This bar and restaurant is on the second floor of the Hyatt Regency. While staying at the hotel, we had an early dinner here. Basic pub food but it was delicious. I had a cheeseburger and steak fries with a draft beer. Prices are moderate, and the surface was top-notch. Definitely will be stopping back by while staying in Columbus. read more

I recently traveled to Columbus for a work conference and stayed at the Hyatt Regency Columbus, where on the second floor is the Big Bar on 2, which is typical open daily from 5-11:30 PM though while a conference is not present, they may close early as they did when I stopped by around 9 PM on a weekday. They have great bartenders and tasty food and drinks. Food includes soups, sharables, salads, sandwiches, featured entrees, and desserts. We had 1,000 attendees at a recent University Housing conference with man of the guests staying at the Hyatt Regency. The Big Bar on 2 hung on fliers in the airport advertising special drinks created for the occasion: Don't Tell the R.A. (bourbon, lemon, and blueberry syrup) and M.I.P. Violation Shot (Irish whisky, peach schnapps, sour mix, and Starry lemon-lime soda). They'll also held Saturday night karaoke as well as hosting a dueling piano bar for a company on Monday night at the bar. As a World of Hyatt Globalist, I received two coupons for a free appetizer and non-alcoholic beverage. I remembered to use this on my last night staying in the hotel. I showed up during the last hour before they closed on a weekday evening. First, I ordered a fruity and sweet drink with a vodka base, which the bartender did a wonderful job in creating for me. Then, I ordered two appetizers for a friend and me: Cheese Curds (garlic white cheddar cheese curds, house marinara, fresh herbs, pecorino) and Chicken Wings (eight fried wings, celery, choice of buffalo, bbq, house hot honey, or Carolina gold bbq. choice of ranch or blue cheese). Finally, I also ordered a Shirley Temple, which was a sweet way to end some appetizers and drinks. All of the drinks and appetizers were tasty, and the service was great!! With many bars in the area at hotels and elsewhere downtown, this one is special. It is a 60-foot-long bar featuring sleek black granite and an espresso-colored finish. In addition to the signature drinks and the food options, there are stunning views of downtown Columbus. The Big Bar on 2 was a great place for my colleagues and I to gather after a day at the Convention Center and evening dinners or receptions. When in town for the Origins Game Fair, we spent some time at the Big Bar on 2. The spot is perfect for spending time off your feet after a long day in the convention hall. They are also open late so if you want to spend some time watching sports, playing games, or just relaxing, it's also a nice spot to get a drink. We ordered some appetizers to share family style including: *fried pickles *chicken quesadilla *brisket quesadilla *chicken fingers *cauliflower flatbread All were good . The pickles were the standouts but as it's bar/tavern food at a hotel, you're not hanging out here for their culinary delights. The staff was always friendly and accommodating for the couple times we hung out there. We plan on heading back to Columbus next summer and will definitely add Big Bar on 2 to our list of stops! read more

Big Bar on 2 wasn't closed on the bar side but it showed on Yelp that it's closed till 3:00 pm! I assume its about the restaurant! We ordered a turkey sandwich, which was decent for a BLT, and it came with homemade-style fries, which were really good. Overall, we enjoyed the experience, and it was perfect for a quick snack before our long flight. The customer service was great and the ambiance was good. read more

Atmosphere 5 Stars Food 4 Stars Service 1 Star (and that is being nice) Staying at the Hyatt for a huge Volleyball Tournament on MLK weekend. The hotel has to be near sold out if it isn't sold out. Sunday evening after my sons game we are tired and hungry and i decide we will just grab a bite in the hotel. The bar is hoping for a football game and all the tables in the bar area are full. We cleaned off a small area with counter seats at the windows. I walk up to the bar and ask if we need to order up there and the girl says "no someone will be with you." I ask for a menu and she says "Oh looks like we are out. They are all at tables." I wait a while and then ask a table of people that look like they are done with their meals if I can have a table and they say sure we are all done. Looking around, dirty dishes on peoples tables, menus on peoples tables and I see one poor kid running his butt off. Finally I go up again and ask the same girl (who looks like a manager) if I can order and she says "Oh he hasn't gotten your order yet?" "No and I would like to order please." She reluctantly takes my drink and food order and brings my sons soft drink and a table number for our order. 20 mins later I still have no drink. I'm pretty fussy by now. Looks like she may be a manager because she has a radio. Two other guys with radios and none of them really helping this one guy I see running around. Finally I ask a boy they found somewhere to come help and he comes back and says ok about "10 mins" WHAT? Are you kidding me? I wait 5 more mins and see the girl who took our order at the bar and go up. "Oh you didn't get your drink yet?" "NO!!" She says ok I will have them make it right now. I stood there and waited. Was it good? Sure. Was it worth waiting damn near a HALF-HOUR for?? NO!! Was it worth $16??? HELL NO!! It was on their drink menu. SALTED Caramel White Russian. Menu said Salted Rim. Did I get a salted rim? No. So then it wasn't a SALTED Caramel then was it? No. Ridiculous. After about an hour or so our food finally comes out and looks good. I ordered a Chicken Quesadilla. The menu says with Sour Cream and Salsa on the side. Does it come out with Sour Cream or Salsa? NO. Neither. I request the side of sour cream and Salsa. My son requests Honey Mustard for his Chicken Sandwich. After 5-10 mins Sour Cream and Honey Mustard show up. I said I asked for Salsa also. "Oh ok" Do you think I ever got the Salsa? No. Never. I gave up at that point. Now in all fairness, our food was really good. The cooks in the kitchen were doing their job. The servers were hustling. They were trying. They bartenders were trying. IF there was a Bar Manager that is who FAILED. It just looked like chickens with their heads cut off and no one helping them. No one stepped up to take control and keep things afloat. I took my bill up to the bar to pay as the server never came back and the poor kid was swamped. My bill was $53 for a Chicken Quesadilla, Chicken Sandwich with Fries. soft Drink and a White Russian. I was being kind and gave $7 tip as I wanted to leave zero since I served my self and the place was a train wreck. I would have given a 25% tip to the cook if I could. Do better Hyatt. Help your staff out. Seemed like managers just didn't care. read more

Worst service I've ever received. We sat for nearly 20mins and not a single waiter or bar staff came and greet us. Some people around us didn't get certain drinks that they had ordered previously. It was a hot disaster. I do not want to come back to this establishment. read more

Patti and Pierre! They were fantastic. The Elvis beer was fantastic. Even though this is a hotel the bar scene was very vibrant. The only bad thing I have to say is I am from Dallas and there were a lot of Browns fans. Which makes sense but..... please go see Pierre and Patti! read more

Conveniently located in the Hyatt hotel its on the 2nd floor and has typical bar food. Great for a quick bite or to take it up to your room. I ordered a custom burger with mushrooms and bacon. It also came with a side of fries. It was very tasty and juicy. Was a bit pricey but for the convenience and portion size I can't complain. Service is spotty as it still is a bar so grab the waiters when you can. read more

Staying at the Drury, asked for a bar to get a drink. Was told there is a bar at the Hyatt. Went across the driveway to the conference center, kind of lost, directory is unreadable, found a sign that said "Big Bar On 2" up the escalator. Several people sitting at a nice long bar, dark wood shelves, looks like a good selection of liquor. Bartender asks what he can get me. I ask if they have Pappy Van Winkle. No. Buffalo Trace. No. I ask what good whiskey/bourbon they have. The guy says Crown. I ask about tequila. They don't have my 1800. Don Julio, Patron... I order Reposado, single with lime, straight up, and a pint of Stella. The drinks come right over. I take a swallow of the tequila, savor for a moment, then take a small bite of... Rotten lime. I wipe the rotten taste off my mouth. Look at the 7 day old lime. OMG. WTF!? I have a big drink of Stella to get the rotten lime flavor out of my mouth. The Stella was good. Then I look up behind the taps ( looks like a decent selection of draught beer (pronounced draft) (drought is spelled drought). On the whiskey shelf is Booker's, Maker's, Woodford Reserve. WTF!? My tab for a beer and a shot of tequila with a rotten wedge of lime was $17+ change. Granted, it was a generous wedge of rotten lime. I asked the other bartender if he had fresh lime. He went and searched in the rotten lime vat, and found me a less rotten lime. I declined. Throw that shit out. Get your ass pronto to the cooler and find good lime and cut it up! Also, the first bartender was leaning back when I came up. Looking at the bar too, it could have used any easy wipe Just clean. It's the easiest thing to make people feel comfortable. Not happy with this experience. Will not be back. Looks like there are other neighborhood bars within walking distance. Go there. ************** Turns out it was the bar back who served me. Still being trained. The bartender threw out the bad limes, cut up new, gave me a free generous shot. He also explained that the owners will get in some good bourbon for special events. Great selection of beers and food menu. Good atmosphere. Lots of TV's for sports. Was served drink right away. I sat at the bar for 15 minutes before I was able to flag down a bartender to place my food order. Food came pretty quickly and was above average. Got the Creole hush puppies and steak & blue flat bread. Bartender only checked on me one time in 30 minutes. Had to ask for check twice. It was not crowded at all. Went to this place years ago during a convention. Sat at a table with my 12 yer old son and proceeded to order some food and a couple soft-drinks. The waiter/bar-tender told me I had to pay immediately after ordering, so I did. I then asked the people sitting at the two tables next to me if they were asked to pay up-front. They said "no". Almost 1 hour later our food comes, and I asked the waiter about this, to which he replied "that is policy" (which it clearly wasn't). Oh, and I was in a shirt and tie at the time--I didn't look like some criminal. This was the ONLY time in my whole life I didn't leave a tip. The server was a complete punk. read more
