Expensive trendy fad foods under the guise of being really healthy but for the most part are very high in sugar (which IMO is worse than anything being non organic). Little non bake bites the size of a rounded quarter are $1.75 and four are $5, small tub of avocado chocolate pudding I got was $4.50 for an oddly sweet very creamy unsweetened cocoa baking powder tasting concoction. My smoothie bowl was the Cookie Monster which was a $10 collection of "Banana, cashew butter, vanilla brown rice protein, blue majik, maple, and almond milk. Topped with cookie dough no-bake and cacao nibs." The blue majik is powdered algae extract and colors the bowl of pudding blue. There were gloms of blended congealed banana and the cashew butter gave it a nice thick creamy texture however it was still odd to eat a smoothie from a bowl with a spoon. I'd hate to know the calorie counts on these expensive pseudo health food desserts. Props for selling metal straws and using washable glassware! read more

I've been to Alchemy twice now and overall I think it's a wonderful choice if you're looking for healthy food at a decent price. I loved how fresh all the ingredients were, and the flavors were great together. My only hesitation is that I think the base could have been blended a bit more, because my bowl was a little chunky! On my most recent visit I ordered the dijon turkey sandwich, which I was rather impressed with. Although the portion size was relatively small, the sandwich was delicious. I especially loved the cherry dijon dressing - it was salty with just a tad bit of sweetness. So yummy! The little cup of black beans that came on the side was the perfect complement to the meal. The first time I visited it was a good experience - had the breakfast burrito and it was amazing. However, the second time I came back the service was incredibly poor. We walked in and noticed there was one other person in the restaurant and she was sitting at a table on her phone. We stood waiting for 5-10 minutes or so waiting for someone from the back to take our order. Then the girl that we thought was a customer, stands up and walks behind the counter to take our order. I'm thinking she was off or about to be and was just helping out. Then it took another 15-20 minutes or so to make an iced matcha....? I did have to wait the first time I came, but it was more crowded. We were the only ones here...bad service. read more

My girlfriend and I went for our lunch break. It was beautiful inside with cute window seating and some tables. You order when you walk in and they bring out the food. I ordered the avocado toast with pesto and a cookie monster bowl and my husband got the avocado toast with pesto and a cherry cheesecake bowl. If you decide to eat here, get to avocado toast with pesto. Your whole life will become enlightened. This toast was life changing and we want to go back asap just for their toast! I've been to the south side location a number of times, and was so excited when I heard they were opening up one in grandview that also served brunch! We came here on a Sunday late morning and got right in. We split that tacos (added in bacon) and the power bowl. The tacos were good, not amazing. The hot sauce definitely helped. The power bowl was delicious. I loved the pesto sauce, next time I would probably add in protein. We also split a smoothie bowl and they even divided it up for us, which is always a nice touch! The atmosphere is really clean and cute! It's small inside, but there is still plenty of seating--even a big table for a larger group. read more

The new Grandview Alchemy feels like the Mediterranean-inspired cafe that Alexis and Abed always wanted to build. And I intend to do just that -- eat. it. all. For the menu, it's like if Alchemy 1 and TRISM had a baby and then added weekend brunch. All the familiar offerings -- the smoothie bowls and toasts -- plus that damn egg sandwich that I'd put against any brekkie sandwich in the city -- plus more hot items, like this ridiculously tasty & filling power bowl. I haven't had weekend brunch yet, but I'm headed this weekend for some beet hollondaise on eggs benny (it's pink!). Always loved Grandview when I was in college at OSU back in the 90's. It's stepped up its game now that my son goes to OSU and Alchemy Kitchen is a great eclectic spot. Ambiance was fun. I think someone new was training at the front end where orders are placed because we received little to no guidance through the menu for this first visit ever. I preferred a different than standard cheese, feta instead of goat, but when my bowl came, it looked like goat cheese, tasted like goat cheese, and likely was goat cheese. When I approached the person in charge to ask for clarification, I was asked if it was a matter of allergy and when I said no, I just don't like goat cheese, my concerns were dismissed. I was told it was herbed feta; might have been, and I guess I just don't like that either. In short, it's a great concept but execution was mediocre. I won't be going back. read more

I'm a 38 year old Midwesterner, and I'm used to some fairly basic Midwestern things in my daily life. Alchemy feels like a pleasant departure from that routine. Part juice bar, part cafe, Alchemy has a progressive, decidedly un-Ohio feel. Modern decor and bright lights. Very chic atmosphere. Lots of things on the menu that I don't recognize or understand. I tried some sort of bottled juice called cacao mylk. It scared me a bit because it looked weird and I didn't know what it was, but it was very good! Kind of chocolatey, nutty, and cinnamony all at once. My jalapeno turkey sandwich was well made and had a nice black bean spread on it. The charred pineapple on the fiesta green salad was a great addition. Overall, a really cool place with some good options. I look forward to going back and being a little more adventurous in my ordering next time. read more

Sorry, I just don't buy the premium ingredients reasoning/justification for these high menu prices. The food here is very good, but I had couple of issues: a bill close to $15 with tip. Ouch. Secondly, I left hungry. I actually had to eat something else shortly after. So this cute little place in the heart of Grandview made for a nice overpriced appetizer. Second time we've come here. I had the Mexican brunch dish and it was absolutely fantastic. Just perfect. I also had the coconut coffee smoothie and I love it.
