Dave's Cosmic %hit Subs... Where do you want me to start? We're in town for the CBUS Blue Jackets and Door Dashed this bull %hit to our ABnB. To start, we ordered at 6:27, our Door Dasher picked up the food at 6:36, but it wasn't delivered until 8:57... Completely unacceptable. Granted the extremely late delivery wasn't the restaurant's fault (necessarily)... However, because they use Door Dash for delivery, they're ultimately responsible by proxy. Add in that the delivery driver spoke no English, tried to kick our English Staffy who ran out whilst smiling to say "hi" (if you know anything about Staffy's, you know they love people and don't have a mean bone in their body), our food was cold because it was delivered 1.5 hours late, and I was about to lose my flipping mind. Now onto the food... These were quite honestly some of the worst subs we've ever had. Subway is miles ahead of this hot garbage, and it's not remotely close. The food was $50 for two puny half filled subs, inedible coleslaw (absolutely disgusting), a pickle, and a GF cookie (that was not delivered). Now onto the really bad part... Within 30 minutes of eating this trash, both my wife and I had to run for the toilet (I'll leave it at that). Bottom line... Screw this place. I ate here before a nearby concert. I read reviews and seemed like a good choice. Very cool atmosphere & bread was good but unfortunately that's were the positivity ends. I ordered the Grateful Dave and it was very underwhelming. I would guess maybe 2 or 3 pieces of turkey on the sandwich. No where near what it looked like online. There also was nothing spicy on it so I doubt the pepper oil or trademark Cosmic Sauce was on it. I don't eat much and before I received the sandwich was concerned I may not finish it due to the size. I was actually still hungry after I finished it. Not worth the over $11.00 I spent. I also did not receive a receipt so I could not enter my reward points. My inaugural experience with Dave's was through DoorDash, and as someone who is both gluten-free AND enjoys ordering subs via delivery, I'm fairly used to crumbly, wet bread with but a memory of once being toasted. On that note, Dave's Cosmic Subs was a pleasant surprise. I found their gluten free bread superior to that of Jersey Mikes and their toppings reminiscent of an actual deli rather than a Walmart aisle. Tried the buffalo chicken, Italian and the pasta salad for delivery. I'll be honest, the sammies were ok but not my favorite sub sandwiches that I've had. I have been waiting for a bit to try this spot and when I finally did I wasn't blown away. They were tasty but nothing incredibly special. There wasn't anything specific that I can point to as far as the order being subpar, it just really wasn't anything to write home about for me. The Columbus location is on High St, right on Ohio State's campus. I can see why they expanded so quickly... the subs are delicious with sooo many protein options, and also offers flexibility if you have dietary restrictions like subbing in gluten free bread and lettuce wraps. I can't choose between these two subs -- the peace steak and the sloppy daves. Did splitsys with the husband and loved both. This is your prototypical college deli shop. There is tons of cool, throwback decor on the walls and they definitely have some hippie vibes -- from the logo to the colors. The menu style reminds me of an old walk up shop. I tried #4, titled "Dave's Far Out Chicken" which is a toasted sandwich of chicken, cheese, onions, hot peppers, hot sauce and Dave's cosmic sauce. The cosmic sauce is an Italian based dressing. The sandwich was good, but nothing super special. The bread was over toasted and way too crunchy that it took away from the sandwich. Pretty much any kind of sub you might want. We all got different things, and everyone's was good. I got a meatball since it got such good reviews, and a Super Dave (pastrami, corned beef, etc.) Both were excellent. Great bread. Tasty, tender meat on the one, perfect meatballs on the other. Great sauces and veggies. And they have their own root beer (I'm a root beer nerd.) Assorted pop, er, soda, flavors, actually. Contract brewed so pretty generic, but good enough. First time to Dave's and I really enjoyed it! We got our subs to go and the service was top notch. Super friendly folks and great soundtrack playing. Menu is pretty big! Got a San Fran (turkey, slaw, hot sauce and a bunch of other good things) on very good bread. I was too hungry to snap a photo of the sub (oops) but I got some photos of the walls which I loved! It was one of those days that I just NEEDED a good Italian sub. After a peruse on Yelp I realized that Dave's is now on OSU campus. I haven't had it in a long time but figured it would still be pretty good. Just an FYI- parking around OSU campus is a real challenge. You may be lucky and get a spot on high st. or you may have to park far away. I am glad that I took the challenge and got a sub. First off the shop is cute, I liked the design and they had Bob Ross painting videos on. The person helping me was super friendly and offered some suggestions on the sub. I went with the Big Dave and the Original Dave as well as an order of fries. We shared the two subs between 3 people and were definitely satisfied. We got the dressing on the side and it was absolutely amazing. I would have that dressing with everything. The subs were great, quality bread and meat. I enjoyed the Big Dave more but the original was tasty. The fries did not travel very well and if you heat them up they get too dry/crispy. I wouldn't get them unless I was eating right away. Dave's is a new sub joint on High Street that serves up a large variety of fresh subs. Their restaurant is small, but comfortable, with plenty of music-inspired memorabilia decorating the walls. I ordered the San Fran sub, which consisted of turkey and Capicola, topped with vegetables and coleslaw and drenched with Dave's sauce. The meat was decent and the homemade Italian bread was really excellent: crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The sauce was peppery and vineagry, but not overpowering on the acidity. I came to CBus for a conference and researched nearby places to eat beforehand, for whatever reason this place didn't pop up. BUT I spied it from across the street and knew I had to try it - tiny college places are my jam (Bagel and Deli by Miami is another fav of mine). I am overjoyed I tried it. The cosmic sauce is a creamy Italian dressing and it's incredible - they have it for sale in bottles and I had to buy two. The sun itself was great bc it had a nice amount of meat on it and the bread was great (much bigger than Penn Station) and most importantly, the meats and cheese were warm and the lettuce and tomato were left cold (who wants warm lettuce - NOT me). And did I mention the sauce?! Additionally, they sell Zapps chips which are also fantastic. I felt service was on par with a made to order type place but could see it getting backed up if it was packed. Plus they were friendly as all get out. I didn't get a cookie but man did I want to - they're big and look super fresh. I hope this place keeps making students and visitors happy for decades to come. read more

It's not just a "sub shop". You really should try it if you're by campus. It is far superior to dibella and of course subway and Jimmy Johns... and the price is extremely comparable. So. Good! I've ordered here a couple times now - once on Grubhub and now once in person - and I personally think it's a unique experience but not quite worth ordering delivery. The subs are good but not great, but the restaurant itself makes me want to revisit. Although this is a franchise, the personality of the interior makes it feel like a smaller business. It's brightly colored with music decor all around and has a variety of seating options. My experience with service was kind, knowledgeable, and attentive to my questions but pretty slow both times. The menu is vast, including multiple vegetarian options. I've tried a tuna sub (can't remember which one), the Crazy Dave Sub, and Dave's Peace Steak Sub. I would recommend all but the last one; maybe it was just my sub, but it was packed with meat with too little topping and sauce, and the meat itself wasn't seasoned, only the top. It was also cut so finely that it was very soft and textured, in a way that I didn't like personally. The famous Cosmic Sauce is good, sort of like a thin ranch sauce but you'd have to try it yourself to understand the flavor. The bread is also always fresh and toasted to perfection. Overall, I'd recommend a dine-in experience for some unique subs and decor, but not if you're wanting something quick. read more
