We've visited Joya's several times, and once we figured out our go-to orders, the food has been consistently excellent. Some popular items didn't totally hit the mark for us: the Joya's Fried Rice--a huge hit with our friends--was just okay, and the chicken pieces felt pretty average. The double crunch tacos were good, but nothing to write home about. On the other hand, the Joya's Breakfast Sandwich was a solid choice for me, and my daughter absolutely loved it. The real standouts, though, are incredible. The Kati Roll is fantastic, packed with unique flavors and made even better with a dash of their house hot sauce. I wish this would have been a 5 star review (which I hardly give) because I like having something so different as an option. The pros: -food came out fast -interesting & fun flavors -you have to order first to be able to get a table outside - great vibes & atmosphere -the patio sitting -really like the long counter sitting option -beautiful bathroom w/ thoughtful accommodations -the guy at the counter w/ lip piercings was friendly & had recommendations, but some of the other staff came off as less friendly & overall they're all young. The cons: -it's a bit expensive for what it is -the cocktail was lacking all the flavors it mentioned (& a bit on the weak side) -they don't have their real menu up online to see what they offer (almost half the menu is missing) -not a patio that you can enjoy taking a while on (there is high demand for those tables & there are people that will stand outside waiting for you to get up which was uncomfortable). Saw the chef who owns this restaurant on the Food Network TV show 24 in 24. It seems like there is always a line around the corner but don't be too intimidated. It does go fast (15-20mins). It does seem like most people are ordering the drinks or togo. They have this fermented chai which I did not try but the sweet chai was great. Ordering was quick at the register and they were able to seat us inside. The food also came out relatively fast. Please note on Saturdays during the summer. The farmers market is going on from 8am to 12pm and it is very busy in the area. Parking is going to be 3-4 blocks away. The restaurant is also located in what I would call the downtown shopping market area of Worthington so it is already pretty bustling! The food was delicious and innovative. The tacos had a great crisp, and the cheese was super flavorful. They is also was a sweetness in the meat. The breakfast sandwich had very soft texture and some sweetness. You can also get the Bobby version that does have some spice. Overall, the eggs in the sandwich are cooked perfectly so soft the bacon adds nice fatty crunch. read more

Wow, the food here is absolutely amazing!! The space is small and the lines are long. After ordering, i think it took about 30 minutes for my order to be ready. The prices are a little steep but for the quality of food, i would still come back probably. I wish there was online ordering to mitigate the wait, especially with a baby. We ordered the Bobby's Breakfast Sandwich and the Kati Roll. The flavors meld so beautifully together and just makes you want to keep coming back for more. Saw this place on Triple D, so had to give it a try. Came in on a Thursday at noon. Heard the place is small and often has a line out the door. Biggest problem was finding parking. Drove through several lots with others prowling as well. Ended up finding street parking right in front of of the joint. Line was not out the door, which was delightful since it was only 4 degrees out, but my butt was just inside right up against the door. By the time I got to place my order, a spot opened at the counter to enjoy the meal. This place is as much of a coffee house as it is a restaurant. I saw 4 taps and was hoping for an IPA, but they were for coffee and teas. Got a Diet Coke instead. Had the Smashburger and the fried rice to take out. The burger was one of the most awesome burgers I have ever had. I don't know what they put in it, but it was just downright delicious. I cannot say enough good about this restaurant. I stopped here for coffee a few days ago and I have to say, its my favorite place to get a cup of coffee. It is just so smooth and creamy. Delicious. Worth the wait! The staff work efficiently to get through the lines that form around busy hours. Recently announced they are open until 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays. There is minimal seating inside for groups but we didn't wait long at all. More group seating outside and lots of bar space for smaller groups. The food is soo good and flavorful. For brunch today I decided to check out Joya's. It is located on a cute strip of business in downtown Worthington. I visited Joya's on a particularly nice day so I was happy to see they had a handful of tables set up to dine outside. Inside you place your order at a counter and a server brings it out to you. The lady working the counter was friendly and complimented my shirt (good way to get a bigger tip from me lol.) I ordered the breakfast sandwich and a regular coffee. The coffee and water were both self served. I found the coffee pretty tasty. The breakfast sandwich came out surprisingly fast. The sandwich came with Pav-tato roll, bacon, cheesy eggs, chutneys, and chives. The egg was nice and fluffy and the bread tasted very fresh. The bacon really added to the sandwich as well. My only gripe is I would have liked a tad more of the spread on the sandwich. Overall it was quite nice. I also appreciated when I was ready to leave a woman behind the counter offered me a to-go cup for more coffee without me even having to ask. With the weather being so nice lately, luckily we got some outdoor street seating, which was a treat. They have lots of options including burgers, wings, sandwiches, rice, and noodles, with an Asian twist of course. I'm a big fan of flat rice noodles so the Kway Teow Danny immediately caught my eye. It had a nice smoky flavor and lots of grilled veggies, chicken, and chunks of pork, topped with a poached egg. It was served with two spicy extras, including sliced red chilis and a red chili sauce. I preferred the chilis because it added a much better kick The Joya's fried rice was a good option if you like extra crispy textures, since it had fried pork, what looked like fried chicken?, rice crisps, and peanut chili crisp in it. In terms of sandwich options, the Joya's party melt was a unique one, with a burger style meat and a little bit of cucumber kimchi, onion, and sauces in it. Once you order and pay indoors, they give you an uno card table number and then bring the dishes out to you. The servers are very friendly and quick. Menu is all over the place. I personally don't think Asian fusion and breakfast go together well but that's just me. What is my main critique is the Joyas card membership. There is a pseudo apartheid between the card members and the normies trying this restaurant for the first time. Having been wanting to make a visit for a while every time I came back to see my folks. The restaurant is Bengali fusion and all the food is delicious! We came when there was a farmers market happening in the neighborhood but service was still very quick and attentive. I got the Bengali chap cheese and also tried my friends kati roll and it was soo good. On the house we were given hush puppies and it was such a nice surprise. If I could give this spot 10 stars I would. This location is nowhere near me but we made the trek over to Worthington to see what all the hype was about and it's DEFINITELY worth the trip. For example the milk chai tea sample the owner or manager passed out to the folks in line was AWESOME and I'm not even a big tea drinker. The Egg Sandwich BOBBYS WAY, was savory, unctuous, with a hit of sweetness that paired excellently to the overall sandwich in itself. The hash puppies loaded was OFF THE CHAIN! The not so pad Thai had a mix of flavors that were unique and very pleasant to the palate. The crispy Manchurian sandwich was delicious, moist, sauced to the gods yet crispy with an awesome slaw that balanced the sandwich well. The housemade rice crispy sample was spectacular and will never make you want to eat a factory made rice crispy treat ever again! I'd heard the rave reviews and been wanting to try it for quite some time. The inside is much smaller than I was expecting. There is little to no inside seating. Especially if your party is greater than 2-3. During peak times, the line is out the door and around the corner. You order at the counter, and if dining in, they will seat you when your food is ready (if there is an available spot). I tried the Crispy Manchurian Sandwich. Surprisingly it was ready in about 5 minutes, but my friends food (we ordered together), took about 15-20. So we awkwardly stood in a corner trying to stay out of the way while we waited. The sandwich was a bit messy due to the sauce, but it was really good. For the price, I'd expect it to come with a side. Overall, I would definitely get Joya's again, but try to visit on an off-peak time (if there is one?). I'm also wondering why they haven't upgraded to a larger space given the popularity. read more

Absolutely fantastic menu full of creativity and variety! Avishar has done an amazing job bringing Bengali flavors to the Midwest palette. The staff is very personable and even with a long line, they want to take time to make sure your meal is as you mean to order it and is allergen free. We giggled overhearing a cook tell a customer "don't worry, nothing here is ACTUALLY spicy". Very helpful insight. Since I wrote this review two years ago, I've been back several times, and I think it's worth bumping it to five-stars (I mean, we can argue about stars and meanings all day long, but for what it is - it's a five-star place!) IT IS CRAMPED. It's small. If it's during a rush, you may not have a seat. This is only really a problem when it's raining or too cold outside to enjoy downtown Worthington. But they can't really change too much about this (maybe some interior designer can come in and optimize the seating space?) Even on a Tuesday morning there was a bit of a line (though manageable) ahead of the store opening. There are a few places to sit outside the store that makes it easy to wait. The store itself has limited seating and thus isn't super comfortable, but I would say you likely wouldn't come to Joya's for the ambiance... you come for the food. I ended up ordering the egg toast in a box and was pleasantly surprised with the result. Flavorful eggs and a fluffy toasted bread were accompanied by a litany of toppings and items that made pops of unique flavors presented... in a box! I had also ordered a Joya's latte that was delicious and presented with impeccable latte art - and is a great touch for a place that gets the food and drink details right. The only reasons for not being 5 stars is the seating as mentioned above and the pricing as I do feel it is a bit expensive for what you get. Bottom line, I'll probably return to Joya's to try other menu items, but wouldn't wholeheartedly make the recommendation as I can see how the small shop gets overwhelmed... but the fact that it continues to get guests with relatively high prices is a testament to the unique and wonderful flavors coming out of that kitchen with many of the small details done right. read more
