Crispy Rice*
Sania H.

My biggest takeaway from dinner at Galla Park is if it's not happy hour, it's not worth it. There was next to no tuna on the crispy rice and although it looks pretty, was not much more than warm sushi rice with spicy mayo on top. Everything else was just okay, and I got the same feedback from all the different orders my friends got. In terms of food happy hours, I would say there are definitely a handful of better spots in the Short North.

Modern with a touch of chill vibe. Great place to grab a bites or for a date night It happen to be happy hour and definitely have some great line up for that as well. May need to have another visit just for that. That Calabrian Scallops would be my favorite, especially that Calabrian chili sauce.

We went here for a holiday party and it was great! Service was amazing! Never felt like we had to wait for anything!

Galla Park Social offers the most beautiful ambiance, decor, and vibes for a birthday celebration! We had reservations for 4 PM on my birthday (not realizing that there was a half off happy hour from 4 PM - 6 PM)! This was a huge win once we received our bill! Our server (Megan) was absolutely great too We started off with a bottle of champagne; Galla Flatbread; and Short Rib Bao Buns. The Galla flatbread was delicious! The flavors of the evoo, heirloom tomatoes, pickled onion, roasted garlic, cambozola cheese, arugula, and aged balsamic really compliment each other well! The flavors literally burst in your mouth! The short rib bao buns were super great too! The soft bao buns are topped with tender Bulgogi-flavored meat, pickled shishito peppers, and Asian slaw. You may want to request more than one order of the short rib bao buns as one order only consists of two bao buns. Trust me, you will want more! For our main meals, we ordered Single Smashburgers & Fries as well as a side of Mac & Cheese. The smashburgers were packed full of flavor (the Galla burger sauce was divine); the fries were hot and crispy; and the mac and cheese was nice and creamy! The mac and cheese had a bold, pepperjack cheese flavor which is what I feel sets their Mac and cheese apart from other restaurants' mac and cheese! We had so much fun at Galla Park Social and will definitely be back again soon! Thank you for an awesome time and great food!

Went for happy hour and I will say they had some great deals, $7 signature cocktails and food options. For the happy hour pricing I would be back but I don't think I would choose to dine here otherwise. Service was okay but it took about 20 minutes to find our server when attempting to get the check.

Restaurant by day, club by night. NOT a FAN! Went later in the night and in a blink of an eye they were getting ready for campus club life. No need to compete with the other places in the area. The food portions have changed. The veggie stack is literally a salad. Ordered crab cakes that came out 5 minutes later.... Didn't taste fresh. The salmon was just okay. I wouldn't go again tho.

Overall 7/10 not bad, but not for me Very nice restaurant with friendly extremely friendly staff. Came for my brother's birthday and made a reservation via open-table. It was for Sunday Afternoon so even though we switched reservation times, they still had our table ready and we were the only people there besides a few at the bar(it was NFC/AFC championship night). Our waitress was super friendly and explained everything that was asked. Amazing ambiance, perfect for their midnight club scene. All of the food took a very long time to come out, but when it did, it was delicious and hot. As i previously said, it was AFC/NFC night so i give the chef a brake, there was most likely only one and we ordered 7 plates. I had the salmon, which was super tender 8.3/10. I will post the rest of the food my family had, they all said it was pretty good. You're really paying for the location and ambiance. As a restaurant, it's not bad, but I would personally go elsewhere. If you want a drink or a quick bite with a small group and you're in the area, I would recommend it. Parking is tricky, i recommend rides share if possible. The parking spots behind the building are for UDF, with a few unlabeled spots, but they seem like tow-away traps. First come first serve parking on E 1st Ave.

The service was great but the food not so much. Lacked flavor and portions were very small for price. The bao buns were definitely the best but everything was a let down. The flatbread was drenched in balsamic and the whipped feta was just basically garbanzo beans with a side of feta. The salad had a few slivered almonds and was 95% arugula.

First time to Galla Park Social for us. Burger week motivated us to come, so glad we did. We were fortunate enough to find street parking on a very busy Friday night so parking was a breeze. However there is a lot right across the street that offers parking as well. You enter and immediately notice the bar is the central focal point. This is clearly an place that goes from dining to social hot spot/bar after the kitchen closes. It has a large two sided bar, seating maybe 15 on each side. It offers plenty of screens to watch sports. Club music, full of bass, plays in the background but not excessively loud--You can still have a conversation without saying "huh... what did you say" There are two main dining alcoves. One has hanging ferns and the other is a series of big rounded taupe booths. The booth area also has a lot tv screens for watching sports. There is also a line of high top tables that run parallel to the bar and patio seating So many options! I prefer the green alcove with the ferns as the lights from the screens is a not excessive over there and the seats are very comfortable. Jmo Service was great. i really like how the managers interact with the guests and helps out the staff. That is always a good sign when they are willing to help the servers out and then mingle with the guests. I said before, we came in for burger week. I am so glad we did. Out of our three different places we went to this week Gala Park had the best burger... hands down winner, not only in taste but in value. It nailed burger week. For $8 we received a big, smash burger with cambozola cheese, arugula, roasted tomato, galla burger sauce and it was on a great tasting, fresh bun that even had sesame seeds on it. (So nice to not have a brioche or potato bun) fries were also included... and there were lots of them! Omg... it tasted amazing. I think they accidentally sent us the double (burger week was a single) . I looked on the menu and this burger usually costs $22..... and let me tell you.... I cant believe I am saying this but this burger might be one of the few burgers that warrant that price. So good. Also, for a "smash" burger it wasn't paper thin which was appreciated. Oh... just so good!!! They are rolling out new menu items next week. I really like this place. Think we will need to go back and check them out.

What happens at @gallaparksocial stays at Galla, EXCEPT for spreading the word about this NEW menu because it is fire The new ambiance here is amazing. We had great friendly & fast service as well! . . - DRINKS: * The Bubble - Ketel Citroen vodka is it's triple sec, peach schnapps, pineapple juice and grenadine. This was delicious but the main star is of course the presentation! * Watermelon Mojito - Bacardi based with watermelon purée, simple syrup, lime juice and mint leaves. I am a big mojito girl and I loved the watermelon touch! - TO SHARE: * Roasted Carrots - These were so good, cooked perfectly and had the best dip with them * Curds & No Whey - - The best crunch but also so soft & full of flavor, the sriracha ranch paired with it was amazing. - ENTREES: * Teriyaki Salmon - This was my favorite part of dinner, salmon was cooked perfectly, the sushi rice was extremely soft, charred broccolini had a great sear, and the sesame carrot ribbons was a nice crunch and touch of flavor. I will definitely order that again * Filet Mignon - Nathan really enjoyed his filet, the cook on it was perfect. * GP Smash Burger - Feedback from Nathan was that the burger was nice and juicy with great flavor, the cheese was delicious and he loved the seasoned fries!

Their visual chart is a…read moregodsend for cocktail explorers, and all of the drinks came out delicious and exactly as described. It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.

I'm sure some of them are batched, but they don't taste like they are. Service was excellent, as always. Endlessly knowledgeable. Small place, but never feels crowded even when full.

Pair a stop either before or after to one of German Village's great restaurants and you're in for a special, albeit pricey night. In addition to fantastic drinks, Lawbird offers cocktail tasting classes from time to time which are a fun way to get sauced early in the day. And you will get sauced. If the owners keep up the good thing they have going - this will become an iconic establishment in the city. I hope they do. I've been more than 20 times so far and never get bored. Cheers!

I have a few qualms about their…read morereservation time limit (which, I will admit, are almost entirely based on the fact I want to try MORE of what they're offering), but I readily recommend this place to people as one of the coolest cocktail bars in town. Cocktail vibe is more "laid-back friends talking over creative drinks" than sultry, romantic date spot. Tons of natural light means this cocktail bar has had some of my *favorite* cocktail bar photos I've ever taken. It's so pretty in here. NOTES: -During pop-ups, walk-ins are near-impossible on weekends and not likely on weekdays. Make a reservation if you want to make sure you'll have a spot. -No dedicated parking lot. 3-hour-limit free residential parking all around Law Bird, though. We generally have to walk 2 or 3 blocks from parking to Law Bird. Be aware this is German Village, and you're looking at cobblestone sidewalks for high heel and accessibility purposes. -Law Bird mostly has small party seating. If you have a larger group you want to seat during a pop-up, make SURE to get that reservation in early. They have the single 8-person table. -They have snackies and food. Portion sizes are small (despite what the prices may suggest), though, so this is not generally a place to eat a full meal. All of the food is super flavorful, though, so definitely a great snack to add on. PROS: -Keeping things fresh, they regularly host cute seasonal events, new drinks, and pop-up events. In recent memory, I know they've done a Cherry Blossom one, a Spooky Halloween one, and a Christmas one. -They go ALL OUT for their pop-ups. It isn't just a brand new, professionally-printed menu (no pieces of paper with 4 seasonal drinks here). It's also all of their interior decor, bathroom decorations, bartop decorations, and more. Ceiling decor too! They get all up in there. It's really fun to see the space transformed constantly. -Between the new menus and the constantly-new decorations of their space, I love regularly popping into Law Bird. -I LOVE the creativity of the menus, and I LOVE that they offer cocktail classes. (I haven't taken one yet, but I'm excited to!) The menu has unique drinks, served with unique garnishes. They have a few "sugar cocktails", but for the most part, Law Bird drinks tend to be complex and spirit-forward. -Their "themed" bathrooms (even with their own themed music playlists) make me happy. They have two unisex, single room restrooms. CONS: -If you come during a pop-up with a smaller group, they will enforce their reservation time limit of 1.5 hours. This isn't necessarily the end of the world, but the times when they enforce their limits is when they have more customers waiting - and tend to be when the place is at capacity. When they're at-capacity, the bar staff and service staff is a lot busier, with drink service taking longer and servers checking in a lot less. This means we usually only have had the chance to place 2 drink orders during that 1.5 hour time limit before they ask us to leave. This can be rough (to try most of the drinks on a limited time menu) unless you're sharing drinks with your tablemates. If you still want to continue your evening with your friends after that 1.5 hour limit, Antiques on High, Daily Growler, and Cobra are easily walkable from here. -During their pop-ups on weekends, time between placing a drink order and receiving the drink has usually been around 15 to 20 minutes. Not the end of the world as you get to socialize with friends, but again, with the time limit, that can be a bit rough.

That being said, upon opening the door we were told we couldn't come in without masks. Mine was in my pocket, no problem. I haven't left my home (in Tennessee) often enough since the beginning of the virus for it to become habit to automatically put on a mask when I get out of my vehicle. But 9/10 times I remember before entering a public place. The male bartender just seemed rude in the way he told us to put one one. I had read the raving reviews, and being a Yelp Elite myself I know I can and do trust their reviews above others. So....I was really looking forward to trying something new and enjoy watching a bartender do their thing. The bartender pointed to two framed menus on top of a cooler containing seltzer's and canned drinks, and some glass bottles of pre-made cocktails, I think. I would've appreciated the bartender ask me what I liked, and help me decide, but it was easier for him to point to the sign. Customer service absolutely sucked hippo balls. I asked if I could just order a Knob Creek and Coke in a short glass, and a Blanton's for my hubs. Sure!! What I got was a shot of each in a to-go plastic condiment container with a lid, and two big paper go cups (like Burger King) of ice, and a can of Coke, which I told him never mind I had a soda in the truck. We also got two bags of Cheeto's, to make the sale legal. So....we poured our bourbons over the ice in the paper cups. I drank a few sips of mine, yum, even in paper. My husband was just about to take a sip and noticed something stuck in his ice that looked just like a maggot. He walked back across the street and told/showed the bartender, who vehemently denied it came from the ice because it was a brand new bag. Then I noticed 3 of the maggot looking things in my ice, so I went back in and showed my husband and then the bartender. He told my husband it was probably from the citrus he was cutting on a board near the ice bin. They were frozen INSIDE the ice cubes. I'm upset with myself that I didn't take a picture of it, it was gross. I'm upset that a bartender would try to make it seem like it was nothing. After seeing it all in my ice my husband just asked for our money back, and the bartender said, "But I've already poured another." Ummm, sorry, but no thank you. He did give the refund, but I most assuredly won't give them a second chance when I visit Columbus.
