Frenchi's was on my list to go to. I was in the area and decided to give it a try. This is a small spot, meant more as a order and take to go place. The service made this experience memorable. The gentleman working asked me if it was my first time. He made some recommendations. They were out of corned beef for the #3 The Eiffel Tower so he substituted bacon for me instead. I liked that the buns are smooshed flat, the meat and cheese heated and melted, and then the additional toppings diced up into smaller pieces. I had about a 20 minute drive that could have made the difference, but once I started eating the sandwich it was good but aa bit chewy. It might have been less chewy if I would have ate it right away. I also ordered the specialty croissant. The staff person asked me if I was okay with the price, it was $8. I appreciated he let me know the price and made sure I still wanted it as it was a bit pricey. The croissant was amazing! This was also a food that was better ate day of. I had it the next morning for breakfast and although it was delicious you could tell it was getting stale already. It was beautifully made. I have reviewed multiple sandwiches, but by far this sandwich was one of the best that I've had. The owner asked me what I wanted. He took the time to hand chop my toppings, which is something I've never seen done on a sandwich before it's actually a genius idea you get a bite of everything and not having to worry about Hughes chunks of lettuce or tomato when eating. He took his time to graciously wrap, grill and paper my sandwich. The ambience was a simple restaurant nothing too fancy but the quality of service outshines everything else. The price of the sandwich was about $12 which I can't complain about because if I would've went to a chain, I would've spent that much if not more and the quality was nowhere near to be found. read more

So the subs looked and smelled amazing and we will definitely be back to try them but we were there for the hand made croissants that another local restaurant owner told us about. We had the classic, chocolate and cookie filled versions. The classic was flaky and well made. The chocolate was solid and not overly filled. The cookie filled was amazing. We walked to the brand-new Short North location first, but it was inexplicably closed despite posted hours. That was frustrating. We really wanted Frenchi's, so we drove up to this OG location. No line which is great! A nice woman was working the counter. We got our sammies and brought them home. They were as solid as always, but there's some things I have to note: Frenchi himself always made our sandwiches to perfection. Toasted, hot, perfectly made. The two times we had another employee make them, they are just different. Same ingredients, but different ratios maybe? Today my husbands Eiffel came super toasty and meats/cheese heated up in a microwave (or toaster oven maybe?) My Buckeye always used to come warm, but only if Frenchi made it. Twice now, I got barely toasted and my meat wasn't warmed at all. Also, man I loveeee the house made chipotle mayo but today was just way too much sauce. Yes, I should have spoken up about what I specifically wanted, but part of my reviews need to include things like consistency. Today was fine, but not the 5 star I've come to expect. Went in and asked for the dealers choice. We were recommended the #3. It was nothing short of amazing. Watching the prep work was a beauty in it of itself. The roast beef, pastrami, and corn beef was top tier. We got it Frenchis way which was everything minus a few toppings. It was savory and sweet which was delightful. The ambiance was what you would expect from a deli that is a secret weapon on the corner waiting for those who know to walk in. The owner is a humble, hardworking, and genuine man who was great to talk to. He found out it was our first time and hooked up our chips for our baby girl. Really solid sandwich. I saw someone post their Buckeye, and it sounded great, and I was nearby a couple of days later. I stopped in at lunchtime, and they had a steady stream but weren't slammed. The staff were excellent: the owner, I assume his wife, and another prep guy. Everyone was friendly and helpful and worked together. They have crêpes too, but since I didn't have Kid K along, I passed. You can get a hoagie bun, a wrap, or rye bread. I went with a Buckeye hoagie. So basically a sub with roast beef, pastrami, and turkey. Plus whatever sauces and toppings you want. I got chipotle sauce, lettuce, and tomato, very thinly sliced red onions, and the banana peppers. Held together very well. The bread was very fresh, though a bit too much dough maybe for the sandwich. Everything was tasty and blended together well, both tastes and textures. I will be back for a few other menu items. It is convenient to campus, and prices are reasonable for the modern day. Small parking lot, but there were some openings. read more

I start so many of reviews with, "I've been wanting to come here forever, and I'm so glad I did!" This is one of those places. I told the guy working this, and he said, "Well, where have you been!" It's that kind of "welcome in folks!" vibe, complete with a bubbly employee and open door, even on a rainy night. (I didn't catch his name and wish I would have asked if he was the owner. I wouldn't be surprised if he was, but either way, he was so friendly and knowledgeable. He was really enthusiastic about the whole menu and made me, a world-hating introvert, smile and laugh talking about sandwiches.) I got a simple smoked turkey sandwich on hoagie bread with chipotle mayo, lettuce, tomato, mushrooms, oil and vinegar (I think, whatever was recommended), and salt and pepper, hot. I wouldn't have ordered the chipotle mayo, oil and vinegar, or salt and pepper on my own, but all of the employee's recommendations were spot on. Normally, I actively avoid chipotle because I just don't like the taste or how it hurts my stomach, depending on where I get it. But I'm so glad I was convinced to try it. It was subtle but tasty and gave the sandwich the perfect little bit of spice. It was such a simple sandwich but so so good that I was sad that I had promised my partner half of mine lol. It was filled with enough meat that I was full after eating the smaller half. I will definitely be back here and can't wait to try more! I know a lot of people in Cbus are missing Neighbor's Deli. Frenchi's won't match the size of those Neighbor's sandwiches, but they will match - and even exceed - the flavor. I was ordering for two, getting a pastrami hoagie for my wife and what I thought was going to be a smoked turkey wrap for me. True to other Yelp reviews, the owner steered me in a better direction to the Buckeye which featured turkey, roast beef and pastrami. The meats, custom toppings, homemade chipotle sauce and the garlic & herbs tortilla blended beautifully. The pastrami hoagie was no slouch, but I'm looking to return to try more specialty sandwiches in wrap form for sure. read more

I ordered the Le Buckeye (#5), they suggest topping it with lettuce, tomato, onion, and chipotle mayo, and I added jalapeños. All of the vegetables were super fresh and the hoagie roll was solid. Meats were sliced fresh as well. No-nonsense sandwich place, excellent! I was hoping to try the corned beef but they were out the night I was there, which was unfortunate. In any case, the hoagie itself was very good. I will definitely be returning to try a pastrami sandwich and the crepes, which looked fantastic. If the pastrami by itself is as good as the sandwich, this might be a five star ordeal. read more
