We had a great breakfast today. I love the open botanical feel of the space. I had seen the circular croissants online but didn't see any in the case. So we pivoted and got the breakfast items. Update July 2025 4 to a strong 4.5 Easily being promoted to one of my favorite places in cbus. Attended a bubbly wine class with Rich, super fun. Opened my mind to bubbly, learned a lot and met some cool people. Most recently stopped in for wine Wednesday. Grabbed a smashburger, tiny tini (the olive) and some wine. Smashburger- good. The sauce was really tangy/pickley added ketchup to balance it out for my liking. Fries fire! Cocktail-The olive- not my thing, was trying something new since I'm coming around to olives, but no. Speaking objectively it felt like it was well balanced but I could still taste too much of the olive food my preference. I'm late writing this and they now have a dinner and new drink menu, so I'm overdue for a visit back :). Super cute.  Amazing customer service. Special shoutout to Jeff, Syn? And Marco who took care of us in some capacity. Drinks-  collins angel hot latte 5/5 and a matcha latte (Collins angel version) 4/5 Food- egg sandwich w/ bacon- soft bread,  thick bacon,  moist. 5/5 and vermonter- turkey apple and cheese pastry. 4/5 flaky,  good filling.  Not the biggest fan of the sesame seeds. Being from NJ, I am not used to slow service like this, and I am not saying this as a negative, it just took a while to order because the guy at the counter was getting everyone's life story (He was very entertaining). Another really lovely dinner at Parable! Caesar salad is a little heavy on anchovy but I love it that way- just a warning in case you don't prefer that. Best time to come for dinner is during happy hour for $10 wine pours, super generous and interesting wines. We had the Burger, fried chicken sandwich, and the cauliflower Reuben. All were delicious but actually the cauliflower Reuben really stuck out to me- super delicious and flavorful, not something I would have ordered initially but after tasting my friend's I would definitely order. Really inventive and creative drinks at Parable. This downtown gem is a bit hard to get to. We only found paid parking right next to it but from other reviews saw you could get a parking voucher from a garage nearby. What I noticed right away were the locals working, reading, and others at the bar enjoying a drink. It was a very lively space which is always a good sign. Pretty simple decor and had a cool minimalist style. The person helping us was great and so friendly. They helped us with our drinks and we ended up getting the Amma's Chai and the Koyo. They asked us if we were visiting and we had a short chat about Sey Coffee in Brooklyn. I was so intrigued by the Koyo as it had gochuang listed in the ingredients. This place seems to be a higher end cafe. I went on Sunday at 10:00am and every seat was filled. Great unique pastry options and nice lattes. I like that the sesame miso latte was not too sweet and has subtle flavors that hit just right. The prices were high but the quality matched. $40 for a cappuccino, latte, 2 pastries. I loved it and would go back. Must note the men's room being Overtly progressive, the only time I have actually seen female sanitary pads in a bathroom marked "men's". The coffee was decent and the croissants are very nice. So if you're downtown already and need a fix, this is a great option. For me, the space is kind of a nightmare. It's tall and echo-y, and they play music pretty loud, so instead of a nice mellow morning vibe, it felt like a Short North bar at 8:30 in the morning. The pastries were mouthwateringly good. They were soft, sweet, and creamy. The service is fast, friendly, and warm. They pick pastries to fit the flavors and pallet you've got at the time. Decided to try the nearest cafe next to my hotel and was not disappointed. Good selection of pastries and drinks. Decent seating. Helpful staff. I got the iced vanilla latte it was really good and well balanced between espresso flavor and their house made vanilla syrup. I also ordered their leek cheese croissant. I was here twice during my trip in Columbus. The first time I went there at 10 something. There was already a long line and a lot of pastries was already sold out. They have a lot of different unique lattes. I got the onion and mushroom danish and wham bam thank you yam to go. All of the tables were filled. The mushroom danish cheese was very good. The outside is flaky and rich like a croissant. The latte was very good just the right amount of sweetness of the yam. The second time, I went there extra early I ordered the pistachio croissant and the sesame miso caramel latte. This time there was a lot of empty tables. I got to sat down and enjoy. The staff is super nice and if you are eating there,they would bring the drinks to your table. The cafe is beautiful and clean. It have lots of plants all over the cafe. Expensive but worth. I tried the "6 more weeks of winter" seasonal drink, a sipping chocolate with banana, sesame, and ruby chocolate. The ingredients were high quality and the drink was very smooth. I have friend who has been doing the marketing for cafe and bakeries around Columbus lately. Decided to give this place a try aside from my regular spots... you guys this place is so cute!! Really loved it from the moment I walked in. From the ceiling design to the lighting fixtures and to the full length windows this place has all the vibes! When I got there, I was greeted promptly and nicely. The coffees took a little longer than usual for a cafe but the presentation was super cute. I had a cheesy scone and a cortado, not much left for baked goods at 3:30 on the afternoon so I will definitely be back. Lots of options for types of seating; lounge, high bar top, table and chairs, and of course the bar top. Others were either working on their computers, meeting with friends or co-working. It's pretty open space so sound does bounce, but I didn't think it was too loud or disruptive. They had a cute glass fireplace in the center. Lots of plants hanging around. Absolutely love Parable!! My friend and I came in on a Saturday morning and the place was decently packed but were able to find a table. When you walk in you can order and then find a table to sit and they will bring your drinks to the table. There is a good amount of indoor seating, as well as bar seating! I got a drink from their winter seasonal menu and if you like ginger I highly recommend it! It was called oh snap! ginger cap! And was so yummy. They have oatmilk as their only non dairy milk. My friend got their masala chai latte and really enjoyed it as well. We also got a pistachio croissant that was so delicious!! it was a bit on the sweet side so just keep that in mind, but I'd suggest it if you're looking for a pastry! I have returned from my hiatus to speak on behalf of parable (again). Pastries just wake me up like nothing else. I say that but every time I try to get to parable "early" (i.e., before 10am), I fail to do so ;'( But it's ok! These days there are still goodie pastries available for the sleepy birbs (hurrah) Unfortunately, my gastrointestinal system did not hunger at that hour of the morn, so the spinach artichoke danish was a bit of an underwhelming experience, even though the danish was freshly toasted ;'( I liked the chip though (cronch). Otherwise, it kind of gave artichoke dip but served in a pastry vessel instead of a plastic container. I enjoyed the honey grapefruit brûlée circle croissant and guava cream cheese pastelito more. Neither were too sweet and both had nice crispity crunchities! Service was very thoughtful as well! Whenever staff brought pastries to someone's table, they'd always ask if the person would like a fork and would then go run and grab one. I personally prefer to go feral on my food with my fingers but the gesture seemed very kind. Also, I'm pretty sure the entire album of The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess was played. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. The prices are a bit high but the coffee and the ambiance were worth it for us. They don't accept tips if that helps in making your decision to give them a try. The coffee flavors are very unique and are perfectly balanced. Both the atmosphere and the coffee are high octane. This is a full on PNW style hipster coffee bar experience. I loved all of the plants, the high ceilings and the big windows. It was extremely loud, so not a place I would want to hang out, chill and/or chat over coffee. They do have a full bar after 5 pm and all kinds of unique pastry options in the case. I think the atmosphere was better suited for a bar than a coffee shop. The lattes are VERY espresso forward. I did not enjoy my coffee at all. It was supposed to be a summer special strawberry latte. It had no strawberry flavor. It just tasted like burnt strong coffee. Parking is street only and it is a no tipping business. That is factored into the cost of the food and beverages. After seeing all their baked goods all over I figured I'd finally try my shot at getting some. Unfortunately, got here too late to get any fancy croissants so word of advice, get here EARLY! 10am is not early haha There was quite a line to order on a Saturday morning and it moved quite slow. However, staff came out to offer some cookies and cold brew to those waiting. That was a very nice touch and much appreciated. I ended up ordering the sesame miso caramel latte along with a strawberry matcha scone. I thought the baked goods were great, not overly sweet and flavors came through pretty well. The latte wasn't super memorable to me and for ~$10 I don't think it was worth it but it was an interesting combo of flavors. I would've appreciated getting the tea bag so I could ask for more hot water, but I didn't ask, and we weren't there long. The rosemary scone was delicious. The texture and crumble were great. What can I say about a coffee shop that has delicious pastries and turns into a jazz house at night? Nothing, it's my type of vibe! The plants and open air layout encourages connection. While the baristas are stylish and talented in their own right. Drinks will run from $6-15 if looking for the alcoholic persuasion and the pastries always run out by Noon so catch them while you can. A coffee shop after dark is the perfect alternative to those PBR filled nights that are typical in a college town, so I appreciate the opportunity to practice my 'adulting' in public. I came to Parable for my first time on a Saturday and it was very busy! The parking is a little difficult as they don't have a parking lot or designated parking, but it wasn't too bad finding a spot on the street. My first impression was that the inside/vibe was so cute!!! When I came in the line wasn't too long but we ended up waiting for a veryyyy long time, almost 30 minutes just to order.... Not sure what was taking so long since the line wasn't that big. Luckily we were able to find a table after ordering. They do offer a lot of seating, but it seems to fill up fast! I got the U Down with RPP? latte and my friend got an iced matcha. Both drinks were delicious and didn't take too long to come out after ordering. I also loved the latte art! Cute little shop. Like that it doubles as a coffee shop and lounge bar. It is very cozy feeling even though it is right on High Street. Lots of natural light. It's a bit interesting how you order. You order at the desk when you walk into the place but I find the menu a bit confusing. So did the group on front of us who took forever to order. Example- there is just not coffee, there are 7 different coffees all a little different. I suppose that is good to have choices but it can be overwhelming. The pastries are absolutely delicious. Baked to perfection I would say. They look beautiful. They taste even better!! The only reason for a 4 star and not a 5 star is the price. Two pastries and two coffees came out to almost $40. Went to Parable on recommendation from a friend. It's an easy walk from the convention center, and was easy to spot! I got the Cha Cha, which was a seasonal drink, and a caramelized onion and gruyere biscuit. The drink was really good! I just wish I would have gotten more for how much I paid for it. It was in a cup with mostly ice. However, the flavor was great! The biscuit was definitely one of the best things I've ever had! It was super soft, and savory! The service was pretty standard, nothing special, but nothing bad! I was able to knock out a few hours of work in the shop, as they had free wifi, and plenty of seating. We came on a Saturday around noon. Ordered and then found a seat while we waited for our drinks and food. We were lucky and snatched the last table. By the time we left around 12:40, there were a few tables open. Matcha with oat: uniform milk froth. Very creamy. Can taste the matcha. Wasn't too much or two little matcha. Nice ratio. Miso caramel latte with oat: just like the Matcha, the milk was uniformly frothed. The miso taste was very subtle so subtle. I wasn't sure if I was tasting it, but there was a nuttiness to it that I'm not sure if it's from the espresso beans or from the miso you can taste the caramel. Very nicely done latte. Egg sandwich: the sandwich was made on a very soft bun. Egg was soft and fluffy with melted cheese and mayo. There is also a little bit of horseradish to give it a nice little zing. Burrito: fries, eggs, cheese, guacamole, and sauce wrapped in a tortilla. This was good, but nothing really stood out. Toasted croissant: well toasted, very buttery, airy, and soft. Location: downtown. Street parking as well as parking lots. Atmosphere: exposed industrial ceiling painted in black but with cute gold light fixtures. There was plenty of natural light and you're surrounded but a bunch of different plants. There are many tables and one sofa area. Conclusion: this is a very nice coffee shop with food and pastries in a great location. If you are already downtown. This place is well suited for a catch up with friends/family or for working with headphones. Depending on how busy it is, it may not be the best for calls. I went here recently for a coffee with my partner, and she loves coffee. I wanted to check out this place as it had been shouted out by others in my insta feed. Parable is located within the First Financial bank building on High St. There are plants everywhere inside, and the seating is a mixture of tables, bar stools, and lounge pieces. Alcohol is served here as well. The service was great, and they bring the coffee to you directly. The coffee was great. My partner approved. I give 4 stars because each coffee was $8-9 for like an 8 Oz. Way too expensive for an Americano, IMO. Please cut 4 dollars, and I'll get the coffee from the counter myself. That being said, come here for the vibes and 'gram, but don't make it a daily habit. Too expensive. Can go to Stauf's, High Line, and plenty of other places for good coffee (unless you're particular about your coffee). read more

Gorgeous vibes, coffee, and humans. Everything here is just right. The staff are genuinely so excited to talk to you and help you make a good selection based on your preferences. I've never experienced even a hint of pretentiousness or judgment (good news for all of us socially anxious creatures out here)! All of the baked goods are out of this world. Most recently I had some sort of guava pastry. It was so light and flaky and flavorful, I literally let out a small scream when I first bit into it -- a scream of joy. Yes it's a little expensive but they do not have a tipping model and they also have a "pay what you can" policy that helps support community members with financial constraints. Can't wait to stop in for a cocktail or wine sometime. It looks like they're doing really cool stuff on that front. I just haven't been in to experience it yet (sad!). Go to Parable! Dark wood high tops, a variety of low tops (2, 4 and six tops) two big brown leather comfy sofas by a fireplace. High open ceilings, painted black with modern hanging light fixtures. There is a drop down valance covered in real plants. Very cool vibe. Super comfy seats. The coffee comes out. (They bring it to your table.) Beautiful art. Coffee piping hot. Very nice aroma. They bring me a cap with oatmilk, raw honey on the light side, cinnamon on too but just one and a half shakes of it. Nailed it. The server answers all my random questions. How did you do this so well with the cinnamon, where are the beans from, do u have sandwiches. The answers: cinnamon goes on before art (yep). The beans are from Cincinnati roasted for this location in a special espresso blend. The roaster is Deeper Roots, the blend Earth seed. You can buy take away bags for 16-17 bucks of it. Delish. I saw an online article praising this place so I decided to give it a try. I'm going to start off by saying that this is a good coffee shop, which is unfortunate in the sense that people want to try it but it's inconvenient to go to because it's in the middle of downtown with only paid street parking. That is if you can even find a parking spot. Don't even think about getting a quick to go joe. The cafe is decorated very nicely and elegantly. The music was a little loud, I could barely have a conversation. You can tell this place is very inclusive with women's feminine hygiene products in the men's restroom, which is nice for the people who need it. I have only had the coffee here, but they offer many other things, including alcohol. They have an okay general drink selection, with better seasonal menus. The drinks that I ordered were very good. One experience I had here I never had at any other cafe before. My eyes almost fell out when I saw the price of the drinks. $10 for a flavored latte. I don't believe the register asked for a tip, so they must include it in the pricing in order to pay a fair wage. That is nice for the employees but damaging to the customer. Although the flavors were good, I can't say that I will ever be able to justify paying this much for a coffee. If you have the finances and are good at parallel parking, I'd recommend trying this place out. Edit: The owner reached out to me to verify that the pricing was due to in-house made ingredients and fair wages for employees. They also notified me of a nearby parking garage that they validate. I appreciate their timely response and deep concern for their establishment and reputation. I maintain my four-star rating until I can experience this place more. read more
