Just stopped back in to Roll - UA, just to have them check the air levels in my tyres, since they were feeling a bit on the "squishy" side to me. Simple enough task. Sure enough, loowwwwww... Just the air, that's all I need. Sooooo... While I was there I picked up a couple fresh, larger capacity water bottles... because you know, Pelotonia and all, will be nice to have fresh bottles. And a few packets of GU - always good to have, just in case you're unexpectedly bonking on the ride, you know. While I was cashing out, I struck up a conversation with the charming and helpful Kristen. (I dunno if that's spelled correctly or not - not the point of this). Do they have footies I ask (apparently not what everyone else calls them, but I'm weird like that). Sure they do. "What do you think of this floor pump Kristin?" Didn't like it as much, but showed me one she likes better and told me why - made perfect sense and really I need a floor pump that handles Presta AND Schrader valves. Oh man, I remember, I never replaced my cycle computer. "Well we have the Wahoo brand platform, blah blah" says Kristen. I don't need all that junk of course, I've been using a Cat Eye for years and it's broken. "Oh we have those too, the Padrone and another..." she continues. This Cat Eye in my hand says Stealth edition on the box, I notice... wonder what's stealthy about it??? Into the buy bag it goes. Remember man, all I went in for was air. But I really truly did need all this other stuff too. And Kristen helped me out with absolutely zero upsell pressure - which is nice. She was stealthily helpful in a good way. Roll UA has been supremely assistive as I return to long distance riding after so many years absence. Super friendly folks all the way round. And I really appreciate it. read more

Having difficulty finding a proprietary part for my bike, I found it online with this store and placed an order even though I knew nothing about it other than some Yelp! reviews. Unfortunately the supplier did not actually have it in stock, so the employees called and left a message, then emailed me to let me know. When I responded, they dutifully offered to the manufacturer to try and find an alternative part for me. If they are willing to go this far for a small order from a new customer on the other side of the country, I can only imagine that they treat their local and regular customers at least as well. read more

We were in the market for a bike, and roll was suggested to us. The staff was friendly and helpful about reviewing our options. The purchase of the bike comes with a pre-purchase check/tune-up to make sure everything is in order. They also have a nice trade-in program option for the kids' bikes. You can trade in the bike for the next size up and get a 50% credit towards the new one. The old bike gets reconditioned and fixed up and then either sold through their used bike section or donated. It was nice to hear about this program. The bike has been great so far! In addition to the bicycles, they also offer some gear and bike accessories. There is a small parking lot available, as well as nearby street parking. read more

Also I got a new bike and one of the tires were flat, so we told them and they fixed it up in less than 10 minutes. I strongly recommend this bike shop. read more

I went in to have the bar tape replaced (I supplied the bar tape). The installer cut the tape in the wrong direction near the stem and added more tape to cover up the mistake. Also, I provided them with a new Ultegra chain which I discovered later was not used. I'll never go back for service. Period. read more

I bought my road bike from Roll Westerville a few years ago, and bike shoes from Roll Lane, but had never really used them again - bike rode well, shoes were fine (I'm an indoor rider so I go through shoes often, and now order online). However, when the time came to have my bike serviced, of course - no real way to safely go in and do a drop-off. Roll came to the rescue by offering pick-up and drop-off, no-contact service. So easy - all online, and they put the green handlebar tape I asked for, I paid over the phone. All in all, this was the experience which will bring me back to Roll when the time comes. I've purchased a few bikes from here in the past so went back to purchase a pair of mountain bikes to add a cyc photon to. We had a specific bike in mind so we inquired about that one (Giant Talon 2) as an entry level mountain bike. As soon as we mentioned adding the motor they wouldn't answer anything about the mtb and would not talk to us about anything other than the electric bikes they carried- even after we explained we did not want to buy one of the pre-made electric bikes for multiple reasons. They just walked back to the electric bikes and wouldn't show us anything but those. They insisted none of Giant's disc brakes could handle the speed or weight of an electric motor. I hope I don't weigh 20lbs more than the average person or the brakes apparently wouldn't be able to handle me either, according to that logic. Also, I'm assuming people go faster than 20mph on bikes daily? They finished with saying they've never seen an electric motor added to a bike work well. (They really like talking bad about everything except what they want to sell you, apparently) We ended up purchasing a pair of Giant Talon 1 at a different local bike shop and will be going there from now on. read more

This place is just ok. Staff are friendly but in that you're bugging me but I still have to wait on you feeling. Prices aren't too rediculous as you'd typically expect in this market. Biggest complaint is what you see on the website as far as showing available for pick up in the store isn't always true and the staff at the store don't seem too bothered by the disparity. Visiting my son at OSU for the day and his bicycle needed repair. It was a Sunday afternoon and we noticed they had Sunday hours, so we stopped in for assistance. Walked in to Roll and was greeted warmly by the entire staff. Chris immediately examined the bike, found the issue(s) (of which there were many) and proceeded to fix them on the spot. They could have said they didn't have time and to make an appointment, but Chris jumped right on it, showed us the cause of the problems and proceeded to fix them immediately. We highly recommend this place for all your biking needs and they sell top notch bikes as well. Excellent customer service! Wouldn't go anywhere else! Keep up the good work!! read more

My son and I were riding our bikes to the OSU game today when he completely wiped out. The brake pad ended up smashed under the tire, and we found out later as they fixed it at Roll that the handlebars has gone in a complete circle three times, twisting all the wires and destroying the brake housing. The front tire wouldn't even roll. Long story short, we took it to Roll, and we weren't even sure it would be able to be repaired. They could not have been nicer, and they were so efficient and knowledgeable! They made it better than new in a short amount of time, and for about a third of what I would have expected to pay. This is a long overdue review since I have been a customer for years, but the level of service that customers receive at the Bexley roll location is always first class. I live in the neighborhood and so I'm pretty much a regular. I have a family of 5 who all ride bikes, and I started getting pretty serious about riding a few years back. Such a love/hate relationship. I love bike stores. All bike stores... but it took me a while to get there. Let's be honest. Bike stores are kind of like tattoo shops, you just aren't sure if you can hang with cool kids when you are a newbie. And Roll is excellent for easing you into the shallow end of the pool. The store and staff are easily accessible and are willing to take their time to answer all of your questions. They even have this goofy, but kind of cool machine to measure you and make sure are fitted properly. And a lot of their staff have a lot of experience and good tips and good ride suggestions. I also can't complain about the bike brands they carry. Giant and Felt are both solid brands. But when you get a point to actually trying to buy something, this place is kind of a pain in the butt. At first, I thought it was just me. I am a tall girl and they didn't have any the Giant Avail 3 (a women specific design bike- WSD) in a large, which I needed- so I had to special order it. Which is fine, but it required a half down deposit (which the sales person assured me was fully refundable if I didn't want the bike, though that story changed depending on who I spoke with later). It also took nearly 2 weeks to get the bike and the staff were really bad at communicating delays. As in, they didn't call- I had to call them... several times. It all turned out all right eventually and I love my bike. But I have helped several people purchase bikes since then and several have reported the same problem. I am not sure what it is exactly, but it seems like since it is a more corporate structured store- the responsibility for an individual customer is easily diffused and you just don't get the personal attention you get at other shops. I would still recommend this place for the newbie. And I really like the Roll on Lane for my random needs. Just be prepared to your visit to take some time, ask lots of questions, and Ride On. read more

Roll is a great bike store for all of the reasons of past reviews: good inventory, an accessible selling approach that flexes with the expertise of the buyer, cool technology that measures you in order to provide you with the perfect bike fit. One star off for the chaotic environment...it gets pretty busy and then it's every man for himself trying to find some help. Hubby and I went in to buy bikes to explore our new home in Columbus. We got a salesperson who admitted he was new to roll (but he wasn't new to bikes). He showed us a couple of options and then let us take them for a test ride. He wasn't pushy but did lead us in the direction he thought we needed to go based on our riding habits. His recommendation was right on. We ended up buying the roll bikes. They are custom made based on your measurements and you get to select the color and other features you want. Mine is baby blue and totally awesome. We placed the order on a Sunday and received a call on Wednesday that the bikes were ready. it was frankly a lot faster than we imagined. I had picked out a larger saddle and they changed it out and had it ready for pickup. We love these bikes...the braking and gear systems are just right for riding around here. Everywhere we go people make comments to us, "love your roll bikes". We didn't know anything about the Kickstarter campaign that supported the bikes' conception. But they seem to have a cult following. We went back to roll yesterday to pick up some accessories. Service was better. The roll bikes come with some service aspects free for life, and your first tune up is included. Looking forward to a long relationship with them. read more

Colnago, Giant, BMC, Felt, and a lot of beach cruisers. Seriously, these folks are customer-centric. They don't just say that, they mean it. First two visits, they spent at least an hour talking to me about the new and latest bikes. Then I test-rode a few, then went back to try to figure out if I needed slick tires on my old mtb, hesitated to buy tires, went back to see if I should buy a new road bike, ended up with cheaper slick tires (with free installation if you buy from them), and still got a smile from them. You'd think they'd be sick of me by now eh? The real kicker? I had issues getting my armadillo tires on my old road bike and went to get some help. Wow, they spent 10 minutes doing it and giving a me a tutorial on these stubborn tires. How much???? "FREE" she said. Now that is yelp worthy. I love this shop. Though I may not be ready to purchase a new bike from them simply because I don't ride great enough to upgrade [yet], I've bought all my other accessories here. I've seen them service Cervelo bikes here too so you should be in good hands here. If you hate waiting, just walk across the street to Whole Foods and hang out in their cafe area :) read more

Roll:'s existence is a sizable reason why I love bikes, and why I have spent many a paycheck on bike necessities/accessories/cool crap. Roll: caters to those biking as commuters, as exercisers, and as leisurers. The employees are passionate about the sport, and do not pressure you to feel like Baroness Bicyclist de Columbus/Duke Bicyclist de Columbus. They've helped me make educated decisions on air pumps, bike shorts, and cool lights to jazzify my bike (you know, so drivers can see me). Additionally, roll: host bike rides in the spring and summertime (which I have unfortunately not taken up, but I will!) to unite fellow bike riders. A portion of Pelotonia proceeds (if you are riding) can be donated to your peloton, or you can receive a small discount on your purchase if you are riding in Pelotonia, if I am not mistaken. Love this shop. When my bicycle was stolen in February I was devastated. It took months for the insurance claim to go through, and when it finally did I immediately started searching for a new bike! My old bike had been a hybrid, a nice hybrid but still kind of slow and clunky. When I came into roll and expressed my hesitation for the "weird' road bike handlebars they encouraged me to test out one of their bikes, and since I was nervous they could even do it inside on a trainer, where it would be next to impossible to fall over. great! We got there maybe 20 minutes before they were going to close, but the salesperson who worked with us let us take our time still, and we stayed probably 20 minutes after close. Last week we came back to make our final decisions and ride around the bikes we had chosen out. We took them for spin and came back saying the felt too aggressive, and the sales rep helping us this time said he could flip the stem and see if that helped. It took awhile, but he was happy to do it for us and when we tried them this time, we were SOLD. BAM, bikes. They give you a 15% discount on accessories when you buy a bike, and since we were buying two, the cheaper bike was considered an accessory! so I saved $50 on my bike. Ding! read more

We LOVE Roll- they took care of us through the Easton and Lane Ave stores. Great service in both locations and we are really happy with the bike, extras and work we had done. Spent a LOT of time fitting the bike and making sure everything was perfect. No, you're not going to find cheap bikes here- because they only sell the good stuff. So get serious and put money into a good bike and have it easily for decades. Pretty good selection of Electra, but remember that you can order what they don't have in stock. Also great gear, shoes, baskets, lights, kids bikes, kids seats... We would send our friends here for sure! read more

I would call it a successful stop at a business when it ends with an invitation to a kegger. That's just what happened when I dropped by Roll to grab a couple of bike maintenance items. Apparently this was a night where there was a company kegger where all the customers who had bought custom bikes at Roll (only a subset of all the bikes they carry) were going to show off their wares. They told me some of these custom bikes could run somewhere around $3,000 a piece. Now that's definitely worth a keg or two. The business was immaculately laid out with a service center in the back to service your bike as you so desired and bikes, bikes, and more brand new bikes all around the showroom. They had a relatively small layout of bike maintenance tools, but they had everything I needed. I would say the tools they sell here are about the same prices you would find on the internet - fantastic. Though of course your mileage (pun) may vary based on what you're looking for. Definitely a nice, friendly place to service many of your bike needs. read more

I haven't ridden a bike in decades but thanks to a friend of mine we got the bug bad. It's been extra tough for me to find a bike because I'm 6'6" tall and I know that a correct fit is essential. Turns out I've been sitting on more bikes than I've wanted, testing fit and getting other peoples opinions. This is the part where Roll kicks Major Butt. They have a German engineered full body scanner that determines every measurement you need to correctly match you to a bicycle. That's it. Now you can go straight to the bicycles that fit you. If I had stopped here first I could've reduced my shopping time by 80%. In addition, Saille was very helpful from the moment I walked in the door. She did a safety check on the bike that I came to test and while I was testing that bike she set up another bike so that it would be ready when I came back. The exact model I was looking for wasn't in stock but they were willing to order it for me at a reasonable price. At first I was slightly concerned because it looked like it might be an overpriced yuppie hang out. But it turns out that they're very friendly and they're the one place in town that can take the guesswork out of finding the right bike. Make sure you stop here early in your shopping process. read more

Roll is awesome. I love the store design and the branding, but it does feel more corporate and fancy than your typical shop, which made me a little worried at first. Do these people know their stuff? The answer is YES, at least at this location. I came in with my bf, who has a recently gotten me hooked on riding, to get a different seat for my mountain bike. A few weeks later and we've come back numerous times for other accessories and to test out road bikes. Ian and Lee are especially helpful and they worked hard to get me rolling on bikes that fit me correctly and suited my needs. They are also fun to talk to and they love it when you come by just to chat with them, because honestly, they get a little bored when it's not busy. Their goal is truly to help, and they have done a great job. I entertained Ian by falling on my first attempt at getting on a road bike, that actually ended up being a tad too tall for me. He was really nice about it and found a better option for me, which I loved. read more

Brought a bike in for service on the brake system and to get the grips replaced. Upon pickup I inspected my bike to see that the work was complete. It was not. The breaks felt the same as when I brought it in to be repaired. I was told that they don't carry parts for my bike and that they did the best they could. At no point was I told this upon drop off. So they sent me out the door. Upon exiting with my bike and testing it in the parking lot I discovered that the breaks would not stop the bike. Took it back in and they replaced the pads. The bike still doesn't come to a complete stop. read more

Definitely my favorite bike shop in Columbus (I've been to nearly all of them). I bought a really good bike here at a more that reasonable price. The staff are knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. The selection consists mostly of Giant bicycles, but then again most stores seem to have a relationship with one of the major high-quality brands. They took care of me right away.Checked the bike over and put air in tires on both bikes.They informed me they did not need tune ups. They put a new kick stand on one of the bikes in 3 minutes..There were some serious bikers in the shop at the time, but they treated me and my son the same. Great experience !!! read more

Please note that I didn't even want to give one star. It's good to know that each store is under different management because this store lacks in basic customer service skills. Spent over an hour discussing road bikes, including a fitting and walked away with a receipt in hand promising a new bike in a week. When two weeks went by, I had to call for an update only to be informed that the bike I wanted couldn't be ordered. When I asked if anyone was gonna call me and let me know this I was met this silence over the phone. Wouldn't waste time going here. I'm looking into another dealer who sells the bike I want ( OR at least could have tried some customer service rescue with a comparable alternative)! If your gonna drop some serious cash you would expect better follow through! read more

Excellent service! Came in and needed my chain and tire replaced. They said they could get it done by the end of the weekend but I explained to them that my bicycle was my main source of transportation and I couldn't really wait that long. If ever there were a great place to have a bike shopping experience, Roll is definitely one of those places. Not only has every person that I have talked with here know everything about Giant bicycles (the brand they sell), but they all also know a lot about numerous other brands of bikes which makes figuring out what you need a lot easier when testing out different bike makers. The staff at Roll use a "Perfect Fit" system designed by Audi in order to get all the right measurements easily and quickly so that they can adjust every aspect of a bike to you so that your test ride and the bike you may take home is fit exactly to what you need. Obviously every person is different, and today Ian made sure that what the measurements spit out actually fit well. When he noticed that something wasn't right, he was the first to say, "hey, let's try the seat a little lower or the frame a little smaller." Most recently the gf and I have been looking at road bikes, and Ian and Nick were super helpful finding and testing the Giant road bikes that fit our needs. I highly recommend this shop for your bike shopping outings as well as if you need to pick up some bike accessory or have a quick tune up. The mechanics are always happy to make quick fixes and adjustments on the spot so you can get out and on with your rides. read more

After 12 years of working with various bicycle shops in the Columbus area, I will not deal with Roll again. Roll has been the shop I've worked most with, both the Lane Ave and Polaris locations. My husband's newer mountain bike was even purchased from Roll and it wasn't cheap (but dealing with Roll was a nightmare in the purchase and care after). They won't be getting our business anymore based on my latest dealings with them. I had a couple of bikes in for minor service. Each bike needed one new part and otherwise he service needed was minimal. The bikes were going out of state for riding, so I wanted to make sure they were rideable. Roll also offered to ship the bikes for me and even though I said no hurry, I did give them the deadline of when the bikes had to arrive. It took them several weeks to get around to shipping the bikes, then they forgot to call me for payment. I'm a nice person, so I walked into the store and told them I need to pay for the shipping. We get to our destination out of state, we find that it appears that nothing has been done to one of the bikes. I told them the front tube won't hold air, probably a bad tube...the front tube is flat and won't hold air when we get to our destination. They wrote that they replaced the rear tube! Not what I asked for. Also, we learn that the fork on the bike is at the end of it's life. Why were't we told this when the bike was in for service and allegedly taken on a test ride? It was very obvious that when touching the front brake, the fork compressed all the way. They obviously did do work on the other bike, but they also changes the rear brake setting. I had it perfectly set to how I like it for riding and I never asked them to touch it. In fact, they changed it so much, the brake was dragging and the rear tire wouldn't even spin freely when I held up the rear end of the bike and tried to spin in. How can they let a bike leave the bike shop that way? So we end up finding the closest bike shop to where we are staying - an hour drive round trip. Luckily, it's a Trek. I recently learned that Trek makes their service techs go through a very rigorous training and have decided I will not take my new bike anywhere but there, despite buying it from another LBS (who also has really poor service technicians). I'm not paid by Trek or know anyone who works there...I'm just a really picky cyclist and I like things done right for my money. The reason I didn't take the bikes we shipped to Trek is because it is less convenient from home and one of the bikes was purchased at Roll, so I thought maybe they would know what they were doing with that bike (that was the one that seems like nothing was done to it, besides maybe a chain lube which I could have done at home for MUCH cheaper). We spent over $200 on the service and another over $200 on the shipping. At least the bikes arrived in time and we were sort-of able to ride one of the local trails. It wasn't too technical, so the bad fork wasn't too much of an issue. Now we are having to spend another $150 with the Trek store for a new fork and front tube and inconvenience our family to pick up the bike when the new fork is installed. At least I know it will be done right now. read more

As a first timer, bike shops have been especially intimidating as I honestly don't know what I'm looking for. Also, I was terrified of being talked into something I didn't need or a bike out of my price range. Many bike shops I walked into made me even more uncomfortable BECAUSE I didn't know anything or a sales rep wouldn't give me the time of day. From the second I walked into Roll, all these feelings changed. I was instantly greeted as a walk in. When I explained (embarrassingly) that I didn't know what I needed but seriously considering purchasing, the clerk took the time to give me a full tour of every bike they had and their purposes. I was measured for bike size and was helped to narrow down my options. The clerk also patiently answered all of my silly questions in detail. I am so thrilled with my entire experience. There is also a financing option of 12 months with 0% APR which is so nice to take advantage of. Highly recommended! read more
