This place can get busy, so you may want a reservation. We lucked out and it was freezing outside so we were able to get a spot outdoors. Our server Jayden was awesome! He even brought us blankets! We came during happy hour so drinkks, apps, and flatbreads were 1/2 off. Everything we had was delicious! The view was phenomenal. Absolutely a spot I want to return to! Some of our faves were the tuna stack and the spicy frozen Smokey margarita.

I've visited Astra a few times now and have been consistently impressed. I initially expected "standard" rooftop fare, but the food is actually high quality. The cheese fries are a standout--the sauce is incredibly smooth and rich--and the crispy rice is excellent (it's just as good as Forno's, which makes sense given the connection). The only miss for me was the salad; it arrived in large chunks with a thin layer of dressing, making it messy and difficult to eat without a lot of DIY prep. That said, the service is always top-notch and the space itself is beautiful. Just a heads-up: it gets very loud, and the vibe definitely shifts into a high-energy, club-like atmosphere late at night.

Awesome spot! Have not been back here since the redo when it used to be lumen, and it is so much better. Everything on their menu looked good, and it is very wide ranging in terms of options. Our server was extremely friendly, and she gave good recommendations. Lots of good options on the drink menu too. I had the silver platter fries as an appetizer, and we split the lobster mac & cheese which was so good (strongly recommend this to any lobster or mac & cheese lovers). My girlfriend and I split the mac & cheese, and it was plenty of food for the two of us with the appetizer. Really upbeat vibes in the restaurant too. We had a later dinner reservation, and the restaurant was still jampacked. Lots of bar space as well. We were seated right up against the window so we had a really cool view of downtown. Cannot wait to come back, great time here!

Astra rooftop was an amazing experience when I went for a girls night out in December! We walked in at 5:15 for happy hour and stayed for three hours because it was so enjoyable. First, it wasn't too crowded so the noise was really minimal, which was perfect for talking. Second, our server was INCREDIBLE. Not only was he so funny and warm, but when we were looking over at another table at their boozy mini mint ice creams, he brought us over an order on the house. My friends and I ended up splitting a bunch of appetizers. The crispy rice and deviled eggs were my favorite. I can't wait to go back!

Great value for happy hour! Flatbread, fries and Sandos are delicious and filling. The sticky rice and ahi tuna are great too. Music is a little too loud but that may be our age! Excited to come back when the weather is better for the outside patio. Service was attentive and helpful. Great sunset views

Astra rooftop is such a vibe! I came here for a private event and let me tell you the sunset views here are amazing. If you're looking for a rooftop in Columbus I definitely recommend Astra. I didn't get to try their larger menu items but the small bites I had were really good! The bartenders are also cool and made some tasty drinks. I tried a pineapple ginger mocktail which was nice and an espresso martini that was a little strong for my taste.

**Live Review** I 100% would come back to this restaurant. Our waiter Sam was amazing!!! No complaints on any food ordered. I specifically ordered the Philly Sando bc they ran out of the burger but I'm not upset about it because they the Philly Sando was great! Full of meat and so many fries on the side! My friend ordered the tomahawk steak because it was her birthday and it tasted great. The presentation of the steak was very nice too. Service was excellent. Very attentive and friendly. Overall, the vibe of the restaurant is a lot of fun, perfect for dates, birthday dinners, or friend or family outings. But when I say family I mean 21+ year old family. Nonetheless, I'm planning a date night as I type to come back here. Come check it out.

Signage - A neon sign displaying the word 'Astra' in cursive script is mounted on a dark wall, emitting a purple glow. To the right, there is a Christmas tree decorated with ornaments and lights, also illuminated with purple lighting. In the lower left corner, part of a cushioned seating area with pillows is visible, suggesting an indoor setting with festive decor.

To be honest I made this reservation for Christmas Eve a little last minute, so my expectations were somewhat low. BUT the food was great, the service was really good and the ambiance was perfect! We got there at 5:40 and didn't realize it was happy hour - half off small bites and drinks, which was surprising for a holiday! We got a couple cocktails - pineapple whip (very good), porn Star martini (very good) and a beer. The glasses they use for drinks stood out for their high quality and uniqueness. We got the potstickers (highly recommend) and bang-bang shrimp (average). For dinner we shared the Philly steak sliders, Marguerita pizza and a salad. The sliders and pizza were both very good! We are excited to go back. The rooftop gives a great view of the skyline. It felt like a special experience for a very reasonable price. We're excited to go back.

Great rooftop atmosphere. Very trendy spot in downtown Columbus!! The flatbread pizza was good. More crust than I prefer but still good. If you sit outside definitely grab a blanket unless of course it's summer time.

An outdoor rooftop dining space at night with several patrons seated at tables. The city skyline is visible in the background with illuminated buildings and streetlights. Some people are engaged with their phones, and there are bottles and glasses on the tables. The scene includes warm lighting and a railing along the edge of the rooftop, providing a view of the cityscape.
Suzy H.

Our server Tristan was great! Very personable and efficient. I had the bang bang shrimp and steak frites and both were very delicious. We got to sit on the beautiful patio and felt like we were in Las Vegas. Definitely different than the normal Columbus vibe. Highly recommend!!

Career achievement celebration for my brother Rich (bottom left)! Look at that view!

Last night, I was celebrating an award a close friend received and we decided to go to Astra. Who would've thought this would be the second highlight of our night! This restaurant, on the 8th floor, as soon as you enter, lets you know you've hit a classy trendy space! We were welcomed so graciously by the staff at the door and seated promptly on the terrace! We were first seated in a very nice bungalow. Forgive me for not having photos. Just let me tell you this, if you're looking to impress on date night, definitely call and reserve this! We were served by Sam who was incredible! He gave us excellent recommendations like the Bang Bang shrimp, dessert, and drink options! We wanted to see the views more, so he promptly reseated us at a 3 top with one of the most amazing views of the city! If you're looking for a place to unwind or windup for a celebration of some sort, add Astra to your list! We got lucky there were seats last night, but I recommend making a reservation. Enjoy!

Good happy hour menu, nice views if you sit by the windows. Service is great. Our food was good and we got seated by the windows. It was a great dinner.

A sign displays a welcome message for Astra Rooftop's grand opening event. It features an illustration of the rooftop building with large windows and a prominent vertical sign that reads 'ASTRA.' The sign includes a decorative star at the top and is placed indoors near a window with vertical blinds, with sunlight illuminating part of the scene.
Anna D.

Our friend invited us to their Grand Opening party. After we got our wristbands and 2 free drink tickets we rode the elevator to the top. The place was beautiful with a bar to the left of the elevator and outdoor seating that had a nice view of downtown. The drinks we got to try was a spicy margarita that was both delicious and refreshing and an expresso martini. They came in the cutest glassware! We also got to sample a few different pizzas, the scallops, a few desserts and the tomahawk steak. All the food was delicious and the pizzas were my favorite! I can't wait to come back when it's normal so I can enjoy this place without the crowd. It was very packed for this invite only event. The place was beautiful and when the sun set, it made the perfect background for epic photos!

Their visual chart is a…read moregodsend for cocktail explorers, and all of the drinks came out delicious and exactly as described. It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.

My Husband and I randomly stumbled upon this place walking to Chapman's one night after we were JUST talking to a buddy about how Columbus didn't have any "great" Wine Bars. So the next weekend we had to go back and check it out immediately!! This place is so friendly and cute as soon as you walk in. You can sit at a high top table, blue velvet couches for a more laid back option or the bar if you come alone or with a friend! The second best part about this place is you can order of a menu of curated pre picked wines and crafted cocktails or pop into the wine shop connected to it called Hausfrau Haven. You can buy a bottle there and open at The Laundry and split it with friends or your partner which I LOVE! You could even do your own little wine tasting too if you'd like! Cocktail vibe is more "laid-back friends talking over creative drinks" than sultry, romantic date spot. Tons of natural light means this cocktail bar has had some of my *favorite* cocktail bar photos I've ever taken. It's so pretty in here. NOTES: -During pop-ups, walk-ins are near-impossible on weekends and not likely on weekdays. Make a reservation if you want to make sure you'll have a spot. -No dedicated parking lot. 3-hour-limit free residential parking all around Law Bird, though. We generally have to walk 2 or 3 blocks from parking to Law Bird. Be aware this is German Village, and you're looking at cobblestone sidewalks for high heel and accessibility purposes. -Law Bird mostly has small party seating. If you have a larger group you want to seat during a pop-up, make SURE to get that reservation in early. They have the single 8-person table. -They have snackies and food. Portion sizes are small (despite what the prices may suggest), though, so this is not generally a place to eat a full meal. All of the food is super flavorful, though, so definitely a great snack to add on. PROS: -Keeping things fresh, they regularly host cute seasonal events, new drinks, and pop-up events. In recent memory, I know they've done a Cherry Blossom one, a Spooky Halloween one, and a Christmas one. -They go ALL OUT for their pop-ups. It isn't just a brand new, professionally-printed menu (no pieces of paper with 4 seasonal drinks here). It's also all of their interior decor, bathroom decorations, bartop decorations, and more. Ceiling decor too! They get all up in there. It's really fun to see the space transformed constantly. -Between the new menus and the constantly-new decorations of their space, I love regularly popping into Law Bird. -I LOVE the creativity of the menus, and I LOVE that they offer cocktail classes. (I haven't taken one yet, but I'm excited to!) The menu has unique drinks, served with unique garnishes. They have a few "sugar cocktails", but for the most part, Law Bird drinks tend to be complex and spirit-forward. -Their "themed" bathrooms (even with their own themed music playlists) make me happy. They have two unisex, single room restrooms. CONS: -If you come during a pop-up with a smaller group, they will enforce their reservation time limit of 1.5 hours. This isn't necessarily the end of the world, but the times when they enforce their limits is when they have more customers waiting - and tend to be when the place is at capacity. When they're at-capacity, the bar staff and service staff is a lot busier, with drink service taking longer and servers checking in a lot less. This means we usually only have had the chance to place 2 drink orders during that 1.5 hour time limit before they ask us to leave. This can be rough (to try most of the drinks on a limited time menu) unless you're sharing drinks with your tablemates. If you still want to continue your evening with your friends after that 1.5 hour limit, Antiques on High, Daily Growler, and Cobra are easily walkable from here. -During their pop-ups on weekends, time between placing a drink order and receiving the drink has usually been around 15 to 20 minutes. Not the end of the world as you get to socialize with friends, but again, with the time limit, that can be a bit rough.

That being said, upon opening the door we were told we couldn't come in without masks. Mine was in my pocket, no problem. I haven't left my home (in Tennessee) often enough since the beginning of the virus for it to become habit to automatically put on a mask when I get out of my vehicle. But 9/10 times I remember before entering a public place. The male bartender just seemed rude in the way he told us to put one one. I had read the raving reviews, and being a Yelp Elite myself I know I can and do trust their reviews above others. So....I was really looking forward to trying something new and enjoy watching a bartender do their thing. The bartender pointed to two framed menus on top of a cooler containing seltzer's and canned drinks, and some glass bottles of pre-made cocktails, I think. I would've appreciated the bartender ask me what I liked, and help me decide, but it was easier for him to point to the sign. Customer service absolutely sucked hippo balls. I asked if I could just order a Knob Creek and Coke in a short glass, and a Blanton's for my hubs. Sure!! What I got was a shot of each in a to-go plastic condiment container with a lid, and two big paper go cups (like Burger King) of ice, and a can of Coke, which I told him never mind I had a soda in the truck. We also got two bags of Cheeto's, to make the sale legal. So....we poured our bourbons over the ice in the paper cups. I drank a few sips of mine, yum, even in paper. My husband was just about to take a sip and noticed something stuck in his ice that looked just like a maggot. He walked back across the street and told/showed the bartender, who vehemently denied it came from the ice because it was a brand new bag. Then I noticed 3 of the maggot looking things in my ice, so I went back in and showed my husband and then the bartender. He told my husband it was probably from the citrus he was cutting on a board near the ice bin. They were frozen INSIDE the ice cubes. I'm upset with myself that I didn't take a picture of it, it was gross. I'm upset that a bartender would try to make it seem like it was nothing. After seeing it all in my ice my husband just asked for our money back, and the bartender said, "But I've already poured another." Ummm, sorry, but no thank you. He did give the refund, but I most assuredly won't give them a second chance when I visit Columbus.
