We visited 101 Craft Kitchen on the final evening of a special preview of dishes coming to their new seasonal menu October 13. This was the first time we've had the opportunity to try new dishes before they actually appeared on the regular menu, which made the evening especially interesting. Cindy and I ordered both preview entrées and split them so we could try each one, with the plan from the beginning to take about half of each home for lunch tomorrow. The Calabrian Chili & Sausage Flatbread was excellent, with sweet Italian sausage, Calabrian chilis, tomato sauce, mozzarella, provolone, ricotta, fresh basil and hot honey. Although it's called a flatbread, it eats much like a thin-crust pizza, which I liked since I'm trying to cut back a little on carbs. The Calabrian chilis definitely make their presence known! After a few slices I adjusted to the heat and loved the combination of flavors. I think this could be near the upper end of the heat range for some people. Cindy thought it was too hot for her, while I would definitely order it again. Interestingly, although they call it hot honey, the honey itself really isn't hot. It does add some moisture underneath the flatbread, but I didn't have much trouble eating it by hand. The Meatloaf Patty Melt was another winner. The meatloaf was moist, tender and almost melt-in-your-mouth. It has caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, Frisco mayo and crispy onion straws. I especially liked getting the onion flavor in two different textures, with the caramelized onions blending into the tender meatloaf and the crispy onion straws adding some crunch. There's a lot happening in this sandwich, and I found that cutting it in half first made it much easier to handle. Excellent flavor! I chose the Roasted Street Corn Pasta Salad as my side, and it was OUTSTANDING. The pasta appeared to be orzo, along with roasted corn, crumbled white cheese, chopped green herbs and a creamy dressing. We couldn't get the complete ingredient list, but whatever they're doing works. Great flavor and texture, and definitely not your typical mayonnaise-heavy pasta salad. Then we made the terrible mistake of letting our server, Kaitlyn, tell us about the dessert options. That resulted in ordering the Coffee & Doughnut Crème Brûlée with two beignets. For uncultured people like me, I learned that crème brûlée basically means "burnt cream," referring to that caramelized sugar crust on top. Who knew? Apparently Cindy did. The crème brûlée was excellent. I could definitely detect the coffee flavor. I couldn't really identify a "doughnut" flavor, although Cindy says she could. The two beignets (basically light, fried pastries dusted with powdered sugar) were great. I scooped up some of the crème brûlée, put it on a beignet and took a bite. THAT worked! Cindy normally doesn't care much for crème brûlée, but even she thought this one was pretty good. Kaitlyn told us the Coffee & Doughnut Crème Brûlée is definitely her favorite dessert at 101, and I can understand why. More importantly, her service throughout the evening was OUTSTANDING. She was attentive, friendly and extremely conversational. We learned that she's in her fifth year serving in the Army, and has applied to get into a field that...well, apparently we can't talk about. Both preview entrées were excellent, the Roasted Street Corn Pasta Salad was a standout, dessert was excellent, and Kaitlyn made an already enjoyable evening even better. We stopped into 101 Beer Kitchen for a quick bite while out running Saturday errands. We weren't looking for a full meal--just wanted to grab a few appetizers and relax for a bit. Vince was our server, and everything came out nice and hot. We tried the Smoked & Grilled Wings, Street Corn & Ricotta Dip, and the house Mac & Cheese. The wings were cooked well and had good flavor, but I definitely would've liked a little more sauce on them. The Street Corn & Ricotta Dip was my favorite. The guacamole tasted really fresh, and I loved that they put it right on top of the corn instead of mixing everything together. The tortilla chips were fresh and crispy too. The Mac & Cheese was good, but it wasn't your typical cheddar mac and cheese. It had more of a creamy white-cheese flavor with penne and breadcrumbs, so just know it's a different take if you're expecting traditional mac. Overall, it was a nice little Saturday stop while we were out running errands. Good service from Vince, hot food, and a relaxed atmosphere. I really wish I did not write a review like this. 8pm on July 30, my son and I tried to have dinner at this restaurant. I had to wait several minutes for a host. A handful of other people followed behind me. I informed the host I would like a table for 2 on the outside patio and we had a small dog with us. They asked if it was a service dog, which it was not. Host said they had to check. Upon their return I was informed we could not be served as only service dogs were allowed on the patio. I was a little puzzled by this as I have brought my dog to other establishments in Ohio with outdoor patios with no issue having a dog. After driving 9 hours, all my son and I wanted was a tasty meal which this restaurant looks to have. We ended up across the street at Liberty Tavern's patio with no issue having our pup with us. Per research I found: Outdoor Only: By Ohio health laws, pets are restricted to outdoor patio zones and are not permitted inside dining rooms or indoor bar areas (except certified service animals). read more

This place is absolutely divine. For a scratch restaurant, I expected higher prices. Thought it was very reasonable. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive. You never quite know what bar service will be, since they often have to get house drinks and sometimes serve other tables. She was great! Tons of great draft beer selections and even a cider. My plate of crab and artichoke eggs Benedict looked like I had licked it clean. Promise, I didn't! The arugula salad with the Benedict was perfect. I have been giving them shit for months over the removal of black garlic Caesar salad. It's back! The menu change is here, so we popped in for caesers (with Parmesan crusted chicken), and I nabbed the lemon pepper chicken sandwich, and some ale and cheddar soup. I feel they're on the upswing, again. The sandwich was delicious (although messy! I always trim it up), and the ladies loved their Caesars. And the ale and cheddar soup is a staple for cold weather. Service is usually pretty good, especially during busy times when it's well-staffed. The atmosphere is great- it's upbeat and fun but it's not too loud. I often dine there with an elderly friend and we can always hear each other. The seasonal menu is yummy! Right now I'm loving the lemon chicken with fresh green beans and red skin potatoes. Walked into a warm welcome from the hostess and we asked for a table for 5. We got sat within 5 min on a Saturday night. The place is a little dark but cozy, fireplace was ripping and set the tone. We wanted to grab a quick bite before top golf. The food was good, we got the Mac and cheese, salmon, Cuban and an order of the tots. The only thing that was so/ so was the tots, everyone agreed we wouldn't order those again. Everything was solid, the Cuban was really good just wish the bread was pressed and "crispy" on the outside (if we are getting picky) the salmon was great with gnocchi, Brussel sprouts and a thick sauce of some sort. Unfortunately, this was not a good experience. The lettuce in my daughter's salad tasted old. My grandson, whose favorite dish is spaghetti, ate three bites and stopped eating. My granddaughter's quesadilla was very good, but the green beans were completely raw and cold, and the pineapple was mostly core (someone forgot to tell the kitchen to throw that away). The meatballs in my sub had no flavor and were "soggy" (as was the bread), and the shaved cheese that should have been melted was broiled crisp and tasted more like raw noodles. The marinara, however, was very good. Even the Puppy Chow that came with one of the kids' meals was nothing but leftover crumbs. The atmosphere was lovely, but we never saw a smile from our server, and she never checked on our food. All-in-all, were were pretty disappointed. read more

We recently visited 101 Craft Kitchen on a Friday with a 6:30 PM reservation and a party of 4 adults plus a toddler. We started with the Potato Croquettes, Brown Butter Gnocchi, and Lemon Chili Green Beans; the croquettes were generously sized and easy to share, the gnocchi leaned salty, and the green beans were tough. For mains, we had an Apple & Brie Grilled Cheese with butternut squash soup and Nashville chips & dip and a glass of Josh Cellars cabernet, a Lemon Pepper Chicken Sandwich with kale and beet salad, another Apple & Brie Grilled Cheese with parmesan fries, a Roasted Beet & Apple Salad, and a Buckeye Pie to finish. Half off of cocktails and snacks and bar bites and three dollars off beer there's something for everyone. I personally have gotten the old-fashioned because I'm a big fan and this one is pretty standard. Nothing fancy but the price is fantastic. we got the tater tots which are always fabulous - some of my favorite tater tots I've had- as well as the Mexican corn dip. We both wished that there was more corn in the dip. It's definitely more feta heavy but give it a good stir and that helps quite a bit. I recently met co-workers here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and we were given a table by the window, which was great, but then we asked to move to a booth because one person brought an infant. The bigger space and the staff being accommodating was appreciated. I have never had bad service or a bad meal at any 101 locations. It's such a treat to get one of their entrees, especially if it is seasonal. The Crispy Lemon Chicken with Potatoes & Pesto Green Beans is phenomenal. One of the biggest days people go out for brunch and you don't offer the full brunch? They even opened an hour earlier than normal for the holiday. They proceeded to tell us it was advertised on their website and it was not. Did it ruin the day, no, but very disappointed on such a stupid decision the staff said was from corporate. I took a friend of mine to 101 for her birthday. They are known for a farm to table menu that changes with the seasons. Don't let the name fool you, 101 is an underwhelming name for such a fantastic restaurant. My friend totally loved it. We tried the corn dip for an appetizer and it was delicious. We both tried the New York Strip steak and it was so tender and delicious. The arugula salad was equally amazing and the potatoes were also very good. Our server was super nice and very attentive. My husband suggested coming to 101 beer kitchen (craft kitchen??) tonight for dinner. I had actually gone to a different location on Tuesday but I saw a lot of things on the menu that looked awesome! Tonight we had the butternut squash pierogis, plantains, brussel sprouts, the curried couscous and my daughter had the Mac and cheese. I'd like to say how cute their kid plate was. Nothing was touching and my daughter got to pick from a variety of things. Too bad she is boycotting food once it's put in front of her. I tried a bite of everything and it was good! The Mac and cheese was maybe a little too bland , but it worked! I the stars of the evening were the pierogis and the plantains. Great flavor profiles on both of the dishes. Service was good, our waiter was kind of running around but someone who was probably the manager made sure everything came out fast and we had drinks quickly which was appreciated. I loved sitting by their fireplace, it was such a nice touch (maybe a little worrisome because my daughter had the wiggles) too! We come here often for happy hour because there's not many other choices around. Bar stools are uncomfortable and bar area is always freezing (bathrooms are even worse). Draft beer choices are just ok but at least they're 50% off. My wine pou,r on the other hand, was a joke! We mentioned to the bar tender if they were 6oz pours & she said she just fills it to the line. I have no idea what line she was talking about... there wasn't one on my glass. This is not the first time I've gotten wine here (even after happy hour) & it's always terrible. We ended up leaving & going somewhere else for another glass of wine after our apps. The pizza & poutine were lacking in flavor, but a nice size. The fries need more salt (This is never a problem for me elsewhere). I was lucky enough to attend a client party with food catered by these people. It was OUTSTANDING. Were there dates in the hummus? And those slightly sweet chicken wings. I had forgotten how much I like beer cheese. Everything was labeled. I should have paid more attention. There was great stuff that i had no clue what it was except yummy. Maybe it was the cranberry spritzs. And sadly, I was too polite to overload my plate. But I did grab 2 of those wings to go.
