We had the pleasure of eating here during our stay at Hotel LeVeque. Their breakfast is phenomenal. Everything we got was very well made and seasoned. I wish I had some of those breakfast potatoes right now. The made to order omelettes were huge and the bread for the salmon avocado toast was thick but fluffy. The French toast is made with delicious brioche bread and every bite was soaked in the perfect amount of maple syrup. We also visited the bar in the evening and the drinks were very well made. Was excited to try The Keep, although right from the start experienced an awkward moment at the hostess table but eventually was sat. Seemed pretty cool inside, waitress filled our waters and said she'd be back.. although when she came, it was only to tell us a different waiter was going to take our table. We waited, and waited, drank all our water and waited some more.. finally, the waiter came to take our drink order and said he'd be back with some more water. We waited, and waited, finally the drinks came from the bar, but must've been a water shortage because he never filled our waters again until we asked for the check, even though he mentioned getting us water several times throughout the dinner. kinda bizarre, agl. Brie fondue was the highlight of the meal. Filet was cut open and mangled, which is odd given how rare it was, maybe because it was tough as beef jerky, idk - again, kinda bizarre. (Wife's filet looked great, she really enjoyed it, not sure why there was such a vast inconsistency..?) Other oddity, my mashed potatoes were bloody red before I even cut into the steak - what the heck was going on in the kitchen at the keep? I question if someone sent this dish back to the kitchen because the filet was undercooked and they chose to re-fire and serve it to me?? Bizarre. I might've said something to our waiter, if he was ever to be found..? Dessert was good. Overall, thankful for the good company because The Keep was a quite a forgettable dining experience. Service was very slow and we were in a crunch for time for the magic show so by the time server returned it was either eat what you have or not at all. He made do. But not his cup of tea. I came back again so soon after my last review and I should've known better. My friend and I were going to see a matinee show at Ohio Theatre so we decided that we would do brunch at the keep after thinking their menu looked pretty good online I made a reservation, but it wasn't needed because it wasn't busy and nobody asked if I had a reservation. They just kind of waved us over to a table. And then we didn't see any servers for about 10 minutes. Wait that's wrong. We saw them. They just didn't seem to see us. After about 10 minutes I actually started looking around to see if there was someplace else that we should go to have brunch, but that's when someone came over to help us. We ordered bloody Mary's and breakfast (biscuits and gravy and salmon avocado toast on gluten free toast) and while the food was good, the price just didn't match the whole experience. The waitresses never really came back over to us until we waived them over asking for the things that we needed. We were so disappointed in our New Year's Eve dinner. We had a 7:00 PM reservation and were seated early at 6:50 PM, and at the end of the night my card wasn't scanned until 9:17 PM. A total time of 2 1/2 hours for an app, soup, Brussels sprouts, and a main entrée. It seemed like there were issues with the kitchen, as the food took forever at every stage. We were left unattended with dishes on the table for long periods our time. Unfortunately, our server wasn't great either, which only added to the frustration. She couldn't multitask and neglected our table and the two others around us. It was ridiculous. That said, the food itself was good, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. While we were in no hurry and staying in the hotel it was unacceptable. The overall experience fell far short of what we hoped for on NYE. The She Crab Soup, Linguine Dolote, and Butterscotch Crème Brûlée were all good! read more

Ambiance!!! We found the Keep while in Columbus for a conference. The Hotel where the restaurant is was right across the street from our hotel. I was tasked with finding a spot for a group dinner and decided to the give The Keep a try. What can I say, we loved the place, and we loved it so much our group ate there more than once and afterwards members of group borught more people there for dinner and drinks. The menu is simple but covers a good array of food that almost anyone can enjoy. The wine list is extensive, and so is their collection of liqueurs, spirits and beer. We had a great time, great meals and of course we all were very happy with our drinks. When we return to the area, I'm sure everyone in our group will come back to The Keep. read more

We were so excited to come here as we got married at the Leveque Tower and were celebrating our anniversary at the restaurant, which did the food for our reception. It wasn't terribly busy when we came but our server was rather distracted. She seemed to be spending more time bussing tables than actually checking in with us on anything. When the appetizer came out we had no plates for it, and we had very long gaps without being checked on. The food was good, if the portions were small. The steak frites has a lot of fries with it, not much steak. I liked the smoked Gouda we ordered for the app as well. Beautiful restaurant and building, it's too bad the service was lacking as it was sort of spoiling the effect on a special day for us. read more

Having previously eaten at this swanky location I felt confident setting a reservation an hour and a half before our show time. We showed up ten minutes early to check in, and once greeted we were told specifically our table would be ready in six minutes and we promptly moved out of the way of the main restaurant thoroughfare. That was a mistake. Despite check ins they started seating based on arrival at the host stand. After two managers passed us and promised to "be back soon", I got to re-live my management days because the lack of communication meant they tried to seat an already sat six top, two times. And somehow it got worse when we finally got to our table. After an hour and fifteen minutes in the building with others receiving the full service of appetizers, dinner, and checks before we ever got a plate of food. Based on the front door experience we ordered our drinks and appetizers, as well as dinner the moment we got the chance, asking our server to please ring in our drinks and fondue appetizer, and then promptly put in our dinner order because one of my guests eats cooked meat instead of the blue steaks I saw served all night. I have never in my life walked out on almost 200 dollars worth of food, but as I never received a plate, I thought it was kind of my mother to pay some money towards the one round of drinks we received. read more

The decor and ambiance of this restaurant has so much history and we loved it. Located in the Leveque tower, there are a lot of beautiful small details, especially around the door frames and elevators. We had a reservation, which I would recommend and were seated immediately. We decided on a couple cocktails which were very well made.  We ordered mussels as an appetizer and it was our favorite dish of the night, so much flavor! The short rib with Mac and cheese were good and we also enjoyed the Brussel sprouts. For dessert we had the butterscotch Creme brulee which was delicious. With great decor, service, food and drinks I would recommend trying this location, especially for a date night or special occasion. read more

The short review is that this place is gorgeous but the food and service was really underwhelming. Drinks- delicious! I loved my French 75 with rosé and the espresso martini was good as well. Appetizers- Brussel sprouts were delicious, smoked gouda mac was good as well. French onion soup was on the salty side for me. I got a chicken caesar salad because they were out of the two things I wanted, the mussels and the ravioli. The chicken, despite being very thin, was still somehow undercooked. I would have mentioned it if our waitress came over to ask (everyone was completely out of water, incorrect utensils, etc.) but she clearly had too many tables to take care of in her section. Steak frites was really, really, REALLY salty. like almost unbearable. Ordered medium rare and honestly don't mind pretty pink but there were sections where the only cooked part was the outside and it was completely raw. Extremely disappointed with my experience. We came on a Tuesday night and it wasn't remotely busy, but our waitress left us unattended for long periods of time and seemed to just be roaming around not helping any of her tables. Along with that the food took an eternity. I ordered a soup and salad and it took over an hour to come out. I could see my salad sitting on the counter ready to be run out for over 20 minutes before actually receiving it. We arrived early for our reservation and still managed to miss our post dinner show because every staff member seemed to be moving at a glacial pace. On top of all of that there were a ton of gnats flying around. Will not be returning, which is unfortunate because the ambiance in the restaurant is lovely. read more

It has been about 7 years since we last visited. At the time, the menu was very French and I thought somewhat inaccessible. We also didn't have the greatest service that first time we visited. Fast forward to 2025 and we decided to give it another try ahead of catching a show at the Riffe Center afterwards. We were pleasantly surprised to see the menu had been streamlined and simplified. Unfortunately, the food and beverage were subpar. Food wise, one in our party ordered the chicken sandwich and she said it was really tough. Another ordered the short ribs and found it lacking any flavor. I ordered a simple Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. The shrimp were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The salad was barely dressed and lacked flavor. I also had a side of Gouda Mac and cheese. The top of the Mac and cheese were simply cooked noodles with bread crumbs. There was no cheese until you got to the bottom of the ramekin. It lacked flavor and needed seasoning. Lastly my old fashioned was a huge disappointment, really not having been mixed well and also not the delicious classic cocktail that it should have been. This is such a nice spot and has great ambiance. It is a shame there isn't a better dining option in this spot given the location. read more

My better half and I headed to the Keep last night for dinner. Let's start with the positives. My man got the raspberry old-fashioned. I had the lemon drop that had a hint of lavender. Really good and unique cocktails.Great work bartenders. The French onion soup was outstanding. The waiter said it has just Swiss but it tasted like Gruyère and Swiss but the waiter is the boss. I would put this French onion soup against any French restaurant in NYC. This is a must and then, things went south. I should have just gotten the check. My scallops with the pork belly was not good. Overcooked. Lacked flavor. My heart sank. Then my man got the short rib with Mac and cheese. Much better than mine. However, the short rib was dry. Two glasses of Smith and Hook saved the day. But I left hungry. The scallop dish and the dry short rib were not good. You can do better, folks. Next time I'll just do the French onion and the Steak and Frites, which is their forte'. And take the leftovers home for steak and eggs in the morning. I believe in you, the Keep. Hoping it was just a bad night. read more

Ordered room service while waiting to catch a show across at Ohio Theater. I must have missed the note about automatic gratuity charge. I was ready to hand over cash tip when I realized while signing the receipt that there was 18 or 20% (I didn't look closely) gratuity included. It could have been an awkward situation had I handed over the extra cash.. Anyway, this was not part of the deciding factor in this review. Ordered the brussel sprouts, burger cooked medium with fries, and sweet peas ravioli. The burger and fries were good. No complaints there. Brussel sprouts were okay; nothing special. It was the ravioli that was the most dissappointing. It came a bit cold, and the sweet peas fillings were a bit undercooked. I was glad it didn't come with any undercooked protein. It's a room service at a nice hotel, so I undrrstand that the price will be slightly more expensive than normal. But I still felt that it could have been better. read more

You never know what you're going to get at hotel restaurant, but The Keep was a pretty cute little spot. It's got a modern rustic vibe and our waitress was lovely. It is pretty small inside and so the tables are pretty close together. You feel rather close the diners next to you. The drinks are priceyyy but the food is actually very well priced, so I guess it evens out. I had a glass of red wine and my friend had a cosmopolitan which she said was strong but delicious. We both started with a bowl of French onion soup which was top notch! We then split a Cesar salad, which was exactly how I like mine, a lot of cheese and the croutons were home made and very tasty. Lastly, we split the spicy chicken sandwich, which was good, but sadly my fries came out Luke warm at best. read more

The waiter was good, but the food was not. Fries came out cold and we had to ask for a new batch. The short rib and Mac and cheese were bland. The burger was nothing memorable. Drinks were good. However, they reported us as a no-show on open table. When we moved to the bar, I ordered a bottle of wine and asked for two glasses. The bartender refused to give me stems and would only give me stemless glasses. When I pay $70 for a $20 bottle of wine, I at least expect to be able to drink from a real wine glass. read more

We came here as a very small wedding dinner (about 12 of us) and they set up the table nicely and it was nice and quiet with great service. We ordered various things but for some reason the things I remember quite well are the sticky short ribs (yum!), the fries, and the dumplings. The short ribs were so good. But even better is when you take the fries and dip it into the short rib sauce. I highly recommend it! As for the main course, I got the pork chop and that was delicious as well. The service was great and the ambiance was very cool. The place is in a hotel and if you go during the weekend, parking will be relatively easy as there is no one downtown during the weekend. read more

The location is romantic and historic, making it a fun evening in itself but it is conveniently right in the middle of downtown. Well well well, here we are again - welcome. You are probably reading this five star review and wondering how that's even possible for a hotel bar/restaurant. You are as surprised as I am - this is the first type of review on my account so it's pretty great. Each and every step of our meal from the entrance to the exit was superb. The wait staff was super friendly, the manager was top notch, and all of the recommended items were delicious. We came here since they posted on instagram that they extended their restaurant week offerings, and if there is steak on the menu for restaurant week, then I am there! The ambiance is really unique with the gas lit candelabras on the walls to the open service station. We watched each part of our meal created with an excellent chef at the helm. The appetizers were really nice - we got the 1/2 charcuterie board and the pimento cheese bread. The cheeses and meats were excellent and the pimento cheese bread was bomb. I ended up getting the steak frites and everything was cooked perfectly to order. The tea brined chicken was super moist and the skin was thin and crispy. Everything that came out was above par and our waiter was very attentive throughout the evening. The boys even got some super fancy shirley temples built for them and they loved it! We will definitely be coming back to lounge in their bar in the cool leather couches. Great job Keep! read more

I went to the Keep for the first time about a week ago. It was not very busy but we had a reservation so we were seated immediately. The restaurant is in an old hotel downtown Columbus and has a beautiful venue. My friend and I both ordered a drink, I got the Raspberry Mule, High Bank Distillery Vodka, St. George's Raspberry, Barritt's Ginger Beer, fresh lime juice. My friend got the Classic Paloma, Casamigos Blanco, pamplemousse, fresh lime juice, Jarrito's Grapefruit. We both tried the $2 Oysters that are on special on Wednesdays and it was NOT FOR ME at all. The waiter was very cool about us not loving them and brought us some free bread to get the taste out of our mouths. For my main entree, I got the Crispy Chicken Sandwich with shredded lettuce, aioli, honey hot sauce on brioche. It was AMAZING! I would go back for that sandwich alone and the fries so so good. Next time I come I want to come Mon - Friday 8:30pm - close for 1/2 off wine bottles. Sounds amazing! I stayed at the Leveque hotel and ordered room service from the Keep. The food came quick. The potatoes were really good and well seasoned. The fruit also tasted super fresh. So, it went downhill when I cut into my French toast. It was so soggy. How do you mess up French toast? I was able to eat the bottom one, because that one was cooked all the way through. It comes with three whole pieces so it's a huge portion. They were super nice about it when I called and they made sure to make things right. That's a plus on their end. Great customer service! The short rib hash was okay. Thought it would be more exciting looking. Overall, it was an okay experience. Probably wouldn't go there for breakfast, but would try their lunch/dinner menu. read more

This has become one of our favorite downtown spots. The room itself looks like it was original to the Art Deco design of the Leveque tower although it is new. We ate here during restaurant week and the special menu was amazing. The vegetable dumplings were cooked perfectly in a light savory sauce. The chicken and cauliflower skewers were spicy and plated beautifully. And the lemon tart dessert was like something you'd find in a French restaurant. Oh, and great cocktails! The last few times here, their wait staff has been exceptionally friendly and attentive - they have really stepped up their game. If you are in town for a show or event at the Palace, Ohio Theater or Columbus Commons, stopping here for dinner before or after is a no brainer! read more

This review is for the Bar only, I haven't not visited the restaurant. In my most recent visit I popped into the bar for an old fashioned - I get these frequently so as soon as I saw it delivered I had a feeling it was gonna be bad. And it was. Very far away from an old fashioned. I had previously been warned that they don't do bourbon drinks well, but wanted to see for myself. It was entirely not drinkable and since I'd been warned, I just didn't even try again. The bartender was very nice, but does not know how to do an old fashioned. Day two of my stay, popped into the bar again to get some drinks with friends and a couple to go for another friend group in the hotel. The bartender was not friendly at all to begin with, it seemed like we interrupted her wiping off tables. We ordered 4 spicy margaritas and a French 75 to go but received 4 strawberry margaritas and a Rosé French 75. She was visibly perturbed even though it was not our mistake, and slowly went about remaking them all. When we got to the room, one of the new drinks had a bug in it - which I'm sure was just coincidence, but nonetheless / the bartender was HORRIBLE. Even when we asked for some silverware she acted like the world was ending and sent us to the restaurant. Long story short, highly DO NOT recommend The Keep Bar if you want quality cocktails and customer service you'd expect for the price you pay to stay there. read more
