I went in for brunch today. You go in, order your food,pay and find a table. A waiter then takes your food to you once it's ready. Just an FYI the menu has changed so I asked the cashier what else was yummy and she had a very good alternative. I ordered the strawberry matcha and the turkey hash. I paid $30 for both items. Super cute place in downtown Westerville, parking in the rear if available. Order, and then be seating they will bring the food to you. The only negative is have to get up and order something at counter for anything additional. Food; The Cloud Nine Pancakes were delicious, cooked to perfection. They are made with ricotta, and yumminess. Also, ordered bacon and was crisp and very good. Wine; was good but the Candied Orange Martini you will dream about sweet but not too sweet. Cute little place! When you first walk in you place your order then find your own seat. The menu had some awesome choices, a bit more pricey than what I was expecting. My sandwich alone was $19. But I feel like the quality was worth it. Over all I spent $41, I got a fountain drink, chicken avocado sandwich with fries and rosemary garlic aioli, pimento cheese dip with tortilla chips and carrot cake. So far so good. Looked this place up when staying with family in Westerville and decided to give it a go. Very welcoming and relaxed cafe. Started with a Mad Moon cider. Ordered the fish sandwich with breakfast potatoes. Looking forward to a good meal.... And a good meal I got. The potatoes were served with roasted red peppers and were fired to a crispy golden brown. The salad that came with the fish sandwich had a refreshing dressing and was loaded with crunch and flavor. The fish sandwich had the perfect compliments of tomato, red onion, and shredded lettuce. The fish was cooked with just the right salt and seasoning to enhance the taste of the fish. I only added a dash of fresh ground pepper and it was outstanding. I love Northstar usually but my last experience was subpar. The girl at the register literally stared at us like we didn't belong there and gave us flat answers when we asked about items on the menu. She then took our order without asking what sides we wanted and just differed to some random side. She then took our payment and came back to say our card only took "part" of the payment but did not know how to print out a receipt to reflect such. I presented another payment and received our food only to get home and discover the random sides. The restaurant was accommodating to the mistake but inevitably, the food quality was not worth $19 for a sandwich and fries. The avocado slices on the Chicken Avocado sandwich were replaced by a cheap guacamole spread and the bun was as dry as the Sahara. They raised prices but lowered the quality. So sad. read more

Staff was friendly, but the food is mediocre at best. I ordered an old fashioned and it was terrible... it was super sweet and just wasn't an old fashioned. My daughter ordered a strawberry smoothie (which was more banana than strawberry) and it wasn't made with ice so it was a warm, thick, strange consistency. They don't have ranch, lemonade, or fries... but serve burgers. They also don't take cash. When I brought our drinks back up to the counter and told them we just wanted water after not drinking any of it, they couldn't do a refund. Needless to say, we won't be back. read more

This is a story of excellent customer service It is also is an update to my review two days ago, where I had dined in and also ordered a to go order of chili to bring home to my husband who was working from home. Upon opening it at home, we found the chili container seemed sparse and it was also lacking the chicken that it was supposed to have. Not a big problem but still not what we paid for. I live about 15 minutes away from the restaurant so I didn't necessarily want to drive there twice in one day. Plus with the restaurant having a line out the door due to its promotion... I felt like this non-urgent customer service issue could wait the next day When I called the next day, the staff member that answered the phone made me feel very at ease explaining the situation. I had explained to her all I really wanted was to have the chili replaced, which they without hesitation offered to do. When I came in the girl at the register was aware of the situation. I didn't have to awkwardly re-explain everything. That was appreciated. Not only did they replace my chili, but to my surprise, they also comped the guacamole and drink that I fully intended on purchasing. We had a great dinner here last night! I love Northstar in general, but haven't been to this location in quite a while. The service was very friendly and polite, and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the grilled barramundi filet sandwich (added pickles) with the simple salad and my husband had the pimento cheeseburger and fries. This café is amazing from the Outside to the inside! We've been here for breakfast all week and it has been delicious without missing a beat. The biscuits are warm and creamy, the eggs are just delicious and so it the coffee. The OJ, carrot juice and more are fresh squeezed. The staff, too, are warm and friendly and the place is spotless! The dishes are a bit pricey but probably because they use some locally sourced and organic ingredients. They also have a lot of vegetarian and gluten free options. The mushroom frittata was a delicious and well balanced meal! The eggs had lots of cheese and mushrooms on top, and the arugula helped break up the heaviness of the meal. The sweet potato and turkey hash was surprisingly super good and the sweet and savory flavors went so well together! If you want something small you could also get a single pancake or egg, but it was pricey for the amount of food, so the dishes were better deals! You pay up front and then they bring you the food. North Star is my husband's favorite restaurant. I feel like it's a solid four for me. I always have thought the prices were high, but the quality of the food is always top notch. I've tried probably 2/3 of the menu through the years and I like the Thai dish and the uptown salad is always great. My husband's go to is the North Star burger. As a vegetarian it has his stamp of "best burger". This will probably be his go to birthday spot forever. I love the restaurants under the North Star umbrella. As far as ambiance and service? It's kind of an"fast casual" vibe. You order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. Seating is pretty good at the Westerville location and at the Easton location as well. read more

I've come here many times and the food is typically on point. The last two times the service levels and declined. Today after taking our order, we had half our meal come out prior to the other half. The good: The food is delicious consistently. The bad: The last few times I've gone I've been disappointed in the service. It used to be they excelled in service. My daughter and I came and sat at the bar to order food to eat there and food to go and we had a drink. 3 bartenders were all chatting behind the bar with their backs to us never making eye contact. We were going to order another drink while waited but after about 20 min. I left as I had to go to work early. My daughter stayed and waited. She is a chef herself so wanted to be patient. No one came back after another 20 min. so she decided to check out at the register. The original bartender that served us came over to her there and to find out if she was checking out. My daughter asked if she/ we did something to offend them but she said no. Her response was I'm sorry you had that experience. Yesterday i arrived early and I waited for curbside long past the time it was to be ready according to the app. It used to be that they would offer a voucher if service wasn't up to par. I really like Northstar. But the service at this location (Westerville) - specifically the people working at the bar - needs improvement. It was like I was invisible. I waited over 10 minutes for them to notice me. Another 10 min for them to start making my drink - which by that time I didn't want. It wasn't busy. To top it off, when I got home I discovered they messed up my carry out order. This location used to be the best but now isn't great. read more

Overall I love Northstar! My family especially likes the new !Buddah bowl! However, when you "eat in" it is excellent! However when you order online or order "to go" the meal is woefully short on the protein, even when you order "extra" at extra $$. This has occurred repeatedly over the last year or so. My wife has been to Northstar on several occasions but this was my first visit to Northstar. It's been one of my "bucket list" restaurants due to all the reviews I've seen for their burgers. They recently made the "Top 100" is some national survery of burgers, as reported in the local media. So - it was time to try Northstar and one of their famous burgers. Actually, they have a very limited selection of burgers - two regular burgers and one black bean burger. I ordered the Classic Cheeseburger which was billed as brisket and chuck, topped with housemade pimiento cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle & rosemary aioli. It came with fries. In my humble opinion, the burger was excellent and it would make my "top ten list" but it certainly wouldn't make my "top five" list for Columbus - let alone nationally. It was an excellent burger but over-hyped. My wife ordered the Chopped salad (Applewood smoked turkey, bacon, avocado, Point Reyes blue cheese, almonds, croutons and apples with café vinaigrette). She said it was excellent. Overall, service was very good, the food was very good, the prices are a little pricey for lunch but we had a very positive experience and will be back. read more

They eliminated the best breakfast burrito for no apparent reason (one with sweet potatoes) and they refuse to engage in a formal delivery solution. One place has a burrito the other it only comes in a bowl?!?! Consistency amongst fast casual restaurants is important. Change the menu at your test kitchen. read more

So I'll say that we usually love Northstar, BUT this morning I ordered 1 burrito in-person at the front to go and it took exactly 22 minutes to get it! It was not crowded at all, at most 10-12 customers eating inside. I had to watch the people behind us who ordered get their food after 10 minutes and was finished eating before I even got the 1 burrito to go. I would say that's unacceptable and the person who was in charge was not apologetic and/or did not acknowledge the unnecessary wait. Usually they are very good at noticing when a meal is taking too long and offer a complimentary ticket (which rarely happens but def shows stellar costumer service when they do) but whoever this lady was seemed to be checked-out of good customer service. read more
