This hidden gem is right next to The Lox and specializes in traditional Italian sandwiches, freshly baked focaccia, and homemade gelato. I've been here a few times now and it's always a treat. The staff is very pleasant and helpful, the food is delicious with ingredients imported from Italy, and the decor is relaxing. -- at Short North Arts District.

Excellent sandwiches -- I admit that at first glance I was concerned they'd be overly bread heavy and lack flavor, but that was far from true. The focaccia bread is light and perfectly salty, the meats and spreads rich but not overwhelming. We got the Il Top and prosciutto e fichi and they perfectly complemented one another, with the top being more savory and the fichi sweet (because of the fig jam). We were so full we didn't try the gelato, but we've heard you can only find better in Italy. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive (I noticed the owner on site, which speaks to their attention to the place) and the decor is so whimsical and fun (umbrellas decorate the ceiling, cool finds from Italy, from wine to books to drinkware, are on sale on the walls). Definitely check it out! Next time we have guests in Columbus, we'll take them here.

What a gem! I wanted to take my Italian wife to someplace cool on her birthday weekend trip and this did not disappoint. From the moment you walk in you are transported to Italy. The staff are amazing and friendly. I got the prosciutto e fiche. House made focaccia bread with prosciutto de Parma, soft cheese, fig jam, and a black garlic crema. I cannot describe what my brain went through after the first bite. It was pure Italian pride in a sandwich. They gave house made gelato as well. I had tiramisu and chocolate mixed. So rich and creamy. If you are anywhere close to this place do yourself a favor and stop!

This place is AMAZING! It smelled soooo good when I walked in. We got the Top & Fichi sandwiches- yummy. Loved the black truffle chips and the strawberry cheesecake with chocolate shavings was delish. The staff were great. Highly recommend

Whats not to love? Homemade focaccia and homemade gelato, all under one roof....Sign me up. No bread brings me more joy than focaccia. It's a soft, chewy, fluffy labor of love. Piazza Pelino brings easily the best bread on the planet, freshly made daily, to the heart of Columbus. The Della Casa is a beautiful sandwich. Prosciutto and pesto never misses. Don't let the size fool you, these sandwiches are deceptively filling. The charm factor is absolutely off the charts here. It's the ceramic tile, the umbrellas, and the Italian music serenading in the background. I've been to my far share of sandwich shops in Italy over the past decade, and Piazza Pelino instantly transports me there....one of my life's happy places.

I saw someone review this place on social media and I had to check it out. It did not disappoint!!! I love that they have their own parking lot right outside the business so no need to worry about street parking. Once you're inside the shop, it's pretty spacious and it smells sooo good like fresh bread. They have several tables too. You can order at the counter and then pick where you'd like to sit. I don't remember the name of the sandwich I had but it had cheese, prosciutto, and pesto, and it was delicious. It was pretty big so I had to save some for later. I also tried the pistachio gelato and it was the best gelato I've ever had.

There is truly nothing like an italian sandwhich with the highest quality ingredients! The Della Casa blew me away- it doesn't look like much but the focaccia, prosciutto, and stracciatella are top notch. It was the perfect amount! The calabrese was a bit of a letdown- it tasted like focaccia with tomatoes, which is technically what it is but we couldn't really tell there was nduja in there. For sandwiches that came to around $19 each after tip, it would be nice to be a tad more generous with the ingredients. It's cute in here and they have a nice shop as well, the wine selection looks great. I'm excited to come back to try the gelato!

Super cute sandwich shop that just opened next to Lox. Not a lot of seating inside but the tables are beautiful with the ceramic tiles. There's also a large selection of ceramic goods and other cute things inside in addition to the food! All their sandwiches looked amazing on the menu. We ended up trying a few - the Della Casa was a fav. The bread was super fresh with delish sea salt and the prosciutto was also so good. The gelato also looked amazing and we got to try the pistachio, which was so good. Overall, love this new sandwich shop and would definitely be back!

A Culinary Gem in the Heart of Short North! Columbus, meet your new go-to spot for gourmet sandwiches --Piazza Pelino in the Short North! This place has already earned a permanent spot in my list of favorite eateries, and here's why: I had the pleasure of trying both the IL Top and Genovese sandwiches, and let me tell you, these are not just sandwiches--they are works of art. **IL Top Sandwich:** This masterpiece is a flavor explosion from the first bite. The IL Top features layers of thinly sliced, perfectly seasoned mortadella, rich, creamy burrata, and a delightful pistachio pesto that ties everything together. The focaccia, fresh from their bakery, is crisp on the outside with a soft, airy interior that soaks up the pesto without becoming soggy. It's balanced, it's savory, and it's absolutely addictive. Each bite transports you straight to an Italian piazza, with flavors so authentic you'd think you were dining under the Tuscan The ambiance at Piazza Pelino is just as impressive as the food. The decor is chic yet cozy, with a modern twist that pays homage to classic Italian eateries. The staff are incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and passionate about the menu--clearly proud to be part of such a stellar establishment. Piazza Pelino is more than just a restaurant; it's a dining destination. Whether you're a Columbus local or just passing through, this is a place you simply cannot miss. Trust me, one visit and you'll be planning your next meal here before you've even left the table. **Pro tip:** Go early because this place is bound to get popular fast. And don't forget to try one of their homemade desserts--they're the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Columbus, you've got yourself a new culinary star in Piazza Pelino. Five stars all the way!

It's a cute Italian inspired restaurant in the downtown. Good thing is they have parking which might be a nightmare on weekends. I have had their gelato. They change their flavours often. I like their ricotta cheese flavour and tiramisu. The options are limited though. The staff is polite and courteous I had to edit my review. I tried their focaccia sandwiches. We have tried 2 different sandwiches and they are subpar for the price they are charging. There was nothing good about their sandwiches

A small place with crazy good sandwiches and gelato! If you value quality- then you'll love this place!! Order at the counter from friendly folks, seating options are cozy and its not too loud or trying too hard. A little taste of Italy like you would find at a walk up shop in Cinque Terra.

Got around to trying this new gem in the short north! It so delicious and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and well thought out. The staff was super friendly. While it is a tad on the high price side, it's a nice place to treat yourself on occasion. One recommendation I do have for them (and I almost took one star off for this) is that the focaccia bread would have been better if it was slightly warmed. Mine came out relatively cold and when you combine cold bread with cold meats, cheese and speeds, you lose some contrast. Also, it's a jaw workout chewing cold focaccia. Overall, just an excellent place.

Finally a dream come true and home away from home! I've visited Italy a few times in my life, and have always loved those street focaccia sandwiches. I try to recreate at home, but not quite the same. I was thrilled to hear a place like this was coming. We split the Il Top and got a blood orange soda. Absolutely delicious! Their focaccia was perfectly moist and infused with the right amount and olive oil flavoring. High quality ingredients that are imported from Italy that warrant the cost. So worth it, and inside was lovely as well. Loved all the wine there along with the Italian specialty items! They also serve gelato which we got to sample. If we weren't so full we would've gotten that too. Their amaretto was to die for. We will definitely be back, great work on this place! Authenticity was definitely there.

They were as solid as always, but there's some things I have to note: Frenchi himself always made our sandwiches to perfection. Toasted, hot, perfectly made. The two times we had another employee make them, they are just different. Same ingredients, but different ratios maybe? Today my husbands Eiffel came super toasty and meats/cheese heated up in a microwave (or toaster oven maybe?) My Buckeye always used to come warm, but only if Frenchi made it. Twice now, I got barely toasted and my meat wasn't warmed at all. Also, man I loveeee the house made chipotle mayo but today was just way too much sauce. Yes, I should have spoken up about what I specifically wanted, but part of my reviews need to include things like consistency. Today was fine, but not the 5 star I've come to expect. Add in that the delivery driver spoke no English, tried to kick our English Staffy who ran out whilst smiling to say "hi" (if you know anything about Staffy's, you know they love people and don't have a mean bone in their body), our food was cold because it was delivered 1.5 hours late, and I was about to lose my flipping mind. There were about 6 to go bags on the shelf along with mine. When I mentioned to the cashier that I was surprised it wasn't busier, she said it'll be busier tomorrow. I said the day after St Pat's? No answer. Another not good sign in my mind. When I got home, the wrapped sandwich was bigger than my hand but not very tall. The paper had areas of grease which is a good sign for this sandwich. The corned beef itself was tender but there wasn't as much of it, maybe an inch high and 1/3 of the bread had no corned beef. I also could not taste the thousand island dressing. The rye bread was toasted but pretty soggy. The crust was mostly crunchy. The bread slices were paired upside down putting a narrower side a larger side against each other. There is not enough sauerkraut and it is not very sour. I was given the choice of a dill or garlic pickle but I cannot tell you how it was because they didn't put it in the bag. I expected this sandwich to have so much meat in it, I could eat for multiple days for $18. Again, disappointed. Maybe I should've gotten the deli sized version but paying that much for a sandwich... The inside of the deli is fun and it's obvious it's been around a long time and has been well loved. I wanted to like Katzinger's but since the price and the quality don't match, I cannot.

The man running the store was very personable and friendly but left me alone to eat. He saw my poll worker name tag and offered me a free drink. Asked how it was after I had finished. The restaurant is small but clean and inviting. But seriously...that burger!!!

It was a good bit north of "well done." I asked for no pickle and got pickle. I really don't like the taste of pickle, but was not going to ask for a new burger just because it has some pickle juice on it. The bun was nicely grilled. I was not sure whether to get sweet potatoes fries or regular fries and the cashier offered a mix. I liked that and both types of fries were very good -- served hot and seemed like they were cooked in fresh and clean oil. The regular fries had just a touch of breading or batter, I think. The fries were the best part of my meal. No fountain soft drinks and just a soda in a can for $2. That's definitely a point against them. The store was extremely clean and it looks like they had good desserts. They have egg for their burgers which is a plus for me. They bill themselves as halal-friendly, that's good. Lots of vegetarian choices on the menu.
