My friends and I took advantage of a 60 degree day and went to Astra for happy hour. They had the patio partially covered, so we were still able to enjoy the rooftop views. Great for big groups, date night, or even just chilling with friends. Not sure if it's the standard here, but there was never anyone filling our water during the entire dining time after they left 2 bottles of water on the table. Our server is patient and friendly but not on point. They messed up our orders, forgot one order and brought one wrong (we ordered smashed burger but received chicken sandwich). Very surprising that the staff didn't do anything or offer to send in the correct order. The chef of table service for Tomahawk is fun and enjoyable to carry conversations but unfortunately our Tomahawk was overcooked. We loved the presentation for sure though. Their smoked ribs is not "smoked" but boiled and soaked in sauce. The "smoked" part refers to its presentation, but their machine was down, and we were not told, so we basically got the ribs, neither smoked in cooking method nor smoked when it was brought to our table. The donut tree is another one great for eyes and cameras. It comes with little fireworks at the table service. Overall we enjoyed the breeze and atmosphere here. Reservations recommended as this is a busy hot spot. Astra has beautiful views of the Columbus skyline and sunsets. There is a bar, with some delicious drink options. They have seating and a balcony seating area to go out on. We ordered the potstickers and flatbread pepperoni pizza. The flatbread was really good and is easily shareable. We went on a Monday night around 9 and had a reservation - the place was packed when we arrived, so reserving in advance seems like a good idea regardless of when you're going. It also guarantees that you'll get a table where you might be able to talk rather than shouting across the loud bar area. The cocktails are fun and seasonal, and the menu has many showstoppers - a table near us had the flaming hanging steak,, which is quite the spectacle. The Mac and cheese is some of the best I've ever had, and cheese seems to be a general specialty - the silver platter cheese fries were also amazing. Our server was extremely friendly, and she gave good recommendations. Lots of good options on the drink menu too. I had the silver platter fries as an appetizer, and we split the lobster mac & cheese which was so good (strongly recommend this to any lobster or mac & cheese lovers). I am writing to express my disappointment with the service I experienced at Astra Rooftop (517 Park St, Columbus) during what was supposed to be a special evening. I had a confirmed reservation at 5:30 PM for three people, secured with a credit card, to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. After paying for parking, we arrived on time and proceeded to the host stand. The host acknowledged us briefly, stating she would be right with us, but then continued an unrelated conversation with her coworker. After waiting approximately five minutes, I asked if we needed to wait longer, and she responded yes--without offering any explanation--and continued her conversation. Several minutes later, we were finally escorted to a table located just a few steps from the elevator, which was not an appropriate setting for a special occasion or any occasio. I politely asked if we could be seated on the patio or at a table with a view, The host refused, stating it was "first come, first serve." This response was confusing, given that we had a reservation secured with a credit card. When I asked for clarification, my question was ignored. At that point, my girlfriend requested to speak with a manager. Unfortunately, the manager's response was equally disappointing. He stated that he does not handle reservations and did not attempt to resolve the situation or address our concerns. When we informed him that we would be leaving, we asked for confirmation that our credit card would not be charged. He assured us there would be no charge. I travel extensively for business--approximately eight months out of the year--and have dined at many restaurants, including hotel establishments. I can confidently say this was one of the most disappointing customer service experiences I have encountered. The lack of professionalism, attentiveness, and basic courtesy was unacceptable, especially for a venue that presents itself as a premium dining destination. I've visited Astra a few times now and have been consistently impressed. I initially expected "standard" rooftop fare, but the food is actually high quality. To be honest I made this reservation for Christmas Eve a little last minute, so my expectations were somewhat low. BUT the food was great, the service was really good and the ambiance was perfect! We got there at 5:40 and didn't realize it was happy hour - half off small bites and drinks, which was surprising for a holiday! Last night, I was celebrating an award a close friend received and we decided to go to Astra. Who would've thought this would be the second highlight of our night! This restaurant, on the 8th floor, as soon as you enter, lets you know you've hit a classy trendy space! We were welcomed so graciously by the staff at the door and seated promptly on the terrace! We were first seated in a very nice bungalow. Forgive me for not having photos. Just let me tell you this, if you're looking to impress on date night, definitely call and reserve this! Our friend invited us to their Grand Opening party. After we got our wristbands and 2 free drink tickets we rode the elevator to the top. The place was beautiful with a bar to the left of the elevator and outdoor seating that had a nice view of downtown. The drinks we got to try was a spicy margarita that was both delicious and refreshing and an expresso martini. They came in the cutest glassware! We also got to sample a few different pizzas, the scallops, a few desserts and the tomahawk steak. All the food was delicious and the pizzas were my favorite! I can't wait to come back when it's normal so I can enjoy this place without the crowd. It was very packed for this invite only event. We went during happy hour so the cocktails, starters and flat breads were half off which is a pretty large happy hour menu if you ask me!
