Absolutely fantastic food and service at Alchemy! So many great options for vegetarians and vegans, while meat eaters can still feel like they didn't miss out on their protein. Every item on the menu was certainly written with intention - and it showed in how flavor packed our food was. I had ordered my salad without raisins, and when I received it and it had them, the kitchen was very accommodating in making me a new one. It came out even faster than the first time I had ordered. We went late afternoon on a Sunday, and did not have a long wait time to order or difficulty in finding seating. Peaceful indoor and outdoor seating offered (first come first served) with parking along Grandview Ave. I would definitely recommend this spot if you have any dietary restrictions, or are just looking for some truly creative food that will leave you feeling good after! read more

How have I sat on this place for so long? I'm seriously kicking myself. I haven't been in years but I found myself craving a good salad one day and decided to try Alchemy again. They were offering delivery, it was within my budget, and they had several good options to choose from. I ordered the green goddess salad and got it vegetarian. To do that, they subbed out the chicken for avocado. Yum! The salad also had green apples, snap peas, delicious pickled onions, goat cheese, an interesting matcha granola, all tossed in a refreshing lemon vinaigrette. I legit ate every single bite. And I'm already itching to order it again. While I used to always come from the smoothies and bowls, I will now be coming for their house favorites and handheld items. They were running low on kale so it was mostly spring mix but it was still delicious. The roasted chickpeas really added a nice crunch. Love hitting this place for brunch on a Sunday... They have a good menu with several options that sound good to this pescatarian. But early on I discovered their 'Cowboy Burrito' which I order with 'portobello bacon' instead of whatever meat comes as standard. Smoky, delicious, comforting and filling. I love it! Bad service from disinterested staff: I stood at any empty counter ready to order for ten minutes while someone played on their phone at a table nearby. I ordered their pesto avocado toast ($5.50 after tax; vegan) online one morning. I arrived when requested, and, though the server knew I was there for pick-up, she decided she'd disappear to the back for 6-7 minutes to help another customer. I could see my avocado toast sitting in a take-out carton, getting soggy. When she returned, she ignored me and asked the next customer what she was here for rather than attend to my sitting order first. This is some pretty crappy customer service. When I finally got my order, I was dismayed to see only one piece of toast on what looked like grocery store bread. The (whole wheat) bread was fine and topped with a nicely constructed mix of mashed avocado, pesto, and hemp seeds. It was fine, though the bread needs to be improved, and given that it's toast, I expected it to be warm (maybe it was when I arrived, but not 10 minutes later). I could easily make better avocado toasted at home. All in all, my experience left something to be desired. Subpar service and average (at best) avocado toast. A generous 3 stars for the food, minus 1 for the service. read more

Then I had to think about it a bit and honestly the ambiance made up for the other factors which I'm about to embark on. 1. Super super cute place! From the outside turmeric colored swinging metal menu holder to the perfect butterfly origami hanging from the ceilings, to the adorable dried blood oranges to the funny sign on the bathroom that said "This Is A Bathroom" which was actually super helpful because when you walk back there you start to question where it's located haha. 2. The food was very interesting, I will give it that. My qualm only lies with the fact that it was pretty darn expensive for what I considered "just another version of a rice bowl" - I got the power bowl, add chicken and an egg, and then some interesting ginger grapefruit recovery drink I found in their cooler, and it was $24. That's kind of a lot on just one person... lol. Of course I tipped too so that brought me to almost $30 for a low key lunch experience. 3. There weren't that many standard drink options. I know they were super interesting with all their fun matcha pistachio lattes, kombuchas and teas, but on this particular day I could kill for a Diet Pepsi or sparkling water - just a Bubbly or La Croix - but there was none in sight. Again, it was a specific taste bud craving I had so I can't blame them on that. Just wanted to let you know. All in all, I think I'd come back, but I'd be more selective. I must say that I enjoyed my visit to this establishment. I decided to pop in here after scouting a location with my work team for an event. I wanted to. Something to eat but also didn't want anything like super heavy. At the same time, I wanted to have something healthy. ALCHEMY met all of the present needs. As soon as I walked in, I immediately dug the vibe. Alchemy's ambiance is that of a sterile and clean environment. At the counter, I was greeted by this lovely woman who kept referring to me as sweetheart when clarifying my order. She was very accommodating in answering any questions I had about their products. I decided to go with the green smoothie with the Algae in it. I I asked the woman at the counter if I could substitute the banana that usually makes the smoothie creamy with avocado instead, and she said I could, so I did. All I can tell you is that this smooth had the best taste out of the most healthy smoothies that I've had here in central Ohio and beyond. I only regretted not getting two of them. read more

My friends and I came here after a night of going out and felt like we needed to cleanse ourselves. It was a Sunday and was not too packed. Parking is limited, but you can try to street park or park at the lot next to it. I had always wanted to try it and finally got to. We got the chunky monkey, nutty dragon, and blueberry almond butter bowl. The employee allowed us to customize the bowls and add/remove things we didn't want. The employee was so funny and nice. I wish I could remember his name. Like I said we were kind of shocked by the prices, but when we got the bowls they were HUGE. We could not even finish it because we were so stuffed. On top of that the bowls are so aesthetically pleasing! I mean just look at them. Makes me hungry every time. It is also a quiet place to study or get work done if needed. The first time I visited it was a good experience - had the breakfast burrito and it was amazing. However, the second time I came back the service was incredibly poor. We walked in and noticed there was one other person in the restaurant and she was sitting at a table on her phone. We stood waiting for 5-10 minutes or so waiting for someone from the back to take our order. Then the girl that we thought was a customer, stands up and walks behind the counter to take our order. I'm thinking she was off or about to be and was just helping out. Then it took another 15-20 minutes or so to make an iced matcha....? The best place for smoothie bowls in Columbus! While I haven't been to Alchemy Kitchen before, I frequent Alchemy Cafe, and I was excited to try this other location. I easily placed our order online the night before, and we just walked right in and our bowls were ready for us. So convenient and easy! We planned on going to a park to eat, but we noticed a few tables outside the restaurant. The workers were SO friendly and wiped down a table for us and let us bring a chair out to enjoy our bowls out there. The lady helping us was literally so kind, it really made a big difference. As for the bowls, I went for the cherry cheesecake acai bowl, which was awesome! It was super hot outside, so it did lose its integrity a little bit in the heat, but the flavors were still on point. I loved the granola on top, and the cran-pecan no-bakes were so delicious. This is probably more of a fall dish, but I enjoyed it nonetheless in the 90+ heat! My sister went for the nutty dragon, which was straight up beautiful, and she spoke so highly of it too! We love Alchemy, and we were excited to try this new-to-us location. I love Alchemy. It only makes since that I would love their latest location in Grandview. I should also add that if you want me to love your dining establishment, throw a strong gazpacho recipe on the menu. 1.) I love soup. 2.) I love gazpacho... and this one was mighty delicious. The space itself is on the smaller side and parking can be tricky but I would argue it's worth the extra hurdles. We ordered the salmon cashew salad, soup, smoothie (banana, kale, cocoa, peanut butter, etc) and avocado pesto toast garnished with hemp seeds. The avocado toast is very reasonably priced at $3.50 slice and packed with flavor. Oh, did I mention it's pretty too? The prices here are much more reasonable than I've seen at other healthy fresh eats establishments. You'll find a small grab and go case in the front offering bottled juices, avocado chocolate pudding and chia pudding. Expensive trendy fad foods under the guise of being really healthy but for the most part are very high in sugar (which IMO is worse than anything being non organic). Little non bake bites the size of a rounded quarter are $1.75 and four are $5, small tub of avocado chocolate pudding I got was $4.50 for an oddly sweet very creamy unsweetened cocoa baking powder tasting concoction. My smoothie bowl was the Cookie Monster which was a $10 collection of "Banana, cashew butter, vanilla brown rice protein, blue majik, maple, and almond milk. Topped with cookie dough no-bake and cacao nibs." The blue majik is powdered algae extract and colors the bowl of pudding blue. There were gloms of blended congealed banana and the cashew butter gave it a nice thick creamy texture however it was still odd to eat a smoothie from a bowl with a spoon. I'd hate to know the calorie counts on these expensive pseudo health food desserts. Props for selling metal straws and using washable glassware! read more

I've been to Alchemy twice now and overall I think it's a wonderful choice if you're looking for healthy food at a decent price. The menu is really well-rounded, offering smoothies, smoothie bowls, salads, sandwiches, avo toast, and more. On my first trip, I ordered the Blueberry Almond Butter smoothie bowl. I loved how fresh all the ingredients were, and the flavors were great together. My only hesitation is that I think the base could have been blended a bit more, because my bowl was a little chunky! On my most recent visit I ordered the dijon turkey sandwich, which I was rather impressed with. Although the portion size was relatively small, the sandwich was delicious. I especially loved the cherry dijon dressing - it was salty with just a tad bit of sweetness. So yummy! The little cup of black beans that came on the side was the perfect complement to the meal.
