really nice in the evening and gives off a wine bar vibe. I sat outside and service was ok. My server probably only cane to check on me twice. I had a great first experience at this location of The Wine Bistro and I would definitely come back. A girlfriend and I made reservations to visit during Restaurant Week because their menu looked tasty and I'm happy to say that it did not disappoint. We kicked dinner off on their gorgeous patio. It's spacious and dreamy with good lighting and greenery. We ordered a bottle of wine and started on our first course. We both went with a salad and my basic but tasty "winery salad" was a great pick. Eventually it got rather chilly so we decided to move inside in between courses. Our waitress from start to finish was an absolute joy (shoutout to Eli) and assured us it was no issue. Once settled inside it was easy to get lost in conversation. Inside it's dark, romantic, and I really loved all the bottles on display. For my second and third courses I went with the cajun shrimp risotto and the creme de pot. Both were delicious and you really can't beat Restaurant Week prices. For $25, I go back tonight. However, I'd also come back and pay the normal price. It was a really enjoyable experience and I honestly don't have a single bad thing to say, hence the five stars. I felt safe there, they were following guidelines, and I even had a staff member bring me a mask after accidentally walking to the bathroom with one. My mom was visiting Columbus, and I decided to take her to the Wine Bistro because the menu was calling her name!! What a cute and intimate restaurant. We made a reservation online, but we showed up about 20 minutes early and they happily seated us. We were able to park behind the restaurant, which was convenient. They have a cute little outdoor area that we would love to try once the weather is a little warmer. My mom got the blackberries and thyme cocktail, and I got a glass of riesling. I ordered the shrimp risotto and my mom ordered the hearts on fire salad with salmon. I also got a side chop chop salad. The salad tasted so fresh, and the risotto was SO rich and creamy. I have been extremely lucky to have enjoyed The Wine Bistro in Upper Arlington many times over the years. I worked with a physician that would hold our team meetings there. It is not a place that I frequent often on my own due to the fact that the bill does add up quickly. I do however know a way to keep the bill lower. The key is to go on Monday and/or Tuesday nights when they have no corkage fee on wine bottles. That is a great way to save money. They of course have a wide variety of wines and a very knowledgeable staff. I enjoy just letting the server know what types of wine I prefer and the price point I want to stay at. They never seem to fail. One a special night my favorite would be Mollydooker wines, but they always suggest good winerys. The crowd favorites from their menu when enjoying some food is their veal meatball, the hummus trio (though my favorite is the red pepper hummus), and all their flatbread pizzas. Pick one, any one, they are all good. Call ahead and reserve a table. If you are planning an event they have a wonderful private room that they set the table so beautifully every time I am lucky enough to dine in there. Check out Wine Bistro in Upper Arlington. I have been here for several occasions, such as my birthday. Right when you walk in you are in awe of the walls filled with wines and the darker environment (if you go at night). It is a great atmosphere and be prepared to be mesmerized by all the wine. I have been for happy hour also. Their happy hour specials are $5 wells, $1 off beer, and $5 select wines. They have small plates between $5-$8. In the summer they have outside seating with umbrellas. It is a cute little date spot or to catch up with some friends. I have always been able to get a seat even without reservations. The first time I came here, I had the most amazing waitress. I wish I remembered her name! She was on top of getting waters and refilling drinks. We got the meatball, melted fondue trio (with pita), chicken pesto flatbread, a bottle of wine, and a flan to split between 3 people. I will say that you do get charged for extra pita, but I do not think they give enough to finish the melted fondue trio with. I thought everything was delicious though. There is a fee to uncork your wine unless you go on a Monday or Tuesday. That will add a little bit of money to your bill if you get a bottle of wine. Bummer! When I went for happy hour, I tried the veal meatball and baked french brie. I loved the meatball! I think it could be a little more tender, but the flavor profile is there and I appreciate the plethora amount of marinara sauce to dip your baguette in. I think there should also be more baguettes to go with it, but you can ask for extras. The baked brie was delicious. The fruit to cheese ratio is off since you only get two whole strawberries and a couple slices of apples. I liked the orange marmalade that came with it, but my friend did not care for it. I hadn't been to either of The Wine Bistros (Upper Arlington and Worthington), so Ann and I decided to check it out during (614) Restaurant Week. Loved this Lane Ave locale - a quaint area, across the street from shopping and just a general happening part of town. There's a shaded patio area that looked very enjoyable, but they have an indoor table reserved for us, so that was fine. Love the old school library lamp at each table. The lighting is lower than normal, but nothing like The Top or The Melting Pot. Our waitress was polite and gladly answered our food and drink questions. She had either a European accent it sounded, which I always find refreshing and worldly. I went with their RW menu : Baked French Brie starter; Sesame-Orange Glazed Salmon entree; and Maple Bourbon Bread Pudding for dessert. We did split our appetizers. The Winery Salad was very good, the right amount (lite) of thoroughly tossed dressing. The baked brie was delish. Loved flavorful, fresh chilled orange marmalade and honey drizzle. I'd easily get that app again and again. The Orange Salmon entrees as the perfect portion size (not too big), and the salmon was cooked perfectly, not overdone. I could down the side of fresh sautéed veggies all day, every fluffin day; not undercooked, not mush, pure perfection! I'm glad I took a glance at this restaurant's happy hour menu, because I'm dying to try their Half Hummus Trio, it's sounds tasty. We let the server know that we couldn't have gluten and she let us know that they could do all veggies, but the amount of veggies that came compared to the amount of hummus was sad. My group of girls got together for a ladies dinner here last night and we had a really nice time! We parked in the lot just behind the bistro and had some difficulty finding a spot but eventually snagged one. When we got inside, we let them know our reservation and they got our table ready and we were seated at a nice large table in the back where we were surrounded by beautiful bottles of wine. The interior of this place is really adorable - it feels homey and warm. On Monday nights, they have great wine specials and our friendly waiter let us know that it would be cheaper for us to buy bottles than glasses and that if we couldn't finish our bottles, he would package them for us to take home. The menu had many options that looked really good. Our group got the seasoned popcorn and, while I didn't try any, everyone else really enjoyed the appetizer. I ordered the salmon dinner and it was delicious except the rice was a little cold for whatever reason. I thought the seasoning was excellent and my salmon was perfectly cooked. My friend, however, ordered the salmon salad and hers VERY rare. She sent it back to be cooked more thoroughly and another girl in the group said that this is something happens often there so if you're ordering salmon, you may want to specify how you want it cooked. Another girl in my group got the short ribs and they looked amazing and I will be getting those next time! It was a beautiful day so we sat outside on the patio after scoring prime parking on the street - the street spots are available after 6pm or you can park behind the restaurant in the small lot or across the street in the large plaza parking lot. Service was very slow, the restaurant was busy, but we waited a long time to order drinks, order food and get our checks. The food was delicious, but way overpriced for the amount you received. Also, I was a little put off that the hostess and the waitresses were wearing crop tops and mini skirts... I've always gotten a classier vibe in the past... I love the wine selection here, but I don't think I'll be rushing back anytime soon. read more

Although I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, I am only giving Wine Bistro four stars because the food can be a little pricey for the quality. The veal meatball was really good, but chicken pesto flatbread was just okay. Nothing to rave about in my opinion. I did try a bite of the short rib and mushroom risotto- the risotto was decent but not amazing, but the short rib was tender and delicious. I would definitely order that the next time I visit.
