This review is for the Bar only, I haven't not visited the restaurant. In my most recent visit I popped into the bar for an old fashioned - I get these frequently so as soon as I saw it delivered I had a feeling it was gonna be bad. And it was. Very far away from an old fashioned. I had previously been warned that they don't do bourbon drinks well, but wanted to see for myself. It was entirely not drinkable and since I'd been warned, I just didn't even try again. The bartender was very nice, but does not know how to do an old fashioned. Day two of my stay, popped into the bar again to get some drinks with friends and a couple to go for another friend group in the hotel. The bartender was not friendly at all to begin with, it seemed like we interrupted her wiping off tables. We ordered 4 spicy margaritas and a French 75 to go but received 4 strawberry margaritas and a Rosé French 75. She was visibly perturbed even though it was not our mistake, and slowly went about remaking them all. When we got to the room, one of the new drinks had a bug in it - which I'm sure was just coincidence, but nonetheless / the bartender was HORRIBLE. Even when we asked for some silverware she acted like the world was ending and sent us to the restaurant. Long story short, highly DO NOT recommend The Keep Bar if you want quality cocktails and customer service you'd expect for the price you pay to stay there. read more

On the second floor of the stunning Hotel Leveque, the Keep is a perfect spot for drinks after a show at the Palace Theater. Looking forward to trying the menu sometime! I saw great things about this place on Yelp and instagram and decided to try it for myself. My boyfriend and I made a reservation for a Friday night, date night. The restaurant is on the second floor of a hotel in downtown Columbus. The inside is decorated beautifully and there is an open-kitchen concept. You can see the chefs cooking in the center of the restaurant. Everyone was extremely friendly and our waitress helped direct us to the best dishes on the menu. Everything sounded so delicious we couldn't decide! Of course we got the half charcuterie board, because who could resist a good cheese board for an app? It was delicious and the perfect size for two people. I got the steak frites and my boyfriend got the meatloaf. Both were amazing! My boyfriend and I like to share our entrees with each other because this way we get to taste different foods! We both decided that we actually liked the meatloaf more than the steak. For dessert we got their infamous milk and cookies. A warm cookie was put into a skillet and topped with vanilla ice cream and it was heavily. I wish though that the cookie had been baked in the skillet, instead of placed into it after, but still good. Overall, this place is perfect for a date night! read more

Wouldn't go back. Went with a group of girls before our show at the Ohio Theater. Our waiter told us there was only one bartender for the whole night on a Saturday night, which is why our drinks would take awhile (about 30 min). They were either quite understaffed or our waiter was just extremely frazzled as multiple other parties in his section were frustrated, some got up and left before their food came. Food was mediocre, especially for the price. Cute atmosphere and vibe, but unfortunately quite disappointing overall. read more

We were hoping for a romantic and chill spot, but all we could hear was a group of shrieking drunk people at the bar. Like stumbling kind of drunk. Definitely killed the mood on date night. First off Hotel is awesome! I do not recommend The Keep. We stopped for a snack and some drinks. First bad sign was the bulb on the lamp at our bar seat was occillating and gave me a headache until I turned it off. Bartender seemed annoyed we were there despite only three other customers. We ordered the 26 dollar charcuterie touting local and imported meats and cheeses. We had one mild cheese and two lunch meats and a whole lot of crunchy bread and fruit. Guessing that cost them about 2 bucks. The customer beside us ordered the Philly with no horseradish due to allergy. It came out dry with no cheese but extra horseradish. I went with a friend for a nice dinner. I know hotel restaurants can be sort of hit and miss but Leveque hotel is supposed to be a nice hotel so I had high hopes for the restaurant. The good things were the mussels we had for an appetizer and I had the French onion soup which wasn't too bad. However, the cocktails were weak. My friend had the pork belly scallops. She said the pork belly was way over cooked and the scallops were slightly under cooked. The Parmesan risotto was cooked barley. It was not Arborio rice or creamy. It was just plain cooked barley. I had the steak frites. The steak was overcooked and incredibly salty. I even like my food on the salty side but this was burn your tongue salty. The fries were barely warm. Came here for restaurant week 2019. The restaurant overall is very friendly, and I love the look of the hotel connected. The service was good for the most part, but the staff felt overwhelmed by the rush with their restaurant week special. This offer was on the high end of most of the new offerings. Wonderful dining experience in downtown Columbus. We went before our show at The Palace. Hubby and I shared the house salad and steak frites. We also ordered bread which came with a delicious dipping sauce of olive oil and crushed tomatoes and seasoning. The steak was tender you could cut it with a fork. Fries were thin and tasty. The dipping sauce which came with the meal was amazing! Not sure what the flavor was but it was yummy! Then text confirmation was for 30 min earlier, called again, sorted out. Trying to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt, it'd been a year, but still worth a mention. Anyway, wine, appetizer, entre was all served in good time. Nice pace. Wasn't pushed us along, so great. Very exquisite dishes for every appetite! Went here for NYE. Make sure you have a reservation. Very romantic spot and easy to get to if you are staying a the Hotel attached to it. The drinks and braised lamb appetizer was amazing. Definitely recommend for a special evening. read more

We had a great experience here, although, I'm giving 4 stars only because I think you can get an even better experience at other places in Cbus for equal if not less the price. That being said. Our server was kind and attentive. We asked for a fireball shot for my birthday, which they didn't have. The bartender instead made a special shot just for us that we all loved! The ambience and decor are beautiful and romantic. I love how they have the kitchen in the center so you can watch the chefs work. And the bar is just on the other side of the restaurant where you can go for a night cap after your meal. They have regular bar stools but also lounge areas which is a nice touch. A dark, romantic type vibe. I sort of got the impression we were a bother to the bartender, but maybe just me? ‍ The brussels sprouts appetizer is a MUST. Delicious and fun experience. Jimmy did a great job as a server. He was really attentive and friendly/made small talk. I love the decor. It was trendy and cozy. We spent a few hours having drinks and trying different menu items. They have an open kitchen concept where the kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant and you can sit around the kitchen area and watch them cook. (The restaurant smells great!) We started with a bottle of rosé. They have a large wine, beer and cocktail list. We each had the french onion soup and shared the creole shrimp cocktail and bread. The french onion soup is made with a beef broth, which makes it super hearty and delicious! The dipping sauce for the bread was roasted red peppers and olive oil. Yum! and the shrimp was seasoned nicely and served on dry ice. We also split the steak frites, which they split for us. The steak was cooked perfectly. THE KEEP is Hotel LeVeque's on-site modern French Brasserie is not only the perfect dinner spot when staying at the hotel but it's perfect for a romantic night out even when not staying there (although you'll wish you were). The signature cocktails accompany the French and American-inspired menu perfectly. If you're big into cocktails, the server can easily match a dish to pair perfectly with your drink or the vice versa. Our server had some amazing suggestions to make a perfect meal pairing. With an open kitchen, it's easy to sit back and get caught in the hustle and bustle of the servers and cooks. We could almost imagine being on the set the Gordon Ramsey TV show Hell's Kitchen just without all the screaming and yelling. We started with some oysters and then after we ordered Chef Jonathan took a moment to come visit our table and talk about our selections. Due to a limited theater menu, which we weren't expecting, he sent out a few surprise dishes so we would have the opportunity to experience a range of what THE KEEP offers. Soon we got a few appetizers to try which we included the squash fries, octopus piri piri and stuffed dates - all insanely delicious. One dish not to miss is pan fried Saddleberk Pork. I ordered the steak frites which was good but nothing special and my husband ordered the Saddleberk pork and I had major dinner envy. Honestly, I could not keep my fork off his plate. The restaurant review is based on breakfast, we had a group of 11 so I was able to try a few things. The standard breakfast with eggs, bacon, toast and potatoes was great. Pretty standard and hard to mess up. The group had two different folks order strawberry pancakes and both people didn't like them, two or three bites and pushed the plate to the side, mushy, wet, weird artificial strawberry flavor. The salmon toast on the menu sounds like it's smoked salmon and Avocado but seemed like left over salmon filet broken up and sprinkled over avocado past topped with an egg. It was ok to good. The biscuits and house made gravy was excellent, make sure to ask for extra sausage gravy, it was a small portion over two big biscuits so the end was a bit dry. For a delectable fancy cocktail, this is the hottest spot in Columbus!! Located in the historic Leveque Tower, which is some of the finest architecture in town, the Keep offers an intimate setting that is perfect for a romantic cocktail experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior of the Keep. I expected it to be small and feel like a hotel bar but that is not the case by far! The interior is narrow but long and offers a wide variety of seating options for the couple or the larger group. It is absolutely fantastic! The staff make the atmosphere even more warm and inviting. Everyone had bright smiles and a good attitude, which was a welcome change from the bad service we received when trying to get cocktails at South Village Grill. Remember, I did say this place was fancy so the cocktails come with those NYC price tags. My front street fizz was $12. We did not get the small plates but they had a lot of interesting options so I am looking forward to checking them out in the future. The Keep is the perfect place to stop for a drink before seeing a show at the Palace Theater and an even better place to have a romantic evening. I came to the Keep on a weeknight for dinner with a few girlfriends. It's located inside the Hotel Leveque (which, by the way, is an awesome hotel and I really recommend the hotel itself)! Unfortunately the Keep did fall a little short for me when I weighed the quality of the food against the prices. Alcoholic drinks were super pricey, and I was a little underwhelmed with my meal. I ordered the steak frites medium rare, which seems to be one of their most popular dishes. I wish I had taken a photo, but the steak came out cooked medium well. There wasn't any pink whatsoever in the meat. I was surprised a chef would feel comfortable serving it to someone because you could clearly tell by looking at it that it wasn't cooked how I asked, lol! That being said, it was actually still delicious and had great flavor. The truffle fries were amazing too, not sure what the dip was that came with them but some kind of aioli, and I could have eaten tons of the fries. So, meh. Not bad but not good. Ultimately this is a totally fine place to come if you're staying at the hotel and you want something easy, but I wouldn't recommend coming to the Keep as a destination. There is far better food to be found in the city for these types of prices. read more

A hidden gem of Columbus. This place is beautiful, romantic, historical, and omg just to emphasize again - romantic. I was taken here by my fiancé on the night he proposed and it really could not have been a more perfect night. Everything we ordered tasted amazing (especially that fall apart tender hoisin pork belly ugh), the photos from the night turned out SO beautiful, and the ambience/mood was perfection. If you live in Columbus and are in the mood for a date night, come here. Take the risk! It is absolutely worth a visit. High quality food, passionate chefs, and a hauntingly beautiful hotel. I can see why this place has some lower ratings, but my experience here 2x + plus 1 room service was almost flawless each time. When they screwed up, they owned it and free stuff flowed. I loved the foie gras torchon jar, The Burger was one of the best I've had in a while, maybe my lucky night, and the cook was not hung over. I can confidently give this place a solid 4 stars. The Keep is a lovely little bar in the Hotel LeVeque. The hotel was going through some construction so we had to walk through some unfinished areas to get to it. But once inside, it is quite interesting. Dark wood everywhere. Lots of areas for private conversation. A great date spot. The cocktails here are fabulous. They currently offer a very small food menu when we visited, but were told that the restaurant with a full menu is forthcoming. I am looking forward to visiting again once the full restaurant is open. read more

Went here to celebrate Mother's Day & my friends graduation, & I was disappointed at the food and the service. We came with the intentions of having brunch, but they were only serving their Mother's Day menu. They never informed us that this would be the case after reaching out multiple times to confirm our Sunday morning reservations. Who wants to eat dinner at 11:30am?? I opted for the trout with the purple rice. The trout was decent but not memorable. I couldn't even finish the rice because it was bland and tasteless. There were three other people who tried the rosemary chicken they had on the menu and they all seemed to enjoy it. Overall though, I don't think I will ever be back. read more

My husband and I had dinner at The Keep before attending Hadestown at the Ohio Theater. The restaurant is just a quick walk from the theater and is located in the beautiful Leveque Tower. We were greeted and seated and promptly at the time of our reservation. The atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable and the staff were amazing. We had the hush puppies, the meatloaf, the ribeye, and the pumpkin beignets. The food was delicious! It was probably one of the best steaks I have ever had and the mashed potatoes were to die for. The beignets were even served in a paper bag. The pumpkin flavor wasn't exceptionally strong and the caramel sauce really put it over the top- so good! We were a bit rushed as we had only made these plans that day and had to hurry to the show but I would love to go back sometime when I could really relax and enjoy. read more

We were pretty excited to try this place. In the Laveque Tower, we had high hopes. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor. While it has the guts to be a class act it was so disappointing. I made reservations and requested a window seat. The place was not busy but we were seated at a table for two at an apex. The menu was limited, not sure if it was because it was Valentines Day or not. Either way, the well done burger was pink inside of both burgers. The french dip had a nice bun but the meat tasted fatty and the dip was greasy. The sandwich had mayo, cheese, and pickled onions on it. The fries were skinny and reminded me of fair fries, which I love. However, there was so much salt and seasoning on them they were not even edible. We asked for the bar menu, but no bartender so it was limited to beer and wine which we decided to pass. Our waiter was nice enough but we never got refills on our soda or water. We will probably never eat here again. The prices were reasonable for the venue but the food was very disappointing. We will probably go try the bar, first come first serve, sometime. Calamari was an awful heap of dark brown salty nuggets. Scallops were OK. The Keep Burger was impressive but too salty served with even saltier fries. This was the Sunday before Memorial Day. Food options for the restaurant side of The Keep was mediocre at best. The bar side of The Keep had better options. Not sure why they wouldn't offer the same menu for each side of the restaurant. The service was slow, too. Had 6:15 reservations for a show at the Palace right next door at 8pm. We didn't get out of the restaurant until 7:50. That's after the waiter took our CC to cash us out at 7:25pm but continued to do the same for the other tables and left us sitting there watching the clock. (and we only had salads.) Won't be coming back even if we stay at the hotel again. read more
