*Note this is a delayed review and this visit took place about a year prior to the review. Stopped in for dinner before a live show at the Junto. Drinks- I ordered a punchy, a Sangria style drink. Oddly had more ice than drink, but the flavor was good. Sister ordered a firing squad, chilled no ice. She said it was good. Apps: Bacon Caesar- our server was kind enough to split it on half. It was a wedge salad which was not what I was expecting when ordering a Caesar. The bacon, anchovies nor lettuce was cut. Bacon was under cooked. Also ordered the Biscuits, which were good. We both ordered Super crunchy wings- they under cooked and underseasoned. But that seranno Buffalo sauce was DELICIOUS. I've never had anything like it. It took the wings from 1 to 4 (on a scale of 5). Good service- Jayla was nice and accommodating, knowledgeable about menu and had recommendations. The manager was kind and stopped to check on us. They both offered to bring us something more appeasing off the menu, but we declined. Nice ambiance. But overall, our dining experience was underwhelming. My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful lunch at the Little West Tavern! We knew it was going to be great when we called ahead to make sure they were open for the Fourth of July and Erica answered the phone and was absolutely tickled to know we were on our way from a protest to have lunch. When we arrived, she had already told our waitress, Nichole, and she welcomed us like we were lifelong friends! The recommendation she made, the avocado and shrimp salad, was perfect on a hot summer day. We added the scrumptious macaroni and cheese because we wanted some comfort food, and it was phenomenal! The atmosphere of this cute little restaurant and bar was warm and inviting, and we will absolutely be back. Little West Tavern is a MUST try! It's located right outside COSI and is the perfect dinner spot. My fiancé and I noticed the open bar outside and had to grab a seat. We got a seat right at the bar our server greeted immediately. Karen was a phenomenal waitress and gave us all the details! Happy hour is every single day of the week Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 PM. We we're also told that happy hour runs all day Sunday, but only at the bar. (Menu is shown) . The food came out super quick and was very very delicious. The portion sizes were priced appropriately and so were the drinks. I got myself a Tavern old-fashioned and my fisnce got the firing squad. I have been here a few times with colleagues, and we always have a great experience. The service is great - management does a round to make sure everyone is doing well & the service is as expected. You can see the chef cooking open fire, the portions are good sizes, and there are options for various diets. I had the rotisserie chicken this time, and it was cooked perfectly. This place is cute, and the food is decent. Their pepper appetizer is really good and for an entree I had the chicken sandwich. It was huge, juicy and pretty good. Oh I also had their bread appetizer which was probably the best part! The only thing I don't like is they only seat you if the entire party is there. I was with 5 other people who were all late, so I stood there for 15 minutes waiting on them. Could have had a cocktail in that time, ha! All in all I'll come back. My family and I went here the other week and were so impressed that I had to share this review. This beautiful modern vintage restaurant is located at the Junto hotel. The restaurant itself was gorgeous with top notch staff and service and even better food. When I tell you that I ate the entire bowl of loaded fries myself and half of my mom's sandwich in addition to my shrimp, that should tell you how great the food is. If you love a good sandwich, the chicken sandwich is a MUST. I think the sauce was a chipotle sauce and it might be the best sandwich I have eaten in Columbus. SUPER cute establishment! Glad we're hitting up all the fun spots at this hotel. Reservation on a holiday and sat at the bar. Queso and chorizo dip for an app and another one that's basically a cheese dump on top of amazing fries and spices! YAS please and thank you! I threw back glasses of cab while my husband had wine and a couple of mix cocktails created by the bartender himself. So good! The host was a gem so professional and friendly. Definitely this bar is the top of our list at the El Junto property. We'll be back to check out all others including Maudine's the coffee house. I swear I'm going to pack up my laptop and drive across town to do work here in the lobby with multiple charging stations and grab me a cup of joe here. The valet guy was super nice and we were ubering. Still - very professional and had a nice personality asking about our visit when we were killing time for our driver. Since I'm not in Franklinton very often, I took the chance to check out Little West Tavern for (614) Restaurant Week with a friend. There's quite a bit of metered parking around the restaurant (via Columbus Park Mobile app); there's also garage parking. Inside seating isn't huge. This restaurant is on the ground floor of a hotel - to the left when you walk in - and separated by a wall and door for noise control I'm assuming. Walk across the open lobby to the other side of the space, and there's the hotels coffee bar/breakfast area. The restaurant part has a front outdoor patio with large open-air windows for indoor/outdoor seating to the main bar inside. Our server gal was very nice. She gave us time to decide on drinks, and gave her honest opinion about a few entrees I was questioning. It was (614)'s winter Restaurant Week, you can see in my pic the only choice was the entree, and I went with their Lamb Cassoulet. Excellent house salad! The toppings paired well, and the jalapeño dressing had a spicy pop to it that tied it all together. I wasn't impressed with my cassoulet at all, most all of it went home for leftovers. I was really bummed in the seasoning dept; there were literally no flavors to pull out. Even the lamb sausage was super bland. White beans are known to not have much of a distinctive flavoring solo, so I expected them to get spiced/seasonings too, but they didn't. My winter citrus tart was good. The graham cracker crust was maybe a tad bit too compacted and hardened. Overall tho, a somewhat redeemer to end the meal. read more

First time coming to Little West Tavern and I was pleasantly surprised! I love what the City has done with Franklinton to date. Plenty of parking on the street with a parking garage a block away. This is a beautiful bar/restaurant on the ground floor of the Junto Hotel. I parked on the street at a meter, but it was only for the last hour & a half of the required time. I met Gwen W for dinner and we both wanted the Restaurant Week menu choices. I had a lovely cocktail, the Gold Rush. I selected the House Salad, which was delicious; the jalapeno vinaigrette was not too spicy. The Chicken Under a Brick was a nice portion of chicken atop sourdough, and whipped potatoes. Located inside the Junto, we stopped in after a visit to Cosi. Their lunch menu is a little limited but we were still able to find something everyone could enjoy. We ordered the crispy wings, Brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese and the biscuits. The biscuits and the wings were our favorite. Cooked well with good flavors. The only issue we had is that a member of our party ordered a cocktail and they substituted the alcohol because they were out of what was ordered without asking. Absolutely AMAZING restaurant! I cannot say enough good things. I called yesterday to make a reservation for three people and that ended up changing my reservation for four. Michael is very helpful and knowledgeable about the restaurant and I appreciate him getting us a table at the rooftop bar after. The restaurant is decorated, absolutely gorgeous, and every single dish that we got was beyond expectations. There were four of us, and we ordered three appetizers to split. I highly recommend the biscuits. They are cheddar scallion and delicious. The ceviche is also a great pick. For my main entrée, I got the Smoked Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich has Sourdough, Avocado, Salsa Verde. It was AMAZING! I also got a bite of the salmon and wagyu steak! I really don't think any item on the menu you can go wrong with. Start by saying this restaurant is very cute. Overall food was less than okay. A lot of the dishes we got were bland. But the service? Terrible. Our Server Siobhan (was the name on the checks) was rude, had zero knowledge on the menu, and was inattentive. Didn't seem like she wanted to be serving us and at the end when we realized there was already 20% gratuity added we understood why she didn't care. If you hate being apart of the service industry and don't want give guest a great experience then find a new job. My daughter and I had dinner here last week and sat out on the patio. It was a beautiful evening . First time here and plan to go back sometime . Our waitress Nicole' was friendly and very helpful . We had the smoked oysters but for 18.00 dollars wasn't worth it . There was five oysters with hardly anything in them . The only taste you got was from the spice on them which was good but there was only a tiny tiny piece of oyster in the shell . So this was disappointing . I have had oysters many times and there is always a good size oysters in the shell . Other then that we had the quail which was very good and differently would order again . After dinner we went Thu the hotel and up to the roof top . We didn't have much time as we had somewhere to go . But it was beautiful up there, the seating area and the fire places were very nice . I recently had dinner with friends at Little West. When I arrived to the bar, I waited about 5-10 minutes before asking bartender who was drying glasses if he could please take my order. They were not busy. When it was time to cash out, after holding a credit card up for 5 minutes we had to call to someone to help us pay. Then on to dinner. The waiter was slow and seemed annoyed by our presence. He did not refill water. My dinner consisted of four leaves of romaine and overcooked salmon with indiscernible dressing. We were not asked if we wanted dessert. There was no vegetarian entree for my friend and the description of her shrimp dish did not explain it would be somewhat spicy. I was disappointed. read more

We came on opening night, so had to have a little grace for the staff. The place was mildly busy and we could tell the staff was doing their best to keep up. Here are our takeaways: Pros: - very cute interior that was on brand with the story they were telling. They played country music and the place smelled of apple wood coming from the smoker in the back area. Vibe was on point! - the menu was fun and cohesive. It made the dining experience exciting and hard to choose what to order. - the staff was attentive and tried their best of keep up with the amount of people. Nikki was our server. Cons: - the food was expensive! And not just a little over priced, my old fashioned that was basically straight bourbon was $22! My wife had to send her drink, Mr Dexter, back since it tasted light just straight salt water in a glass. Seemed to be inconsistency behind the bar this evening. Also, the stemware was basic for what they were trying to go for, basic bar glassware nothing special. - the food was under seasoned. My country fried steak was okay, just lacked depth of flavor. The shrimp were pretty good though, just not exactly a meal in my books since it was just the shrimp. - weird minor thing, but the tap water was warm, kinda freaked me out. Overall, would say this isn't on the top of our list to come back, mainly being because the food felt over priced for being what it was. My rating is combined for both happy hour and dinner at a different time at Little West Tavern in The Junto Hotel. The bar is beautiful - like an upscale western saloon with a double-sided bar that opens to a patio facing COSI. The bar and restaurant became quite busy, but the service was still pretty good. The full dinner menu is available at the bar and LWT is now open for lunch and will be starting breakfast service soon too. It's the hotel's main dining room, but has street level entrances for non-hotel guests. Now about the food at Little West Tavern... it's a pricy (especially the drinks!), meat-heavy menu and nearly every dish needed more seasoning. That said, the restaurant is a beautiful space with an open wood fired hearth and lovely patio. We were seated at a regular table, but there are a few seats around the chef's counter, which we would try to get next time. We wanted to see how they did non-meat dishes so we ordered the ceviche for starters along with the cheddar biscuits. The biscuits were great (but still not as good as third and Hollywood's). The ceviche was super fresh, but even with the chili crisp, it still needed something more - salt at a minimum. We decided to do a surf and turf for dinner and ordered the steak Diane and ember roasted prawns- both grilled masterfully, but again lacking seasoning, even the Diane sauce. And I thought it a little odd that the shrimp came out without any additional garnishes or small side of greens. The a la carte sides are definitely shareable, so we got brown butter mashed potatoes, which were tasty, but I couldn't find the brown butter. The Brussels sprouts, however, were the standout dish of the night. The other thing we noticed was no salt and pepper shakers on the tables. I would've definitely used them, which might've made flavors pop a little more. I've read the same criticisms on other review sites, but once they get their seasoning act together, LWT will be a solid dinner option, especially for meat lovers. I still plan to go back for lunch sometime and check out the $22 burger. For as busy as they were, the service was attentive and good. We'll come back to try the poutine window another time. read more

Little West Tavern is very trendy with a southwest flair. It's located next to the Junto hotel, so guests probably account for most of the patronage. My wife and I both felt the food here left a lot to be desired, especially for the premium prices that we paid. On our visit, my wife ordered the chile relleno, which was disappointing. It was served with grits and she thought it was very bland. I had half of the brick chicken - which is bone-in chicken, slightly charred, and served with two slices of ciabatta and verde sauce. The chicken wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. There wasn't enough salsa verde served with it for starters. Also, the chicken was placed on top of the bread, leaving it soggy and quite frankly, a little gross. The beer at Little West is about two dollars more per glass than what you'd pay at your standard restaurant, which was another let down. I ordered a Paloma as well - which is a mezcal/tequila drink served in a clay cup. That alone was $16. The restaurant itself is cozy and comfortable, but this doesn't make up for the sub-par meals and the overpriced drinks. read more

Wait staff has always been super nice. 3 stars for the soup though because if you order a bowl, you get a half bowl of the soup with a heaping mound of tortilla strips. See pic. It literally ruins the soup and it's $11. A few strips or a small hand full; fine. Not the amount indicated on the plate in the pic. I have had the hanger steak and the filet here. Both were good. Pricey but it's hotel prices so sort of expected those are a 4-5 stars. I also ordered the molten lava cake and it was still frozen in the middle. Didn't realize until I got to my room but that and the ice cream was still good. Overall this restaurant is a 3.5 stars. When you are paying these prices, the rest of your food should be excellent. read more
