So I've bought 5-6 bicycles from Trek over the last 3 years and never once had a problem. Fast…read moreforward to now... I came in the store and ordered a bike from Devon and I had great customer sales interaction. He helped me find my bicycle online, we ordered it and about 2 weeks later I got a phone call to come in and pick up my new bicycle. When I walked in, I was greeted and I told them who I was and what bicycle I ordered. They brought it out front and it had a pretty bad scratch on the rear of the bicycle. (Not something that would go away) I also noticed it had a lot of grease/ hand prints all over it and the grips were not the ones pictured online. Thought no big deal, I'll just clean it when I get home. When I said something about it, the sales associate knew exactly there was a mistake but had to speak with the manager. Well the manger, Patrick comes out and starts finding excuse after excuse not to address something like the bicycle grips, (said, Trek has the right to put whatever parts on they want) sales associate tells him this is not correct and it's one of the selling points of the bike. So Patrick finally caves in and pulls something close enough off the shelf in stock to the Bontrager Satellite IsoZone Plus grips. Still not the same but I'm like whatever at this point, I'm not tryin to be that guy. Honestly I didn't like the fact I had to explain myself on why this wasn't right. But the grips were close enough, so why make a bigger fuss? At this point I'm tryin to be super cool about everything but also kinda taken back at the Trek sales experience. So I take the bike outside and load it into my truck and I notice the paint is chipped where the cable is routed through the frame and it's very sharp and could cut you if you accidentally touched it. I also noticed a lot of marks, scratches all over the bicycle. They also forgot to give me a take home bag, it's this bag with the warranty card and other Trek bicycle care cards and a tune up. So I bring the bike back inside and maintenance guy is more than willing to find solutions to try and fix the bike, unfortunately there is no paint touch up left to match. But the entire time the manger had a poor attitude towards what I felt like was me and to find any solution to fix what was wrong with this bike. So these weren't issues that were something that occurred from shipping, these were issues that were caused by whoever built the bike. Now mind you, not one other bike in the store look like this. None of them had excessive grease or fingerprints all over not to mention deep scratches. Those showroom bicycles were all nice and shiny and squeaky clean so my question is why didn't they just clean the bike after calling me and told me to come pick it up or look it over to see all the flaws? I just had a very poor interaction with their manager and I asked if I could return the bike and could they do anything as far as a little discount if I spent more money on a nicer bicycle and he said no. So I just ended up returning the bike on the spot. At this point I was just done with my new bike experience. Needless to say that all the staff members were wonderful but the manager wasn't the best at customer service. Definitely not the way a customer wants to pick up a brand new bike from a company such the Trek Store. Mind you these are $1000+ bicycles in here. But I'm sure sales are great and who cares about one persons bad experience? What's sad is that, at the time I really wanted another Trek bicycle and I would chalked up half of the stuff wrong with the bike, have I of had better experience picking up a brand new bicycle.

Dan was able to diagnose and solve tire issues on my '85 Bridgestone Touring. It has an odd tire size, 27 1/4 Schrader. Best, Breakaway found a C&O Canal path tire for my upcoming trip. Sure enough, loowwwwww... Just the air, that's all I need. Sooooo... And a few packets of GU - always good to have, just in case you're unexpectedly bonking on the ride, you know. While I was cashing out, I struck up a conversation with the charming and helpful Kristen. (I dunno if that's spelled correctly or not - not the point of this). Do they have footies I ask (apparently not what everyone else calls them, but I'm weird like that). Sure they do. "What do you think of this floor pump Kristin?" Didn't like it as much, but showed me one she likes better and told me why - made perfect sense and really I need a floor pump that handles Presta AND Schrader valves. Oh man, I remember, I never replaced my cycle computer. "Well we have the Wahoo brand platform, blah blah" says Kristen. I don't need all that junk of course, I've been using a Cat Eye for years and it's broken. "Oh we have those too, the Padrone and another..." she continues. This Cat Eye in my hand says Stealth edition on the box, I notice... wonder what's stealthy about it??? Into the buy bag it goes. Remember man, all I went in for was air. But I really truly did need all this other stuff too. And Kristen helped me out with absolutely zero upsell pressure - which is nice. She was stealthily helpful in a good way. You know, because it wouldn't be a rush job. The owner is claiming he can and will rebuild a wheel, but has never finished it and now May is almost over. He's quite literally holding the bike hostage. It's beyond crazy. And when my husband went in today to try to put an end to this nonsense, the guy was all, "I know you don't care..." and my husband said, "That is 100% correct. I literally do not care at this point. Every time I've contacted you, you said this would be over in a month or a week or TOMORROW. I have heard from you directly for the past month that you would complete the work "tomorrow" and it is apparent you do not know that that means." And then the man said my husband triggered him. Sir, you are supposedly running a bicycle shop. Which claims to do repairs. If you cannot rebuild A WHEEL in six months, you are most definitely in the wrong line of work. To sum up: Do not waste your time and energy and seek another shop who can do basic bicycle repair and complete the job. My husband has missed out on more than a month of bicycling weather. Not to mention just not getting what was promised. And this should be zero stars.
