Third Hand is a bike co-op on 5th Ave. The place is run purely on idealism and donations. The fundamental purpose of the co-op is to put more bikes on the road, and to educate people about choosing and maintaining their bikes. I volunteered there a couple times this past spring. First they helped me fix my own bike, and once I was comfortable with some pretty basic maintenance, I started fixing donated bikes for sale. I had to quit going because of scheduling conflicts, but I never had anything but a great time while I was there. Outside of volunteering, Third Hand is a great place to get a solid used bike for really cheap. The prices range from the super low end at around 30 or 40 bucks, to the higher end hovering around 100.

Great place to work on your bike, the hours are a little crazy but you can definitely get what you need done with you bike.

Neat place. I donated a couple of bikes and can imagine going back to volunteer and learn. Nice people too.

The customer service, knowledge and patience I received from Emily, Dan and Will was unparalleled. I purchased a Surly Karate Monkey hardtail, which was my first mountain bike. I had done considerable research, but many questions remained. Sizing was my first concern. Emily brought out her own Karate Monkey, which confirmed the correct size for me; and because I had decided to upgrade the tires, Dan and Will spent considerable time helping me choose which tires would be best for both front and rear. Once the bike arrived, Dan assured a proper fit. He also made certain my compression front fork was adjusted properly and that I understood how to experiment with various settings to maximize its benefit. The folks at Paradise Garage make the experience of buying a new bicycle comfortable, enlightening and fun, as it should be.

My most recent visit was to buy a free standing bike pump to have on hand at home. Both employees in the shop were quick to show me where the pumps were and to suggest one. I always buy what they suggest. They have never steered me in the wrong direction yet. It was a quick visit today, but I am planning on buying my husband a new bike in the new year and Paradise Garage will be my go to for that. When I got home I was extremely pleased with my purchase. The new bike pump pumped up our tires perfectly. If you are a biker and you have not been to Paradise Garage yet please give them a chance. The employees, the service department, and the products are phenomenal and fairly priced. You will fall in love with them like we have.

He stated there are two Specialized Como Turbo e-bikes at his BikeSource shop on Sawmill Road. Ironically, this was the last day I could purchase a new ebike before leaving town. I wasn't born yesterday. His phone message was a CYA attempt to appease BikeSource management that he reached out to a complaining, potential customer. What about the TWELVE DAYS I lost of valuable vacation time waiting for an ebike to be shipped to BikeSource? I can't get those days back to cycle in Ohio. Hopefully, Ethan does better with future ebike customers. I'll never set foot in that store again that's for sure!

IMO I actually bought the bicycle from the manger Will. He was great by the way and helped me dial it in with customizing it. They had the color I wanted in stock but I wanted to add the custom brown wall tires with the reflective stripe so they had to order them. This was not a problem, considering it was the 2st week of February. About a week and a half later Ethan called and said my bike was ready for pick up. When I got there and inspected the bike, I noticed a very small scratch on the bike and handle bar. I was really quiet and didn't know what to say? I felt kinda bummed, ya know? Ethan asked me if everything was alright and I showed him two minor flaws and explained to him I'm kinda OCD and he took a look and immediately was willing to rectify the situation. Very empathetic the entire time, he offered to order another one or discount this one a little if needed be. Most people couldn't care less but I asked him if it wouldn't be too much trouble if I got another one. Needless to say, another week later and I received a phone call saying the bike was ready. The fact that Ethan went above and beyond and understood how I felt without even really saying anything to him spoke volumes to me on how Bike Source employee(s) takes care of their customers. Ethan was super cool the entire experience and I loved showing up and they had the pedals on and all ready for me to ride was awesome. The fact my bike is little custom than stock is also really cool.

Sure enough, loowwwwww... Just the air, that's all I need. Sooooo... While I was there I picked up a couple fresh, larger capacity water bottles... because you know, Pelotonia and all, will be nice to have fresh bottles. And a few packets of GU - always good to have, just in case you're unexpectedly bonking on the ride, you know. While I was cashing out, I struck up a conversation with the charming and helpful Kristen. (I dunno if that's spelled correctly or not - not the point of this). Do they have footies I ask (apparently not what everyone else calls them, but I'm weird like that). Sure they do. "What do you think of this floor pump Kristin?" Didn't like it as much, but showed me one she likes better and told me why - made perfect sense and really I need a floor pump that handles Presta AND Schrader valves. Oh man, I remember, I never replaced my cycle computer. "Well we have the Wahoo brand platform, blah blah" says Kristen. I don't need all that junk of course, I've been using a Cat Eye for years and it's broken. "Oh we have those too, the Padrone and another..." she continues. This Cat Eye in my hand says Stealth edition on the box, I notice... wonder what's stealthy about it??? Into the buy bag it goes. Remember man, all I went in for was air. But I really truly did need all this other stuff too. And Kristen helped me out with absolutely zero upsell pressure - which is nice. She was stealthily helpful in a good way. Roll UA has been supremely assistive as I return to long distance riding after so many years absence. Super friendly folks all the way round. And I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately the supplier did not actually have it in stock, so the employees called and left a message, then emailed me to let me know. If they are willing to go this far for a small order from a new customer on the other side of the country, I can only imagine that they treat their local and regular customers at least as well.
