Really enjoyed this restaurant. Brought my sister and her husband and son for her birthday. Does not look like much from the outside but once you step inside it's very cool. Famous for their stuffed pancake balls -- and they did not disappoint. Ooey-gooey apple pumpkin butter inside with a soft, chewy exterior = absolutely delicious (and super filling). Ordered 6, but I could only finish 3. The special spicy-sweet bacon? Not super special, but it paired well with the pancake balls. Tried their spicy soup -- definitely spicy, but didn't quite hit the spot. Also had the fresh-squeezed blood orange juice + watermelon lemonade. We went with a group to have breakfast but there wasn't enough indoor seating so that's why I'm giving it a four. It was cold outside otherwise we would have used the outside tables. The servers were very friendly and they really tried to fit all of us on the bar tables inside. The place was really cute. We ended up getting the pancake ball, dulce de leche to go and they were amazing. The pancake batter was the best. Tomorrow there will only be 2 of us so we are going to go try it again. The food was delicious! However, it took so long for a us (2 entrees and 1 appetizer) to get our food. We had to wait almost an hour for our order. It's nice they have indoor and outdoor seating. The interior is nice and I like how you go to the counter to order before attempting to find a seat. I think the pancake balls could have had more filling. Really disappointing experience here. I'm a Columbus resident and have come here in the past and had great experiences. Stopped in this weekend with some out of town friends. Food was okay but took well over an hour to come out. My one friend cancelled his order an hour and a half after he ordered and asked for a refund (which they did give him). I know it's the weekend and they are jammed but over and hour for our food seems excessive. Patio and decent-sized parking lot are very nice and important to mention for those not familiar with this place. As far as the food went, I had the Katalinas Migas which was okay. The eggs were not really seasoned and tasted bland. The avacado toast was delicious, however. What was really disappointing is that the pancake balls my girlfriend ordered had almost zero Nutella in them (see pics). For the price point, I probably would not order either again in the future. Overall poor experience here, and I don't think I will be back. read more

Katalina's has an incredible menu that makes it almost impossible to decide what to order, but there is one thing you absolutely have to have: the pancake balls. These were what we came for and they did NOT disappoint. They came out in an order of six with the most incredible sweet and spicy bacon on the side- we honestly wished we had ordered extra of this because it was so delicious. The pancake balls themselves were hot and fresh and just delicious- the pumpkin apple butter was the perfect filling, and it's nice that they sell it by the jar inside, too. The breakfast chickwich was massive- we were not expecting it to be so huge! It's hard to make a chicken sandwich stand out, but the coating on this one was really unusual and tasty. It was served with a side of purple potatoes that were just okay, they could have used more flavor. The sandwich bread was surprisingly delicious, too- it was super fresh. The breakfast tacos were the only thing that we found really disappointing. They're the first thing on the menu and listed as "award-winning" so maybe our standards were just high, but they were completely ordinary breakfast tacos that had very little flavor- kind of a bummer when there are so many other exciting-sounding things on the menu. The street corn it was served with was very good, though. Something to note- there are only a few tables inside and outside, and they are first come first served. You order your food at the counter and then go sit at a table. They will not let you hold a table with items while you're ordering, and I saw them move several people's belongings that they had put down to save a table. A popular, corner spot to eat breakfast and brunch in Columbus. They said they have "award winning" breakfast tacos for $16. When you say, "award winning" you obviously have to order it. Now a CA gal knows her tacos. These tacos were good. You can taste the fresh made corn tortillas. Crema, cotija cheese and avocado made it stand out. I liked the chorizo and egg combo as well. It came with an ear of street corn which was good. Make sure to have clean hands because this could get messy. It is delicious. Here's my issue, my standards for tacos are pretty high coming from CA. While the taco was good, a $16 price point for 3 relatively small tacos in a paper vessel seems somewhat expensive, especially sitting outside in a cold patio. They are very popular for their pancake balls; I had their Dulce de Leche pancake balls, which looked tasty and tasted even tastier with their cup of syrup on the side. I personally think that their sweet spicy bacon is the star of the menu, is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy, and it was perfectly cooked. They also have their own homemade drinks. I'm a cbus native and have always wanted to try Katalina's and today was that day! I loved the atmosphere. There's indoor and outdoor seating available and markers at every table to add to the graffiti filled walls and tables. However I would be careful resting your elbows on the tables if wearing long sleeve. Some of the marker transferred onto my husbands Homage OSU sweatshirt. He's not happy. When you arrive you are supposed to order your eats before grabbing your seats. I loved that so that way people aren't grabbing tables and holding them. You order your food at a cashier stop just inside. The coffee and water is all self serve. The coffee was great! We ordered the breakfast tacos, the pumpkin apple butter pancake balls and a breakfast burrito. The tacos came with purple craze hash which is purple potatoes diced up. They were both good. The breakfast burrito was kinda bland. The tri winner was the pancake balls. The price for these 3 meals and 2 coffees was over $80! That is insane! Overall the price isn't worth it since it's very mediocre except for the pancake balls. I would definitely recommend getting those but maybe just for carry out. Every time I visit this place, my experience is 10/10. This is a unique spot just outside of the downtown craziness. The walls, floors, tables (really everything) are decorated with the handwriting of customers who have came and went. First time I had Avocado Toast (second picture). I'll say this is the most avocado toast i've ever received from an order, I found myself filled up and grabbing a box to take it home! The orange juice is good but a little pricey -- which is what you get when paying for organic juices as such. Friends had their nutella pancake/breakfast balls and they liked them but mentioned they're very sweet! Second time I stopped in, I decided to try the lunch.
