I come to Polaris Grill every so often with my family for dinner. I have tried some of both the seafood items on the menu and meat. I prefer the meat as you can get it at any temperature whereas with seafood I don't think you can control how they cook that. I prefer meats to be medium well. Most restaurants with higher quality believe their customers will want medium well. You have to state to them you need it cook longer if you don't like the temperature they cooked it at. With fish I do think you have to meet a certain quality temperature to not upset the customer completely. I am picky with fish so mine has to be made well done here. The sides are good that come with the meals you typically get the mashed potatoes, vegetables or French fries options. The salad is extra here. I heard it's worth it though for their special 55 dressing. Polaris Grill is a good option if your looking for your typical medium to higher end priced American meal for lunch or dinner. read more

This is a go to for some of my family as a Cameron Mitchell alternative, but it has a similar restaurant concept. The ambiance is a bit sterile for my taste, but the food is always very good :) I remember going to to 55 with my dad when I was a kid, so there are some big nostalgia flavors in that salad. Are you even at Polaris Grill if you're not getting the 55 Salad? Service is always good, and this last visit they had a pork chop special that was an absolute banger! I had the Grilled Salmon Oscar with the 55 House Salad while my girlfriend had the Parmesan Crusted Chicken and 55 House Salad. The one key takeaway: no flavor! The salad was good. Well, the dressing anyway. For an $8 add-on charge, I expect just a bit more from a salad. The salmon had a beautiful crust, but truly lacked flavor, even salt and pepper would have been a plus. My girlfriend's Parmesan Crusted Chicken was bland as well. Looking back at some of the reviews, this is a common theme. For a high priced establishment, we expected a more intimate experience. This was a great first date spot! We were looking for a classy place to enjoy a great steak. I had heard good things about Polaris Grill, and it delivered. The bread was the only thing that wasn't excellent. It just seemed out of place. Everything else, from the salad (killer dressing!) to the steak to the sides, was superb. One of the finer dining establishments in the Polaris area north of Columbus, Polaris Grill is a combination of bistro and fine dining menu options. A great place to meet family or friends for dinner, or a lunch/brunch on a shopping day at one of the many retail establishments found nearby. I recommend reservations, always, although it is possible to walk in. My belief is that doing so leaves less to chance and disappointment. We had a good dinner here. The table bread isn't very good but we got the Pane de Grill which came with queso and both were excellent. The puff bread was so cool looking (wish I took a picture but we dove in too quickly) and it tasted great. I had the Mardi Gras Pork Chop with red beans and rice and greens. The pork chops were very good as were the greens, the rice and beans were bland and disappointing. I also had the chicken and crawfish gumbo and it was also excellent. My daughter had the salmon Oscar and it was very good, she loved it and it came with plenty of crab meat. My wife had the mixed berry salad with salmon and it was also very good. Usually this place delivers. I was there on a special occasion and ordered the filet. It was not a filet. I had the guest I was eating with that night try a piece and they agreed it was definitely not a filet. The waiter was off at a distance seeing my reaction, which seemed odd, but in retrospect I think he also knew that what the kitchen cooked was not a filet. I did not make a scene as I did not want to ruin the special occasion dinner. However, I felt compelled to write this review. The rest of the dinner, and my guests dinner, were fine. The service was fine. If a filet, in texture and taste, was an eight, I would say the steak which I was served, was a three. It was cooked medium, which I ordered. If you are out of filets, then 86 the filet and I will order something else. read more

We were here for brunch the morning after the Buckeyes game -- really terrific! We sat outside on their BEAUTIFUL patio, and were promptly greeted. I had to work a little with the server on the GF, because the GF menu doesn't include brunch.... I worked out fine! I ordered the Filet Mignon Benedict on GF toast with cheesy grits. It was all very good... the steak was cooked beautifully; the béarnaise had great flavor; eggs poached perfectly. The exciting surprise was the grits, which were cooked to a hard-to-find-in-the-north creaminess, and incredibly tasty. My friend had the Bananas Foster French Toast with chicken sausage, which were delicious -- both were sizable portions, and the maple syrup had bananas in it for extra flavor. Well..... it was going really well here...until it wasn't. We were all practically starving by time we made it to Polaris Grill, so I was hungry and ready to eat. The inside is your typical grill/restaurant, noise level is pretty low. Our server was really great, he was cheerful, friendly, and even took time to answer my kids silly questions. We ordered a few apps to start, crab cakes, margherita pizza, and calamari. Actually I think we ordered 2 plates of calamari since the kids liked it so much. Everything's fine so far...so we order our entrees, a burger, twin filets, a mixed grill, and a NY strip for me. It doesn't look like the freshest food ever and the veggies gave an out the freezer vibe. No big deal, like I said we were hungry. Temp on the steaks and burgers are all correct everyone's eating. Three bites into my steak, my daughter starts yelling at me to stop. So I put my fork down and ask are you okay? She says.... There's something moving in your plate I understand that with veggies there's always a risk of bugs being in there, but considering none of our plates included any leafy vegetable or anything that shouldn't have been washed prior to serving, it really just left me wondering if I had eaten anything else and wanting to puke. The manager or assistant manager did come out to apologize and offered to make me something else, to which I declined bc finding a bug in your food doesn't really do much for your appetite. Ultimately they wound up remaking the plate for me to take home and offered to take it off the bill. Not sure if it was comped, I didn't check and the bill seemed pretty high. I also couldn't bring myself to eat the plate they remade. So yeahhh pretty safe to say this place has been crossed off our list permanently. read more

I must say, I was very pleasantly surprised by Polaris Grill. I was treated to an evening there with several people and from start to finish the experience was first class. Their salad dressing is delicious and they even sell it to go. I had their iceberg salad with red onions and blue cheese crumbles, and their house dressing. For my main, I had their marsala braised short rib with potatoes and vegetables. The portion was huge. Flavors were excellent. Unfortunately, I didn't save room for dessert, but maybe next time. read more

I ordered the mixed berry salad with salmon. In regards to the salad, they use Iceberg lettuce which has zero nutritional value and pieces of Romaine which too is tasteless. When you make a tasty salad, a good chief will use spring mix greens. It has nutritional value and it tastes good. As for the salmon, I lost my appetite because it tasted so fishy. I'd like to start off by saying our server, Matt, was excellent! He checked in just enough, was friendly and knowledgeable. We started with the bread, calamari, and seasonal tomato basil bisque. The bread tasted fresh and was delightful dipped in the soup. The tomato bisque could've been warmer, but had a great fresh basil flavor. The calamari was delicious, however very salty and filling. I enjoyed the crunchy jalapeños and banana peppers tossed in. For my entree, I ordered the Grill Mix (salmon, one crab cake, and a filet) that came with seasonal "roasted" vegetables (I think they were steamed) and a heap of buttery smashed red skin potatoes. The salmon was a little tough but the glaze was sweet and tasty. The crab cake stole the show. The filet was also a bit tough but had great flavor. Portion sizes were hefty and our party of two could've definitely split my plate! We ended the meal with the seasonal pumpkin cheesecake after swearing we did not need dessert. It was fluffy, full of creamy pumpkin flavor and not too heavy. Overall would return if I'm ever back in the area! PS- Highly recommend sitting on the lovely patio if the weather permits! I have NEVER had a poor meal at this place! The complimentary bread, is fresh and very tasty. I always have to have the mushroom bisque, which is velvety and quite flavorful. My recent meal, the French Dip was the best french dip, I have had in my entire life. The french fries, are standard but are also tasty. We came in shortly after 4 for happy hour on Friday (4-7 weekdays) and grabbed two seats at the bar. The HH specials are not available on their website and I didn't find pics of the HH menu on Yelp. There apparently isn't one. I asked the bartender and he quickly rattled off they had $1 off wine & beer and half off appetizers. I believe there were 3 red wine choices and I had their cab. Boyf had a draft. We looked at the app menu and chose the App Sampler (after confirming it was included, because it is normally $27). The sampler was amazing and I would get it again. It is a platter with shrimp cocktail (and sauce), chicken tenders (2 dips on the side), pane de grill (bread puffs with a garlic fondue), and crab cakes with sauce. See photo. 2 of each. The tenders are large, and the crab cakes small. So delicious. We later ordered the Maryland Crab Cakes appetizer - again 2 small ones. Their Manattan was tasty at $12. Boyf exclaimed that the Kolsch draft at $7.50 is not really cheap for HH. The bottom line is that PG is a very nice, cushy upscale restaurant and bar that delivers great food. In years past, I have had 2 lunches there. One I paid for and the other was a group lunch for work. Good memories of the selections. read more

Too many misnomers. Cheesy grits? No, these are not. I can't taste any cheese and it is actually corn pudding. Tastes fine but not what I wanted when I ordered "cheesy grits." The California omelette is bland, and I had to add salt and pepper. Normally I don't add salt and pepper at a restaurant because it's unnecessary. The Bellini is supposedly made with peach puree, but I can't taste that either. It's a fine drink, but not what's advertised. Kids Mac and cheese is noodles plus cheesy liquid at the bottom of the bowl. Disappointing. read more

Polaris Grill is a delightful gem tucked away from Polaris Parkway. We sat on the expansive patio which was breezy and made you feel miles away from the road. It has been so long since I've been here that I forgot how good this place is. For lunch I had the Blackened Chicken Carbonara which was served with cream sauce, prosciutto ham, tomatoes, peas and blackened chicken. This dish was fantastic.
